Post Director of Eragon
What is your opinion of the director if any?

-mine is "I am worried this movie may be a total miss because of the director. I know exactly where he came from and am very worried." :?

Post Well..
I think the director will somehow do but anyway I'm scared that the whole movie is a total **** as lots of movies based on popular novels are...

and so it'S just to some parts the directors fault...

I think it will be okay and if it doesn't work the way you like it just become a director when you grow up and make a remake of it like they did the chronicles of narnia.

yeah it is sooo weird. like chronicles of narnia is such a boring book(no offence to anyone) and they made such a good movie, and harry potter are such a good books and the movies kinda suck so it all depends on the director

I respect your opinion, but I have seen far worse CGI movies that made me almost ___ on my pants because of how ridiculuos they were. So, as Albus Dumbledore say; "I be you to allow me to agree to disagree."

they all used their weapons Lucy gave her brother the medicine, the oldest girl shot that one dwarf in the chest, and edmund used his sword against the white witch.

Chronicles of Narnia were good movies because the books were smaller and easier. That way the director didn't really have to cut anything and could actually add small stuff in with ease. That way it has all of the book stuff in it and a little more, all because the book is smaller and has somewhat of a simpler plot.

Harry Potter books are bigger, so the director and everyone else have to cut out a lot of information and details and can add next to nothing. That's most likely why the movies are getting worse when the first two weren't that bad. The first two books were smaller and much simpler. This makes it difficult to fill readers wants for a movie as things have to be taken away, opposed to Narnia where everything could fit in.

Lord of the Rings is a different story, that had to be tough, I think that movie was awesome because the book has been out for a long time the director loved (adored) the books, and many devoted people (or rather obsessed people) worked their butts off to make it.

One of my main concerns is that the director isn't that good, doesn't have alot of expirience, and they only shot the film for two months. The Lord of the Rings to 15 months and The Chronicles of Narnia took about 8. I'd be very surprised if this movie is any good at all, but I'm hoping for the best.

Eragon “The Book” – Fantastic!!! Well written, well detailed, flowing and totally captivating.

Eragon “The Film” – Sadly lacking the WOW factor. It merely contained a flavour of the book and therefore just a hint of the excitement. It failed to deliver many of the threads the book contained, and therefore it will be almost impossible to include them in subsequent films.

Regardless of who advises an author, he or she must take ultimate responsibility for the book. The same rule must apply to the director of a film.

I’ve read in some of the posts below that the HP films were sometimes disappointing. Personally I thought the HP films better represented the books that the Eragon film.

One criteria that might in some way have contributed to this failing film, may have been the film length. The film only lasted for 1.5 hours. Imagine what scenes or detail could have been included or at least expanded on, if the film had lasted for an extra 45 minutes. Surely 2.25 hours is not too long for a kids film?

Conclusion … films should only be created by people who loved the book and can create and delivery the written word into an amazing visual masterpiece.
