We are back online ... partially
Well we are back online with the new version of phpbb.
I am not finish setting up everything has there are many options that I have to go through and make sure that they are set correctly. If you have any problem please pm me using the pm me button or going to the user control panel "aka profile".
I will have a solution soon for the avatars and the style will change.

Re: We are back online ... partially
Ah, so I see you have downloaded phpBB3 Louis, I was wondering if that was the update.. Since I have it too but I don't have it in actual use yet... Are you sure you want to do this? I mean I know you wanted it really bad and all, but it's still not a stable release is it, at least that's the main reason why I don't use it yet..

One thing that I think lacks in all PHPbb boards is the "fast reply" section which means you can reply without having to click to open a seprate reply box.

I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this, but I just preferred the old version. I know this isn't finished, but still... thanks though Louis, it must have taken you ages

Re: We are back online ... partially
It's shaping up nicely, Louis! I am sad though that "Orange" was assigned again to Global Mods. Had some hope that would change, but hey, better than red! Pumpkin orange! LOL!!!
I LOVE THE FONT COLOR FEATURE THOUGH!!! IT'S AWESOME!!!
Is this not the same board you have Wolve?
Sauron wrote: One thing that I think lacks in all PHPbb boards is the "fast reply" section which means you can reply without having to click to open a seprate reply box.
But Sauron we never did have the fast reply feature here. Isn't that a an IB feature?

Re: We are back online ... partially
for one thing we no longer have the saphiracoins, but I plan to make all the games and more available to the Dragonriders.
Some of the smilies are missing, don't know where they went.
have a couple of things still to configure.
Anniebee, what colour did you want to have for the moderators

phpbb 3 is very good indeed. Not to say anything but the phpbb 3 forum concept has given me ideas....
The new colour option is good to, although I think I'll continue to write in normal colours.

Re: We are back online ... partially
Louis, I was checking out the Moderator's Control Panel and I see this board has a few other features we did not have on the previous one; like Approval of topics! Does this mean there is a way to prevent having more than one same topic? Still fiddling around with it though...
Alfka, check out if the reply notification is working for you!

Re: We are back online ... partially
i think it is... i usually put the topic notifications in a special folder and my PMs in my inbox because i always check those, but sometimes put off the topics... but i havent got any PMs so i dunno if it will sort them differentlly...
oh and i know that im not a mod but in the faq section it said that the admin could set restrictions on weather or not certain persons had to had new topics and posts reviewed... so yes he can make it that way annie!!

I was going to use #960606 for my color, but it got to be too much work. Now I can use #800000 with the click of a button, and it's fairly close to #960606, so I'm happy

At the bottom of the posts there is a little "!" which users can use to report a post and then we would see these reports in the mcp

Re: We are back online ... partially
Okay, this may not seem important, but it is driving me crazy. So far I have not seen any feature in the MCP which would allow me to 'edit' the titles of the different topics. The spelling errors are making me go insane. I know we did not have it before and I was hoping we would on the new board! So far I haven't seen something like it! Have I missed it?
Ohhhhhhhhh! I discovered another feature on the MCP. The ban button list!!! Sat. 5/26/07 @ 11:45am.

i could have told Annie that! lol thats kinda weird that i knew something a mod could do that a mod didnt know they could... And thanks for the code louis.. But couldnt that thing where the mods have to approve a topic prvent repeat topics? not by a program or anything, but if the mods had to approve new topics when someone tried to make one they could deny it couldnt they?

I prefer that we keep to community open, while still trying to improve it. Most topics are really old + 1 year and they should really be refreshed sometimes not to be stuck with the same old stuff. A lot of the topics in the chat were made my members that don't even come anymore.

Thanks Alfa for that anyway!!! I appreciate it all the same! Since I know I am not very computer or technology savvy, I am very insecure when it comes to trying out things on a site or board. Fear of messing things up...
With this new board format, I can try things out without that fear. So far, so good! I am liking it more each time I log on to experiment.

Thanks Alfa for that anyway!!! I appreciate it all the same! Since I know I am not very computer or technology savvy, I am very insecure when it comes to trying out things on a site or board. Fear of messing things up...
With this new board format, I can try things out without that fear. So far, so good! I am liking it more each time I log on to experiment.Don't worry, most dangerous things will ask you ... "do you want to do this" ... if you are fooling around and you get this, this means that you should put on the brakes and make sure of what you are doing. Then if you are sure try away and if somethings happen we now have logs that will tell me what happen and I can fix it.

Re: We are back online ... partially
Good to know, THANKS!!! I just did my list of friends! After going through the trouble of placing them in the order of most contacted, LOL!!! the system automatically placed them in Alphabetical order!
I also noticed the amount of people who have made 'Dragon Riders' and haven't been on for a looooooong time.
I noticed Lord Infamous, HaydenBlower, IMNOTCRAZY (believe it or not, I kinda miss him), Incomer, and so many others who once were so active.
And I also just noticed, RPM has not posted on this topic! Could he be sick????

Re: We are back online ... partially
I have a question. What are the MSN [Bot], Yahoo[Bot], Game[Bot], etc.? Or what do they do? Just curious.

Re: We are back online ... partially
As far as I know it's an application used on the web in order to be able to to view, manage and access web pages. I am not sure, but since Louis is installing new things and the biggest one being the PHPBB it may be to enables us to work around the site before the program is fully installed.
Again, don't take my word for it. It's what I think. "I may be as woefully wrong as the guy (in HBP to which Dumbledore refers to) that thought the time was ripe for cheese cauldrons!
And since I know a "Bot" cannot "Compose a Private Message", or "Read a topic in Book 3" or "Reply to message in Local News & Announcement," It's most likely that I am wrong!!! LOL!!!!

Re: We are back online ... partially
i really dont know but could it be bots from those search engines reading the site so when people seach certain terms it knows that those terms are on this site??? like it stores copies of the text on the forum and then it uses that when you go to google, yahoo, or MSn...
just a guess...
Alfa, I beg your pardon for editing your post. You forgot the # symbol in front of the color code, so I added it for you!

Re: We are back online ... partially
Those Google[bot] ect, are spiders sent out from the search engines to crawl and store information and keywords in the search engines databases. (Note that the "spiders or crawlers" are actually just codes and scripts) The spider categorizes the words that its comes accross and keywords according to how imortant it is. You can also make bots come via the "meta tags" often found in Html and webpages. (Note if you want to view the source code for a web page, just right click -> View source, then you'll get the complete source code for that web page and how its constructed using that code, all except PHP which you can't view in a browser since its server sided) Meta tags can also contain important keywords which the bots then account for and place them as the most important. Bots from these search engines crawl the internet 24/7 looking through web pages and then categorizing all the data that it comes accross. A search engine usually send out 3 or 4 bots at a time to patrol the internet. I hope I answered your question Have a nice day.

No problem, with the new forum software phpbb version 3, it was built to allow spiders to patrol the pages and collect data -- a new improved feature. By the way, i think it sends out 3 or 4 spiders at a time.. might have to check myself up on that, but I;m pretty sure thats correct.

I miss the delete button. Now I have to click the edit button and then delete. But I'm getting use to it even though I only used it once.
