Re: Shield from Misery
True that could happen if she shields Eragon from zar roc before he takes the curse off her. Yet again though, she can still shield someone without the curse.

Re: Shield from Misery
that's a complete coincidence...and if you took it like that...then she would have to be a human shield from Zar'roc to break the curse...not exactly happy.

Re: Shield from Misery
That's actually a really good theory.. but I don't think it likely. Becuase in Eragon's mind, he remember's seeing a man on the floor (dead or not) with his arm shielding his face so you can't see it. Then he see's an arm with armon on it holding a sword pointing down at the dead man. In this sense, I have a feeling that is Mutagh who's dead. And since that dream didn't have anything about a little girl being in it, I doubt Elva will be shielding Eragon from anything. Though who can be sure?

Re: Shield from Misery
that is a fantastic theory. I have never thought of that. We should definitely consider that when we read Empire.

I heard that. And it will be called Empire.

Re: Shield from Misery
Get over it we don't know what it'll be called and we're off topic. I reckon, as said before it is a coincedence and I doubt she will shield Eragon from za roc. Elva has another inportant role I think.

Re: Shield from Misery
Enough about the name. Try a different thread. But the theory is sound. It would add an extra style to it. It is one of the better theories I have heard on this forum, maybe someone here IS attempting to give new information! (No offense to forum moderators. )

OK... I read it once... within a day... and I don't remember EVERY single detail.... so what? Should I be hanged for not knowing exactly what's going on? I interpreted it wrong.. that's all. I got the event that was happening right. I was looking at his dream as a future event. That he misinterpreted it as an event that was happening right before him because Murtagh was in the same position. But if you don't get what I mean, I thought that dream meant the guy that was sprawled on the ground as dead. I don't think Eragon is dead now is he? Sorry I interpreted the dream wrong but you're being so judgemental in your comment especially with that "you must have been awake for like 72 hours when you read eldest" which I still have no clue what you mean by it.

WOW, nice theory, though I don't want Elva to die, she resembles one of my friends way too much.Quote: did you actally read eldest, because that is nothing like the book. the person on the ground RAISING their arm to sheild themselves is Eragon, and the person POINTING and them is Murtagh, you must have been awake for like 72 hours when you read eldest, because its in it, and is definetly not how you described it. This is rather mean. C'mon, cut him/her some slack!

Re: Shield from Misery
that is a wee bit harsh. But i don't know how anyone could have gotten the interpretation wrong. I mean he explained it in great detail and I got the visual in my mind almost immediately. Your mind might have been adding and removing words according to what you were expecting, i know cause i've done it before.... many times... hence why i have to read a book a couple of times before i get it right.

Re: Shield from Misery
i like this theory a lot as well. but does it have to be physical protection? it could also mean shes protecting him from some emotional/mental struggle. maybe eragon starts to feel the pull of power, and elva helps him to think straight.

Re: Shield from Misery
I dont like the theory because I think Elva has a purpose that goes far beyond protecting Eragon. I think when Saphira gave Elva the mark it mader her special and destiened for greater things then dyeing. The mark will be usless if she dies! But she could be a sheild and still not die... now that i would take.

Re: Shield from Misery
Elva could break Zar'roc, i dont kno how but she is a shield from misery but i dont think she will die Eragon promised to remove the curse but i dont think she has done enough in the 2nd book yet, i think there is more to come from Elva, i dont think she'll die she's dragon marked aswell as cursed the mark could help shield n break Zar'roc
