In book one (Eragon), Galbatorix lost half his army. Does anyone know how he lost half his army?

Well my theory is that it was the Werecats who took them out. Using Guerilla warfare and such.

I read that just after I posted this thread, it seems like a very good idea. Maybe in the end of book four the werecats will help bring down the empire and Galbatorix.
