World of Ashes

I can hear the crackling of flames. It is all I can hear, even though I can only see darkness. Oddly there is a sense of peace....but besides the flames echoing, it is silent. Where am I? Why am I here? Suddenly I open my eyes and find myself standing in a city. A city that is in flames. I began to feel the heat around me. Something wasnt right. It wasnt hot like dragon's breath. Just warm....I didnt like this feeling. As I look around, nothing more could horrify me more than what I witnessed. Images...or statues of people. Only rough outlines of them....all blackened. It was like they were frozen in time, but they shall not be part of this world again....only what was remaining them stayed behind. What could have done this...? Daidrea had a feeling of emptyness as he walked through the city. It was strange, the flames seemed to stay where they were and not burn out. They are...eternal? In anycase he had to figure out where he was and what happened. This doesnt seem like any place in Alagaisia that I know of. Daidrea sighed out of confusion. He didnt even remember how he got here. There were no signs of life anywhere....nothing he could sense. However in a place like this.... he actually hoped that he was alone. Moments later a flicker of life.... he felt it in the back of his mind. Moving towards it, the signal grew stronger. The closer he got, the more anxious he was. Some one else must have end up here like me.. Whoever it is doesnt seem to be awake yet. Also... I hope it is some one that is a friend. _________________ -------------------------------------

What looked like it used to be a city was nothing but ashed and smouldering rubble. Voenth walked midst the rubble, carefully placing one food in front of the other. He knew neither how, nor why he was there, only that he was. He felt the eldunari close to his heart, Bascth. Voenth said to the eldunari, Can you search with your mind, see of anyone else is here, I would hate to know that we missed someone out here, if they were injured or something. Ok. said Bascth as he extended his formidible mind in all directions. He didn't see much more than the odd rat or mouse, but he did see one being about it was an elf. Bascth said to Voenth, There is a human to the north of us, I don't know if he senses us yet, but we need to at least try to make contact, he may know where we are. Voenth muttered an "Ok" and set off at a quick jog toward the human. He came up behind him and yelled, "Hello there, I cam called Voenth, I mean you no harm. "No, I have no idea what this place could be. I dont seem to recognize a place like this in Alagasia. It almost feels like a dream. The buildings are aflame and ruin, yet they do not topple over. "An honor to meet you as well." He turned away for a moment to look around. "This city almost seems endless, I cant see the edge of it any where." Daidrea... Daidrea looked around in alarm. She never really liked heat, unless provided by someone else in their arms. These fires certainly were no lullaby for her. Yet, she'd been her, kneeling in the middle of a main street for what felt like a sheer hour. Yet, nothing had changed. No fallen buildings, no cracks of wood snapping under its own weight. Just fire. Gently, at first, Zeei muttered. "Hello?" When no answer came, she called a little louder, "Is there anyone here?" She'd not kill anyone if they did show up, she made an oath not to. I heard nothing, but you are right, there is no visible end to this place, though I do winder where we are." Voenth stood up when he heard a faint "Hello" He yelled back, "Hey! We are over here! Who are you?!" Bascth sent hsi mind flying toward the creature that said th e"Hello" he found her and saw that it was no creature of kind of creature he had seen before.
