i was thinking about things that could be important in book 3, like the missing part of the map and the vault of souls, and wondered if Doru Araeba could play a big part in it. all we know is that it was the capital of Vroengard and the riders, and that it is home to strange creature, and was ransacked by Galbatorix. could there be something here that could be important? i don't know how likely it is, but it's a thought, considereing how little is mentioned about it.

I am sure the vault of souls is in Helgrind. And i don't think we'll go to doru arabea because its too late in the story and nothing has been mentioned about it.

o, i beg to differ. i think the vault of souls is Doru Araeba. not just in doru araeba, but it is doru araeba.

just think about it. inhabited by strange creatures. dead and silent for hundreds of years. i would not b surprised at all if Eragon and Saphira travel there.

Anyway DA hasn't really been mentioned much and I kinda don't think it will fit if the VOS are there. I do believe that Eragon and Saphira will travel there at some stage even if its just to see what their ancient masters were like.

I think there will be like old books at doru arabia. But I think the VOS is definitely at Halgrind.

That is not a bad arguement. But where is ur support? There is no proof that the VOS is not Doru Araeba, whereas the evidence supporting my arguement is immense. What could make a better location for the VOS than Doru Araeba. Plus, distance doesn't neccessarily matter. Not only is Saphira a perfect flyer (Gladr said so himself) but the final battle against Galbatorix will definitely b in either Urubaen or Ellesmera. And Vroengard isn't too far from either of the two.

wait now you confused ME, and i wrote this. is it because he's supposed to travel there when all hope is lost? or what. i dont' know if anything will happen at doru araeba, just pointing out its an important place that hasn't been mentioned much, and could be important. cp give you enough info to keep you guessing, or to make a good guess, but he doesn't tell you out right.

in light of the fact that he has to travel to VOS when all hope is lost, i doubt that helgrind is the spot. it might be the location of the third egg, because the varden need a new rider, and if its with galby, i doubt he'll meekly had it over and let the varden have a month or more to find the rider, let it hatch and grow, and if the rider's not arya or a trained magic user, then train them. i think the varden need it to be in helgrind and hatch to arya, an already trained magic user. just my opinion

Ok the final battle could be many many places ,it doesn't have to be in Uru'Baen or in Ellesmera.
Second, Vroengard is in the middle of the ocean at least a thousand miles away from Uru'Baen.

is vroengard and doru araeba part of alagaesia? If not then maybe thats where ereagon and arya go at the end. (i say arya because she is going to be the next DR)

But if Vroengard is in the middle of the ocean (which it isn't if u look at the maps; it's just off the coast), that would make it an even more perfect for the VOS. if Doru Araeba is in the middle of the ocean, u would think that souls will b more susceptible to go there far from any living souls. Just think about it and all the evidence is right there that Doru Araeba IS the VOS.

i dnt kno, i think the VOS could be in Helgrind but i also think that it could be on Vorengaurd but where it truely is could be completly different, i think we should all keep our opinions open on this one bcos CP could add a little twist here, it mayb that the VOS is in Du Weldenvarden or even at the top of the mountain near Carvahall (cnt remember its name) either way i think the more important question is: What happens when Eragon opens the VOS???

no, there wasn't an unnamed god in Celebdeil. and besides, the one on the rock of Kuthian, if there is one, is probably greater than any of the known gods.

I'm not too sure about the VOS, but I am sure Eragon will travel there to recover some ledgers on dragon combat and more magic/techniques. I am sure Vroengard had some libraries that contained some tomes or ledgers that would have very guarded secrets like the location of the VOS.

if eragon were to mention the vault of souls to oromis he'll probably give him all the info he needs.

no problem i-luv-saphira ur point made more sense thn ny1 else has made (no offence to ny1 intended) where ever the VOS is tho its gotta b somewhere reachable by dragon back and Vroengaurd seems to make the most sense plus no1 would be able to find it apart from riders as it is jus a shear(sp) rock face so the only way to reach it would be by dragon back............

If the VOS was in Vroengard, Galbatorix would have taken its power a long time ago. After all, he trained there. The only reason he wouldn't know would be if the secrets of the VOS weren't told to anybody other than the Dragonrider's Council of Elders.

not neccessarily. he could have been unaware of it's presence. recall that immediately after his training was complete, he and a couple of friends went off into the wilderness to look for adventure and he never returned until he destroys the Riders. plus, Galby probably is too evil to even do anything with it anyways.

remember, Brom said that Galby was confident in his newfound abilities. that would suggest that galby had completed his training. and about that last statement, that he returned to doru araeba to ask 4 another dragon, u r right and i do admit that mistake.

but it doesnt say he left as soon as he finished his training... it does however say that he advanced through the riders ranks swiftlly which takes years or decades normall and i doubt no matter how swifftlly that it would take less than three years which is actually quite a long time in one city...

anyway galby wouldn't necesarilly become powerful if the VOS was on vroengard, becaues u have no clue what it does, all u know is that eragon needs to go there when all hope is lost. it might only work (or do what ever it does for eragon) or for those that are pure of heart, etc galby being confident in his abilities doesn't mean that he was done with training, eragon tried to thro 9 urgals halfway around the world because he was confidedent in his abilities, that is OVER-confident. and who knows who knew who knew where the VOS was, what it did , or what it knew or what itd tell for who. (tongue twister there, say that five times fast). about doru areba, did galby burn it, or is it just lying in crumbly ruins and hauinted by big bad evil scawy monsters? and the whole thing about a god, remember the elves dont' beleive in deities, and ther is no evidence that dwarf gods evn exist, or whould help eragon. if the did exist then they make exhistence a bad place to exist because galbys existence made many people not exist so if they were good why does galby still exist? how can you say that? of course there are gods! don't you people see? no one is right and yet they are right! there is a god, the dwarven gods are his lower deities, and they employed science so they odn't have to do anything! good lord (or lords) people! think for once!

ok, i have a confession i want to make. deep in a far away corner of my mind, i have a secret, sneeking suspicion that oromis is a pretty sharp guy. i mean hes a 300 year old elven rider, so i THINK he knows what hes talking about. WHEWWWW!!! glad i got that off my chest. now that i've shared my deepest, darkest, sneekiest suspicion, i will tell how it relates. oromis disbeleives like all elves, that there are gods, because they have no proof and if they did exist (theres that word again) then they haven't been good custodians of Alagaesia. and also, cp doesn't strike me as the type of guy to include gods, and he usually gives hints about big things. a supergod would classifie as someting big.

granted. but authors are also widely known for being sneaky about the details in their books. aye, CP does throw in clues concerning big things, but authors are widely known for being the masters of surprise. Cp hasn't thrown in any god clues, so it would make the perfect surprise. or perhaps he did. search through the book and pick apart any statement CP makes about the gods and we should find an answer.

u got a point, but a god being thrown into the story this late in it isnt very likely, and it would ruin eragonns part in it. i for one, and a lot of people, would 'nt like a god being thrown in. and i doubt cp would thro in a god, it doesn't seem to be his style or go with the story.

sorry, but i don't think that suddenly throwing a whole new thing like that, so massive that it would totally change the book, is at all likely. i don't think that CP works like that. and, oromis specifically said that the elves didn't believe in gods. all the elves (and their pretty smart) don't beleive in ANY gods. thats a pretty important statement. and, its just not plausible. also, it would make eragon have a smaller role in the story, at least if the god did anything at all. and if he didn't, then what would the point of his being in the story be?

if that was a rant, sorry, just saying my reasons all at once. not trying to be mean, just how i feel.
