Yeas he can be controled but not frm his father, his father is dead. The king on the other hand is still alive. Murthagh him self said to Eragon in the second book that he and thorn are slaves now. So he can be good. After all he is Eragon's brother but if he ever joins forces with Eragon he will pay it with his life. I believe that this is how Murtagh dies. He saves Eragon and the king kills him for this betrayal

right my mistake for some reason i rote "father" but i meant Galbatorix sorry, i don't no if Murtagh will die, personally i think it will be roran, but i do believe that somehow Eragon will learnn of Mutghs tru name

Maybe Galbatorix doesn't know Murtagh's true name, but convinced Murtagh that it was. Since Galbatorix is a master of manipulation.

2. No. Eragon's weapon is probably a literal weapon, most likely a sword, most likely Brom's sword.

Roran won't die Murtagh will. In book 1 Eragon has a vision of him leaving Alageasia with Arya the other elves and two dragons. one man sceams goodbye and that man is Roran. No Murtagh in that scene which is the end of the story as Angela has forseen. As for the weapons they are two as there are two parts in the werecats riddle. One which is burried under the Menoa tree probably a sword and finally a great secret or power hidden in the vault of souls which will only be revieled with Eragon's true name.

galby is lying to murtagh. most likely, he doesnt no his true name. as for eragon finding out murtaghs true name, he cant even find out his own at this point, so how would he find out murtaghs? murtagh is also not eragons weapon, as imnotcrazy said its an actual weapon

how would solenbum no? if he did no, he would probably have told eragon by now so that they could control murtagh and switch him to their side. i highly doubt that tho

I agree for the weapon and how Eragon can't find his own name and the werecat can't help him. Galby is not lying to Murtagh. Murtagh is too strong and wouldn't do anything against his will as he ahs already proved with the varden. Thorn his dragon would accept to serve a king like him if he had no choice, dragons are too noble and Murtagh knows Galby and his lies very well. No he is trully a slave to his will

how would galbatorix controll murtagh other than by his true name other than by continuously making him take oaths in the ancient language. And how would galbatorix know his true name. Brom said that riders often went on quests or paid an elf to tell it to the rider and unless galbatorix could have caught another elf.
