Is any one else looking to join the millitary when they are older. I want to be a navy SEAL.

Re: millitary
my brother wants to go into the Marine Corps. He's inspired by the "First to Fight" motto they have. Plus, I think him playing Halo has something to do with it as well. lol.

I've been interested, but i don't think it's my calling (and i don't want to die), but i know a number of people who want to join the military, whether the Army Rangers (my brother and a classmate), and several friends who might join the AF

Don't join the military just yet if you know what's good for you. That's all I'm saying.

Re: millitary
Actually, I have to agree with IMNC. Granted, I have a deep respect for the men and women in uniform. I dont want to get political here, but all of our servicemen are being sent to fight a groundless war in a country that we didn't have any business in. Please don't get mad at me, I'm just expressing my opinion and I don't want to start a huge debate.

Re: millitary
*pre-post note*-this is not political, but about current events.
it wasn't pointless. it was to topple a corrupt and cruel regime that had, at sadam's command, killed many, many innocent Kurds. it was to stop the threat of terrorism, protect innocents, both US and otherwise, from it, and the threat of chemical weapons. i realize we found none, but even w/o that, Sadam still deserved justice, and it was our duty, as some of the primary heads of democratic ideals, to stop such tyranny.
(this is where it might get a tad political) I support Bush, and beleive that he has done a far better job leading our country in highly difficult times than many others would have. its easy to critize in afterthought, to be a "backseat driver". Most americans agreed that we should go to war then, but now, in hindsight, you disagree. Hypocracy if i ever saw it!! while the war might not have gone as smoothly as it might, it still was the right thing to do (end of political rant).

I'm not going to join but my stepdad was in the military and I mean yes it sucks that people go and die for others but if we had no military we would not be here (I'm in the US so if my opinion is different than those somewhere else I'm sorry) but still i don't like war but with out a military here we would be vunerable to other country's attack and that is a scary thought but I don't like was and I wish it had not happened but if we pulled our troops out right now everyone that died would have died in vain.

Re: millitary
Siegemaster, if Bush is such a great president, then how come he's spying on our phones and websites? How come he vetoed a bill that would have nationalized CHILDREN'S HEALTH CARE when there are millions of Americans out there who can't afford health insurance? How come the threat of terrorist attack is higher than ever before? Why is the surplus that we had at the end of the Clinton administration completely gone and our economy is headed towards recession? Hate to break it to ya, buddy, but Bush is extremely unpopular right now. Even Republicans are starting to hate him. And yes, I do pay attention to politics. I watch MSNBC and the Senate/House sessions on a regular basis.

Re: millitary
Wikipedia is a good source for anything, the canadian secret services are called Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and since canada is also a french speaking country they have a french name, Service canadien du renseignement de sécurité (SCRS) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_S ... ce_ServiceIn the United Arab Emirates where I currently live they call it the C.I.D., but I don't know what it stands for.

It's not about how dangerous the job is.... Its about your "calling" or personal duty to your country. Personally, i dont think i will ever join the military because thats not where i feel i need to be.

Re: millitary
Sometimes I think I would want to go into the military service, but then again no.
1. I don't really want to end up killing people and especially civilians, and/or getting shot and getting killed.
2. It would be nice to help others get freedom or what not.
3. I have pretty bad chest pains, so I don't think it would work out to well for me.
4. Games can lead you to wanting to join the army lol. For example: Socom
Well, I'm not saying it's a 100% kind of thing, so don't go insane on me.

Re: millitary
The second and third days, my flight rand soooo slow, and everyone of them but 2 cadets dropped out. Lt. Puckett and Lt. McGillick were so mad they decided to run with my flight the entire time...good time, good times.

Re: millitary
NOt bad at all
Okay now I have to say that after I get out of college and get established in life I might join the millitary. Go for the Army or Air Force. Probably the Air Force.

Re: millitary
If you are looking into the Air Force or the Army I would base it off of your interests. If you are a more hardcore military person the Army, if you are interested in a more civilian style life with some military characteristics the Air Force is more up your ally.

Re: millitary
I am going to MSU, that's not totally correct. 8 people were rejected from getting scholarships. They only had 6 to hand out.

Sniping real people I imagine is a bit harder, both with skill and on the mind...

Re: millitary
ya, i know, but usually, i heard from a guy at the army, if someone did something extremely horrible, u dont really mind putting a bullet in them but i dont think that way, so i guess it depends on a persons point of view.

Re: millitary
But as a sniper, it is possible for you to be required to shoot someone without giving them a chance.
Yeah, it depends on your point of view. I know I could not snipe people, I could not do it in cold blood. I do not want to join the army, because I don't want to get shot somewhere half way around the world. Maybe the surface navy, or something.
Yeah, I can see what the army guy was getting at: if someone hurt someone I cared about, I might want to put a bullet into them.

Re: millitary
WEll, usually when ur a sniper, and u give them a chance, you will either a)get shot and fail ur mission or b)die... so i guess being a sniper would be like saying "kill to live".

Re: millitary
I meant assassinations. In wartime, it happens. That's why I couldn't be a sniper.

Re: millitary
to be a good sniper you have to have a really strong mind. Imagine it , you see the way the person dies, and you know for sure it's your bullet that put an end to that persons life.
Infantrymen at least have the choice of saying, "who says it's my bullet that killed them?"

Re: millitary
I have always wanted to join the Marines. Hopefully a sniper division. (great shot with rifle. 50 feet or farther away and i can put 5+ bullets within the size of a dime on the bullseye)

Re: millitary
While I was at a shot gun shootout (and rifles) some National Guard guys stopped by and complimented my shooting. kinda cool.

Re: millitary
I recieved an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship. I absolutely love the Army, probably the best thing i've ever done with myself!!!
Right now i'm a lowly private, but in only four years, I will be a Lieutenant. Hopefully this summer i'll get an Airborne school slot.
