Fyretongue
This is my book that I'm writing. I based my RPG characters on it. If people have any comments, you can reply back to me. I'll be writing more later.

Prologue: Fate’s Beginning
There was a flash of lightning, and a long line of cloaked figures were revealed. The torrent of rain fell in sheets, driving the night into an indecipherable darkness. An elf waited on the side of the road, hidden by the undergrowth. He quickly scanned the line of people but didn’t find what he was looking for.
The rest of the line passed quickly by, and soon they were gone, anlong with the goblin guards. Dejectedly, the elf started to walk out on the muddy road, when he heard voices. He shrank back into the shadows, as he waited for the sources to come into view. It took some time, for the elf had sharp hearing.
Around the bend came two solitary figures. The elf’s heart raced. Could these be the two he was looking for? One of them was just the right height for a human child. He was limping badly. The other was less than four feet tall. Could it really be… He stepped forward eagerly, wanting to get a closer view, but he slipped and knocked a few loose stones out onto the road.
The three goblin guards that had come up behind, turned their head in his direction. As the guards turned away from the two companions, the taller one was sliding his hand into his boot. The elf lay very still, hoping the goblins wouldn’t notice him. In the blink of an eye, the stranger slammed the dagger into one of the goblins. I t fell with a groan. The other two whirled around, and advanced toward him.
“
So this is what you’ve been hiding,” one of the goblins said in a snarling voice. “What else is there that I don’t know?”
The stranger laughed. “A lot more you will never figure out.”
The elf began to draw out his bow, moving slowly so the goblins attention didn’t suddenly shift to him. The goblin lunged for the stranger who spoke, and twisted his left arm behind his back. In that process, the stranger’s hood fell off. The elf was struck with surprise. The stranger was a girl! She had long brown hair that went past her shoulders. Through the gloom he could see that the girl had a band around her head with a fire-jewel on it, and fire-colored feathers all around it. That was the headdress of the Chieftain of the Tree People!! The Tree People had a special alliance with the elves because both shared a love for the forest. They were basically a tribe of humans that lived in the Silent Wood. All of them could climb trees as well as an elf, and they built their cities among the branches.
He gasped, and the girl turned her head sharply in his direction. They were dragon eyes, slitted and flame-colored. The elf lay flat on the ground trying to avoid her burning glare. A few seconds later, she had averted her gaze. He looked up, and saw why: the goblin that was previously holding the girls arm was now on the ground. Hissing with anger, the gobbling rose up and stumbled toward her, only to be stopped by the elf’s arrow. The body slumped to the ground, an arrow sticking out of its chest.
The third goblin backed up and drew his sword. The elf heard a noise, and realized the girl was singing. The goblin looked confused, then alarmed as she raised her hand. A jet of fire issued from her palm, and smote the goblin in the chest. The flames consumed his entire body, reducing it to ashes.
The elf stared at them in wonder as he emerged from the shadows. He was going to ask the girl who she was, but a fourth goblin that was out of his line of sight, came up behind him, and knocked him to the ground. He rolled over and saw the goblin point his sword downwards. The elf tried to get out of the way, but he knew he was moving too slow. Right as the goblin was bringing his sword down, the short stranger slammed a staff into the goblin’s stomach. The staff flashed, and the goblin jumped back, swearing. The stranger, whoever he or she was, created a ball of energy, which struck the goblin and killed it instantly.
“My name is Evan,” he said, pushing back his hood to reveal medium-length brown hair and slightly pointed ears, “nice of you to drop by.”
The elf picked himself up off the ground, retrieved his bow, and turned to the girl. “Who are you?” he asked.
She laughed. “I thought that was kind of obvious. I’m Fyresong.”

What do you want to know about the character.
And about my story, I am trying to develop the characters throughout the book, so I not going to explain everything in the first part.

Oh, sure, its thinking you have made completely original names that sound pretty cool, then ruin the whole thing by finding out that SOMEONE HAD ALREADY TAKEN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chapter 1: Fyresong’s Quest
That incident was three years ago, when the goblins raided the Silent Wood. The elves and terrans were able to repel them, but the Tree People fell to their wrath. Many were killed, even more were captured. As for that elf, I never figured out who he was, where he came from, or why he was there. Evan and I collapsed on the road, having been forced to march all the way from the Karok River Pass to just south of Myrilan, with nothing to eat in between. The elf ran away before I could ask him anything when members of the resistance group approached.
Right now, we were in the company of Bezei*, which is the resistance group. Resisting what, you say. Well, I’ll tell you. Long before I was born, every force in Cyriona (and the lands beyond) has been resisting Him. He has no name, or at least none that we have found. He is a wraith, a shadow that has been creeping up on Cyriona for ages. In the current times, though, our biggest threat is Lord Sorhan. He is the one who finally captured Cyriona, drove the dragons out of our land, burned many of the cities, terrorized the people in them, and gave orders to raid the Silent Wood. Yes, it was he that Bezei was resisting.
I had made friends with Evan, the terran, when we met in the silent Wood. What is a terran? Well, I can see why you asked that. They are not like humans-or elves, for that matter-at all. You see, terrans are very short, rarely ever growing about four feet tall. They also have other physical features that make them stand out-large emerald-colored eyes, and slightly pointed ears. They are also a magical race, and strong at using it too. Evan was no exception, though he tended to be more annoying then terrans usually are.
To the enemy, I am known only as the Avenger. I wear a black mask and cloak so they could never see who I was. One time, I heard a guard saying “It is death to hear the Avenger’s voice on the wind.” When I had killed the guards, or whoever I was attacking, I wrote the word “REVENGE” in fiery letters. Hence, how I got my name. To everyone else, I was Fyresong.
Right now, I was talking with the leader of Bezei, who was being steadfastly uncooperative. He also had an annoying habit of calling me Song, which I absolutely hated.
*derived from the elven word bezek “to resist”
“Song,” he was saying, “I just can’t let you go out on those raids anymore. It’s too dangerous. Besides, you might get captured.”
“Can you please stop calling me Song? I hate it when you do that,” I said, trying to draw him off the original subject.
“It’s just that you’re being a bit too cavalier,” he said, ignoring my comment.
“I’m not being careless,” I exclaimed, “I’m doing better than you have in like five years!”
“I want you to understand one thing,” he said, “you are now forbidden to go anywhere without my permission, starting tomorrow. Do you understand?”
“You are playing with fire, you know. Don’t test me. I have been known to get very angry.”
After that statement I turned around and left. I couldn’t stand the sight of his face any longer. Evan was waiting for me outside, and fell in beside me.
“What did he say?” Evan asked.
“That retoja* told me I was being too cavalier,” I grumbled.
Evan smirked. “I’ll bet you didn’t like that.”
“Of course I didn’t! I don’t need anyone telling me what to do. This place is driving me crazy? I need to get away.”
“Yeah, you better. I don’t know why you can’t stick up for yourself. I definitely know you can get angry.”
“It’s not my fault; it’s just that I seem to have two different personalities: one that’s quiet, and one that’s outgoing.”
“That’s no excuse,” he replied.
“I’m going hunting,” I said shortly, “and I should be back before dark.”
“Yeah, hunting will definitely make you feel better. Nothing like killing an innocent forest animal to cheer you up!”
My response to that was to throw the nearest object at him, which happened to be a water pitcher. Ignoring Evan’s protests, I started to hum a low note. Gradually, my body changed into that of a dragon. I spread my wings and took to the sky.
* * *
As I flew, I thought about some things that have been troubling me recently. No matter what Bezei did, how many goblins and other servants of Sorhan we killed, it didn’t seem to do anything. Not to mention just sitting around while Cyriona withered under a shadow was infuriating. I wanted to do something important. I wanted to save Cyriona, not just fight a few goblin guards. the problem was there was nothing to do. The only way to possibly save Cyriona was to find the three Orbs of Power, and restore the magic back to the dragons, but that was suicide. No one even knew where the Orbs were.
The beautiful forests of the Green Mountains scrolled beneath me, untouched by the shadow my whole world had fallen under. My stomach growled, reminding me of why I had come here in the first place. Quickly, I hunted down a deer and killed it. Finally, flying a short distance to a clearing, devoured it greedily. As I was about to leave, a glimmering light caught my eye.
I shifted back to human form, and pushed myself forward, finally reaching the source of the glimmer. It was a glowing symbol etched on a boulder. Deciphering it was impossible, so I scrape d away the moss that was covering most of the symbol. Once all of it was revealed, it started to glow brighter and brighter. I finally saw what it looked like. The symbol was a dragon’s eye with five beams of light coming out of the top, and rimmed with fire below. It was the symbol of the Guardian, which is like a god to dragons. I ran my finger over the glowing lines, peering close at the stone.
Why would the Guardian’s symbol be on a rock, I thought, unless…there is something else here. Straightening up, I began feeling around for a crack in the rock face. Fie minutes later, I was about to give up, when I touched an irregular lump of stone. Leaning down, I could faintly make out thin lines in the shape of an eye on the irregularity. Just the right position for a doorknob, too.
I pushed on the knob, and it slid into the rock face. Suddenly, a door swung open, revealing a pitch-black corridor. Overcome by curiosity, I stepped inside. As soon as I cleared the door, it slammed shut behind me, leaving me in impenetrable darkness. Luckily, a line of torches flared up, showing the rest of the corridor. I could see faintly a chamber at the end of this passage, from which a slight draft of air emanated.
In no time at all I reached the chamber, not counting a few cobwebs I ran into. (I hate spiders!) It was relatively small, but there were drawings on the wall shining like the Guardian’s symbol on the door. One picture showed a terran holding a baby dragon in his hands. Another showed a girl kneeling in front of a dragon. There were strange words under it, possibly from the dragon language:
Krac sea jaydewyng taylon ser men kronodrak
Yet another drawing depicted two dragons in a mating ritual. Another drawing beside it showed a fleet of ships sailing off across the sea. Below it was an inscription that said, “One life has ended, now a new one will begin.”
Finally, I got to another glowing Guardian symbol. This time, there were other drawings around it. I looked down at some sort of altar-like structure. A sword in its sheath lay there. The sheath was midnight black, with flames around the edge. The handle, however was black with a silver dragon winding around it. I lifted the sword and drew it out. I slid soundlessly out of its sheath. The blade was a blazing orange and red, and the flickering torchlight made it look like the sword was on fire.
That sword is yours, Fyresong, daughter of the dragons. A voice rang out, deep and sad. Keep it, for your story is about to be told.
I spun around, but no one was there. “Who are you?” I asked.
There is no need for me to tell you.
“Why are you here?”
Look up into the drawing and you shall find that answer.
I followed these instructions and studied the drawings around the eye. The first one was of a tower with many sharp spires. In the tallest one, there was a shining crystal.
That is the Tower of Safeguard .There lays the first crystal.
“But what is the crystal for?” I asked. My temper was starting to rise.
You shall see.
I bit back a retort, gritted my teeth, and looked at the next drawing. This one depicted a swamp. In the very center was a second glowing crystal.
That is the Swamp of Mystery. It is guarded by a fearsome creature, which you must defeat to get the second crystal.
Next, I looked at a picture of a maze. There was a sphinx in the very middle, sitting on a third crystal.
That is the Labyrinth of the Sphinx. You must solve her riddles before she gives you the crystal.
The final picture was of a large mountain with fire spewing out of the top. The path to the mountain was blocked by black gates. On the bottom, an inscription said: Here lies the Heart of Fire.
Suddenly, a thought dawned on me. “You need the crystals to open the gate!”
Yes, and then you will advance to Coryianda Peak. At the summit is the Red Orb.
“Wait a second. You want me to restore the Triangle of Power??!”
Yes.
“Are you crazy? That’s suicide!!!”
No it is not. When you are alone it is, but ou shall have companions. Evan, for one.
“For one?
More shall follow.
“Oh, that’s helpful,” I retorted.
You must go on this quest. You have been chosen. Before I go, I must tell you one thing. When you meet up with Lord Sorhan, you must say one thing to him: This is only the beginning. Keep those words in you heart, and shall find out what it means.
The voice faded away and then fell silent. I sat there for a minute, then put the sword in its sheath and buckled it onto my belt. Filled with a new confidence, I stood up and walked away. The voice was right; this was only the beginning.
I'm now working on Chapter 2: Sage
