I was re-reading Eldest yesterday (for the 17th time and counting) and I discovered something of interest. Here it is. For those of you wondering where I found this, it's that song the elf Nari sang on the way to Ellesmera. I'm going to type the whole song in case there are hidden clues in the words to it, beside the one I found. It's in caps, in case you can't tell what I'm excited about:

So, what do you people think the caps part means? Could "Menoa's scion" be the weapon that Solembum was talking about in the first book? I wouldn't have a clue because I don't know what a scion is. I'll go look it up on google...

Oooohhhhh.... I thought that it might be that weapon he is supposed to get from under the Menoa tree...

OK, as I promised you Saphirarox, this is what I was able to pick up from the song!

(Menoa’s scion can refer to both Ayra and Eragon under my interpretation. Why because both were physically in a safe territory away from Galbatorix as well as from the Varden’s struggles.
A FOREST CHILD WE LOST TO STRIFE;
(This also may have a dual meaning: Ayra can be considered as the child lost to fight or struggle to become her own person; against the wishes of her mother, Queen Islanzadí.
Or it can mean she was lost to her people in order to be an active part of the resistance, who is actively struggling against the Empire.
A SYLVAN DAUGHTER CAUGHT BY LIFE!
As Sylvan is defined as a spirit that lives in or frequents the woods, we can say that Ayra’s spirit lingers in the woods of Ellesmera, where she is loved by her people. It can also refer to her roots, her beginnings and where she comes from.
FREED OF FEAR AND FREED OF FLAME,
Freed from the fear of Saphira’s egg falling into the wrong hands, perhaps?
Now that Saphira has hatched for the good side, this is one fear less.
However, freed of flame? I first thought about Durza having captured Ayra, but at this point of the story, they do not have this information yet! So I don’t have any other thought for the moment.
SHE TORE A RIDER FROM THE SHADOWS RIFE!
Here we have the female pronoun that in effect confirms that it’s Ayra to whom they are singing! I just cannot understand how was it that they figured out she tore the Rider from increasing shadows as it was the other way round.

The rest of the song is kind of self-explanatory!

hmmmmmm.... interesting analyzation. It does seem as though they are singing for Arya, but then again, they could just as well be singing for Saphira since she is like a god to the elves. And I'm not saying that just so I can smile at Saphira's name again, although that last time was so I could smile at Saphira's name. Darn, I did it again! Anyways, that certainly is true. There is a double-meaning in their song, but I wouldn't say that it is directed immediately at Arya. Perhaps a premonition of what is to come...?

I think anniebee's cleared up most of the song bit and with i-luv-saphira's premonitions, good luck in developing powers not understood by the human world

nah i think ive got the meaning of menoas scion...remember the lady who sang herself into the tree? im pretty sure thats what menoas scion is....how can a tree have a baby?well technically it can but still...

yeah lol i meant a seed...not like it sprouts another tree from itself...lol that would be quite odd
