i use a gateway gamin comp.. ( my uncle is a huge computer gamer an this is his old comp so it has a SWEET graphics card..)

I have an old Windows XP which is VERY slow but most things work. I also have an Apple and my dad has a HP computer which runs on a Apple system . So It didn't cost that much. Take that Apple!!! And Macs rule By the way. Oh. Did you know that by the end of 2009 there not going to send anymore updates to Windows XP's???? They want you to buy Vista . What ever. (sigh)

Well Windows XP will be celebrating its 8th birthday this summer. He's a strong fellow considering on how fast tech moves he has lasted long and still going strong.

Providing support for more then one operating system must be expensive and most probably stretches resources. Microsoft will most probably be releasing there next operating system at the end of this year so it is obvious that they do not want to support 3 major operating systems.

I don't know why people still complain about vista, it has became has become more reliable then XP.

Yeah, SP 1 fixed up everything but the over use of ram (though I'm yet to be able to download it properly)

I have a 4 or 5 year old Dell XPS. It's slow and it randomly freezes, but it gets the job done.

I use my Compaq destop the most. But sometimes I use Macs. I use eMacs in the band room, MacBooks at the local university, iMacs at the local university, and PCs at school. I prefer Macs but they usually aren't availiable when I need them the most. I have a dial-up connection here so it takes me about 5 min. to post a post about this long when it would take me less than a single min. on a Mac or a high-speed computer.

I live where people like high tech things if you go about 30 miles away. I live in a VERY rural area. The university I'm talking about is about an hour away from where I live, but my mom attends so I can get on their computers. XD lol but it's really fun!

Nope Kotor. Still no virus out there that can crash a mac.... There isn't any viruses for mac's period.
There have been a couple over the years but Apple quickly corrected the problem.

Well it really depends on what you're using them for.
If you're using your computer for work, school or just for internet access then Mac is definitely the way to go.
But if you're a big time gamer and using your computer mainly for that then you definitely want to go with a PC. Although I would still rather use a brand like Alienware.

I use computers for everything. Homework, gaming, Internet use such as forums and Millsberry. I game when I'm bored.

I think Macs are the best out there. If they're not, then tell me, what's better?

Back on topic, I like Macs but I don't own one. I use PCs the most. Mine has a dial-up connection, but I also have Safari for my PC. I got it because I have iTunes and i asked it to tell me when I can get new Apple updates, and it gave me Safari! I use Safari to get on all the forums I'm registered on, including SF. it's faster than Internet with my dial-up connection. It's almost as fast as Safari on Mac. I'm not joking. Anyway, I <3 Macs but use PCs more often.

Ever compress your files? saves a lot of room, I've got about 100 GB of stuff on a 64 GB hard drive

I have Vista home basic, as i said in my last post. My dad says he'll get me Ultimate for Christmas. Or even allow me to download Windows 7 off the website. At least it's better than my load o' rubbish. LOL

Anyway, my computer is acting up. Random pop-ups that should have been blocked, pop-ups when we click the Start menu. Ugh, it's starting to get annoying.

I have a Toshiba laptop and I really lucked up on finding it on sell. I bought it for about $250 off the regular price at wal-mart. It works great, though I really get a lot of pop-ups now and again. That's okay, though!

I use a Dell inspiron, and my main OS is Ubuntu 9.04. You can't complain about speed with that OS!

So yeah I use a laptop.

My dad recently updated a Toshiba laptop of his that I used before I got a eMac in my room. The Toshiba is a bit faster because it got switched from Windows to Linex but it is like so slow and crashes occasionally (well more like every 20 minutes...). Basically if the computer is at it's worst it will be almost done loading something which took 5 min and then the app will crash. Then it won't work until 10 min later it has finished recovering if it does at all. Sometimes it crashes when I try to turn it off which is really ridiculous

Never saw this!! Laptop, Sony Vaio running MS Vista Home with a whole boatload of built in RAM.

It runs faster on Avast than McAFee, I recommend switching to all Vista users as it speeds Vista WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY up.

I know a guy who still runs Win 98 (Ekim). Never gets a virus, either, as no one makes them for that system anymore.
