The Calm Before the Storm

Open for all, but especially Kit and Fang's charries should join. Artemis woke up instantly from the sound of pitter-patter hitting against the rocks of the cave she slept in. It was rain. Rain... It called to her, like any body of water that lapped playfully at her feet. It tickled, taunted, and sometimes it was terrifying. But not today, she reminded herself. Mis got to her feet, stretching her wings and legs before running out into the clearing that lay out before her. It was only a light drizzle, but it was enough to please her. It had been a hectic time for Mis, and she was glad to escape from the world in this little hiding place out in the Varden. She hadn't seen any other griffons in the area, just dragons and elves that she kept well away from and successfully. It was bad enough that she didn't get along with her own siblings, she didn't want to go pick fights with dragons. They bothered her, what with all of their special powers and intellegince and need to go off and battle. She would only prefer to stay put in one area and not have to answer to anyone. Mis's brothers and sister had split up after their mother passed away, and she hadn't heard from them since. In fact, if she attempted to go out and look for them, Mis would probably end up getting lost anyway. She was better off living a solitary life without looking for trouble. Who needs friends anyway? Mis mumbled, monotone, as she looked up into the rain, blinking away the water that would have gotten into her eyes. This rp could give Vladimir some real purpose as a charry! (Other than the fact that he is a crazy Paconio hater ) IC: Vladimir floated (still in elf form) over the many trees of Du Weldenvarden, feeling great as the mist rushed over him. It was very unlike Vlad to do something like this, but lately, hunting Paconio, his elf brother, didn't seem so important. He just wanted to relax for awhile, and let all of his worries just wash away. The wind blew across him, sending a chill through his entire body. I wish I could do this more often... He thought to himself. Vladimir had never made a single friend once he left his parents and his newborn brother behind, and it pained him so. If only he could go back... Just to let you know, Artemis isn't a bad guy. She's just kind of a snob. lol. IC: Artemis stopped and looked towards the sky. Something was coming; she could feel it. Quickly she entered her cave and attempted to hide, for the smell that seemed to radiate in the air made her shiver with disgust. It's an elf, she grumbled. Who's out there?! she shouted while still keeping herself well-hidden. That was his weakness with the floating technique, if he was speaking to or being spoken to by someone while floating, he would fall out of the sky. He managed to mutter a few words in the ancient language, and just inches before connecting to the hard ground, an invisible force stopped him from falling completely, and then set him down on the ground gently. I apologize for that little scene there, who ever you are. I also apologize for intruding upon your territory, it was an accident... He said to whatever it was that made him plummet out of the sky. Spare me the pleasantry, and tell me what you’re doing here, she hissed. I don’t have time for this. She stepped out into the mist, her feathers once again becoming wet. Tell me what you want and begone, elf. Even if it was an accident, I don’t take kindly to trespassers. Mis wasn’t sure about this elf. There seemed to be something different about him, something that she couldn’t think of. He seemed like any other, but he had a hidden power…though she cared not what he possessed. Said Vladimir as he slowly walked away from the voice, saddened. He had thought they could have been at least distinguished allies. He knew that he would need to make friends, even friends on the good side, to be able to defeat Paconio and his many supportive allies. Vlad planned on being persistent with making a friend out of whatever was talking to him, so when he had the chance, he went behind a tree and turned into a small, starving and abandoned looking puppy. He ran with his four little paws toward where he heard the voice. Not very surprisingly, Vlad was led to the cave, though he couldn't see anything inside of it. He barked lowly into the cave, listening to echo, and watching as his dog instincts made him watch in amazement. _________________ The sacrifice is never knowing Why I never walked away, Why I played myself this way, Now I see your testing me pushes me away. Even though he had a slim change of finding good prey, Cratos kept his eyes locked on the ground. Then Cratos saw something, it could've been a rabbit, raccoon, or some other small animal the heavy rains made it hard to tell. But deciding it might be the only animal he sees today Cratos dove out of the sky and landed with his right foreleg ontop of the creature, which turned out to be a small puppy. He lifted the creature up with by it's tail and sniffed it. It had little meat on it and it wouldn't suffice as a good meal. Great, the one animal I find, proves to be worthless, Cratos said, he sighed and put the puppy back down. Cratos walked into the cave, and shook all the water off him. With a large sigh Cratos laid down on the ground. Well ... at least I found cover from the ran. _________________ "Listen to them. A noise like the sound of wingbeats was approching. Mis poked her head out of the cave and screeched menecingly. A griffon was in her area, and it wasn't one of her siblings. A slight breeze was blowing over the tops of the massive trees, and carried with it several of the scents of the area. Elika identified a few, then she smelled the distinct scents of Griffins, down to the very one. Cratos, Artemis, and... and... what hell is that? There was a very peculiar smell, it was dogish, but not really. She would've ignored the two griffins, especially Artemis since she liked the solitude, but the strange creature drew her attention. She flew above the very small clearing and dropped from the sky, changing into her human form as she did. She landed with a thud, the soft ground leaving a perfect imprint from her. She walked toward the scent and saw Cratos, Mis behind him, blending in pretty good, in a cave, "Hey Cratos, hey Missy, how's it going?" she asked as she walked by. She then saw what she was looking for, and grabbed the puppy. She picked it up and examined it, "You look like a puppy, but you don't smell like one." When two other creatures showed up, Vlad was greeted by being picked up by both. He whimpered and squealed, thinking that he should have changed into something else. His dog instincts took over completely, overriding most of Vlad's commands and barking at everyone. After several moments, he got control over himself, and he quietly walked over the one called Mis. He said in private to her I am just a regular puppy, okay?. He didn't want just about everybody to know his shape-shifting secret. His dog instincts took over yet again, forcing him to sniff what seemed like every square inch of the cave for several minutes at a time. I hope you can forgive me, Cratos said bowing his head at the gryphon. Cratos turned around to see that Elika had greeted him, a small smile crossed his face. Hello Miss Elika. It's good to see you again, he said to her. When Elkia picked up the dog and said her statement Cratos started to sniff at it as well. She was right, it didn't had that distinct dog smell. Cratos then licked the dog, a disgusted look went on his face. Yuck, I'm glad I didn't eat you. You taste gross, not like a dog at all! _________________ "Listen to them. She flew in that direction to snoop around and see why, her brother and sister always said she was to nosey, but she didn't care, she just like to look around. She heard some of it and they were arguing with a dragon named Artemis. Why is everyone arguing? I suppose you can stay here until the rain stops. Mis looked up towards the sky to see a dark gray dragoness flying in to see what all the ruckas was about. No one's arguing! she snapped. I'm just not comfortable with so many people in my territory! Mis sighed. Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders	Re: The Calm Before the Storm Elika slapped her hand over her mouth, trying to stop from laughing after Cratos licked the 'puppy', but it didn't last long. With in seconds Elika was rolling on the ground with laughter. She stood up when a dragon approached. "Oh, just some petty things that aren't really important," Elika answered the dragon. She then wipped the grass and mulch off her and walked into the cave. "I'm Elika, this is Cratos, and the darker griffin is Artemis." "This," she said picking up the puppy, "Well we have no idea what it is. It doesn't smell like a puppy, and Cratos discovered that it didn't taste like one either," she cracked a smile again. She carried the puppy to the cave exit and said to it,"Until you let us know what you really are, you're staying outside, plus I doubt you're potty trained." The tossed the puppyish thing out into the rain and threw a magical wall up to keep it and the rain out. He didn't think he would've been thrown out so easily. He slowly turned to face everyone. He gave them puppy dog eyes, willing them to let him back into their cave. Then he gave a little bark and began chasing his own tail. Eventually, he realized that he really didn't want to get back in. He knew no body would really understand him. He simply rolled his eyes, when Elkia started to laugh. When the dragon arrived Cratos bowed, like he always did, and greeted her. "Elika, don't you think thats a little harsh? Does it really matter if it's not a puppy?" Cratos asked feeling a little sorry for the creature being out in the rain. "You have to admit, it does provide good entertainment," Cratos noted when it started to chase it's tail. Cratos couldn't stand it anymore. He walked out of the cave and flew into the forest only to return a few minutes later with a elephant ear leaf in his beak. He placed the steam into that ground near the rock where the dog was resting and went under it. He extended his right wing to cover the dog from the rain. Even if it wasn't really a dog, and even if it smelt weird and tasted bad, he didn't deserve to get kicked out and get stuck in the rain. _________________ "Listen to them. Thanks though, this rain is annoying. she said and went in. She lied down, glad to be away from the rain and looked around So what is everyone doing here? she asked. Sure, it wasn't a puppy, she really knew what it was but Vladamir didn't want Mis to say anything to the others. She didn't understand why, so what if he had a cool ability? That was one more than she had. Quit picking on him and bring him in, she snapped. If you leave him out there, he's going to smell like wet dog, despite if he doesn't smell like one! Mis only shrugged her shoulders at Savania. Forget about it, she mumbled. I'm used to it. Believe me. And yes, please explain why you all had the gall to stroll into my territory uninvited, she added, narrowing her eyes. She had learn not to trust the unknown, but knew that she couldn't fear it either. The only reason she didn't bite it, was because of all the on lookers. She knew that there was a chance of flashback into it's memories, but that was extremely rare and something she couldn't control, but not impossible. Elika still couldn't wrap her head around Mis's attitude, she was so... so... nice in a mean way, she couldn't understand it. "We are all already soaking wet, as is the 'not dog.' It turned out that everyone liked a starving puppy more than a crazy elf determined to kill his brother. He got up, coming to the conclusion that there was no reason for him to stay. He stepped out into the rain, already surveying the area for any possible prey. Let's see what's on the menu today, said the vampire elf. The only thing he spotted was a large squirrel. Since he wasn't about to go catch an elf and get himself into some major trouble, he decided it would have to do. He ran at the squirrel, full speed. The squirrel was too busy burying nuts in the ground that it didn't notice the blood thirsty wana-be dog running right for him. Vlad caught the squirrel by it's throat, dragging it by it's neck to behind a tree, where the others couldn't see him. She used magic to rapidly decompose the wolf body until nothing but a skeleton was left. She used her magic to bury those and then clean the blood from her clothes. She ran back to the edge of the small clearing, then slowed to a normal walk as she stepped back into sight. After he was finished with his meal, he licked his lips and dragged the body of the dead animal and hid it in some bushes. Just as he was on his way back to the cave, he noticed that he was soaked in blood. He ran as fast as his four dog legs could carry him to a stream. There was an awkward silence for a moment between him and the dragon, when finally Cratos stretched his wings and spoke. Well, that was... fun. It'd be best to leave before she returns. He started to walk out of the cave when Elika was returning. Yes it seems so. Artemis doesn't want us around anymore, not that she wanted us here to begin with. Also theres a strong scent of blood in the air, and I wish to investigate, Cratos told Elika. He took another big whiff of the air trying to determine where the scent was coming from. IC: Artemis just watched them all leave with narrow and impatient eyes. She ws done with it, dealing with guests or intruders...they were all the same in her eyes. However, she couldn't help shake the feeling of guilt that flowed though her like a dark stream. She watched after Cratos with a sense she had never felt before, almost as if her heart was clenching painfully. Then there was the smell of blood that peaked her interest. When she tried to remember what that feeling was, it was long gone. With a shrug, Mis took off to catch up with Cratos. I want to go on this expedition to explore where the blood is coming from, she stated with finality in her tone, as though there was no choice in the matter. He scrubbed his fur even harder. If he didn't get out of there in time, he would be discovered. It would be so much more convenient if he knew how to turn into a fish.
