Re: The Hunger Games [Spoilers Abound!]
Okay, the ending REALLY annoyed me.
First, I would rather Katniss had ended up with Gale instead of Peeta. I'm sorry Peeta lovers, but I hate Peeta. I hate him so much that when killing him was being discussed I started muttering, "Yess, kill Peeta! Peeta needs to die! Die Peeta, die!"
I also found it to be rather anticlimactic, but that's just me.
I too was devestated when Prim died and when it was confirmed Cinna was dead.
As for Coin, I always thought there was something fishy going on.

Oops, read that. Doesn't matter though. I don't really care if I know who dies. Getting it today at lest. It'll take me a couple days to finish it.

Re: The Hunger Games [Spoilers Abound!]
I was deffinetly holding onto a thin string of hope that Cinna was still alive, all the way through the epilogue even!
And I was honestly pissed when Katniss and Haymitch said yes to the Hunger Games for the Capitol kids. Seriously??? They already killed so many in that penned in area where Prim died, and they still want to do that???? It made me mad.
But it was good. There were several parts I realized I need to go back and read Catching Fire again cause she would reference it, but I was still able to remember enough that it made sense (somewhat)

I know! I yelled "WHAT?" when I read about Katniss and Haymitch saying yes. And it was 2:00 am and I wasn't supposed to be up but I still yelled.

I didn't yell as much as I did with that troll the other night though. I was surprised my parents didn't wake up then.
All in all, I didn't like how Collins ended the series. The same way I didn't like how she ended her other series.

*Sobbing* I knew deep in my heart he was no more. He openly defied (X's 2) Snow's order for Katniss's dress. He "apparently went by" what the snake had ordered but when the dress burned into the mockingjay, I felt sure he had signed his own death sentence, but he also gave a LOUD and CLEAR message to the districts and the rebellion!
At first thought I was FURIOUS with both Katniss and Haymitch, however when she shot Coin instead of Snow I immediately understood their strategy. Let Coin believe she was convinced it was the Capitol's hovercraft who released the bombs, then with weapon in hand, kill Coin as the authorization for Prim, a 13 yr old, to be in fire front must have come from Coin. This was the way Coin thought she would either get Katniss's full support, or break her irreversibly. It's all explained on pages 359 to 361.
I was angry and highly disappointed in Gale. If he loved her as much as it was led the reader to believe, I would have expected more understanding, support and honesty on his behalf. He had allowed himself to be blinded and taken over hatred and vengeance.
And Katniss's mother??? I was outraged as she once more abandoned Katniss. She was so selfish!!!! It was as if her husband and Prim were her only family. Katniss was chop liver to her, even after all she had been forced to live through. What a waste of a mother!
I love Johanna and Paylor. My favorite survivors. Finnick's death came to me as a surprise and a big blow to my heart. He finally is happy and SC killed him off and I cannot make any sense of it.
That last CD is powerful. It gets me sobbing every single time I listen to it.

Re: The Hunger Games [Spoilers Abound!]
I just finished reading Mockingjay...
My mind is blown, I haven't the slightest idea what to say... but I feel I must say something... I guess I'll start from the top lol
Cinna: Not much of a shock really for me... I knew he was dead the moment the second Hunger Games began, back in Catching Fire. Though Effie had a very off hand way of confirming that he was dead. I was very happy however to see that even dead, he was still there making Katniss look her best.
Coin: I never really truly hated her until Boggs died, as I had always thought maybe she might turn out half way decent. Guess not. lol
Plitarch: believe it or not, I actually liked him, in that, "You're important, but I still don't know why you're here" kind of way...
Gale: I saw many things going wrong all over the place from the beginning with him, but I really didn't expect it to end well for the Team Gale people. Gale was never in the arena, he doesn't understand what Katniss and Peeta went through each time they went in. Watching people die needlessly. Personally I feel that if Katniss had never gone to the games, but Gale did instead, it would have ended the same, but backwards. I can't begin to express my thoughts on what would have happened if both Gale and Katniss were reaped in the 74th games... surely they would have lain waste to the competition, and maybe even pull off the berries... But the possibilities are endless... Long story short. The games ruined their relationship, and made a wall which neither could get through or over.
Peeta: Come on... I never was much of a fan of Peeta, though in someways he reminds me of my self, while he was exactly what Katniss needed to survive... idk, I just wasn't a fan of Peeta, when he was Hijacked, I had actually seen the only glimmer of hope, Gale had to be with Katniss, in the entire book.
Katniss's Mother (Did she ever have a name? :S ) : It wasn't just Prim and her Father that set her off, it was all the memories that district 12 held as well. You'll notice that her mother never truly wrote Katniss off, on page 386-387 they call and find them selves crying each other to bits.
Haymitch: Ah yes, good ol' Haymitch, turns out there's more to the Drunk then meets the eye huh? I saw a great development of character in him, mostly because he was actually a major character in this book, instead of being in another place, only being mentioned by name. It was interesting to see that he actually had a family and even a girlfriend before his games (the 50th) before Capital killed them all.
Prim: I made a mistake. I had read a spoiler earlier that told me that she was going to die. But even then, when I made it to the end of the chapter, and watched in my mind as the words took shape into the beautiful canvas that Suzanne paints for us, I still could not believe it. At first, I had thought that the Capital had picked up on some of Gale's traps and decided to use them against the Rebels, but then there was the conversation with Snow, and then later the conversation with Gale himself, and to learn that it was, in fact, Gale, that killed Prim, either intended or not, with the help of Coin's placing of Prim on the front lines, that actually shook me emotionally to have such a powerful aftershock of Gale's hate and rage and sense of genius in his traps. I feel this was the most powerful moment in the entire book...
Finnick: Want some sugar? Oh yea, I loved this guy, and was a little disappointed to see that he died as well, but what really got me, was that he left Annie with a child, rather I assume it's his child... ( :S ) and it was rather interesting to find out that Finnick was actually more of a sex slave than a sweetheart...
Katniss: No words can describe what has happened to her, and if they could, they would take up three books and each would make it to the top of the New York Times Best Seller list, oh wait... you mean someone already described what happened to her? I bet I was right, wasn't I? xD Joking aside, there is so much I could say about her, but one thing tops it all. She really didn't want kids lol. it took fifteen years for Peeta to win out and get children (Puts her at, what? 32? 33? They never did say when she turns 18 did they? yet the book felt as though it were over an entire year...) and her reaction to feeling her first child inside her... Ok, I will admit, I did laugh because Suzanne made it sound like Katniss freaked out a little lol and it would seem that she felt the same way while carrying the second child as well.... (Though I kind of want to know their names... this trilogy is filled with such funny and inventive names...)
Hunger Games for the Capital: I was all for it the moment I saw that Snow had a granddaughter. and I knew Katniss would say yes, because of Prim. Though it was Haymitch's answer that kind of disappointed me, a simple "I side with the mockingjay" ...
Right... so this only took me 40 minutes to type up lol....
