Skills: Iolle is a talented speaker. She is eloquent and persuasive. She is good at twisting other people’s words to suit her own purposes and saying one thing while meaning something completely different.
Iolle is also good at coming up with new and unusual ways to use words in the ancient language. For example, she once used "heal" to mend a broken glass. This is a skill she had to develop because she knows very little of the ancient language.

Hair: Black. Her hair is ragged and uneven because she cuts it herself with a pair of wool shears. It just brushes the tops of her shoulders.

Eyes: Brown.

Home village: A small settlement on the western edge of the Beor mountains called Hedestad. It was once a few families of nomads that banded together for protection, but it eventually evolved into a tiny village.

Parents: Father is Dallaech and mother is Pire, both herbalists. Because of this, Iolle has a rudimentary knowledge of local plants and herbs.

Character Personality: Besides being clever and quick-thinking, Iolle is persuasive and a convincing speaker. Sometimes she uses this talent to manipulate others. She can be devious at times, but overall she is good. However, if she feels that she or someone she cares about is in danger, Iolle can be absolutely ruthless. She can be deceitful and dishonest. She lies often. Sometimes Iolle lies to protect herself and Vale, but mostly it's because she enjoys confusing people until they aren't sure which is the lie or which is truth, if there is a truth at all. If she is caught in a lie, she will deny it to the death. The only one she is completely honest with is Vale. Iolle is resourceful and inventive, both qualities that are necessary for survival in the dangerous mountains. As of yet, Iolle does not side with the Varden or the Empire. Iolle does not like Galbatorix, but she won't fight him because she feel anonymity is the only way she and Vale can survive. Iolle is defensive and has troubles taking responsibility for her actions, or accepting blame. She doesn't like confrontation. Iolle is also vengeful when crossed, and she holds grudges.

Character History: Before she married Dallaech, Iolle's mother lived in Aberon. She worked as a healer, and was educated. When Iolle was born, Pire taught her daughter how to read and write, and also about herbs. However, Iolle was not very interested in this subject and absorbed only a small percentage of this knowledge. She also knew a very, very little magic, but what she did know, she taught Iolle. When Iolle was ten, she and her parents traveled to Du Fells Nangorath, where dragons came to mate and lay eggs. There Iolle found a large stone the color of an pearl. She took it back to Hedestad with her. A few days after they arrived, the dragon hatched. Iolle named him Vale. A few months later, the village was razed by mauraders who wanted the town's oases. Iolle survived but her parents were killed, so she seperated herself from the small group of survivors so she could make a home in the mountains with Vale. Now she is a hermit who rarely leaves the mountains at all. If there is something that she absolutely needs, she will on occasion travel to the small village nearby, though she does this rarely. In the town, there are several rumors about her, such as one which claims she is a witch's apprentice. This amuses her a great deal, and she makes a point of encouraging the rumors however she can. Sometimes, necessity will force her to journey down into the Hadarac Desert for herbs or to hunt. She doesn't like this because she has agoraphobia and hates feeling exposed.Iolle only knows a handful of basic words in the ancient language and so her powers are limited by that. She is always looking for ways to expand her vocabulary in the ancient language and her knowledge of magic in general.


Weapons: The only weapon Iolle carries is a long dagger. It is plain, but also sturdy and reliable. Iolle is a good shot with a bow, but she has never been able to scavenge one and she does not know how to make one.

Likes: Night, flying on Vale, cats, hiking.

Dislikes: Crowds, open spaces, dogs

Weakness/Fear: Being discovered, death of Vale, dogs, and she has slight agoraphobia, but nothing incapacitating.

Animal Companions: Two cats that she owned when she lived in Hedestad. They are brothers named Timur and Tibalt. The cats are white, brown, and orange, and Timur is missing a toe.

Character's Physical Description: Iolle is of average height. She has medium-length black hair and light brown eyes. Iolle's nose is a little on the large side, and she is kind of sensitive about it. Her skin is tan, and sunburned in some places. She is muscled, but slender and somewhat malnourished. Her clothers are homemade and most often dyed in shades of brown, tan, green, and other natural tones. Iolle's clothes don't fit her that well as she is not a very accomplished weaver.

Dreams for the Future: Live without fear, learn more of the ancient language, own her own bow, eradicate the pack of wild dogs that live near to her.

Reasons for Dreams: If Iolle could get her hands on a bow, life would be far easier. She could defend herself better and hunt deer and other animals. She wants to get rid of the dogs because they cause all sorts of problems for her, like stealing food, etc. She wants to know more words in the ancient language because she wants to be a better magician. The 'living without fear' one kind of speaks for itself.

Alignment/Side: Neutral. So far, Iolle is on her own side with Vale. She doesn't like the Empire, but she won't fight it, either.

Parents: Unknown

History: Vale's egg was discovered by Iolle Dolrith in Du Fells Nangoroth. He hatched for her a few days later in the village of Hedestad. Iolle smuggled him out of the village and higher into the mountains where she hid him in a cave and designed a nest for him out of reach of predators. She named him Vale and took care of him, bringing him food every day until he could hunt for himself. Several months later, Iolle's village was burned and she came to live with him in the mountains. For the first year or so, Iolle, who was ten at the time, depended on him to hunt for her. But gradually she learned how to fend for herself.

Personality: Vale is fierce and protective. He enjoys puzzles and riddles of all sorts, and loves to challenge himself. Some times he bites off more than he can chew, but whenever he starts something, he will see it through to the end. Vale rarely asks for helpfor himself because he is very proud, but he is always willing to help Iolle. Like most dragons, he is a little vain about himself. Excepting Iolle, hefinds humans to be boring and a bit useless. He He likes to tease Iolle, though he is never hurtful.

Colr: Very light tan.

Appearence: Vale is extremely light tan, like the color of an pearl. His fans are white while his talons and fangs are dark brown.. Vale is large for his age, but still healthy. He is very muscular. He has dark brown eyes. When he is in the Hadarac Desert, he sometimes disguises himself as a sand dune; because of his color, he blends in easily.

Reasons for Dreams: Vale has lived in the mountains his whole life, he wants to see what the outside world is like. He wants to know about his own history, and to destroy Galbatorix because he murdered his race.He wants to eat Iolle's cats because he thinks they are fat, useless, hairy rodents and he is slightly jealous.
