Re: avatar rocks You have a good point, Silv. The actor doesn't have to be bald, they can have fairly short hair and then they can easily put on something simple to make him look bald.
The problem is the other actors. Aang has pretty simple features, so he can't be too much of a problem. Here's what Aang looks like. Now take a look at Katara and Zuko. You can tell that these two are a bit harder to pull off then Aang is, well, in my opinion at least. Silv, you should sign up for Iroh! Send a letter to Nickelodeon and make sure you attach a picture of yourself.  _________________

There he is, some pretty boy singer dude, not even an actor, not at all into martial arts or action movies or anime stuff, and all of a sudden he just goes and tries out to be Zuko? Zuko, being the prince of the Fire nation, muscular, black hair, golden eyes, and there's his whole pessimistic character... how is Jesse gonna pull that off? And furthermore, who the heck selected him?! Find someone better for God's sake! Even someone unknown would be better....

Re: avatar rocks I agree completely with what you guys said. Jesse McCartney is honestly the LAST person I would think of to play Zuko. Seriously, his name would never come to mind. At least it's not decided yet, maybe whoever chose that pretty boy comes to their senses soon.
Katara and Sokka's actors didn't seem as bad as.. Jesse... but their skin tone should be darker, like Arya said. The guy for Sokka is pretty good actually, but after seeing Twilight, and considering how he basically didn't talk much or even smile, I don't know how he's gonna pull off the part for Sokka. He has to make constant jokes and crack people up most of the time.. don't see that happening. _________________

But seriously, if they just chose Dante Basco as Zuko and Jack DeSena as Sokka, that wouldn't even be that bad! They're voices would be perfect (literally) and Dante Basco even sort of looks like Zuko. Jack DeSena could probably pull it off, but again, his skin tone is way off. But he would be the same in looks as the actor from Twilight, except the voice would be better. There's one drawback though- we don't know how Dante Basco and Jack DeSena are as actors. They only do voices, we haven't really seen them do anything else. Although wasn't Jack DeSena in that show called All That?

Re: avatar rocks If he's a good actor, then we'll see... the thing is, he's a singer, so you wouldn't expect him to have much acting experience. Especially after making an impression of being such a pretty boy, I just can't imagine him playing the part of Zuko, a strong, serious, mature, ninja-type guy. I can't imagine... Fire Lord Jesse...
 Heh yeah, it is the largest and most populated city in the Avatar world. Not to mention the Earth Kingdom capital... I miss Avatar... lolEDIT: Aw, you posted before me Sokka lol. Anyway, to reply to what you said: Jack DeSena and Dante Basco would be pretty good choices, in terms of voices and appearance. Basco looks sort of like Zuko, all he needs to do is grow out his hair or maybe wear a wig. DeSena's skin tone would be off, like you said, but keep in mind that they could put on a lot of make-up or whatever to make him look darker. Plus he would have to cut his hair or something lol. I think Katara's actress was a very poor choice though. I honestly can't find a single resemblance. Here's a comparison between Jack DeSena and Jackson Rathbone:   See, they sort of look similar to me. But if they chose Jackson Rathbone, then the movie would be more popular and attract more viewers, since Twilight was such a huge hit and people would want to see how an actor from there would be in a different movie. _________________

The big thing isn't really about looks or whatever, it's really about the acting. I seriously doubt that Jesse McCartney has ever had any sort of martial arts training or skill or experience, yet he's going to play Prince of the Fire Nation. At least this Noah Ringer kid must have experience, since he's unknown and they probably picked him because of his martial arts skills. If he's really the final choice, Jesse has a LOT of work to do to train for this movie. |

Zuko has a certain aura about him... his insecurity, his drive to redeem his honor, his entire character... Jesse cannot embody that! He's a pretty boy singer! How on earth is he going to play Zuko? They have nothing in common!
Of course, the only reason they picked him is to attract fans... especially girls. I can imagine it now.. Random Girl #1: "Like, OH EM GEE, did you hear? Lyk, Jesse McCartney is gonna be in a new movie!" Random Girl #2: "GET OUT! You have lyk GOT to be kidding! He is like so effing HAWT!" Random Girl #1: "LYK it is SO totawlly true!" But Jesse... yeah, look at Zuko here. I can't imagine how he's gonna pull that off... @Arya: My thoughts exactly. His voice, for the majority of the show, is usually monotone and deep. If you listen to Jesse McCartney sing, he sounds like a freakin girl! I'm not even kidding, I listened to his song "I Want Candy" today, just to see what it was like (and make fun of him), and I honestly thought it was a girl singing at first. No joke. I hope his voice has matured by now... _________________

Re: avatar rocks Yeah, that's what disappoints me, that there's no picture of him on the Internet. I've tried looking around, but there's nothing. All the information we have is that he's this kid from Texas who's really good at martial arts. That's definitely a plus so far, but we need to see what he looks like! Hopefully he's not as big a mistake as Jesse.

Re: avatar rocks I have news!! So... in the movie, there's a role for the part of 'Young Aang', or Aang before he was the Avatar. I think they're gonna have some fl@shbacks back to the Southern Air Temple or something like that.. anyway, they found this kid to do the role. I guess he's good for the character...

Re: avatar rocks I think the kid for young Aang is pretty much set and perfect; really, I couldn't think they would be able to find someone better. But Noah Ringer... well, hmm, I don't know. He seems really young (of course, it is a younger picture of him), his hair is longer than the average boy's, and he also seems a little chubby. I think now he's outgrown all those things, so he's probably thinner and older-looking, and I don't think the hair will be too much of a problem, since he can easily shave it.
Overall, I think he was a decent choice, just like the actors for Sokka and Katara. Definitely better than Jesse obviously. _________________

He's going to have to grow it out or wear a wig, if he gets the part, that is. Plus his face... well, just not like Zuko's. Unless they put like 5 pounds of make-up on his face, only then can he pull off Zuko.

In Twilight, he was Jasper, who's usually like a quiet, reserved guy, and on the other hand, we have him playing Sokka, who's completely the opposite: funny, always making jokes. The two just don't go together. How will he pull that off? I honestly don't know his acting potential, but hopefully it'll be enough to be Sokka.

But I think that Taylor Lautner, the actor for Jacob in Twilight and Shark Boy in The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl, should play him. He has just the right skin tone and he's a pretty good actor. He can even do a lot of martial arts stunts. He could even do Zuko since Zuko had more fighting scenes than Sokka in the show.

I still think it'll be at least a decent movie though. Since Mike and Bryan have a say in it, there's no way it can turn out as bad as we may think. _________________

Re: avatar rocks Yea... but lets hope they actually put there say into the movies.... which im pretty sure they will since they did make tv shows out of it..... what i really mean is like you see some movies made from books, and the author is supposed to have their say, but they never really do, or never actually talk to the director.... but since this movie is based off of a tv series, the creators are going to be a little more strict on what they want from the director..... did that make any sense at all? tried to word it as short as possible lol

I know what you mean though. There's a good chance they're going to make improvements if they need to. I don't think they're gonna let their own show become a pathetic failure of a movie. Didn't Christopher Paolini have a say in the Eragon movie? Because if he did, I bet he probably didn't use his power, judging by how much better the movie could've been. _________________
