I like Rock!(I feel hyper!)

I like any type of rock, including Indie. Just now getting into metal but other than that i like the classics and i can stand country, R&B is cool sumtimes but can't stand Rap.

Rock's the way to go. I like hard rock, but there are good and bad singers and good and bad screamers. Ha ha.

I cannot help but notice the lack of Drum and Bass, Electro, Dubstep, Trance, Breakcore, Raggacore, Ragga, Reggae, Dub, Hiphop, R&B, Indie, Metal, Funk, Salsa, Noise, Ambient, Acoustic.

And I wish people would stop being automatically biased against Rap. At least listen to some good (non mainstream) stuff before you form an opinion, to avoid being ignorant.

Mainstream has some good songs too. The old school guys like Rakim.

The only thing I will not listen to is screaming, because it's artless in my opinion.
Indie rock tests my patience after a while, because it all seems the same.
Pop country is annoying, but the hometown stuff is where it's at.

Anything else, I like. Classical, Opera, Musicals, Rock, Techno Dance Etc. Just depends on mood.

Hmm, let's see.. mainly I like rock music, some alternative rock, and probably some metal. Oh, and of course Indian music.

Rap... eh, not really a fan of rap, but whatever they have in Linkin Park songs with Mike Shinoda is never bad.

Actually I like nearly everything bar:

Pop, pop rock, death/black metal (I never said I liked all metal...), dance and emo. But Thrash/Heavy/Power/Symphonic metal has to be my favourite.

Okay now instead of just saying that I am better than everyone else as per usual, I will ACTUALLY state my music tastes.

To start off, from birth to the age of 12 it was all out old skool Drum and Bass and Jungle, because my mother's friends hosted a pirate radio station in my house back in the day *shhh* and they played it all the time, so it pretty much runs in my veins.

Now, I seem to go through different phases. For quite a few years I was a dedicated, all out, 100% pure METALHEAD, seeing as after all the Drum and Bass it was interesting and new. I spent all day listening to Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Slayer, Mayhem, Lamb of God, Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden and the like.

Then I went into my Punk phase. Anti Flag, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Bracket, The Explosion, Sublime, Authority Zero etc, although I still loved my metal.

THEN I went into my Rap phase, but not crappy mainstream stuff, proper stuff like Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, Mr Lif, EL-P, Vast Aire etc. but I still loved Punk and Metal.

And now there is the current phase I seem to be in at the moment, I have gone back to my roots. I am ALWAYS listening to Drum and Bass, Trance, Techno, Electro, Dubstep etc. Artists like BAR9, Future Prophecies, Omni Trio, Calyx, Zomby, Rusko, Benga, Caspa, Ganja White Night, Koan Sound, High Contrast, Renegade etc. although I still love everything I used to listen to. Metal and Punk will always be in my heart

Well it has to be my least favourite kind of music... so yeah.

Mainstream rap is absolutely disgusting, but I hate narrow minded people who automatically say they hate ALL rap just because they have heard Mainstream.

i dont like country but becouse of my family i still know like every word to every country song that comes on the radio, im not really a rap person but, every once in a while ill have a rapish song that i like ( eminem- crack a bottle lol) but i love love love , rock , punk, metel , techno , music, and alot of alt. thats were my heart really lies. lol

crack a bottle is garbage in my humble opinion. beautiful is the best single from relapse.

rap is cool when they talk about what's on their mind instead of what the listeners necessarily "want"

I'm more of a seasonal listener... I've noticed that I didn't listen to any Linkin Park or the such at all over the winter, a lot of Shinedown and Papa Roach, (I can't remember if I've posted in this topic yet...) and I guess I can't say I dislike all of a genre, Country had a really good one, the Battle of New Orleans (it's funny, you'd have to listen to it) Rap has Lose Your Self by The Real Slim Shady... though Rap has lost a lot due to the "Drugs, Sex, and Money" theme often found in them...

I'm 100% metal. My current favorite band is All Shall Perish. They are HARDCORE. I hate mainstream rap. (Eminem is about the only rap I'll listen to, aside from the rapcore godliness that is RATM) I'm not a big fan of country music, but I'll suffer on in silence if I have to. The hip-hop/pop genre is a conditional thing. Occasionally there'll be a standout song among the literal thousands in that area, but it's rare.

Anyway, that's my worthless opinion on the matter.

Alex:: if you like heavier stuff you should check out All That Remains or All Shall Perish. Screamo I'd recommend is probably Chiodos or Escape the Fate, or maybe Signal the Escape.

Okay. lol. I wasn't sure if anyone on here had heard of All Shall Perish. But yeah I've heard of As I Lay Dying and they're pretty good, but I haven't bought a CD or listened to them very much. I think they're my next step though. lol.

I've heard of most of those. Rise Against is amazing, Slipknot owns, Demon Hunter is awesome, and the rest are really just names to me at the moment. lol.

meh. mainstream rap is for the people whose brains can't process real music.

(sorry to anyone here who loves mainstream rap, but that's my opinion and you ought to know how worthless an opinion really is if you've been alive more than five years)

As my French teacher said, whoever invented rap forgot the c- at the beginning.

Try to write and record a rap, then come back and say it takes no talent. It's a lot harder than you might think.
( I say this because I've been working on a couple songs for some time)

As for it being not good, that's a matter of taste. =)
