I believe that was the same elf who was singing before and after Eragon came to the city. My second theory is that it was in fact Arya... and he was in a complete daze. I noticed her, but just disregarded her as a weird detail or as in fact another person.

she's so minor she doesn't even get a name. JARSHA even got a name and he only was in two scenes where he says 5 words and leads Eragon to where he needs to go.

She could turn out to be important later, that makes sense, but I think that there is little chance that she will turn out to be Eragon's love.

exactly. RANDOM CHARACTER. She's an EXTRA, not even a secondary character. She was just for effect. And no, she was just singing. When he first got there, there was no way for her to know that he was coming at that very moment. Then when he left, it was either tribute or just her wanting to sing it again. NOT A BIG DEAL. It's just like having a poem before each chapter. Same sort of thing. I HIGHLY doubt she LOVES him. We only were alerted to her presence the two times that she sings and during The Blood Oath Ceremony, the elven version of St. Patrick's Day. XD Big deal. They were all drunk on magic and they swung around in a circle.

Well i don't think that she could be his mother because his mom is dead and it's highly unlikely to be his sister.

i actually think you've come on something really odd here. I remember when i read eldest i was wondering why he kept describing this one elf. I think it might be important, and if she was, there's probably a good reason for CP not to give here name.

I mean, if I was him (not that I am or think like him or anything) I wouldn't throw in a random extra like that and not have them do something later on.

Jayde, are you forgetting about Jarsha? He's done practically nothing and he got a name in the first book. He's only done one VERY minor thing in each book. I really don't see why CP bothered, but I guess he was bored, so he made up a name and stuck it on.

its the same w/ not giving a name. I mean for all i know this could just be some random unimportant event, but it didn't feel like that to me. There could be a blatent reason why CP didn't give her name. Firstly, that giving her name would give away something in the plot that he doesn't want revealed. Or it could be that her name is not of importance right now. (or that eragon was to "drunk" to remember )

maybe that's it, that he was just too drunk to remember. But all he remembers was her lips and her voice. I kinda doubt she could be at all important. And besides, unless she's a spellweaver, we probably won't see her again for a while... wait... nevermind... he has to go back there to finish his training... duh. but yeah. I really do doubt that she's going to become this really important character from being lips and a voice.

It is under my humble opinion that we are making a whole lot out of not much, if that makes sense.
His love interest is going to be Arya. End of story. She IS the only character that makes any sense with the plotline. They have the history together.

If she is the next rider........, I'll leave that to the book; that has been discussed to death and then some.

Haha, I have done that before. More than once I have woken up in the middle of the night to write a story. It usually turns out well with some odd turns of phrase, or it is incomprehensible. It puts a new perspective into writing, which can be useful.

when else would Eragon get into a drunken state? the only other time was when he got drunk off of faelnirv and that was only for the point of him admitting his feelings for Arya to Orik.

i think there is a possibility aslong as CP involves her in thenext book, say if she was part of the spell weavers group Izlanzadi sends to help Eragon

Eragom got drunk because of the spells and joined the festivities. He danced with a lot of elves saw a number or strange looking ones and mingled with them. It was a big party it was expected to meat a lot of elfs. She is just one of the crowd that's why she does't have a name. Even if she would reappear later Eragon couldn't possibly remember her.

I'd say that it does mean practically nothing. She was mentioned to sing once, then only dancing with Eragon while they were all intoxicated by the ambient magic in the air, and then she sung afterwards. I think she is there for the feel of the city, not as anything but part of the setting.

look, the setting was mentioned MUCH more than 3 times, as she was. If this were a movie, she would be scripted as Elf #73. EXTRA.

that's because none of them are important. And there were: Arya's guard while they were going to Ellesmera. The only important elves are Rhunon, Islanzadi, Arya, Vanir (to a point), and Oromis, not in order.

most of the time CP glosses over extra characters like the dwarves or elves, because he described this particular elf a little more may give him the basis to build a character on, maybe even 'Cherry Red Lips and a Beautiful Singing voice' is all that Eragon remembers of her so if he meets her again that's how he'll recognise her.

Actually, she wasn't mentioned an extraordinary amount of times in comparison with other minor characters. You cant call 3 times out of the ordinary. And really, one of those times was during the Blood-Oath Cerimony when NOTHING makes sense, so that doesn't really count. I still maintain that CP either wrote that drunk, was recalling something from when he was drunk, or he had a hazy dream where his senses were screwed up, kinda like being drunk.
