 Re: Coming homeSolarae watched as Paconio tackled down the shade, his sword poised at the other's throat. She was grinning, until she saw the dagger raised in the air behind Paconio's back. It was being manuevered slowly into position, its point turning in the air towards the elf.
Solarae silently jumped at it, trying not to draw attention to herself so that the shade might strike with it faster. She caught it in her teeth and pulled it away. Paconio, be careful! Re: Coming home Thanks for the save, I'll try to be more careful from now on Paconio said to Solarae. Paconio then grinned at the shade, a wide, knowing grin. The shade scowled, Solarae looked after Paconio pretty well.
As Solarae said, the shade literally had more tricks up his sleeve. He stabbed his hidden dagger at Paconio. Re: Coming home Solarae rushed forward as soon as the shade kicked away Paconio. As he jumped back to his feet, she was already there. The air around her was still aflame, and the fire threatened to lick at the edges of the shade's clothing and engulf it. Though, Solarae knew he probably had magic making him fireproof at that instant. He flung a dagger at her, and she ducked just in time. It was a good thing, too. The dagger was also enchanted, and wasn't melted in the intense heat above her as it should have been.

Re: Coming home Paconio grabbed his sword and rushed forward yet again. This time the shade was preoccupied with Solarae, so Paconio had the perfect opportunity to toss the shade around. Paconio went behind the shade, and in one quick movement, kicked him to the ground. The shade didn't know what hit him. Paconio then placed his foot on the shade's back, and somewhat looked like a great conqueror viewing his new land and declaring himself king.

Re: Coming home Solarae stuck her tail under the shade's legs as Paconio kicked him, causing him to trip and fall over with her friend rushing to stand over him. Solarae darted to the left and lowered her head to stare into the shade's eyes. This is the last time you will fight us, shade. This is your death, she hissed at him, her burning snout singeing his face a little just by being in close proximity. He sneered in reply. You are right: this is the last time we will fight. But it will be because of your deaths, not mine, he stated with an arrogant glower.

Re: Coming home Paconio didn't bother joining the conversation, he never was really interested in that kind of thing. In response to the shade, he just pushed his foot down on the shade's back a lot harder, making it more difficult to breathe for him. Finally, Paconio got the gut to actually say something, so he said, "Oh I don't know about that, I'm pretty sure it's game over for you, shady"
Oh what do you know, elf? The shade retorted. You wouldn't even be involved in this if you didn't possess a dragon egg, you of all people, don't have a place at the table with the big boys. Re: Coming home Solarae hissed at the shade, angered by his insults to Paconio. You are right, shade. I am a challenge for you, and so is he. In fact, we will prove far too much of a challenge and you will be killed, she stated. She was sorely tempted to set something on the shade on fire, just to watch something on him burn for a little while until he put it out. But she had to restrain her temper at least a little. It wouldn't do to behave like a hatchling.

Re: Coming home Paconio, angered by the shade, was so tempted to just stomp on the shade's head and feed his brains to the dogs, but he held himself in place. Paconio dropped his head to the shade's ear, and said "You know, I've been experimenting with some powerful magic. This magic is flexible enough to bring you from death's door to fully healthy and fit, but it can also destroy you from the inside out on my command. You wouldn't want that, now would you?" The voice was, yet again, sinister and evil. Paconio was going to have to stop the whole sinister voice thing if he wanted everybody to know he was on the good side.

Re: Coming home Solarae added her own low growl to the statement, enhancing Paconio's words to make the threat even more dangerous. She stepped forward, the shade's face being singed even worse in the oppressive heat from her scales. He let out a roar and another shockwave of magic propelled the two of them away, allowing him to get to his feet once more. Solarae hissed as she leaped back up, her temper flaring.

Re: Coming home Paconio jumped back up, realizing that the tables were turning themselves, still, he had to do as much as he could to stop this monster. Paconio rushed at the shade once again, but this time, he stopped right in his tracks when he was about a foot away from the shade. The shade and Paconio just stared each other in the eyes, obviously waiting for the right moment to strike. Paconio let a few blue sparks fly around on his fingers for emphasis that he was going to be the one coming out alive.

  IC: Solarae raced around behind the shade, but stopped dead in her tracks. Several daggers were rising into the air, seemingly of their own accord, but she knew it was the shade's doing. Her face set, Solarae ran in a circle as fast as she could around the shade, melting the daggers as she ran. But more were rising all the time. She desperately raced at all of them, for any one of them could hit her friends. Augustus was pretty helpless when it came to matters of magic daggers, except for Paconio. But if Paconio was saving Gus, he was vulnerable. The shade was infuriating. Finally, there seemed to be too many knives all in the air. They all suddenly struck, each aiming at a different target. There was no way Solarae could get them all in time. Just as suddenly, seeming in slow motion, her eyes began glowing like fire, and the flames licking at her scales turned into blue fading to yellow. Anyone seeing it would know that it was magic fire. All at once, the daggers burst into flame and melted. OOC: Yay! IC: Paconio gasped when Solarae melted all of the knives with ease with a rather strange power. Paconio grinned at the shade again, but this time it had a slight touch of sympathy. The shade's plans haven't really worked out that well lately. The shade scowled, really considering slapping Paconio across the face. He didn't do it, though, knowing that it would leave a large opening for one of them to kill him. Paconio decided that since Solarae showed Paconio her awesomely awesome fire ability, he would try to experiment with another magic formula he had thought of moments ago. He pointed a finger at the shade, ordering a few sparks of magic to go onto him. After they had all gotten aboard the shade, Paconio clenched his hand into a fist. "Ow!!!!!!!" IC: Solarae, her eyes still glowing oddly, and the blue/yellow flames still searing the air around her, stepped towards the shade. This ends, she stated simply, in a voice not quite her own. With a loud, explosive sound, flames suddenly appeared and were engulfing the entire building. They completely surrounded the entire group. Glowing lines appeared on the ground, stretching from the fire to the shade. The lines were pulsating with yellow and blue light. The lines converged under the shade's feet, and with a whoosh the fire leapt onto them and rushed towards the shade. He was too distracted by Paconio's burning sparks to notice, and the fire engulfed him. An agonized scream pierced the air, and the fire disappeared, but the shade was severely weakened. He sank to his knees, his body still smoking. Paconio. Quickly. Paconio, slightly confused about Solarae's strange voice, watched the shade's body smoke for a moment before deciding to 'finish the job'. He raised both hands in the air, allowing blue sparks to flood them. He released them all upon the shade, allowing them to form a cocoon, but not allowing them to heal him. After his let out all of the sparks he possibly could, he clenched his fist, and fell to the ground from the strength taken out of him. He hit the floor with a loud thump, but he was awake for a few seconds afterwords to feel the horrible pain. Paconio did not get to see what the sparks did, but he did get to hear a horrified and agonized scream that would haunt his dreams for years, and he did get to smell a very strong and smokey scent. _________________ The sacrifice is never knowing Why I never walked away, Why I played myself this way, Now I see your testing me pushes me away. IC: Solarae watched with a cold eye as the shade was killed inside the cocoon of spark magic. The magic fire filling her soul right now made her more cold, and more serious than normal. She didn't even flinch at the horrifying scream. Suddenly, she heard a sinister laugh from nearby. You fools. That was a decoy! the shade's voice cried from the flames to their right. But the decoy meant one thing: the shade was severely weakened from the effort expended. Solarae glanced over and saw him coming out of the fire with his magic, and another dagger. This dagger, she saw, would be unmeltable by her flame because of the shade's magic. The dagger shot at Paconio, who was on the ground in exhaustion. In the same instant, Solarae leaped in front of Paconio. The shade suddenly gave another scream, this time real, as his heart was incinerated in a blast of blue-yellow fire. And at the same time as his scream, the knife hit Solarae's chest with a dull thud. The flames peeled away from her body and disappeared, along with the glow from her eyes. Solarae toppled over beside Paconio. Augustus and Joe had cuddled up next to each other during the entire fight, each making sure the other was safe. When Paconio fell and Solarae was stabbed in the chest, Joe ran over to Solarae to administer care, but no matter what he did, he just couldn't seem to wake Paconio to give him the energy to heal Solarae. Finally, after minutes of frustration, Augustus ran up to Paconio's feet, and clamped his teeth down on one of his big toes, hard. It wasn't enough to make him bleed, but it would leave a bruise. Paconio awoke with a yell, now realizing where he was. Joe funneled all of his energy into Paconio "Take this, friend.  IC: Solarae coughed weakly, and a spatter of blood was coughed out onto the scorched stone floor. Her breaths came in weak spasms; she couldn't get a full breath of air, and was struggling to pull in oxygen. Her life's blood poured out onto the ground, soaking the floor around her. Paconio was already getting stained by the growing red pool. Re: Coming home Paconio got up, and slowly, he pulled the dagger out of Solarae. It was followed by more blood, but that could be dealt with later, there was a healing to do. He poured out as many sparks as he could and still remain on his feet. They all surrounded the wound, and healed it. The remaining sparks, separated from the one the sent them, went into Solarae's body, giving their energy to her. What Paconio did next was strange even for him. He got down on his knees, regardless of the blood, and hugged Solarae. He had never hugged a being from another species, so he wondered how it looked to anyone happening to watch.

Re: Coming home Solarae gasped for breath. Her muscles clenched in extreme pain as the dagger was pulled out, and then slackened. She felt the spark magic flowing into her, giving her strength and healing her stab wound. But she could already feel the damage inside her chest. She thought it might be too late. She suddenly felt very cold. P-Paconio... I-I... I'm sorry. I sh-should have seen him there... should have known... she struggled to say, coughing up more blood, I- I don't think I've ever had friends I c-... I cared more about... than you and Gus...I just wanted to tell you that... I guess I finally let my power go to my head, huh? Solarae gave a tiny laugh, which resulted in another drip of blood from her jaws. She felt colder, the coldness seeming to grasp at her soul.
When her vision was darkening, though, a sudden warmth flooded through her. Paconio's embrace seemed to renew Solarae's will to survive, and the spark magic within her took hold, giving her back lost energy. Her fighting spirit was reawakened, and Solarae knew that she wasn't going to die on that day. Her breathing evened out, and the last drop of blood fell from a tooth. She opened her eyes carefully, still feeling extremely weak from loss of blood, but healed. Her ordeal was over. OOC: Yay! Re: Coming home "It is not anyone's fault, Solarae, he had us played, but we still killed him. Solarae, we care about you too much to let you die here, I promise you that" Paconio said, not noticing that the spark magic was taking effect. He openly shed tears and sobbed like a baby until he noticed Solarae's breathing was evened out and that her eyes were open. He grinned and hugged her tightly. "I told you we wouldn't let you die on us" Paconio said with a laugh. It was all going to be all right!

 IC: Solarae rolled herself slowly onto her stomach with a groan, wincing at the sore area in her chest. She unfurled a wing and wrapped it around Paconio for a few moments, returning his hug and giving a silent thank you. When she refolded her wing, she gave a small laugh. You know, I think we've had enough near-death-experiences over the last couple days for twenty people, she said with a grin. She glanced around at the charred remains of the mayor's building, now a smoldering heap. Surrounding her and Paconio was a red stain on the floor, which Solarae realized was the remainder of her own blood. She glanced down at herself and saw that her chest and entire left side was stained red. Wow. We've really been through a lot in a relatively short amount of time, and that's an understatement. Anyone else hungry? she spoke with a grin. Though energy was returning to her voice, she was still exhausted from loss of blood. She gave a small grin, and glanced back down at herself. Ugh. I think I may have to wash this blood off before I eat, first, she said. For some odd reason, having her own blood staining her scales made her feel unclean, but if she had the blood of her enemies on herself, she felt fine. Maybe it was like a war trophy, and having her own blood was symbolic of her own defeat or something. Solarae shook her head, wondering why she bothered thinking of these things.

Re: Coming home Paconio nodded, already wondering what it would be like to hunt an animal. "First we'll find a river for us all to wash up in, then after we wash, I'll go look for something for us all to eat" Paconio said to Solarae. Paconio stood up then, and he walked over to one of the large gaping hole in the wall, and with his mind, he tired to find the nearest river, once he did, he pointed west and said "The closest river is over there", pointing in the direction.

She was walking much more slowly than usual, partially because she was exhausted, but also because she didn't want to rush and end up stumbling and falling or something. As long as she walked slowly, she had control and didn't stagger about like a drunkard. Woah... this lack of blood makes me feel all dizzy. Heh heh. I'd better not try to do anything too strenuous 'til I've eaten, she noted with a laugh.

Re: Coming home As they reached the river, Augustus grew excited. Swiming sounded like fun! When they finally reached the water, Augustus immediatly leaped in, already enjoying the cold feeling of it. Paconio walked in slowly, feeling self-conscious. The water felt pretty good compared to all of the fire he'd been exposed to lately. Joe walked very slowly into the water. The energy he had given to Paconio had limited his walking speed to not much faster than that.

Re: Coming home Solarae let out a long sigh as she stepped into the water. Though she usually preferred heat, coolness could be nice in its own way when it was refreshing and clean like this. Solarae rubbed her side against the rocks on the streambed, cleaning off the sticky blood. She then paddled back to the surface and rinsed her mouth out with some of the clear river water. She eyed the water surface and noticed that a cloud of red was flowing downstream from where she had been. This is nice. I wish I had more energy, though, or I could turn that little cove thing over there into a hot spring, she mused, already wishing the water was warmer.

Re: Coming home Paconio laughed as Solarae wished the water was warmer. "You can use my headband if you like" Paconio said, mentally slapping himsel for not using it in the mayor's office. It was always in dire moments of need that he forgot that it was even there! He wore a guilty expression, he could've healed everybody AND give Solarae the propper amount of energy if he had only remembered the headband was there.

Re: Coming home Solarae glanced at Paconio. Your headband? Oh, yeah, you have energy in that, don't you. Hey, if you don't mind, can I take enough to get me back to hunting strength? Then I can get food for myself and Gus, she suggested. She took a little energy out of the band, and hopped out onto the rocks next to a secluded pool next to the river. She grinned and the yellow-tinged-blue flames engulfed her body. Her eyes began to glow mysteriously. Pulsating blue-yellow light appeared under the water, and it was soon giving off a little steam. The flames around Solarae disappeared and she dove into the pool, which was now pleasantly hot. That's better, she sighed.

Paconio sighed from relaxation as a little of the warm water reached him. Paconio took a decent amount (for himself, that is) of energy out of his headband, already feeling the aches in his bones go away. Paconio even filled Joe to the brim with energy, feeling extra generous with energy for that moment. Besides, all of this giving away of energy would only result in one of the many jewels to become depleted.

Solarae disappeared into the undergrowth, taking in the scents of the forest. It wasn't long before she picked up the smell of rabbit, and an even shorter amount of time passed before she had caught it. The forest was brimming with wildlife, which provided an ample selection for Solarae's menu. In less than ten minutes, she had collected two pheasants to add to her catch, and returned to the pool. Little Gus licked his lips, already imagining what it would taste like. For some reason, his rider did not really like thoughts of meat, but remained neutral when Augustus thought of or mentioned it. Must be some kind of pointy-eared two-legs thing... He said to himself. He had a lot to learn about the world, that much was apparent even to him.

Almost didn't realize how hungry I was! she exclaimed, her energy already returning on its own. So where should we go now? That elf village obviously wasn't a good rest stop. Re: Coming home Augustus ate the entire pheasant in a matter of minutes, letting out an extremely loud burp as soon as he finished. Paconio laughed and went back to thinking of where to take Gus. "I really have no clue... The safest place would be... my house, but I'm not sure that any of you guys would like to walk for several days with next to no rest" Said Paconio, saying it as he thought of it. "Though, the shade is dead, I think, so I don't think we will run into nearly as much trouble" He added.

Re: Coming home "Good question..." Paconio said, still thinking of an answer. After several moments of thinking, he said "They can stay in a tree nearby, cloaked by magic. It may not be the best of choices, but they certainly can't be with us when this goes down" Paconio climbed out of the water, Augustus and Joe following. Paconio then guided Joe and Augustus to a tree that was pretty close to the water. As they climbed it, Paconio cast a spell upon the two that would make them invisible to any eye. Paconio then leaned against a rock and began whittling a stick, already starting the plan.

Is that right? Well, let's see how much of a tool I am now, you worthless, conniving, weasel-hearted scum! I'll show you a weapon! she cried, leaping forward. She took Paconio's shirt in her jaws and flung him to the ground, though was careful to let him go gently so it wouldn't hurt at all. However, she made the action look forceful, to fool any onlookers. Solarae was already getting the scents of a few evil creatures coming closer.

Re: Coming home Paconio got up just as quickly as he was flung, punching and kicking Solarae lightly, but making it seem as if it hurt a lot. His counter attack did last very long at all, but it was drawing lots of more evil creatures. After a moment or two of hitting Solarae, Paconio simply stood his ground and glared at her.

Re: Coming home Solarae pretended to reel back as Paconio punched her. She swung her tail at him and hit him in his midsection as he was standing, hoping he would pretend it was more forceful than it really was. She was actually somewhat enjoying this pretend fighting, though she had to be careful not to grin or laugh at their theatrics. Quick, roll to the side! she warned into his mind. Solarae made a quick motion for Paconio to roll out of the way, and when he did she blasted fire where he was, trying to make it look like he had dodged it just in time. I think we're attracting quite a few nasty critters, my friend, she said cheerfully into Paconio's mind.

Re: Coming home Paconio fell to the ground as Solarae swung her tail at him. Then, we he dodged the fire, he said to Solarae, This is going much better than I had thought, and it's pretty fun too! Paconio then jumped to the side and shot a few sparks at Solarae. They missed, as he intended, but doing something like that was making the fight much more convincing. Finally, a creature stepped into the light. Paconio pretended to ignore it, making it seem he was completely focused on Solarae.

Re: Coming home Solarae kept her eyes fixed on Paconio as she leapt forward, feigning her own attacks and dodging or recieving his as convincingly as she could. She was trying not to attack the creatures that were now surrounding them, getting closer and closer. Okay, I think they're all here, Paconio. I'm gonna tackle you now, and then when they rush in to kill both of us, we've gotta take out them all, she said warningly. She jumped forward and pounced on Paconio, tackling him to the ground. She was careful to break his fall with her own claws, though. This is it, Paconio! You are now my enemy, and all of my enemies die! she cried, raising her jaws and baring her razor-sharp teeth. I'll wait for your signal, she said into his mind as the various evil beasts drew in even closer.

Re: Coming home Well I know this sounds kind of cheezy, but... signal!!! Paconio said to Solarae, already breaking free of her grip and hacking at the evil creatures with his now-drawn sword. He cut off one's arm, while punching another in the stomach. If one thing was for sure to Paconio, it was that fake fighting was sometimes more fun than regular fighting.

Re: Coming home Solarae laughed and leapt free of Paconio. Her body erupted into flame, magic flame. The yellow-tipped blue fire swirled around her. Solarae reveled in the feeling of the magic fire. She could sense every one of the creatures in the vicinity, and every part of them. It was like her mind had grown until it encompassed everything within a square mile. She guessed that that must be how magic users felt when they used their magic.
Solarae engulfed all of the creatures on the outside in her magical fire. A pulsating yellow blue line completely circled all of them. If any of the creatures tried to escape, they would cross the line, and burst into flame. The fire surrounding Solarae died down, and she began to fight all of the creatures within her trap. Oh, my new power's so awesome! I just trapped all of the creatures, Paconio, so none of them can get away. Re: Coming home Good, good. I think we'll have them all dead in no time Paconio said to Solarae with enthusiasm. Paconio then spun around in a circle, sword extended from his arm, hitting any creature dumb enough to enter the circle. This went well for a few moments, until the creatures got smarter and jumped in at the same time as others. It slowed Paconio down considerably, but he figured the spinning trick wouldn't last very long anyway. Paconio then went back to just fighting one enemy at a time, shoving his sword through one's chest and kicking another one in the face.

Re: Coming home Solarae darted around, a chaotic bloodbath following her wherever she went. She found physical fighting more fun that fighting with her magic or fire, only using them as last resort weapons. She tackled creature after creature, ripping them apart with her teeth, talons, and tailblade. Each of her weapons was deadly in its efficiency and accuracy. Anything she decided to kill was dead within five seconds. She laughed as she saw several creatures try to make a break for it, only to burst into flame as they ran past her magic circle. They flailed around, screaming, for a few moments before dropping to the ground. Pfft. S'yer fault, dudes, she thought with a roll of her eyes, and proceeded to slice open an urgal with her tailblade.

Re: Coming home Paconio stuck his sword in the belly of yet another creature while pushing his arm in the other's face, as he had trained himself as a child. It worked until the creatures attacked him in threes, leaving a giant spot open for one of them to seriously hurt him. No matter all of the tactics Paconio tried, these beasts seemed to be flexible enoughto find a way around. Finally, Paconio did what he had to do. He shot a load of high powered sparks at each creature, burning them and possibly killing them in some cases.

Re: Coming home Solarae flapped into the air, darting over the heads of the various evil creatures and slicing open their heads and necks with her tailblade and claws as she flew. A trail of blood followed her in the air as she flashed about. This is really rather gory, she thought, giggling happily. She glanced over and noticed that Paconio was having a little trouble with his fiends. His normal tactics didn't seem to be working quite well against them. She flew over to him and finished off all the ones he injured with the spark magic.
Solarae surveyed what was left of the battlefield. There are only a few dozen left. We should be done in no time, she announced. With that, she dove after an urgal, tackled it to the ground and killed it, and then jumped off of it onto the chest of another urgal. Solarae ripped out its throat and was already attacking another as it was falling to the ground. She heard a group of kull coming up from behind, and whipped her body around to face them. Re: Coming home Paconio waved Solarae a thanks as she finished off some of the one's he had weakened. He then began to work on the rest, cutting the throat of one, and while it's blood soaked him, he kicked another beast in the belly, sending him flying right into the flame trap Solarae had set up. The body was incinerated in seconds, but not before you heard a desperate cry for help, of course.
Paconio then sliced his blade in an X shape across an urgals chest. The urgals shirt fell off, and blood rushed out of the X shape, making it look like someone purposefully did it like that. IC: Solarae grinned in reply and chomped her jaws down on another kull's neck. She whipped her head around, snapping the kull's spine, and then released its body into another group. As they were scrambling back to their feet, Solarae breathed a thick burst of flame over them as well. Hm. Not many left, she remarked, noticing that her circle of fiends was now much less crowded. She darted around, slicing into a few more of them with her tailblade, before she decided to finish it up. Come on, Paconio. It's time to go, she announced happily, flapping behind him and hauling him up into the air in her claws. Solarae set Paconio in a tree and perched on the branch next to him as blue-yellow flames engulfed her. Because it was magic fire, though, it did not scorch the branch or even heat the air around her. Her eyes glowed strangely as she stared at the circle she had created. The pulsating line slowly began to constrict, and the last of the creatures, having realized what it was, darted in towards the center. They huddled together fearfully, unable to escape their doom. The circle closed in towards them, and eventually it reached them and disappeared into a nonexistant point. Paconio watched the beasts slowly burn to death from the magical fire. "That's a pretty nifty trick ya got there" Paconio said to Solarae with a bit of a laugh. He uncloaked Gus and Joe, though he didn't think they would be in the same tree as he was. Them appearing out of nowhere right next to him nearly scared him enough to fall out of the tree! He was able to collect himself in time, though not before letting out a yell. After that was all over, Paconio grabbed Augustus and placed him on his shoulder, already making his way down the tree trunk. Little Gus was more than willing to oblige, though he was wary to stay away from the blood soaking Paconio's suit that he had yet to changed out of. "So..." Paconio said. I'm gonna have loads of fun with this, she exclaimed, bobbing her head up and down in excitement. She glanced over when Gus and Joe were revealed, and laughed at Paconio's startlement.
Solarae leapt down from the tree, landing neatly on the ground like a panther. Yes, we could do with a bit of rest. And more food. Re: Coming home Paconio, thinking of where to camp, said, "Considering the time it took to finish off all of those creatures, the best campsite would probably be on the edge of the forest over there" He pointed to a small slightly clear area in the edge of the clearing. Paconio also chose that spot because it was really close the the river, so if anyone wanted a drink, they wouldn't have to walk very far. He mostly did that because he was the kind of person that got up in the middle of the night to get a drink. Paconio waited for the others to reply before he started walking, wondering if they had any other ideas.

Re: Coming home Solarae clambered up into a tree. She disappeared for a few moments from the group, and reappeared just as suddenly as she had left, dragging a large deer along behind her. Sounds like a good place to me. Ah, time for a snack, she mumbled pleasantly, emitting a low flame over the carcass of the deer. Once it began to look thoroughly cooked, Solarae ceased her flame and took a huge, mouth-stuffing bite.

Paconio watched Solarae cook the deer with a huge grin, and after she took a particularly large bite, Paconio and the others began to walk to the clearing Paconio had pointed out. After they arrived there, Paconio immediately sat down and grabbed an apple out of a nearby tree. He took a small bite out of it, and squeezed the apple until all of it's juices were depleted. When she at last lifted her head, licking her jaws, she let out a small burp. Heh heh. That makes me feel better, she murmurred contentedly. She bounded energetically over to the clearing where Paconio was waiting. She raced over to the river for a long drink, and then rejoined her friends. Solarae trampled down a patch of ferns into a comfortable nest and curled up within them. Re: Coming home That sounds great! Augustus said, already overly excited about flying. He was already imagining it, being a humongous dragon, flying over the forest, and eating anything he wanted, all while carrying Paconio on him. It seemed like so much fun, with the wind underneath your wings and all. Augustus fell asleep that night particularly easily and calmly, dreaming of his flight.

Apparently she had rolled onto her back and had been biting at something, for her jaws were open and her tongue was lolling out when she woke. One wing was half-open, and one hind claw was stretching rather awkwardly into the air.
Rolling over, Solarae laughed at her own strange sleeping habits. She stood and shook herself, giving her wings a few small flaps to loosen them up. She strolled over to the river and took a few great gulps in preparation. Rise and shine, everybody! Re: Coming home Paconio, Gus, and Joe awoke from their sleep shortly after Solarae called for them. Paconio splashed his face with water, and then he ate another apple, this time eating half of the apple before drinking the juices and throwing it at a tree. It did the same thing as the other apple, and it even hit the same tree, completely covering the other mark.
Augustus flew up onto Paconio's shoulder again, already ready for their departure. He made a small noise that kind of sounded like a yawn mixed with a burp and a laugh, causing Paconio to laugh hysterically. Before they left, though, Paconio pointed out a large hole in his suit. He laughed it off, not really concerned. Re: Coming home As Solarae took off into the air, Joe and Paconio began their running. Little did Paconio know that this was about to turn into a large competition. After only a few moments of running, though, he did realize it. He sped up his pace, determined to beat Joe at his own game. Joe did the same thing, though grinning at Paconio as he sped past. Within a few moments they were running at full speed, shoulder to shoulder. Augustus was about to bite Paconio's ear off, but he decided he would save the yelling at him for when he got home.

Re: Coming home Solarae looked down, grinning. Those elves are fast! she thought with a small laugh. She swooped low over the trees for a better look, and saw Augustus's look of annoyance. Solarae dipped into the trees and flew right over the little dragon with a friendly smile on her face. Would you like to fly with me, Gus? Flying is much more fun than running after a pair of racing elves, and faster, she offered, hoping it would make Gus feel more cheerful.

Re: Coming home Augustus nearly fainted. I'd love to! He said as he hopped up onto Solarae. The wind hitting his face felt nice, and he prepared himself for whatever happened next. He also did not look to the ground. It would be quite embarrassing if he fell and became the worlds only afraid-of-heights dragon. Down below, Paconio stuck his tongue out at Joe like a spoiled two year old. Joe, in return, made a rather rude noise with his mouth. Paconio laughed, thus slowing him down quite a bit, but not for long. Joe had taken the free time to slow down a bit to possibly gain some energy.

Solarae broke through the green canopy and into the bright blue sky above, swooping around and keeping within scenting range of Paconio and Joe. So what do you think of the world up here? And in a few months after that, you'll be able to take Paconio with you, and you can both share in the fun of flying, she remarked happily.

Re: Coming home Paconio and Joe, completely worn out by each other, said to Solarae in unison, "A good nights rest would be nice". Paconio and Joe immediately dropped to the ground, sweat coating their entire bodies. Lucky for both of them, there was a fruit tree nearby, food and juice all in one. They ate the fruit like crazy, and they probably would have eaten all of the fruit the tree had to offer if they didn't fall asleep as quickly as they had eaten. Augustus laughed at them, very amused by their performance.

Re: Coming home Solarae snorted out a few laughs, amused by Paconio and Joe. I'll go catch us some food, kay, Gus? she stated happily. She didn't want to move far from the fruit tree, leaving the little dragon alone, but she didn't have to. Luckily, she practically stumbled upon a grazing deer, and took it down in a few seconds. She dragged it cheerfully back to the area around the fruit tree and cooked it as she saw fit. There. Eat as much as you want, she said to Augustus, sweeping out one wing welcomingly towards the deer. She left Gus to pick out what he wanted of the deer to get a drink from a nearby creek. When she returned, she began devouring the carcass herself.

Re: Coming home After Augustus had eaten his fill of the deer, he curled up under Paconio's arm. He fell asleep rather quickly, considering how he wasn't running or flying like everybody else. He dreamed of flying with Paconio and breathing fire and saving people, though little did he know that most of the dream was verbalized to everybody else during the night. Paconio and Joe would have been awoken by this had they not been so tired. Strangely enough, Augustus was disturbed several times in his sleep by a strange feeling in his body.
When Augustus awoke fully the next morning, he realized two things. One: He thought he was the first one awake, witch his mentally celebrated for. Two: His body was slightly longer from nose to tail. It wasn't much of a difference really, but Augustus was excited about it. Re: Coming home Solarae, as always, slept deeply, though her dreams seemed a little influenced by something else. She noticed how often Gus showed up in her dreams. When she woke up the next morning, she realized that his dreams had been projected to the others, and she shook her head with a laugh.
The orange dragoness yawned as she walked over to the others, and poked Paconio and Joe with the tip of her tailblade to wake them up. When she glanced over towards Augustus, she noticed he was slightly longer. Well, it looks like you're a fast grower, Gus, she said with a grin. She trotted over to the stream and took a long drink, ready to head out. Come on, you great lumps. They both ate quickly, and when they were ready to leave, they darted off without warning, leaving Augustus with Solarae. Competitive much? Augustus said to Paconio, causing him to slow down a bit. For that, he received a mental image of Paconio glaring, but in the end Paconio started to laugh.

Re: Coming home I wouldn't be very surprised if they did Augustus said as he climbed onto Solarae. Already, he felt excited being technically off of the ground. His dream came back to him, and it seemed so much closer now, it seemed like it wouldn't be long until he could do all of that himself. Then he remembered himself projecting it to everybody. Embarrassment rushed through his body, and if he were an elf or human or something of that sort, you could swear he was blushing.

Re: Coming home Solarae laughed as she sensed Gus's embarassment. Ready? she called back, and waited a few seconds before lifting off into the air. Her powerful orange wings carried them up through the forest canopy and into the morning sunlight above. She smiled as the sun warmed her. Solarae liked warmth, especially the warmth of the sun. Being up this far north was not very comfortable for her, but she wasn't one to complain.

Re: Coming home Augustus curled around one of Solarae back spikes, preparing himself for a short nap to dream again. His sleeping did not come, as he expected. He had slept too much last night to take a nap. To replace the real dreaming, he 'zoned out' and daydreamed. Just when Augustus was getting to a really good part in his day dream, Paconio interrupted and projected to everyone, We should be at my home shortly. It's not the easiest thing to find, but I leave certain signs that only I would recognize, and the one I found says we should be there shortly.
Relief rushed through Joe's body. He couldn't handle running like this much longer. Though little did he know Paconio cheated the entire time, using his headband for great boosts of energy. Augustus had known, but he never said anything about it. Re: Coming home Solarae continued the flight, glancing back at Gus when she felt his heartbeat slow. He seemed to be dozing off, and she grinned. Augustus would have no trouble flying, if he found it this relaxing. He would probably be a good flyer.
She looked down at the forest when Paconio announced that they were nearing his house, though she couldn't see him through the trees. She wouldn't be able to see the house either, from up here. Hang on, Gus, we're going to fly in the forest now, she called back, and lowered her body into a steady dive. Solarae swerved around several leaves and branches, and found an open space to fly right under the main branches of the trees. Re: Coming home Paconio slowed as they came upon his house. It was nothing special, being a small stone shack. Inside was a bedroom, and a kitchen. Outside, remains of demolished training dummies cluttered the area. Several broken swords were also present, symbolizing the point in time he didn't have his rider's sword. Small birds with yellow tags sat upon the house, singing as Paconio arrived. They flew over, and landed on his shoulders and head. Joe gave him a look that said 'You are such a freak'. To explain, Paconio said, "I, err... Feed them a little..." At least, that was how it started out. Eventually, they became his messengers, and then his army. "So yea... This is my house, make yourselves at home, guys" Paconio said. "Oh, and Solarae, I'll give you something to remember me by, if you like" He dashed into his house, and after a few moments, he returned with a headband, or if Solarae chose to wear it, more like a toe band. "It has some energy in it, if you ever run low"

Re: Coming home Solarae landed next to Paconio and Joe and examined the rider's house. It was a modest, normal-looking home, but she liked it immediately. It seemed like the perfect place for some rest and relaxation. Her eyes turned back to Paconio when he emerged from the entrance to his home carrying a small leather band. It looked wide enough to fit neatly around her forearm.
She grinned. Well that's very nice of you, Paconio. Thanks! she replied, taking it from him in one of her orange claws and slipping it carefully over the other foreclaw. Re: Coming home "Okay" Paconio called back, ending his water spell. "Help yourself to some of the meat I have in there. It was passed down through generations of my family to feed little Gus here. Obviously it was enchanted so it wouldn't rot. Don't eat all of it though, I need some of it for Gus, because it promotes total growth and growth speed, but do eat some if you're hungry, I don't want him to grow up too fast, you know?" Paconio had the meat hanging in front of an empty chest, the chest where Augustus's egg was kept.
Remembering Augustus's egg, he emptied out his pack. The egg shards were as green as Augustus was. Augustus sniffed the egg shards, not very happy to see it. I'm so glad to be out of that thing... I was in there for hundreds of years, you know. And I think the only reason I can talk is because I have these vague memories of dragons talking to me inside of my egg... Perhaps they were my parents! Later on I remember being talked to by elves that were working magic on me. They taught me almost as many words as my assumed parents did, thus my largely expanded vocabulary. He said all of it to nobody in particular, but he wanted to say it anyway.
