lol, i waz just reviewing the book in a reeli quick way, n i just figured out sumfing, tat it does not reeli mention if the egg is green or not, all tat waz green waz the sword, from a previous dragon, n the elvensmith (4gotten her name) sed tat blue waz a better colour than green, meening theSWORD not the new egg, so were did youz get the idea of a green egg from?

It was mentioned, several times that Galbatorix had in his possesion the last three dragon eggs. One blue, one red, one green. That much we know for certain. The Green riders sword, Talmerind...(I think thats how is spelled) was just a hint at who the new rider may be. Because it is a two handed, heavy sword the warrior who weilds that blade must have tremendous fore arm strength.....kinda like that teenage pilgrim girl who Eragon blessed...::wink::

I have to disagree with that comment. Apart from the fact that it was barely understandble English, a sword is created for a fighting style as much as the warrior who wields it. If you knew about weaponry you would know that inherited swords (like Zar'roc)were cherished items, and usually matched with the fighting style of their owner.

It just doesn't seem likely Roran will be the new rider. Whats your proof???Just because he's been trying to use magic to lift a rock; he failed at that. He is a new father, and a husband, not to mention one of the captains of the Varden. How can he go on to become a rider, leaving his wife and child to die whilst he lives on? Roran is not that kind of character. No, Roran cannot be the next rider, and please use some semblence of spelling so we know what you're trying to say.

I completely agree with what you said about Roran not being the mew Rider but if Arya rejects Eragon and he lives forever he will have no friends apart from Saphira so if Roran does become a Rider then they will, at least have each other.

We all know that Roran tried several times to use magic, but Eragon didnt really explain to him that its more than just saying the words. I took a look at Brisngr and found that the most Eragon did was explain that he has to find the magic in himself and say the words in the ancient language, of which, he only knew two:"Sterna Risa." Not a whole lot to work with....
In his attempts to use magic all Roran did was concentrate on the rock, which was what Eragon told him to do. Unfortunatley for Roran, he is not a rider or an elf and does not have that much power or ease of use. But when he understands what Oromis explains in Eldest, (when Vanir used magic on Eragon without speaking) that magic is more about the power of the user and the intent. A spell can be cast if the words are thought. He tells Eragon that speaking in the ancient language when using magic, was merely a way of protecting against miswording a spell because of emotion or thought. When Roran understands this concept, he might be able to use Magic...but how much power can he have?

I think this poses a more interesting question. If Selena and Garrow were brother and sister, then did he know of the ancient language or of magic? Could he use it? If so, there are reasons for keeping it a secret, but if he could use, than so could Roran...at least theoretically.

Personnally I don't think that CP should end the Inheritance cycle at the 4th book. I think he should make several more. or else I will cry when I have no more new Eragon books to read

hmmmm... I've read too many books with an anti-climax at the end ... so I'd have to say a climax... or maybe something in the middle... with something like Galby dying but taking someone down with him, but not Saphira, Eragon, Arya, or the new dragon, that would just piss me off.

I have to disagree with you on every one of ur points. This is such an epic series that it would be a shame for it to end in an anti-climax.
And how was Brisngr a disappointment? it may not have had as much huge action but it was still amazing.

And if he did come out with another inheritance book, after #4, I would gladly waste my money on it

LOL thats exactly how i felt as i was reading the book . the entire time, i was just thinking "how is CP gonna wrap all this up in one book". he just opened up so many different sub plots.

But i kinda like his new writing style. The only part i found was a little wierd was the shade at the end.

i know its just like he is trying to get them together and equal even though she is realy old compared to him lol but the shade was kinda wierd thats not how i expected the third book to end

another wierd thing is that cp made it so that it is only the dwarv gods that are real im suprised he didnt chose all of the races except the razacs god real but i did like how the god had to except orik to become king r else his rain wouldent be prosperious

actually the way that it happened was that if guterna didn't acept him as king then his reign would not be long and the clans would have erupted into another clan war.

Abot the gods - it hasn't been clearly said in the book. Eragon asked someone (Orik if I remember well) about that and got a reply that it's not the god himself, rather an avatar or something. It could be a mix of magic and faith that created such a phenomenon. Or just an illusion. Also, our hero tried to pray for some help, when they(he and saphira) were struggling with the hurricane, flying to the elven forest to meet Oromis. And nothing happened, the wind was as harsh as from the beggining of the storm.

But I have to admit that it's one of the few things that makes me really impatient about the new book coming out. : P Along with Eragon's promise made with the Menoa tree. Awr, pretty good cliffhanger. And unfair at the same time.

i agree that he has probibly finished the book cause if he chopped that part off he must have had a big start to the forth book

hi! so i was thinking in the 4th book eragon fights galby, and eragon loses, but then murtagh somehow breaks his oath and helps eragon at the last second ( you know those things authors like to do!) and then they kill galby.

well this has been my theory from the begenign that he will go to the elvs home land witch the first book says is called alalea but only elves know what or ware it is.

well i think that roran might die, but i dont think he dies in that battle at feinster. I think CP doesnt mention him cuz he's not important to that part of the plot, at that particular time.

And i rly hope that murtagh doesnt turn into that good person gone bad, who turns good at the end and dies in the process kind of character. that would be sooo cliche that i might puke.

well people have said it (brisingr) was cut off at a main characters death...and roran has done things. great things! hes brough the entire village and katrinas, the ra'zac and the unborn child back into the story. but in the end he just wants to settle down to his farm. will katrina ever be able to completely be herself again? i think shes different from roran.
i think itll be katrina who has the larger future in the series than him.
and what about birgit? i dont think she will kill him in the end...perhaps you're right and he doesnt die yet but i really dont think he has that much more to give hes to vunerable to katrina being held hostage or something and then turning against the varden...perhaps katrina gets taken (again) and just as roran gives the information requested to free her, shell get killed.i think its the characters closest to him that will come forward now...i think katrinas baby will be important...but how? i spose we'll all just be pondering this for a long time.

I think Roran's going to be King of Alagaesia. It fits, because he's a born leader, a good tactician, and, as stated by darkm98, CP devoted entire chapters to him. So, something big = king. Huzzah.

I happen to agree that Arya will be the next rider, but the color of the magic alone is not proof. Who ever becomes the Green Dragon's rider will have green magic...just as Eragons' is blue.

well, saphira was old enough to fight after a couple of months, so theres lots that greenie and whoever his rider is *cough* arya. Plus they could magically enhance his growth just like galby did to thorn.

it better not be Nasuada i would no longer read th books if its her... i really dont like her character however i belive that if not arya maybe roran because there may have been a few hints when he started to try and learn magic. dont kill me tho please... bu i belive that you should consider other characters as well

speaking of Roran. i was disapointed when he failed to be able to lift the stone throughout the whole book. i mean you would think Eragon would go into Roran's mint (with his permision) and help him out a bit, you know sort of guid his mind into finding where the magic is, or seeing if Roran even had the ability to start useing it.

roran will do somethin big, but i still am unconvinced that he will become a dragon rider. I dont know how he could live if he knew he was going to live forever while katrina dies. It would make an interesting twist, but i think it'll be arya.

and i doubt the release date will be set for a couple months at least.
unless he decides hes not gonna write rly slowly and finishes it by the end of this year. But at this rate, im gonna estimate that the book will be out sometime in mid 2010.

well arya and (was it) oromis had both a faint memory of having heard those names before... the vault of souls reminds me of the dragons hearts of hearts so possibly thats wat that is: a hiding place for them.
no idea about the rock though. however its possible its an old name for something obvious? maybe one particular mountain of the spine?

im really hoping this book will expand the horizons of the map of alagaesia because im really interested in knowing wats beyound that forets, ocean and plains.

I think the Vault of Souls is in Doru Areaba, on the island of Vroengarg. It seems like the logical place to me; well it does if the Vault of Souls has to do with what I think it does, which is that it has something to do the dragon's Heart of Hearts (HH), maybe when a dragon dies and its HH rots with the body maybe the dragon soul goes to the Vault along with the dragon souls who've had their HH broken.

Or another theory is that rider's soul is also included in what I said above
