i don't think Roran will be the next dragon rider, i think that Arya will be the next rider, i thought it might of been Roran at one point, but i think it will be Arya, read my sig for more details.

well, no one has come up with a persuasive enough argument. I agree that is COULD POSIBALLY just be that it makes her more beautiful, but he really wouldn't have to mention it as often as he has. it just doesn't add up, so to balance the equasion, you need to add more meaning. lol. i incorperate math and science into everything, don't i?

it can't be roran because the next rider is supposed to be a girl. and for most people you either think it will be Nasuada or Arya and Arya isn't right for a rider. granted neither people really have any evidence proving them to be riders but neither does Roran. We already have two guy riders and the next one should be a girl.
all roran wants to do is settle down with katrina. people who think the next rider will be roran give the evidence that he a related to eragon. but roran is from garrows side not selena's and thats were the rider "gene" is. and i think having two riders from carvahal would be kinda redundant.

Arya is pretty much perfect for the job. she is a shoe-in. She does have evidence, it is just not what YOU would call evidence. Nasuada doesn't even have that. Roran also has squat.

I have no problem with you thinking that Arya will be the next rider but the thing is. what you call evidence is a handful of assumptions that will mean nothing in the choice of the next rider.

actually, a bunch of them are facts and a few are forshadowings. they are not assumptions and they DO matter.

when arya was captured she was probly taken to the eggs to see if they would hatch for her. it would have given galby a lot of power to control an elf rider. also, CP said that the third rider would be a big supprise, and arya would not have been a big supprise to very many people. so i don't think arya.

she was never taken to Galby. when Eragon saved her, she was about to be taken to him. and he said a BIT of a surprise, but not a shock. Arya is so suspected that people don't think it will be her. in that is the surprise.

that right there is hinting that your indicator in your signature that arya has green magic, makes it less likely.

So most people right now do think that arya will be the next rider.

as i have said many times before, when he said "i will serve galbtorix" that means that those were his plans at the moment, it never says you can't change your mind in the al. there is a big differece between telling the truth, and taking an oath.

Then why did you flat out say Roran is next rider? Why does it have to be a girl? If there is a next girl rider, she'll still be over by the guys. Think about it Eragon, Murtagh, and Galby. 3 guys and 1 girl!! I think it is Roran because he is most deserving of it and also if Roran can't be then I say Arya.

it has to be a girl for balance. once Murtagh and Galby die, it'll be 1 girl, 1 guy, 1 elf, 1 human. and 3:1 is better balanced than 4:0.

arya isn't trained to be a dragon rider. and there are probobly elves that could beat her in magic and fighting. we don't know many elves. just because she is well trained isn't a very good reason for her to be picked for a rider when saphira picked a farm boy from carvahal.

it is from CP's standpoint. he doesn't have to have so many chapters of training. that and it opens up SOOOO much.

Brom made the point that elves are more often picked than humans, so right off the bat Arya has more of a chance.

The likelyhood of it being another human is very slim. She needs very little training, so CP won't have to write 1/2 a million pages of training AGAIN!!! and Oromis would die b4 Roran would be done with his BASIC training.

fyi, that isn't even the bulk of my argument.

uh (a) eragon has been through the training. and (b) even with more training it won't be exaclty the same as eragons.

Which is why it needs to be Roran. Roran has to be trained and that way Eragon can train him if Oromis dies before the training is over.

I don't agree with that. I find that wile he has thought up many points there arn't that many legitimate ones. the next rider will be either Nasuada or an unknown character since a dragon isn't going to pick Nasuada, Roran or Arya because they're main characters.

I keep on thinking on the "hints CP says he has given as to who will be the next Rider and my conviction on Ayra being the one is beginning to falter.

Just think about this, at the end of Eldest, this conversation took place between Roran and Eragon:

"Roran was silent for so long, Eragon began to wonder if he would ever respond. Then: "You have made mistakes, but they are no greater than my own. Garrow died because you kept Saphira a secret. Many more have died because I refused to give myself up to the Empire.... We are equally guilty." He looked up, then slowly extended his right hand. "Brother?"

He gripped Roran's forearm, and they pulled each other into a rough embrace, wrestling to and fro as they used to do at home. Who can stand against the two of us? Is CP foreshadowing the possible strength of the two as Riders? The both have the determination and a goal, a reason to stand together against him.


Think back on how many times CP has made reference to the "farmer boy" and how far the "farmer boy" has come. Not only Eragon, but Roran too.

What about this other excerpt:

Then Garrow's words to them as Roran was about to go to Therinsford:
"Consider none your superior, whatever their rank or station in life." (Eragon 64)

At first I did not make much of this; but what if Garrow knew their blood lineage and never mentioned it?
Why were both Garrow and Selena described as proud people? Maybe because they were aware of their ancestor's noble lineage?
Why if Garrow knew how to read and write, he never instructed the boys in their letters, but only in their numbers?

What if CP is throwing red herrings leading us to believe the obvious, that Ayra will most surely be the next Rider? Then he mentions the color of the magic not being necessarily of one definitive color? That it can change depending on the Rider?

My only big ? is Katrina. Will she die and her death be the force that will drive Roran to exact revenge from the Empire, AKA, Galbatorix/the Ra'zacs?

you go anne shot down all the other idea's cp is not making it out there but in the chapeter ex. they are both at the raz'ak(sp) hideout and the parent of the raz'ak(sp again) is the first to attack and attack hard and fast it did. i think that they get caputred then at the point all will be lost and eragon will speak his name in the valt of soles and get the stranth (sp) to defeat gaby with roran distracting mudtha (sp) then the riders will be reformed and i will lay down money if this is wrong not much ten saphira coins.

Littleboo85, I have read and listened so many times to both Inheritance books that I can locate an excerpt in a jffy. So I decided to give it a rest for a bit. Now I'm listening to the Half-Blood Prince CD'S and I do not find them boring at all. But that's just me.

think how fast eragon learned? after you add up brom and oromis it was just like 4-5 months... i think. so why not roran?

I think that was more like a year because at the end of the book Eldest he was sixteen and when he started out he was 15 so that took like a year.

yeah, but that was spread out over time, if roran did nothing but train, it would take just months

so, by then oromis will have told him why galby is so powerful.
