Aurora
Name: Aurora
Age: Four years
Gender: female
Race: lion (magically altered)
Skills: Enhanced Abilities: Aurora is a predator, plain and simple. She can silently stalk a target and get very close before they detect her. The experiments performed on her gave her new abilities though such as the ability to run twice as fast and jump twice as high/far as a normal lion and can outrun almost anybody on the ground. These abilities come from magic. Aurora can use her magic to run at speeds twice that of a normal lion but she can only keep it up for a minute at a time. She also uses magic to perform spectacular leaps that an ordinary lion could not do. However, these too are limited to only a few uses at a time. It usually takes several hours for her magic reserves to recharge after it has been expended. Aurora has no other control over her magic, at least not that she is currently aware of. (She doesn’t realize it yet but having an elf’s life force transferred into her body also made her immortal)
Intelligence: The experiment performed by Galbatorix’s men merged an elven mind with Aurora’s giving her a massive amount of intelligence. She is very analytical and can solve complex puzzles and think her way through situations that a normal lion would never be able to.
Hair: A light shade of golden brown. Her underside is white.
Eyes: - Amber
Home Village: None. She was born in the wild.
Parents: Unknown. She has no memory of anything before the experiment.
Siblings: A couple of litter mates, though she remembers nothing about them either.
Character Personality: As an ordinary lion, Aurora did not really have a personality. After her mind was merged with that of an elf (see history) she gained some of that elf’s personality as well as developing her own unique personality. Aurora respects all living creatures and tries to keep an open mind, a trait of the elven portion of her mind. Aurora considers herself to be a very beautiful creature but she sees beauty and grace in all forms of life. Aurora is brave but she also knows when to run from a fight. However she has a fiery spirit and does not take kindly to being disrespected, a trait of the lion part of her mind. She is also impatient and hates having to wait for something. Aurora is not particularly skilled in combat. Everything she knows comes from instinct. Aurora has gained a great amount of insight about two-legged beings via the elf’s memories but there are a great many things she still doesn’t understand as well. She does not understand things like prejudice and racism, or why some species consider themselves better than others. She does not understand why some people are kind and others are cruel to one another. Ever since the experiment, Aurora has been very lonely. She feels like an outcast because she no longer fits in among her own kind but she doesn’t fit in among people either. Aurora knows that she’ll probably never have a family because of this. The few people she has encountered run away in terror at the mere sight of her and some have even tried to hunt her. She hates being treated like a monster. Aurora desperately wants a friend. She doesn’t like being alone because, as a lion, she is a social creature. Because her mind was fused with an elf’s she has elf level intelligence. She is familiar with elven customs due to the elven memories she possesses but she is not very familiar with human or dwarven customs. Though she understands that the elves respect dragons, she personally finds them terrifying and wishes to avoid them. Though she has a fiery temper, it only shows if she is very annoyed. She would be a very loyal friend if someone gave her half the chance. Aurora has vowed that if she ever makes a friend, she will protect them with her life because nothing would be more precious to her. Aurora is picky about her appearance and spends about an hour a day grooming herself. She absolutely hates getting wet and can’t concentrate on anything else until she’s dry again. On a side note, Aurora also feels bad that an elf had to die in order for her to gain her new abilities.
Character History: Aurora started her life as an ordinary lioness. She was not intelligent and didn’t even have a name. She was nothing more than a simple animal. She was born into a pride in a far away land beyond the borders of Alagaesia. However, when she was three years old (adult age for a lion), everything changed. Strange men captured her using a baited trap and spirited her to Uru'baen where she was to be used in one of Galbatorix’s experiments. The king was interested in using animals as assassins. During the experiment, Aurora and several other animals were magically altered to increase their intelligence. However this failed and many of the animals died in the process. Finally, the king’s magicians attempted a radical new approach by transferring the minds and souls from captured prisoners into the remaining animals. For Aurora, they tried to transfer the mind and soul of a female elf into her body. It was an extremely painful process. Though the magicians successfully merged the lioness’s mind with the elf’s it killed all the other animals involved as well as the prisoners, including the elf. Aurora was the only animal to survive the process and while the magicians had successfully transferred the elf’s mind and soul into her body, she did not inherit any of the elf’s powerful magic abilities as they had hopes. The project was deemed a failure. However, because of the mind transfer and other experiments, the lioness now had elf level intelligence as well as the ability of telepathic communication. She retained the elf’s memories and emotions as well. As the lioness was locked in a cage, she began to experience these new emotions that she had never felt before. The most notable one was a need to make those who tortured her pay: she wanted revenge! That night when the guards came to feed her, Aurora attacked, overpowering the guards and ripping their throats out. She fled from the building. While an ordinary animal would have quickly been caught, the lion took advantage of her newfound intelligence and her stealthy abilities to escape undetected. She ran through the dark streets of Uru'baen and did not stop until she was outside the city and far from the scent of any humans. Aurora pondered these new emotions that she now possessed. The experiment had left her mind very unstable and she was not able to process any of the elf’s memories. However, after a couple of days passed, they began to come back. The lioness kept thinking of the name “Aurora” for some reason. She didn’t know why because her kind never used names. She thought of the men she killed while escaping. While it seemed like the right thing to do at the time, she suddenly felt an unbearable guilt about what she had done. Killing suddenly seemed wrong, which left the lioness even more confused. She even refused to hunt for several days, almost starving herself to death. Finally, as she slept one night, the elf’s spirit came to her in a vision. The female elf introduced herself as “Aurora”. She explained what had happened and although the lioness was at first confused, all the elf’s memories suddenly entered her mind and everything seemed to make sense. Aurora explained to the lioness that it was alright to kill animals for food but that it was wrong to kill people or to kill for pleasure. The elf spirit explained that although her body had died, her soul now lived on in the lioness’s body. Because the elf’s spirit now inhabited her body, the lioness decided to call herself Aurora as well. Aurora now understood the two-legged beings much better now that she could access the elf’s memories. However, she also retained many of her animalistic instincts, which included a need for companionship. Unfortunately, everyone she met seemed to fear her. As time went on, Aurora became extremely lonely. She knew that returning to her homeland would be pointless because she was no longer an ordinary lion. She was a freak and an outcast, alone in the world. Aurora has since then roamed the land, hoping to find a friend somewhere.
Weapons: Claws and teeth
Likes: Nature, exploring new places, having a friend
Dislikes: dragons (She doesn’t hate them, she just fears them. She’s never met one before), being hungry, being lonely all the time, getting her fur wet (she’s a cat), the Empire because of what they’ve done to her.
Weakness / Fear: Aurora hates being alone. She is a social creature and needs a companion. She is generally friendly but she can be impatient sometimes and has a short temper. She is not very skilled in combat, being more of a hunter than a fighter.
Animal Companions: None
Character's Physical Description: Aurora is a beautiful lioness. She has a coat of golden brown fur covering most of her body. Her underside is white and she has a dark brown tuft of hair on the end of her tail. She is about the size of an average lion, standing three feet high at the shoulder and about eight-and-a –half feet from head to tail. Her eyes are amber. She is not particularly muscular though. Her enhanced abilities come from her magic, not physical strength. Being a female lion, Aurora does not have a mane. Aurora can speak telepathically but not verbally. She speaks with a gentle voice.
Dreams for the Future: To find her place in the world.
Reason for Dreams: She feels like an outcast and just wants to have a sense of belonging. To be unneeded/unwanted is a terrible feeling.
Alignment/side: Neutral.
