Everyone is talking why Arya rejected Eragon. Could anyone tell me why Glaedr didn't want to mate Saphira?

Yeah, that is ewww if Saphira mated with Gleadr. Arya Svit-kona is right, Saphira is a bit to young for Gleadr.

I think whats gonna happen is that the last egg hatches for Arya and Saphira and that dragon fall in love, then Eragon and Arya fall in love too. then, Saphira has an egg and the dragon race is saved! YAY! *does a dance*

Maybe Gleadr's reasons will be revealed in book 3 ?

Maybe Glaedr didn't want to do Saphira b/c he was her teacher at the time. but they could do it after Eragon and Saphira are done with their training.

i dont think there is any 100% positive answer but my guess is that you are right. (greeny)

I reckon Glaedr is so old, he might have had a mate during Du Fyrn Skulblaka (elves vs dragons) and doesnt want to mate with her because of his sorrow.

Glaedr is old(er) than Saphira and probably was never interested in her. Glaedr could have mated a long time ago and his family could have been killed and so he chooses not to mate again. Plus Glaedr is twice the size of Saphira so that might make it a little more difficult, unless magic keeps the weight off or something. Overall I just think he wasn't too keen on mating with anyone and he probably didn't care for Saphira anyways.

I think Glaedr rejected Saphira because he doesn't think of her in the way she thinks of him and it would be inappropriate because of their training. But... I also think his felling will change after a while...

I have a new theory on this, It is actually possible that Gleadr is infact Saphira's father. No where in the section where Gleadr told her about her parents was he talking in the AL, her mother could very well be deceased, but when Gleadr told her about her father he could have used his true name, and obviously he would trust her with it because Saphira would be his daughter, and the last hope for the dragons in Alageasia, that is why I think Gleadr refuses to mate with Saphira, Because Saphira is his daughter.

I think Glaedr doesn't like Sphira. And the only reason Saphira liked him was probly because she wanted a mate so badly she didn't care who it was as long as he's not evil and he's a he. But I think she will either get over with it and go for the next dragon, or Glaedr will grow to like her soon.

I think it may have been a lot of things that made Glaedr do as he did.
But what if he just didn't like Saphira, I mean as her teacher he may have thought she was ok but not more than that...
Even if there most be some reason behind it (otherwise the book would'nt be so exiting right?) it would'nt be so weird if he just did'nt like her...?!

i reckon glaedr just felt it was wrong seeing as saphira is like 2 and he's like 100s of years old.

way off topic but, those are my school colors, so we should, if this were to happen, be called the Glaphira's or the Saphidr's, or just the dragons
