Qaeos
OOC: My first evil charry...the general that tortured Syl throughout the years. However, he's not all that he appears to be...Name: Qaeos (kay-os)
Age: 650 years
Gender: Male Skills: Influence: Qaeos can, with a touch, infiltrate the minds he seeks. He must be touching them physically. It's more difficult for him to do so through a mental link, but it can be done. With a physical touch he can see the fears and weaknesses of his opponent and use it against them for an easier attack. Once he can conquer and infiltrate those he strikes fear into, those who are prone to it will fall victim to his mind-control. For stronger-minded foes, he would have to use almost all of his magical ability that would drain him excessively The Stone of Athamis: When Syllwin was captured, Qaeos had managed to find the treasure deep within one of the tallest mountains in the Beor range. He stole the black gem and fastened it into his neck so that he could have control over the spirits of the dead. Not only can he see them, but he can make their ghosts rise from wherever they rest to gain vengence on his enemies. The gem shines white as it captures the souls and Qaeos can use them to do his bidding. It has limitations, however. The gem, once completely shining with white light, cannot absorb any more. Shadow-Tap: Qaeos has the ability to manipulate any type of shadow magic that surrounds him. He can take the shadow of a person and use it against them, as well as taking shadow magic and forming it around himself. He has always had this kind of power, ever since he was young, and shunned for it. There are limitations to his shadowy power; he can only have control over the shadows for a small period of time otherwise the shadows will completely take him over and he won't have control over them anymore. Race: Human...or so everyone thinks he is. He is a Shadow Shifter, a dark dragon that can take the form of a human.
Hair: Black
Eyes: Dark brown
Home Village: North of the Spine
Parents: Unknown
Siblings: Unknown
Character Personality: Qaeos, before he went mad, was ambitious and an over-achiever. He worked for Galbatorix and always felt like he was in Galby's shadow never able to achieve anything himself. He goes out on a limb just to try something no one else has ever done before. Over and over again he'd go out with his army and try to prove to Galby that he is someone who is worthy to follow in his King's footsteps. Galby, however, overlooked the young general and that sent Qaeos over the edge. To prove his worth, Qaeos went out and did something that no one has ever attemtped to do before. He went in search of the Stone of Athamis. Galbatorix forbade him to do so, and that was when Qaeos decided to quit his rank as General and went in search for it. Before this occured, he was ordered by Galbatorix to torture and break dragons of special and unique abilities. One of these dragons happened to be Syllwin, a special case. For twenty years he tortured these dragons and it corrupted his mind, rotting him from the inside out. His ambition has taken an ugly turn, and now he is determined to make Syllwin his dragon partner and he wants to become her rider for purposes on he truly knows. Her powers, and the powers within her, makes Qaeos want to use her for domination. He enjoys watching others suffer as he has inflicted pain on others for many years. Whenever someone begs or pleads for mercy he never gives it to them. Instead he tortures and beats the victim until they die. He feeds off the fear in others very easily and uses his opponents fears against them. Since he has some kind of mind control, Qaeos can infiltrate his enemy's mind and find their fear and uses it as a weapon. Often times, when the fear becomes too great, his opponent gives in. When Qaeos captured the Stone, his mind became more corrupt as he harvests souls to use in an army against others. He thinks that fear and manipulation will get him where he wants in life an by that factor no one would be able to stop him as everyone has a fear, including his own though he's not willing to admit it.
Character History: Qaeos had hatched just on the edge of the Spine, where he had no family or friends to support him. The only person he ever had ever known was a Shade, whose magic influenced Qaeos when he was inside the egg. Qaeos hadn't realized that the darkness had taken over the good part of his heart for the longest time. The Shade, never revealing his name, didn't stay for long. He only watched over Qaeos for a few days before disappearing into the shadows. For Qaeos life was never easy. As a dragon, he had to learn how to hunt and how to fly on his own time, no one was around to teach him. He mostly stayed around the Spine for the Shade had informed him of dangerous things outside of the mountains and forests that could harm a dragon at his young age. Within the next couple years, Qaeos had been fully grown and was able to fly. He even discovered his dark blue flame.
Curious about the world outside of the Spine, Qaeos ventured out and travelled around Alagasia; from the Hadarac, to the Du Weldenvarden. At that point, Qaeos could not understand what was so dangerous about the world. There was barely anyone around, and Qaeos wasn't in the mood to find friends. Over the next century, Qaeos had discovered his ability to appear like a human. He used it often when he travelled through villages, and also found his ability to control shadows. Qaeos found it amusing to scare kids with his shadow abilities, making anything that had a shadow come to life before them. When he was in his dragon form, Qaeos fought in many battles, often against his own wild kind or ones with riders. Eventually, he began to grow a hatred towards his bretheren, and felt more of a connection with humans. He hated his dragon side, and began to stay more so in his human form.
Over time, Qaeos found the love of his life, a woman, within 250 years since he hatched, and she bore him two sons and a daughter. He cherished his family, never scaring them or acting ill towards them. He felt this was what he was looking for in his life, and Qaeos thought everything in his world was completed. Though over time, when he became 300 years old, his wife began to notice he never aged; never a sign of a gray hair or a wrinkle. Qaeos eventually told her what he was, a dragon who could take shape as a human. That hadn't gone over well, and the family he had made, who he had come to love so much, shunned him and cast him out for they never wanted to speak to him again.
Without a home, without someone to love, Qaeos set out towards the Beor mountains, where he spent the next two hundred years in solitude. During that time, Qaeos sunk into depression, allowing his demons to overtake his heart and soul. He stayed in his dragon form, hunting only when he got hungry, drinking only when he got thirsty. During the time of his sulking his shadow powers became greater. He found he could control any remaining shadow magic emitted from an evil source and gather it together. For another century Qaeos worked hard on his magic skills, practicing over and over again until he was sure he could master them well. When he was about 630, Qaeos noticed some humans pillaging a town, setting it on fire with a couple dragons swooping in. He watched for the longest time, getting closer as he found out that they belonged to an army ordered by someone named Galbatorix. When the soldiers were finished, they travelled and Qaeos followed them closely, interested to find out who this Galbatorix person was.
They travelled over the Hadarac Desert and into what was called The Empire. He followed them from high above until they came to a sinister-looking castle. Qaeos wondered if this Galbatorix was a king. He transformed himself into a human when he was well enough away from the castle and made his move. He walked in, asking if he couldl meet with Galbatorix, only to be dragged towards the dungeon. He fought and kicked, exclaiming he had more experience and power to give to this kingdom whereas none of them had any. Galbatorix over heard the commotion and decided to find out just who this person was. He put Qaeos through a series of tests when he found out that Qaeos could transform into a dragon and viseversa into a human. The tests were brutal, leaving Qaeos with many scars to prove it. The final test was to kill one of his own kind. Without thinking twice, Qaeos delivers a fatal blow in the dragon's neck. That was when Qaeos's evil side began to manifest. Galby found something useful in this 630 year old dragon. He decides that, at first, Qaeos would be in charge of overseeing torture procedures.
During the next 20 years Qaeos breaks many dragons to do Gably's bidding, and during that time his mind begins to become more rotted, evil, and twisted as these beatings went on. Every dragon that he met, he made sure he could inflict fear and obedience in. He even found his new power, what he calls Influence, where he can worm his way through the souls of the dragons and find their weakness/fear for the more stubborn ones. He also discovered he can look like anyone he's touched but only when he was in human form. Within those twenty years, Galby had promoted Qaeos as his General to take his army in search of dragons with special and unique abilities. Eager to please Galby, Qaeos set off immediately in search of these dragons. His first capture was going to be Syllwin.
He had heard of this ice dragon, when her eye changed color along with her mood as well as her ice breath when she didn't have a fire breath. Curious to meet her himself, Qaeos doesn't wait. They capture the young dragoness and bring her back to the castle, where Galby orders her to be broken. Just to make things interesting, Qaeos is to look like Galby so Syllwin wouldn't know who was truly responsible for her beatings.
Syllwin was subjected to a few years of torture and beatings, while Qaeos, disguised as Galby, watched over her breaking. She proved to be very stubborn, to the point where the beatings were becoming immune. Qaeos was tempted to use his mind powers on her, however he wanted to use a different method of torture. It would have been much to easy if he simply found her greatest fear and used it against her like the others. Instead, he brought out one of their captives, Leo, and ordered Syllwin to kill him. When she refused, Qaeos brought out a young boy and then ordered his death instead. Syllwin seemed up to the task, and encased the boy in ice. Qaoes couldn't help but laugh that she had killed Leo's rider and therefore had killed him too. Realizing her mistake, Syllwin melts the ice surrounding the boy when she and Leo are put back into their prison. Not realizing what was going on, Qaeos went to Galby and informed him of their triumph over Syl while in that time Syl had discovered her new power; illusions. She used it to help the boy and Leo escape, right under Galby and Qaeos's noses.
Outraged, Galby ordered for her capture, but it was too late. She and the dragon rider pair had vanished. Galby took his fury out on Qaeos, while Qaeos pleaded with the king that he could do better. He'd find another dragon like her and get him/her on their side. Galby had had enough and told him to go tend to his duties as being a torturer. Aggravated, Qaeos went out instead to look for other dragons that the king might find liking to. Whenever he did, however, Galby merely brushed him aside as he attended to more important matters. Qaeos began to realize that after his mess-up, Galby was never going to take Qaeos serious again. Qaeos decided to research for something that would overlook his mistake and win Galby on his side once more. Within the next year, Qaeos had found something that surely if he went and accomplished, Galby would find him all the more respectable once again.
Qaeos found the legend of the Stone of Athamis.
The legend had told of a stone that, black at first, would turn white as the bearer harnessed souls and spirits within itself. That user could make the spirits do their bidding, and inflict help, or harm whoever the weilder was, on others. The mountain itself was a dragon named Athamis who changed himself into the precepice to guard the gem he found was too powerful for any one person. Into the night, he resigned himself as General, and Qaeos had taken his dragon form and headed straight back for the Beor Mountains, where he first discovered Galby's army. In the next few days, Qaeos reached the mountain only to discover that two others were surrounding the mountain. It was a white dragon and a humanoid figure. He recognized that scent anywhere; it was Syllwin.
Thinking quickly, Qaeos found his way within the mountain, taking a back cave that Syllwin, nor the humanoid figure, would have found. He travelled through the tunnels, avoiding all the booby-traps, as he made his way into the main chamber deep underground. Before he made his way in there, Qaeos found trolls that were easy to manipulate their minds with. Qaeos had ordered them to attack the human creature, but to leave Syllwin to him. With that, they set out through the tunnels, and Qaeos was pleased to hear that one of them had roared as it found its prey. Within the main chamber, he found the stone sitting neatly in the claw of a stone statue of a dragon. He changed himself into a human, and quickly took the stone into his hands. He examined the stone with great wonder as Syllwin made her way into the chamber as well. He immediately went to his pocket and extracted a small disk that, when flung, would capture his victim and create a dome cage that was impenetrable by magic or dragon breath...of any kind.
When Syllwin came to, Qaeos explained why Syllwin was so important to capture, that she was the reincarnation of Icsys as they had all known. Syllwin did not believe him, but more importantly kept trying to escape the dome. It was futile. Qaeos then had an idea to make Syllwin his dragon partner. Even though he was a dragon himself, Qaeos could make Syllwin his obedient slave and together they could make their own armies and conqure the world himself. He was able to touch Syllwin's forehead, and make his way into her mind, just as the human creature Aaron burst through with the troll accompaning him. Thinking this was his time to make his retreat, Qaeos took the stone with him and exited the chamber into a back tunnel, the rocks from above covering the hole. He had made his escape.
Qaeos had managed to exit the mountain, with the stone in his grasp. He had been able to put it to his chest, and it infused with his skin so that he could control the souls around him to begin an undead army. He transformed into a dragon and flew over to the Spine, where he first was born and began to plan. He knew that Syllwin would be after him again, now that she knew who he was this time. Her friend Aaron seemed to be bent on going after him as well. It didn't matter to him if he made enemies, it only made the game more interesting. His next step was going to make the army, see if he could make an alliance with Galbatorix, and anyone else evil and dark enough in the world, to make all the dragons their slaves. More so, if he could find a way to unleash the darkness that was in his heart out into the world, he would make sure his enemies would pay dearly, including those who ridiculed him and turned him away.
Weapons: The Stone of Athamis, a sword, and his magic.
Likes: Torturing, beating, cruelty, darkness

Character's Physical Description: When Qaeos is in his dragon form, he's about thirty-five to fourty feet in length with a wingspan of almost thirty feet. He is extremly muscular. His scales are as dark as shadow itself, with brown almost black colored eyes. In his human form, Qaeos is about six foot two inches tall, with dark brown eyes and black hair that matches his scales. He has battle scars from over the years including one that runs along side his body that also shows up in his human form. His skin is also pale, hardly a tan on him. His wings have a shimmery dark silver, almost metallic that matches his belly. His talons are also large. Weakness/fear: Light and someone beating him in battle.
Dreams for the Future: World domination with shadows.

Re: Qaeos
Good job, Astral. A very interesting charry. There are a few things I'd like to clarify, though. How exactly does the Stone of Athamis work? Because you can't bring back the dead... that's just impossible in this world. That's the only problem I see with that. If you'd like we can discuss through pms because it is a cool idea, but I think it might need clarification.
Also, make sure his Influence ability has some limitations. Finding fears of others is fine, as long as it's difficult for him to actually take over a mind (as in, our stronger-minded charries would be able to resist). That's all lol.
So yeah I'd just like to address those two things. Otherwise, this is looking awesome so far. A very sweet first evil charry.

Re: Qaeos
Oh no lol what he can do is access the souls in a present state in time and they appear as ghosts to attack his enemies. I didn't realize that could have been taken a different way. XD Also, to "Influence" it does have the limitation of having a harder time to access stronger minds. It's possible, since he's had time to develop his powers it drains him of energy. I can add that and edit it.

Re: Qaeos
Alright excellent. So yeah just make sure there's a limit to this power then as well.
Anyway, since I trust you'll do that, I Accept.
