Post Tempest Night
[looking to get back in the swing of things.]

A loud crackling storm could be heard throughout almost the entire mountain range of the spine. Everything was dark, with the exception of bolts of lightening shooting through the sky webbing through the clouds. The large crash of thunder followed behind. Winds started picking up as they whipped through the trees, snapping limbs and throwing branches to the ground. The sounds of whole trees falling could be heard in the area as Zil'caron, Silvera and their young took cover in one of the many caves the spine had to offer. Zil'caron, is everyone alright? she asked him watching him come back inside their cave.

Yes, everyone was inside. It appears that this storm is going to last for a while, so we may as well get comfortable.

Do you think Galbatorix is behind it?

I don't think even Galbatorix has magic strong enough to where he can control the weather. After this storm though, we'll need to make sure that we have enough resources here to survive. IF not we may have to move the clan. Zil'caron told her watching lightning scattered across the sky once more. The storm was stronger than most of the others that indeed passed through here, but he was convinced that Galbatorix had nothing to do with it. In any even he was far too far away in order to be able to easily sustain such powerful magic to begin with.

Something had to be done though. He knew that. Within the clan there has been talk about what should be done. Whether they should try to attack Galbatorix head on, or if they should try to reason with him. Zil'caron and Silvera both knew that was not an option.

What do you think we should do? These lands aren't any better than the lands that we left were. The chaos here is just as heavy as it was in Worloch. We can't just idly sit back and watch another land fall into the darkness like our how did.

WE can't go into a fight that we know is going to get us killed either. The point of us fleeing Worloch was so that we could survive.

And we came to a land that is in just as much Chaos as our homeland. They need help Zil'caron. We have to do something

I don't know what we can do. I'm only seven years old, and you aren't any older. There are dragons here that have been fighting him since they were our age and are much older than us. IF we tried to do anything at all we would just be in the way. As much as I want to help, I don't think we are strong enough.

Then we just have to get stronger Zil'caron. We can't let another land, another home fall into chaos. We'll do what we have to, but I AM NOT running anymore. We ran away from our own home, and this land has provided us with shelter. It would be unethical to not help everyone here.

I suppose you're right. I don't even know who to talk to or where to go to get any help with training though. Maybe if we talked with some of the humans within the local towns here. Hopefully some of them are still friendly to dragons. he told her moving towards her and laying next to her in the den while another loud roar of thunder spread through the mountains.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Sarai glanced back at her mother, worry in her eyes as the gold-lined-with-amethyst struggled to walk along the ground with her head bent and eyes closed. Just a little farther, Momma. I sense a cave, I swear I do. she called back. Jia sent a grim flicker of acknowledgment with her mind and continued to try and stay on the ground. The black-lined-with-gold looked ahead and concentrated, for once using her powers for a purpose. She reached them outward, searching for the shelter she had sensed earlier. She found it, thank whatever gods there were. She ran back to Jia and touched her shoulder. This way, Momma. We're almost there. she said, for certain this time. Her mother heard the difference in her tone and picked up the pace. After a few more minutes of struggling through the powerful gale, Sarai felt the entrance of the cave just a few paces in front of her. But it was not empty. She grit her teeth. They didn't have a choice. She nudged Jia's mind to alert her to the danger. The gold-amethyst growled softly but kept walking. They entered the cave and relaxed, though minutely. The black-gold hatchling pulled back as her mother raised her head.

- - - - - - - - - -

A deep, threatening rumble vibrated in Jia's chest as she curled protectively around her daughter, scanning her gaze over the interior of the cave. Her eyes were still adjusting to the abrupt darkness, so all she saw was two huge shapes. She shook her head and blinked her eyes, impatient. She hesitantly sniffed and was surprised to catch something that was draconic. She tightened her half-circle around her daughter, the rumble still reverberating around the walls of the cave. My name is Johdzsia, but if you are a friend then feel free to call me Jia. This is my daughter, Sarai. she said, motioning to the hatchling that peered curiously between her forelegs. I apologize if we have intruded on your territory. The last time I was to this cave it was unoccupied. she said guardedly, eying the two warily. Sarai nudged her leg sharply and she lowered her head to the black-gold. They have little ones too, at least two, maybe three. I can feel their breathing. whispered the dragonet. Jia nodded minutely and lifted her head back up.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Hawke struggled to carry his dragon, Elisa, as the storm around him only worsened by the second. If it hadn't been for his enhanced vision, he would only be traveling aimlessly through the Spine.

Elisa nuzzled her head against Hawke's chest and purred softly. If he had leet her walk, her small body would probably be thrown around by the harsh wind. Hawke himself had to practically plant his feet into the muddy ground to continue on. This was a rare storm indeed. However, he could make out a cave nearby. However, he could sense presences inside of the cave, but he didn't know how much more he could go on carrying Elisa in this storm. It was either hide in that cave for the storm or find shelter under trees, which would be dangerous due to the falling branches and trees.

Hawke knew that the Spine was dangerous terrain, but this was the first storm he had seen in a while, and it was the worst storm he had ever seen period. As he came up on the cave, he could make out several large forms, almost every one larger than his own. "I am sorry for the intrusion," he said, letting down Elisa. "But we cannot brave this storm much longer, and she will not get hurt," he proclaimed, referring to Elisa.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Zil'caron and Silvera both laid in the back of the cave curled around each other. they were just about to turn in for the evening, and Zil'caron was thinking about what was spoken between him and his mate. Silvera was right, but he was also correct. They needed to help this land in any way they could, but he felt that they were far too weak to be of any use. He had met some of the other dragons that were in the lands of Alagaesia and they were far stronger than he, and even they feared Galbatorix. He honestly wasn't sure what they would be able to do to help at all.

He was about ready to speak once again to her when he heard movement outside. He instantly looked towards the entrance of the cave. His gaze locked on the two new dragonesses that had just flown into their cave. One of them, the larger of the two, appeared to be completely exhausted. It looked as if they have been trying to go through such a powerful storm, and the wyrmling no older than just a few months. He wasn't entirely sure what their intentions were, but given their conditions, it was safe to presume that they were not hostile.

Silvera looked over them as well trying to make sure there wasn't anything that he was over looking on them, but she didn't really see anything that was threatening. She saw the larger dragoness curl around the smaller one protectively, and then they both listed as the larger one spoke. My name is Johdzsia, but if you are a friend then feel free to call me Jia. This is my daughter, Sarai. she said, motioning to the hatchling that peered curiously between her forelegs. I apologize if we have intruded on your territory. The last time I was to this cave it was unoccupied.

You aren't intruding at all. If anyone needs a place to stay during such a violent storm, as long as they are friendly, we don't mind providing shelter to them, and especially to a fellow dragoness and her young. I would never deny shelter to anyone that had little ones present. Silvera said smiling softly looking towards the hatchling as Zil'caron began talking.

Indeed, and we only recently acquired these lands. They did not hold the scent of any others so I was unaware that they had already been claimed. My name is Zil'caron, leader of the Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr. We are originally from the lands of Worloch to the north of Du Weldenvarden, he said noticing a figure moving into the cave from behind. It appeared to be human in nature, and he was also holding a small silver dragoness that looked much like Silvera did, but with silver eyes.

it appears that there was more than one of you that got caught out in the storm. Make yourselves at home we have plenty of room as we have three young of our own. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask, he told them laying back down with Silvera

Jia dipped her head slightly in gratitude, blinking her eyes one last time. She started when she heard a voice behind her, and shifted to look back at what appeared to be a human male with a dragon hatchling. She huffed softly. Dragon Riders were popping up everywhere it seemed. Even the dragons of our Ancestors would have had difficulty with this gale. she said in what she hoped was a soothing tone. She curled up and laid down, trying to keep her daughter by her side, but of course the black-gold slithered away from her. She contemplated making a scene about it - surely she wouldn't be blamed for being overprotective at the moment - but then decided not to. She knew Sarai was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr? she said, tilting her head. The name sounds familiar to me. I believe I've heard it mentioned before, though I can't remember from where. she murmured, and frowned slightly.

- - - - - - - - - -

Sarai scampered over to the knew silver female hatchling, her eyes bright. The black-gold was bigger than her by about a foot. Shame on you for bringing her into a storm like this in the first place. she scolded the human, glaring at him in an affectionate way. She sighed, then went behind him and herded him toward her mother. Sit with Mom and let the fire in her belly warm you. I'll take care of your bond partner. she said firmly, pushing him forward in the small of the back with her snout. She turned back to the little silver hatchling and smiled warmly at her. Hello little one. I'm Sarai, but you can call me Rye if you want. What's your name? she said, extending a wing out to cover the smaller hatchlings body.

"It wasn't storming when I came here," Hawke retorted quickly. He would never intentionally bring his Elisa to danger. He then chuckled, "Yes, my apologies. I would never bring her into harm's way intentionally," he explained seriously. He glanced at the small dragon as she pushed him away from his dragon. It angered him slightly, but he figured that she would take good enough care of Elisa. He bowed to those who hung in the back of the cave. "You have my thanks for your generous hospitality. My name is Hawke." He glanced at the dragon curiously as he mentioned anm organization. "The Dragons of Fire, right? I haven't heard of them before. But then again, I only recently got into the outside world."

Elisa glanced at the other dragon with large, curious silver eyes. The dragon seemed to be really kind. My name is Elisa she replied. "It is nice to meet you Rye[/i] Elisa greeted eagerly. She and Hawke haven't seen much people, and have seen hardly any other dragons before.

Post Re: Tempest Night
We are a very small clan. In fact I don't even think our numbers are large enough to really be considered a clan. At the most there are only fifteen surviving dragons from our old city of Dracondor to the north. Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr is very small, and I'm surprised to find out that others have heard of us. Though I suppose the numbers of dragons in this region have been down for a while. I know that when we came to the Spine there were no inhabitants here. Dragon wise at least. Zil'caron told them.

He was quite surprised that someone outside of the area knew of this clan or has at least heard of it enough to where the name sounded familiar. He had only met a couple other dragons in this lands outside of his own clan. He figured that the dragons that he did meet got around rather well and spoke of the area. Not that he was complaining of course. I twas just something that he found odd. Maybe that meant that some others might want to come and help them as well. He was still very young himself though and wasn't sure how he had fared up to this point. He has very little experience leading an entire clan and he wasn't planning on taking on this role until he was much older.

He then heard the human talk about how he hadn't heard much about them, but he had only begun his journey to the outside world. He listened as well to the other little one that scolded him about bringing the silver hatchling out into the storm, and he immediately jumped back saying that it wasn't storming when he brought her into the Spine.

Perhaps not, but The Spine is a dangerous place for one of her size even when the weather is nice. However, seeing as both of you... he started pausing as lightning struck right outside the cave. The crash of thunder was almost deafening in it's proximity to the cave and Zil'caron instantly stood up and moved past the other dragons and the human to check outside. We got lucky, he told them shaking his head to get the ringing out. It hit the earthen rock and not the trees. Is everyone okay from the loud blast?

Silvera laid there as the dragons talked just staying around her sleeping young. for the most part the newcomers seemed goodhearted and were just looking for a place to ride out the storm. A place that she would be more than happy to share with them as long as they continued to be goodhearted and treated them nicely which she didn't think was going to be a problem.

She watched as they continued to talk. Apparently the name of their little clan has gotten around some how and as Zil'caron stated she was moderately surprised that the word had spread around about the clan and more importantly, she hoped that the word that had been spread was of good and not derogatory. She simply smiled but quickly jumped at the lightning strike. It was very loud and she felt the hatchlings start to stir from it. she quickly hushed them though and made sure they went back to sleep. When Zil'caron asked if everyone was okay, she nodded.
We're okay. The young woke up for a brief moment or two but settled back down quickly.

Like he said though I am greatly surprised that news of us traveled. though I guess an entire clan coming into a new lands is enough to attract the attention of some. It was certainly enough to attract the attention of Galbatorix. He's sent his goons here several times to try to hunt us down, and they nearly killed one of our hatchlings. Thank the ancestors I know healing magic.
She told them looking towards the two smaller ones.

Both of the little ones are quite beautiful. You both must be very happy and proud respectively. Your little one looks exactly like my mate. She spoke, the last part being directed to the older dragoness laughing a bit at the comment. Like Zil'caron said though, stay as long as you like. We really have no problems with visitors as long as they are nice to us, and you've been plenty nice so I see no reason why we couldn't be friends. She told him beaming a smile towards all of them.

Jia listened quietly to Zil'caron as he spoke, curious despite herself. It was a nice break to just relax and not worry about the next day or how fast they were traveling. She flinched, her head lifting sharply, as the bolt struck just outside. She nodded absently. Yes, fine. she assured the black-gold male. She twisted her head to her daughter and was relieved to see her safe, shielding the little silver hatchling. She looked up at Silvera and smiled slightly at her. It turned to a frown though at her mention of that fell king. She snorted scornfully but didn't speak. If she started talking about Galbatorix, then Shruikan would get into the conversation, then Sarai would get upset about the darker nature of her father. She sighed, then smiled again at Silvera. Thank you. she murmured at the praise of her daughter.

- - - - - - - - - -

Sarai huffed at the human. Oh, put your dander down. I was only teasing. A little. she said, and grinned at the male named Hawke. It's nice to meet you too, Elisa. she chirped happily. Her head jerked up as she felt the crackle of something powerful begin to touch the earth. Her muscles bunched and coiled automatically, sending her springing toward Elisa. She pushed the smaller hatchling farther into the cave, protecting her with her own body and wings. Her scales bristled and she flinched at the loud sound but stayed put in front of Elisa. She glanced back at the silver, her gaze concerned. You okay, Elisa? she asked quietly.

Hawke flinched as a powerful burst of lightning struck outside, producing an extremely large roar that hurt his sensitive ears. Hawke immediately looked towards Elisa in safety, but Sarai had already spirited Elisa away. "Yeah, I'm fine for the most part," Hawke said, rubbing his ears irritably. He detested loud noises. Hawke smiled gently at the compliment of his bonded partner. "I thank you as well. She truly is all I have," he murmured.

Elisa quivered in place from the loud boom. She had never heard something so loud. Yes, I'm fine she replied shakily. Hawke walked over to his hatchling and settled down beside her and scratched her chin.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Zil'caron waited for everyone's response to make sure that they were okay before he made his way back to lay back down next to Silvera. The last thing he needed was another dragon from outside his clan to come into the spine and get hurt somehow in his cave. That would only lead to disaster, and a situation that he wasn't sure he would be able to respond to. He shook the thoughts from his head. Nothing happened so it was pointless to think about what could have happened and get worried over nothing. He did notice a cringe when Silvera mentioned Galbatorix, it was slight, but noticeable.

He must have gotten to them somehow as well. It wouldn't surprise me. He's gotten to everyone else, and that black monster even showed his face here once. he thought to himself catching a lingering scent in the room. He looked to the hatchling and then back to the dragoness that said she was her mother. It clicked, and he instantly nodded and turned towards Silvera.
Do not speak of the king anymore. We don't want to upset our guests. He told Silvera directly into her mind. He turned towards the other two in the four beings in the room. So where is everyone from? Are you natives to this land or have you moved here from the outside lands as well? He asked trying to change the topic and move it into a hopefully more decent direction.

Silvera nodded to Jia. It was not a problem at all. She responded to the thanks that Jia had given her. She did notice the cringe as well when she mentioned the king of these lands, and then she heard in her mind Zil telling her to drop the subject with the king. Silvera nodded instantly and backed off. She watched the watched the two hatchlings look after each other after the lightning strike and just smiled. It already appeared as if the two young ones would make good friends and she was debating on whether or not she wanted to wake her young up so that they could go and play with the others as well. How old are the two little ones? She asked out in the open to either let the rider and the mother answer or the two hatchlings to answer if they so chose to.

She couldn't help but keep her smile on. The young were just so beautiful, and it was always nice to see little ones running about. She thought back to the painful time when she was laying the three eggs of their own and how painful that was. Granted they were a lot earlier than expected and she was quite small to have been laying her first clutch to begin with. She found it funny how only a little over eight years separated herself from her young. She wondered how many other dragons had young so soon after coming into the world themselves, and she wondered what the others would think of her if they found out how young she actually was and having young of her own.

Jia smiled at Zil'caron. I am from Alagaësia. I was hatched near Dras-Leona, at the base of Helgrind. My brother, Zeke, his mate, Savania, and a friend of his, Phalynx, came to spirit me away to the mountain range at the edge of Du Weldenvarden. she said, and had to shake her head. My brother is the worst whenever it comes to my safety. Even now, when I'm nearly two months away from being a year old, he still treats me like a hatchling. He's worse than my own father. she said, and grinned at the thought. She dipped her head to Silvera, her teal green eyes shining with pride for her daughter.

- - - - - - - - - -

Sarai nodded at Elisa, trusting that she spoke the truth. She glanced at Hawke when he came over to sit by the silver hatchling. She didn't object. With their bond they probably were more comfortable being together anyway. She lifted her head proudly as Silvera asked how old she was. Her black-lined-with-gold scales rippled with the movement as her muscles stretched and coiled. I'm two and a half weeks old. she said, her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes glittering softly. I was hatched in the Beor mountains with Momma and Ka. Ka is Mom's Rider.

Hawke sat, his elbow resting on his knee as he pointed a thumb at Elisa. "She's a little under a month." Elisa was surprisingly small for her age, but it mattered not to Hawke. He thought about the supposedly evil King as they spoke of him. Of course, he had never met or seen the King in the first place, but he didn't like Galbatorix based on what he had heard about him. "I lived in Dras-Leona for the first year in my life, and Elisa hatched in the forests near Furnost," Hawke said. Hawke didn't elaborate more at the time. Furnost was a small town not too far from Dras-Leona. It was south east of the city, and just east of the city Melian where he had been in an Experimentation building. Elisa's eyes darted around curiously as she took everything around her in.

Zil'caron watched and listened as everyone started to explain where they were from. Apparently everyone else here was native to the lands here. So they knew a bit more about what was happening in the lands that what he did. He understood the basics. the king wanted to destroy everything the dragons were trying to protect everything, but the one thing he didn't know was why. Every being is born innocent until something happens to change them. He wanted to know why Galbatorix was the way that he was. What happened to the evil pair that drove them to evil? What benefit does he have for wanting to destroy everything? Is that actually what he wants or is that what everyone has been saying?

He wasn't going to say that he was innocent. That wasn't the case at all. He has killed so many dragons that there was no saving him at this point in his eyes. He listened to the two dragoness and found out that both of them were not even a year old yet themselves. He was a bit shocked about the news, but he thought nothing of it. He also knew that Silvera would feel a lot better now about having her young as young as she was after hearing them herself. He also heard the dragoness mention her brother, and how protective he was of her. It sounded like he cared for her a lot, and he was going to made sure that she remained okay. He didn't want an older dragon getting upset with him or his clan because he let something happen to her.

He then heard the human say that he was from Dras-Leona which was in the south. He also mentioned that she was a little under a month old.
It is an honor to have ones as such in our presence, and we will do everything in our power to make sure you stay safe in these mountains. Whatever we can do to assist or make you more comfortable while you are within the lands, don't hesitate to ask. he spoke with a grin. didn't last very long though as his thoughts drifted back to his old home.

I will say though, the storms here are far more violent that they were at our old home. It could be because we are a lot closer to the coast than what we were before. he told them looking out the cave entrance. The rains continued to pour. Nothing appeared to be changing outside. So tell me, you mentioned that you had heard of the clan up here, he said turning to the two females that had mentioned it before. Has the information that's been mentioned about us been of good or ill omen? for I assure you we mean no Ill will in this land. we just merely wish to co-exist if the dragons of these lands would let us. he asked them not knowing whether or not he wanted the actual answer to that question or not.

Silvera continued to lay back in the back of the cave with the young and listened to everyone. Apparently she was the oldest dragoness in the room, and that left her in a bit of shock but relieved at the same time. We're from the old city of Dracondor, and we're still quite young ourselves. Zil'caron is only seven and I'm only a year older. His father was the old alpha of the city, and he was killed in the assault. I don't know how we are going to be able to manage taking his place as young as we are, but we're trying to do the best we can. So far everything has been well, and to our knowledge we haven't made any major mistakes.

The only thing I really fear, is the fact that we may not have the capability at the moment to be able to defend an entire clan. Galbatorix ransacked our city before when we had everyone. Now that there are only fifteen of us in our clan left, if he found us we would be slaughtered.
Silvera spoke telling them a little bit of where they were from at all.

One thing that we do have though that came from our lands is small amounts of magic. I know limited healing magic, and Zil'caron can use a lot more than I. It's the only advantage that I know that we have, but I don't know if our magic alone would be enough. If you know of anyone that would be friendly to dragons that would be willing to help teach us control our magic better and how to strengthen it. We might be able to put a stop to the king. Silvera finished sounding a bit hopeful about her question and beliefs. She only hoped that her hopes wouldn't be crushed by the black figure sweeping over the top of them any time soon.

Jia shook her head with a slight smile. If you think this storm is violent, you should see the hurricanes that streak through the Beor's occasionally. It seems like the mountains themselves should be uprooted. she said, and shook her head again in awe of the memory. To Zil'caron's question she looked him in the eye as she replied. Even if I had heard ill of your clan, I would not have put credit to it until I met you. I get to know a person before I pass judgment on them. she said simply, and shrugged her shoulders a bit. She twisted her head to look at Silvera as the dragoness spoke. She was quiet once the silver had finished speaking. She sighed, and abruptly she looked very old and weary. Galbatorix can not be stopped that easily. she said softly. Few people know the source of his power, but I do. It...is not a good knowledge to have in ones mind. she hesitated and glanced at Hawke. She didn't know him but even more than that she didn't know Elisa. She didn't want to speak of the Eldunarí in front of a Dragon and Rider pair so newly bonded to each other. Ka had been told once Jia had given him the Mark out of need, so he would understand why the King could not be so easily stopped. As for your magic, my brother can control it himself, though his is not the Draconic Magic, it is the Elven Magic, of the Ancient Language. I'm not sure if he could help you, but I could ask for him to try. she offered, tilting her head. She winked at Hawke, grinning at the human. You and I were more or less born at the same place, then. she said, and chuckled lightly.

- - - - - - - - - -

Sarai glanced at Elisa and, deciding that the silver hatchling was safe with Hawke, put her nose to the floor and began sniffing. She smelt the three hatchlings as well as sensed them with her powers, and began to head in their direction. Silvera was curled around them at the back of the cave, letting them sleep. She peered curiously over the silver's tail and looked at them. Her sightless pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes warmed with tenderness; she wanted hatchlings some day. They feel very healthy. she commented quietly to Silvera, not wanting to wake them. She twisted her head around to look at Zil'caron, curious of the big male that seemed to be the same color as she was. She'd thought she was unique. She was actually happy that she wasn't the only black and gold dragon. She turned and padded to the male black-gold's side and stopped beside his left paw, beaming up at him. Your a bigger version of me. she said, her eyes bright, and chuckled. Have you ever met my father? she asked curiously. She felt her mother stiffen slightly but ignored it; she wouldn't hide who she was, even from strangers.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Star Gazer flew through the storm, fighting the wind with her powerful wings, yet even she, the queen of the Dragon Mountain, had to admit defeat. Her rider sat atop her, her hair flying around her, wet tendrils plastered to her face, and her neck. "Star, we must land!" Reb shouted to be heard over the wind. Lighting flashed passed them and Reb huddled closer to the bulk of Star Gazer.

Star Gazer looked around her, searching for anything to save them from the storm, not wanting to chance getting struck. The storm was fierce, and buffeted Star Gazer with the wind, almost as if forcing her from the skies. Her large wings being twisted back and forth as she rode the currents. She looked at the landscape below her, nothing promising revealing itself.

Star Gazer, in a burst of power, tried to force herself above the storm, but the wind and rain refused to let her rise, instead causing her wings to become weighted down. Star Gazer roared, as her wings wrapped around her, and both she and her rider fell into a dangerous dive. She struggled to free herself.

Reb threw her hands out, the water freezing on Star's wings, the falling off. "Come on girl just a little bit farther. We just have to find some where to land safely. She pressed her hands to Star Gazer's back as her dragon righted herself in the air, and shot forwards. Her hands heating up Star's back.

What seemed like hours, but was really only minutes later Star Gazer spotted a cave. She dove for it, and landed gracefully in the entrance, folding her massive wings up. Reb slid to the ground as they walked into the cave, but to their surprise there were others there.

"You are truly too kind," Hawke muttered his appreciation at their hospitality. Some dragons were territorial, and it was extremely fortunate that they weren't. "I don't know of a dragon that can control magic willingly. Elisa's the only dragon I've talked to before today," Hawke said, slightly sheepish. His ears perked up as his heightened senses heard powerful wings beating through the air. Hawke knew that whatever flying creature was outside, they too were restricted by the irritating storm. A dragon landed inside the cave, and another, obviously a two-leg, slid off the dragon's back. Hawke felt slightly greatful that he wasn't completely surrounded by dragons though. The dragons were kind, generous, and selfless he knew, but it still relieved him a little. Hawke glanced at Elisa as she walked off farther into the cave. She seemed to be walking to where Sarai had previously went. He also sensed several small consciousnesses over there. Larger than any sort of bug, but also very young. "Hello," Hawke greeted to the newest inhabitants in the cave.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Zil'caron smiled as he watched the smaller female Sarai. He listened to her mother talk as he watched her walk over to Silvera and look at the young that they had, hearing Jia mention that even if she had heard ill about the clan she wouldn't credit it until she had actually met the clan. Zil'caron nodded and smiled. I appreciate that. he told her as Silvera spoke. She spoke about how the king had destroyed Dracondor and how that she didn't know how they would be able to support everyone with as young as they were.

I must say that I agree with the first part of that. Even I myself don't knot if I have what it takes to be a clan leader yet. I wasn't supposed to take of the clan for at least another 50 years. I don't even know if the others are going to remain willing to follow me now that we are in a land where there are other dragons again. he told her. He really wished that he could do something to help other gain his trust with in the clan so that he could show them that he was their best decision.

The little one then approached him, and then told him that he was a bigger version of her. He saw the smile on her face and just melted inside. All of his ill thoughts went away when he looked at her and how cute she was. He was content to watch her and then he heard her ask about her father.
Yes, I have met your father, unfortunately. It was Galbatorix himself that attacked our home and forced us here. Shruikan was with him.

I don't think Shruikan is an evil dragon despite his actions. I think that he wants to break out from under the king. I might be wrong, but there was something in his eyes when he attacked the city. It wasn't evil I saw, but shame. The king has something he's using to manipulate him. Of course this could just be my youth and trying to see good in everything talking.
he spoke seeing something else land and enter the cave. It was a very large female much larger than even himself. He nodded his head in a great nod of respect to the elder dragon and her rider and spoke. Greetings dragoness and rider, my name is Zil'caron, current alpha of Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr, or what's left of them anyway. he told them both with the utmost respect. He knew that if she wanted to, she could rampage and tear apart everyone in this cave. He only hoped she was peaceful.

Silvera smiled when the little one came over and looked at her young. She peered over her tail and Silvera lifted her wing for her to get a better view. She said that they felt very health, and SIlvera nodded, I make sure that they stay that way, it's about all I can do right now with the healing I know. she told the little one smiling as the human spoke up saying that they were too kind. It's not a problem at all really. just happy that we could help. she told them as she watched another, much larger figure land outside.

She instinctively lowered her wing over her young, and with the darkness outside, all she could see was black. She let out a low growl but then picked up that the dragon outside was a female. So it obviously wasn't the terror of the skies like she thought it was. She still left her wing over her young as Zil'caron greeted her. She seemed okay and non hostile, but she still wasn't sure.
and I apologize for seeming a bit aggressive as well. Silvera told her now easily seeing the purple in her. I didn't see the purple in you outside nor that you were female until you came inside. she concluded still not letting her know that she had young until she knew for certain that this dragoness was not violent

Jia dipped her head slightly to Zil'caron at his reply, tilting it as she listened. She smiled at the black-gold male. When someone believes themselves not ready or worthy of the position of leader, then they are very much ready. You will do what you must to help your Clan survive. I can see the determination in your eyes. she said, her own teal-green eyes glittering. She looked away when her daughter asked about Shruikan, feeling the old rage welling within her. She lifted her gaze up when a large midnight purple dragoness entered the cave. Her eyes widened slightly. Star Gazer, I'm very pleased to actually meet you. And you too, Reb. she said by way of greeting. Phal has told me about you and Faefnir. Ah, my name is Jia, this is my daughter, Sarai. she said, flicking her tail idly at the black-gold hatchling.

- - - - - - - - - -

Sarai nodded, the brightness dimming from her eyes slightly. Galbatorix uses Shruikan's true name, I think. Maybe even his Eldunarí. she shrugged. I've never actually met him yet, though I want to. Momma thinks it's too dangerous. A dragon is a dragon, no matter what they have done. Had Shruikan never been enslaved by Galbatorix, he would more than likely be no more evil than you or I. At the moment I don't love him, but nor do I hate him. He's simply my father. she said. She heard her mother growl softly but decided to ignore her. She looked up at the new arrivals and swayed slightly as the huge dragoness landed inside the cave. She grinned brightly and bounded forward eagerly. Hello, I'm Sarai, what's your name? she said excitedly, her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey irises shining at meeting someone new.

Post Re: Tempest Night
Star Gazer bowed in respect to the leader of this clan. "I too understand the protection of a clan. My mate Faefnir and I are the current king and queen of mountains not far from here. Actually that was what my rider and I were up to when the storm caught us. We are patching, albeit slowly, back together our scattered horde as we go along, only a few remain missing. My rider and I were breaking from our search when the storm hit." She looked around the cave and smiled at all present, just a baring of her teeth. A lone scent caught her attention and her eyes widened in surprise when she realized what was going on here.

She walked towards the dragon named Silvera. "Young one, you need not protect your hatchlings from me. Babies are so few and far between that I would protect them with my life. Like I would my own offspring, though they are now grown. Be still, and worry not." She then sat down, wrapping her massive wings around herself.

Reb listened as her dragon spoke, content to let Star do all the talking. She slowly began to squeeze out her hair. A small flame arose in her hand, and she moved it around her hair, attempting to dry it faster. After a few minutes Reb gave up, and the flame disappeared. "I am pleased to meet you as well." Reb said in reply to the greetings, "As is Star.". She slowly made her way over her dragon then, sitting down in front of her.

Star Gazer curled herself around Reb, and layed her massive head in her Rider's lap. She appeared to be relaxed, but she was still aware of all aroun her. Her rider was her world, now that her mate was gone(not dead) and she would take no chances.

Elisa eyed the large dragoness wearily, but eventually gave out a small smile. I'm Elisa she greeted happily. Hawke frowned when he heard Sarai speaking about Galbatorix using Shruikan's true name. "That's terrible," he muttered. Such a man that forced others to work with him didn't deserve to be king. Hawke leaned back against the wall of the cave. Eventually, Elisa came padding over to him and settled herself down in front of him. Hawke smiled gently and crouched down, stroking her neck calmly as he listened to Star Gazer's story. He sortof wished that he had stories to relate to, but he was different than most. He had only achieved freedom a little less than two months ago.

Zil'caron lowered his head even more when he found out that this dragoness was the queen of the mountains not too far from here saying that is why they were out in fir first place before the storm moved in. She said that they were in the process of patching back together their horde, and that they only had a few missing. I hope that you are able to find all of your missing comrades. It is an unpleasant experience to lose those that you care about. he told her turning back to Jia.

thank you as well. My clan tells me the same thing, I just don't know what to do right now. I think we will try to find your brighter though so he can help us with our magic, unless you know something about how our magic works Miss Star. he said looking in her direction. She seemed to be a lot older and wiser. than anyone else in the room based on her size alone, and the fact that she was a queen made him even more hopeful. perhaps they could train with her and join her horde so that they could get more information about the lands they were in.

Silvera watched as the dark colored dragoness approached her and at first felt a bit uneasy. She didn't know this dragoness or what she was capable of, but was quickly put to rest when she spoke. She had obviously picked up the scent of her young as the dragoness named Star told her that she did not need to worry about protecting her little ones from her. That hatchlings were so few and far in between that she would protect them with her life just as she would her own. Silvera could see the purity in her actions and in her words and relaxed a bit more.

I apologize. Like I mentioned, I didn't see the purple on you until after you came inside. When you first landed I thought you may have been that monster. I clearly see that isn't the case though, and I'm happy about that. Silvera told her lowering her head respectfully, and after hearing her talk to Zil, she also felt much more comfortable. She was a queen, and she immediately felt horrible for growling at her to begin with. She was just happy that she was nice, or at least seemed like she was.

Jia smiled slightly at Zil'caron. Of course. Zeke might actually be passing through here soon. We are going to War in a different land. she said, and shook her head slightly. She still could not believe that the War in Llaktai, the Allatik's homeland, was only a few days from starting. She wished Sarai would not insist on going, but it was hard to sway a dragon once they made up their mind. She stiffened only slightly when Sarai bounded over to Star and Reb. She knew, sort of, of Star Gazer's run-ins with Shruikan. She didn't know how Star would react to a daughter of the black menace. She watched the midnight purple dragoness warily, eyes and ears keen for the slightest movement that might be hostile.

- - - - - - - - - -

Sarai scampered to Star's head and gazed up at the dragoness queen, her eyes wide. Momma has told me about you. she said, tilting her head to the side like a curious cat. The tip of her tail twitched as if she were about to pounce. Have you ever met my father? she asked brightly, her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey irises shining with excitement. She felt her mother cringe. Sarai, hush. Star is probably a bit tired from this storm, let her rest. Jia said sharply. The black-gold hatchling glowered back at her mother. How does talking take energy? she snapped back irritably. I won't hide who or what I am. she felt Jia trembling slightly and had to remind herself that her mother only worried about her being hurt by those that didn't trust her because of who her father was. Sarai instantly felt contrite for snapping at her mother. She turned and padded to the gold-amethyst, nuzzling her shoulder. She curled up next to Jia's warm belly and put her head down on her forepaws. She felt Jia's tail curl around her protectively, but she didn't mind.

Star Gazer nodded and greeted the rider pair. She then turned to Zil. " I would try to help to the best of my abilities. I simply wish my mate were here He could answer any questions you had." Star Gazer smiled at the memory. Reb pat her cheek in sympathy. She layed her head back down when the little dragon walked over and told her story. "Yes little one, I have indeed heard of your father, and spent considerable time with him. You get you color from him." She said, no heat whatsoever in her words. Children weren't responsible for their parents actions. "You shouldn't have to hide who you are cute one. Always know that you make who you are." She motioned the hatchling closer to her and lifted her head. "I shall share a small secret with you. My parents were cynical, and extremely hateful. But that's ok, because I out grew them, met a wonderful dragon, and became the best I could be." She whispered in their minds, and nudged the little one with her muzzle. OOCH I'm srry for my horrible grammar and paragraphs, the device I'm on is limited.

The rain and cackles of lightning were evidence that the storm still hadn't let up yet, and probably wouldn't for a little while now. It was hard to believe that Sarai's father was Shruikan. The young dragoness seemed so eager and good-willed. Of course, that wasn't to say that Shruikan was a terrible dragon. For all Hawke knew, Galbatorix was only controlling the black dragon. Galbatorix did lose his previous dragon, if several bards' tales served correct.

Zil'caron smiled and gave a gentle look to both Jia and Sarai as they snapped at each other about who her father was. Indeed little one. The actions of your father doesn't necessarily mean that his young are going to suffer for it. Not in my clan at least. Little ones, as Miss Star said are quite rare and regardless of who sired who or how it happened. The fact that there is another little one in this world means all that much more to our dwindling race. Dragons not only here in Alegaesia are struggles, but also in Worloch as will and if they are struggling both here and in our old home, it's reasonably safe to presume that the race as a whole is struggling. Each new little one is one step closer to ending the suffering of our race, at least within these lands.

Do not view this as a negative circumstance Jia. Any dragon that is worth being called a dragon, is not going to care about who her father is, as like us, will only care in the fact that she is alive and well. AS long as both of you remain within the mountains, I intend to make sure that it stays that way.
he told the little one turning to the one named Star Gazer. Miss Star, with your permission I would like to merge the Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr with your horde. We have no ties with the land at all and no way to actually get any sufficient information to help us determine any courses of action.

If we could have the honor or merging with your horde, then we can be better informed on what's going on, and I can better protect everyone in the mountains here.
he asked her hoping that she would allow them to join them. It would benefit them so much, but then again he didn't know how trusting she would be of them. He only hoped that she would understand and accept his offer. He noticed and turned as he watched silvera start to fall asleep around the young. He smiles and turned back to Star to await her reply.

Sarai prummed happily at Star's words, her eyes shining. She heard her mother sigh and grumble, but when Jia didn't speak, she considered it a small win. She knew that her mother hated Shruikan for what he did, but maybe she could be turned around to see that he had had no choice in the matter. She gently licked the tip of Star's muzzle. Thank you for sharing with me, Star. she chirped. She looked up at Zil when he spoke, and grinned at him wolfishly. So very true. she said. Abruptly she yawned widely, flashing her tiny teeth. She hear Jia purr, and then a scaly tail circled around her and gently pulled her toward the gold-amethyst. She didn't object because she was tired. She curled up against her mother's side, tail over her nose just like a cat, and fell asleep.

- - - - - - - - - -

Once her daughter was asleep she sighed, wrapping her tail protectively around the black-gold hatchling. Perhaps you are right, Zil. I don't know anymore. I hate him for what he did to me, but...I've seen him suffer punishment that would kill any other dragon. He truly does not deserve the fate that has been forced upon him. she laid her head down on her paws, her teal-green eyes weary. And there are some that would hurt her. I try to protect her the best that I can. It's not her fault who her father is, she can't help that, but I've seen people, of all races, that are so hate filled toward Galbatorix and Shruikan that they would even strike at the daughter of the black scaled menace. She doesn't seem to comprehend that. she murmured. Her tail tightened around Sarai subconsciously.

Star Gazer looked smiled down at the little dragon, and when she departed she turned to Zil. She knew what he asked was a lot to consider, but she was tired of watching dragon's run, and had only recently found her own clan, but even with their numbers the hatchlings were rare. Besides her mountains were vast, and had plenty of caves. She knew Zil was the leader and would remain as such, thankfully the cave next to her's and Faefnir's was clear and empty.

She slowly raised her head and looked at the younger dragons. "I would be honored if would join our clan/horde which ever you wish to call it, for it is only official to us. As leader of your clan there is a special cave for you, your mate, and your young. As for the rest of your large family there are plenty of caves within the main range, as well as farther off." Star said.

Reb looked towards the other rider, who seemed preoccupied watching the storm. "Hello my name is Reb, what is yours?" She asked, leaning back into Star Gazer's side for warmth. Star used her tail to pull some dried leaves and twigs from the floor towards her rider. Reb smiled her thanks. She took a deep breath as fire began sparking around her, swirling into a condensed flame within the center of the leaves, and soon a blaze was going.

ooc: after we finish this RP I think I'm going to start one on the Dragon mountains....there is one going now but the dragn's haven't been found yet. All of you are welcome to join when I do lol

IC: Hawke watched the roaring storm closely, barely aware of what the others were saying. He had felt a sudden drowsiness come up on him, but realized that it had come from Elisa. His dragoness curled up in a ball next to Hawke, and he smiled gently at the motion.

He barely heard someone speaking to him due to his intense concentration on the loud rain and thunder. He snapped out of his reverie and turned towards the voice's source. "Oh, hey. My name is Hawke," he said. Well, he didn't remember the name his parents had given him, so he adapted to one of his own. He glanced at the fire, feeling slightly out of place due to the radiating heat. He wasn't very used to warmth; warmth that traveled inside of his body. "What exactly is Dragon Mountain?" Hawke queried. He had heard the name mentioned several times, but he still lacked the information of what it was.

OOC: Sounds good. :)

Zil'caron nodded to Star Gazer as she spoke to him telling him that she would be honored if they were to join their clan or horde whatever they call it and that it would only be official through them. She said that she had a special cave for Silvera, the young, and himself to stay in since they were the leaders of the clan and that they would remain as such. He was over joyed with her response. The would finally have some form of protection for themselves and a steady supply of information so they could plan their next move. Thank you so very much miss star. You're approval and acceptance of us has already given me more confidence in taking on the dangers in these lands. As soon as I can get some more information on Galbatorix, and I learn to tame a bit more of the magic I possess, I would like to to Uru'Baen myself and confront Galbatorix. Ther may even be a way that I can help other dragons unlock their potential for magic as well. If we all can pull together we might be able to beat him and bring peace to the lands once again. he told her with excitement in his voice. At the very least, he would be able to ensure the survival of his clan, which was his top priority.

Jia smiled slightly at the exchange between Zil and Star. She sighed at the black-gold male. It won't be easy, that I can tell you. With the amount of power Galbatorix has behind him, he could destroy a battalion of dragons or of the Varden's troops, were he so inclined to leave his palace. she said sadly. She yawned widely, flashing all of her teeth, then she prummed and curled her neck around her daughter protectively, her eyes drooping. My apologies, but I am falling asleep with my head up. Wake me if there is any need. she murmured, and then she was out cold like her daughter.

OOC:
Meh, kinda short. >.<

Star Gazer nodded and bowed her head. "I have fought him for years. And will continue to do so." she turned to the younger rider. " the dragon mountAin is a cluster of mountains in the Beor rAnge were my family has ruled for centuries, and houses a clan of wild dragons." star turned her head to wrap around her rider. ~short

Hawke nodded. He had learned a good deal today and found several organizations he wouldn't have previously thought existed. He layed down in an attempt to process it all, and Elisa eventually walked over to him and curled up next to him. Eventually, the two were asleep.
