Post Ninya
Name: Ninya

Age: 70

Skills: Ninya hates constraint and loves to run. Her speed is incredible, even for an elf. She can run thirty miles an hour without too much difficulty, and keep that speed for hours. If she absolutely has too, she can run sixty miles an hour, though this is really stretching it, and she can only reach this speed when driven by intense emotion. Also, she can’t run so well if she’s tense.

Ninya also has some magical ability, though it isn’t much. She doesn’t practice very often, and her skill is very much unpolished, she can’t do much more than light a fire. Due to her isolation, she wasn’t given proper training and only knows the basics. She can only do simple spells on her own, though she can do more complex spells if given the right words and guided through the process.

Ninya’s skill with a bow is much better than average, but nothing extraordinary. She has excellent aim, and can loose sixty arrows in a minute, but she's not all that strong and can only shoot an arrow about forty yards.

With a sword, she’s good, but nothing special. Her skill comes mainly from speed. Ninya’s not very strong, she prefers to work her way through with subtlety, cleverness, and speed instead of brute force. Her style of fighting is to allow people to think they're winning while she asses their fighting style and ability, then abruptly slip through their defenses and overwhelm them.

Ninya’s mental capacity is incredible. She is very highly intelligent, can think almost as quickly as she moves, and can almost always think her way out of a tricky situation. Ever since her captivity, she has tried to remember everything and has an almost photographic memory.

Due to her long captivity in the dark, Ninya can “See” in the dark like bats, listening to echoes and forming a picture from them. Though her ability is nowhere near that of bats, it’s good enough for her to navigate a dark room. She can use sounds to tell if there is something directly in front of her, and the basic shape of a room and placement of furniture.

Ninya, for some reason, has telekinesis ability. It isn’t much, not enough to do anything big, just enough to move small objects. It can’t pick up anything heavier than a stone about the size of her head. She experiments with it a lot as, unlike magic, it doesn’t bite. She can use her telekinesis to undo a very simple lock, unravel weave, undo a chain or do a knot. If she’s upset, small objects will fly all over the place.

Over the years of exploring and observing the forest, Ninya has become an expert at camouflage. She can slip into her surroundings until only the sharpest eye can catch her-An effect assisted by the colors of her clothing. The main part of this talent is Ninya’s ability to stay absolutely still, so the eye sees no movement and therefore passes over her as a part of the scenery.

Ninya is ambidexterous, though she doesn't like to have anyone know this. In combat, she can switch hands, confusing her opponent, and attacking from the other side, which her opponent leaves vulnerable, not expecting her to attack from that side.

Gender: Female

Race: Elf

Hair: Midnight black

Eyes: Emerald green

Home Village: Hyenerra

Parents: Hallia and Mendern. They are probably both dead, but Ninya has no actual proof.

Siblings: None

Character history: Ninya was born and grew up in a Hyenerra, a tiny elven village. When she was very young, it was discovered that she had magic. Her parents couldn’t get her magical education in their tiny village, so they discouraged her from using it too much, as she didn’t know the complexities of magic and could easily make mistakes. Practically from birth she was using her telekinesis ability, and by the time she was old enough to understand, telling her not to use it was pointless, as it obviously didn’t backlash like regular magic did. In fact, her parents encouraged her to use it and practice control, as they were altogether tired of having the room go into a shambles whenever she lost her temper.

Ninya lived quite peacefully, until one day, when she was going to visit a friend, she ran into another elf. He smirked at her. “Hey, Nin-Ninny.” Randal. Sometimes it seemed she couldn’t step through the front door without running into him, the most mean, annoying, unfriendly-“Where ya going, Nin-Ninny?” He glanced down at the basket in her hand. “Oh, I see. Mama wants you to take eggs to her friend. And of course, you do it. Just like a good little girl.” Ninya glared. Suddenly, she had had enough. All his sneering at her whenever she passed by, all his smart remarks-She wasn’t going to take one more. Her temper snapped. Suddenly, all the eggs flew out of the basket and at him, along with a great deal of dead plant material. Randal spluttered, his face going red with fury. He punched her in the face. Ninya gave him absolutely no reaction. “I’ll get you for this!” He yelled at her. Then he turned away. As he began to sprint off, he felt a slight thud as Ninya’s basket landed on his head. When he turned around, Ninya had disappeared.

Ninya sprinted off into Du Weldenvarden, going faster and faster, burning off her anger. She couldn’t remember ever being this upset. In her wake, rocks and plant material flew around, water in puddles and streams swirled violently, and small plants were uprooted. Even small animals were affected by the force of her telekinesis.

Eventually, the familiar, rythmitic thud of her heart and feet calmed her, as it always did. She slowed and took stock of her surroundings-Then froze. She wasn’t worried about losing herself in Du Weldenvarden-She knew the surrounding area like the back of her hand-But this was not Du Weldenvarden. Normally, when she ran off, she had enough control of her temper to not run in the direction of the Empire. But not this time. Ninya took a deep breath too calm herself. She just had to get back into Du Weldenvarden, she told herself, and then she would be safe. She felt rather shaken. She’d never been outside of Du Weldenvarden and had been told over and over again, never cross the border, Du Weldenvarden’s wards won’t protect you if you’re in the Empire. And she had just broken that most important of rules. She turned around to head back home-Then felt a prick in the back of her head, and her world went black.

At some later point in time, Ninya woke up. She was in darkness. Utter and total darkness without the barest speck of light. She felt around, sincerely wishing as she did so that she hadn’t lost her temper, that she hadn’t ran off, hadn’t crossed the border and hadn’t been hit by that dart. Her cell was about six by six feet square, made of cold stone. In one wall there was a door, also made of stone, and to the left of the door and at the bottom of the wall was another stone door, this one much smaller, about twelve by twelve inches. The doors had to have some kind of spells on them, because they let absolutely no light in through the cracks which she could feel. She felt out for her magic, and was not surprised to find that she couldn’t find it. Interestingly, though her mind was rather muddled, whatever drug they had used had not affected her telekinesis. She tried fiddling with the lock-Though she had no hope that it would be anywhere near simple enough for her telekinesis do to anything to it-And almost immediately abandoned it. She crumpled to the ground and began to cry.

An indeterminable time later, the door opened to admit a tall man. Squinting against the light, Ninya saw that he had very pale skin, and purple hair and eyes. A shade. Ninya stiffened. “My name is Zalda.” He said. “Don’t be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you. I just want to ask you some questions.”
“And if I don’t want to answer those questions?”
Zalda shrugged. “Then I’ll just leave you here, I suppose, and perhaps later you’ll change your mind.”
There followed a series of questions, to which Ninya did not answer. Throughout the questioning, she could feel Zalda probing at her mind. It didn’t feel as if he was really trying to get in, just testing her defenses. Then Zalda left. Approximately a week later, their followed another bout of questioning, then, another two weeks later, another. Then he left her alone entirely. After he stopped coming, it did not take Ninya long to realize his plan. She had absolutely no light, except when a guard opened the tiny twelve-by-twelve inch window at the bottom of the wall to shove in a tray of food, a little light occasionally streamed in.
That kept her sane, for without light, the world did not exist. Ninya often suspected that Zalda allowed that little window to sometimes let a bit of light in, because he didn’t want her to go completely insane. Even with that, she barely stayed sane. It seemed that, instead trying to force the truth out of her, he would leave her in the dark, to become less and less sure of her grip on reality until she was an open book for him to read. And it was working. After a few days, she began to wonder what was going on outside. For all she knew, the elves, dwarves and Varden could be destroyed. Eventually, she came to wonder if there was anything but this dark hole, if the world outside was nothing but a pretty dream.

For an indeterminable time-It could have been just a few weeks, or months-Zalda stayed away. In spite of the fact that she hated and feared him, Ninya wished he would come, because he was proof that there was a world aside from just the cold, dark stone hole where she ate and slept, ate and slept. But he was very patient, depriving her of everything outside for weeks on end.
Then came an incredible stroke of luck: A drunk guard had left a bit of wire on her tray. She examined it, then decided it would do for what she wanted.

Ninya had not been able to pick the lock with her telekinesis because with her telekinesis, she couldn’t feel the lock, just twitch it around in ways that could possibly cause the door to unlock. Now it was different. With the wire, she managed to fashion a rough lockpick.

A couple times, Ninya had tried starving herself to see if she could escape once she had her magic back, but had decided it did no good. Her muddled brain could not compose a spell that could unlock the door and not alert the guards. But she now had another way to escape, and she would need anything that would help. After she skipped two meals, she had her magic back. One spell she had learned was a rough silence spell. She cast the spell, then picked the lock. It took a few minutes, but she managed it. She opened the door a crack, peeked out, and put a hand over her eyes. Even the dim light of the corridor was too bright for her light-deprived eyes. She ripped off a piece of her pants and tied the strip over her eyes, then peeked back out. She tugged the blindfold slightly off her eyes, glancing around. She could see the vague form of a man facing away from her. She watched him for a few moments, then grabbed the tray on which her food was delivered. she concentrated hard for a few moments, then made the necessary adjustments to the silence spell so it would include the man standing in front of her. Very quietly, making barely a sound, Ninya told the tray in her hand to rise into the air. It wobbled slightly-Proof of her exhaustion-Then rose. Swift as lightning, the tray whacked the head of the guard, then clattered to the ground. She then she picked the tray back up and glanced around, making sure the silence spell had succeeded and no one had heard. The door opened out into a small room. There were torches set into sconces on the walls and a table with food and water on it. There was only one other person in the room. Ninya knocked him out just as he was turning in her direction. Then she opened the door the rest of the way, stepped toward the table, and bolted down the food. She grabbed the sword of one of the guards she’d knocked unconscious, then slipped out of the fortress.

There were plenty of other soldiers in the fortress, but only a few of them were awake, and Ninya left without too much trouble, acquiring a bow and arrows on the way. When she got outside, it was the dead of night, and she was glad of it, for she wasn’t sure if her eyes could have stood daylight, even with the blindfold. She determined which direction was north, then set off for Du Weldenvarden.

Ninya ran much more slowly than usual, due to exhaustion and food deprivation. As she traveled, she ate what edible plants she could find. Slowly, her mind, body, and eyes healed. About three days later, she came to Du Weldenvarden. She was reasonably sure she knew where she was going, though at her rate, the village was still a couple days away.

About a day and a half later, Ninya was sure she knew where she was, this part of the forest she could navigate with her eyes closed. But something seemed sort of off, the animals weren’t acting quite the way they should, and there was a strange scent in the air. As she got closer to Hyenerra, the smell got more and more definite: It was the smell of old smoke. A worm of doubt began to grow in Ninya’s mind. She tried to banish it, then gave up as she broke into a clearing and saw a charred shell of a house. She passed several other ruins, then came to her house. She stared at it, and tears streamed down her face. What happened here? She wondered. But deep down, she knew. Galbatorix happened. Somehow, some of his soldiers managed to slip through.

Slowly, Ninya’s pair and sadness turned to rage. She took a deep breath, fixed the image of the charred ruin of that had been her home in her mind, and focused all her hate and rage on how to destroy Galbatorix. She began running toward the Varden with one thought in her mind: Revenge.

Character personality: Ninya has a very hot temper that is easily ignited, though she tries not to lose it, as she prefers not to send objects flying all over the place. When she loses her temper, Ninya will either focus all her anger on destroying the object of her rage, or she will run. Ninya loves running. It’s what she does best, what calms her down even at her most upset, and what helps her sort through her thoughts and emotions. Whenever Ninya is filled with strong emotion of any kind, her all-purpose reaction is to run, unless she’s too upset for even that. Ninya is generally reserved, and doesn’t like to get close to anyone. If someone is doing something she wants to prevent, she generally finds a way to stop it, she has an iron will. After her captivity in the darkness, she still sometimes wonders if the outside world isn’t just a dream, and doesn’t want to get close to anyone only to have them ripped away and find herself back in the darkness. To those she does get close to, Ninya is passionately protective, immensely kind, loving and happy. Her captivity gave Ninya a terror of the dark. She fears that, if she’s ever left alone in absolute dark, the dark will devour her, swallow her up, leaving nothing but an empty, soulless, body. Whenever she’s left in the dark with no light, she will go into a panic attack and begin to lose her grip on reality. Also, her love of running gives Ninya a love of open places and being outside, and a hate of any restraint. She’s claustrophobic, and though this fear is nowhere near as great as her fear of the dark, it’s enough to make her immensely reluctant to go into small, enclosed spaces. As she doesn’t want to get close to anyone, she always tries to keep barriers between herself and the world. Since she’s still afraid that the world isn’t real, that the only reality is in the black cell she left behind, she wants to remember everything, so that if she does wake up and find herself back in the darkness, she’ll have something to remember.

Weapons: A longbow, powerfully built and covered with carved vines. She has a quiver with the same patterns. Both the bow and the quiver are the same color as her eyes and her emerald pendant.

Her sword is slightly curved and made of very light, very flexible steel, which can easily be bent and will snap back into place, and is very difficult to break, built for fighting with a more subtle style than most. The hilt of her sword and its sheath are the same color and inscribed with the same patterns as her bow and quiver.

She also has three small, straight daggers, very light, thin, and much less flexible than her sword. the sheaths and hilts all the same as that of her sword. She doesn't really use them for fighting, at least not in hand-to-hand combat. She uses them more in everyday life. She keeps one dagger in her left sleeve, one in her right boot, and one belted at her waist.

All of her weapons are elven made, salvaged from the ruin of her house. Her weapons are spelled to keep them from breaking and make them faster, and to make them unwieldy if someone steals her weapons and tries to use them. Her daggers and sword and their sheaths are specially designed so that, if need be, she can use her telekinesis to slip them out of her sheaths.

Likes: All plants, wide open places, the sun, running, being outside

Dislikes: Darkness, small spaces, pointless destruction, constraint of any kind

Physical appearance: Ninya is extremely tall, nearly seven feet. Her body isn’t strong, really, but very lanky and obviously built for speed. She is not very shapely, but all the same she is very pretty. She has waist-length raven black hair, eyes like emeralds, with a dangerous sparkle and long lashes, a firmly set jaw that tells you she won’t step out of the way for anyone if she doesn’t want too, and sharp cheekbones with not an inch of extra fat on them. Her face is very angular, accented by sharp, fierce, lines. She wears a shirt, pants and cloak all made of the same gray-brown-green cotton which can help her to blend into the scenery. Around her throat she wears a gold chain with an emerald around it. She salvaged this from the burned ruin of her house, and it's the only jewelry she ever wears. She has a sword and a dagger belted at her waist-Though her cloak falls around her in a way that generally keeps them from sight-and a bow and arrows on her back. She also has a very light shirt of chain mail under her shirt, made of very fine links so that it barely shows.

Dreams for the Future: Galbatorix's death.

Reasons for Dreams: She hates Galbatorix for what she did to her family, friends and home

Alignment/Side: The Varden

:) Thanks! I don't really have any plans in that direction, but it's definitely an idea. I might make a character out of him sometime.

You should bring him around. You could probably make some interesting plot with him involved. 8) Good luck with your newest charry. :)
