Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr: Dragons in the spine

The light of the dawn had not yet even broke the horizon as the surviving dragons from Dracondor, now called Du Skulblakeya abr Brisingr, were still in slumber. That is all instead of Zil'caron the alpha of the clan. Zil'caron has had trouble sleep comfortably since Galbatorix and Shruikan slaughtered his parents. It was the only thing he could think of, worried that something like that could happen again and take the only remaining thing that he loved away from him. Who was his mate, Silvera. Zil'caron was constantly checking to make sure she was okay, He worried every second that something bad would rip him from her or he from him. He woke suddenly like he had so many nights already just to make sure she was still there and that she was safe. When he saw that she was indeed okay, he gently wrapped his wing around her and started to lay his head back on the ground when she stirred. Zil is everything okay? You've been waking up worried and scared every night for the past week. Is something wrong? Silvera asked him. She knew something was bothering him. in the six years that they had been soul-mates he had never acted like this. Not since the destruction of the city. I am fine now. Now that I know that you are safe and well. He told her licking her on her snout. I'm just so afraid of losing you like I've lost everybody else he said as his became glassy, and a few tears started to run from the corners of his eyes Zil it's okay, it's okay. I'm not going any where. I'll always e right here with you She said as she placed her head underneath Zil's and wrapped her wing around him as he did her. I love you Zil, and I'll never be with any other than you. I will always be right here with you. Nothing will ever happen to split us apart. I love you too much to let that happen She told him. I'm just so afraid that something is going to happen to you. I know you'll never intentionally leave me, and I love you so very much as well. Which is why I'm worried about someone hurting you, or even killing you Silvera. Ever since we've lost the city, I've had this constant fear of waking up to find you dead and out eggs shattered. I don't want that to happen. I can't live on without you nor could I bear it if anything happened to our eggs. I love you to much Sil. I just can't live without you. I won't let that happen. Don't worry, We will always wake up together. Safe and sound. Now you should try to get some rest She said as Zil started to lay his head back down and she laid hers right next to his licking him a couple time on the side of his snout. I love you Zil. Nothing will ever change that, and nothing will ever separate us. No even death. She told him as they closed their eyes and awaited the dawn, which came far to soon for their liking. So much for getting rest Silvera commented as she let out a long yawn. I wonder if there are any other dragons here in Alagaesia still or if Galbatorix has destroyed them to. Hopefully we will find out soon that he didn't destroy them all, and that they are friendly to outsiders Zil'caron replied nudging one of their three eggs. It shouldn't be much longer. He recently had a vision of a group of fifteen dragons awaiting either death at the hands of Galbatorix or salvation from who-knows-what. Underneath him, the White Stag ran. Faefnir had insisted that he remain at Stronghold because his white coat will attract too much attention, but the Stag was insistant on accompanying. Faefnir knew from their years together that the Stag was not one to succumb to others wishes, so Faefnir had no choice but to let him come. They passed just north of Dras Leona, then angled north, parallel to the Spine, and began searching for the marooned dragons within. It was almost dawn before Faefnir finally saw something in the thick trees: the glorious silver body of a dragoness sleeping. Faefnir and the Stag knew this was the group they were searching for. As the sun started to rise in the East, Faefnir silently landed his 100 by 50 foot bulk. It didn't take long for the Stag to join him. Faefnir's instinct to observe the sunrise had to be pushed down, as there were more pressing matters to attend to. Faefnir decided to wake Silvera first, figuring she wouldn't be as frightened to see him than her black mate. Faefnir made his move quickly and brushed his nose against the top of Silvera's snout. She started to rise and said, I wasn't really sleeping. I was just resting here for a little longer She said then started to get up. Then she realized that it was not Zil'caron that had woke her. Zil'caron had never called her young one before. She woke up immediately on the defensive and shot over by Zil, waking him up in the process. She saw that the one who had woke her up was a large gold dragon. She didn't know if he meant them harm or what his intentions was. It was obvious that he was a native dragon, and from his approach obvious that he did not intend harm. He woke me up she told Zil. Zil'caron felt Silvera suddenly rush to his side and he rose immediately enraged. He feared that something was attacking her. When he saw the gold dragon there he almost lost it. It took every fiber of his being not to attack the dragon, but he had a sense of knowing that the dragon meant no harm. He heard Silvera tell him that the dragon had woke her up. Obviously if this dragon had intended to harm her he would have just killed her while she was sleeping. but Zil'caron still remained alert. Who are you, and what are your intentions? Are you a native of this land? he asked cautiously trying to figure out who he was dealing with _________________ Spyro: "Cynder, you're a genius!" Cynder: "I have my moments."

She had never been there before, and was eager to explore. She was a little over a month old now and had learned to fly long ago. She stayed high in the air, out of sight of potential enemies. The thin strip of gold on her otherwise green right eye suddenly glowed. Phalynx was using her power of Observance. This power gave her the ability to see in infrared and ultraviolet light, and also the ability to see events taking place far away. Sometimes she even saw visions of the past or future, but only in dreams. She scanned the area in infrared, looking for prey, but found instead a group of mostly slumbering dragons. Phalynx angled her lithe, star-silver colored body towards the group. She smiled when she saw the familiar shape of Faefnir. The scent of the dragons reached her, and she frowned. The other dragons with Faefnir smelled different from the dragons she had already met. She detected a hint of the sea in their scent; perhaps they had come from somewhere beyond Alagaesia. If you speak of Shruikan, then I wish him to come here. So I can taste his blood, so he can feel my wrath for destroying our city, and our families. Shruikan will pay for the destruction he has caused. I look forward to feeding my clan with his flesh. He then started to calm down slightly, I am sorry about that. My name is Zil'caron. I and the leader of this clan. This is my mate and Alphess Silvera. I am not normally this tense, but the last time I saw a strange dragon, it wiped out all except for what you see.. He told the dragon as he turned to the side to dhow only fifteen other dragons in the area. All the others were slaughtered when our city fell. It was not only at the hands of Galbatorix, but another rider named Zurcon who now rules over Menkarane as well. Though Galbatorix killed him to in the battle. One thing we will need help with though, is that when Galbatorix Raided our city, he destroyed our hatcheries, unintentionally destroying many eggs in the process. The reason I say unintentional is because Galbatorix still has about fifty of our eggs with him where ever he is. he said as he looked down at their own eggs. At least our eggs were saved. I feel so bad for all the mothers that lost theirs. I wish that there was a way to help them. but we can't fix broken eggs. All we can do is get the ones that were stole back to the parents. If the parents of a rescued clutch are no longer alive then the eggs will be giving to one of the seven mothers here who lost every egg they had. many of them lost hatchlings to. Will you help us get the stolen eggs back? She said as another silver dragon landed in the area. trying to be careful not to disturb any of the sleeping dragons. She appeared weary, but friendly, so she didn't make much of and said, Vie Driacona, Hia knis nur niyame? she asked the dragon. She then realized that the native dragons here probably didn't speak their version of draconic. Then she re-iterated, hello dragon, what is your name she said to the silver dragon in the distance _________________ Spyro: "Cynder, you're a genius!" Cynder: "I have my moments."

I know all about your plight. I will help you retrieve your eggs, but it will take a long time. Galbatorix most likely has them sealed in his vault. Only when he is defeated are the eggs going to be returned to you. Now, muster your people. Shruikan is closer. Then he noticed a silver dragon, rather young, land near the area. I've been gone. Phalynx looked at the adult silver dragon and said I am Phalynx. I heard what you were telling Faefnir, and I hope you find peace. She turned to Faefnir when he warned her of Shruikan's approach. She had heard of Shruikan, but had never seen him. I shall fly high out of sight, Faefnir, if you think that I am in grave danger here. But, I'm not leaving completely; I'm not afraid to defend myself, Phalynx said bravely. She thought that she could probably outfly Shruikan, for she was smaller and her wings were quite enormous in comparison to her body size. She looked around warily, and Observed, using her infrared vision. Zil'caron told the gold dragon. He knew Shruikan was a monster and so did the rest of the clan. He was not going to let him get away with stealling so many eggs and killing so many innocent dragons. He had no business in their lands to begin with. Zil'caron clawed the ground impatiently. Thinking about how to best handle the situation when Silvera started to stir. Silvera listened to Zil and Faefnir speak. She could feel the blood racing through the veins of his left wing as it was stretched out over her. She leaned into him even harder out of fear and love. We need to alert the clan that danger approaches. We knew it would only be a matter of time before they found us. maybe we will get lucky and it will just be Shruikan alone. They say that his union with his rider is not natural. He may only be being force to do all these nasty things while in reality he actually hate doing it. if he's alone we should give him a chance to speak. Silvera told him. She had always been the one to think there way out of violet disputes. She has alway been very good at reaching a peaceful solution when there is one to be had. She hated violence with a passion and hated having to kill. the only reason she hunts is to survive. I hope I'm not making a mistake by telling Zil to do that she thought. Zil'caron thought about what Silvera said. It was entirely possible that she was right. That Shruikan was actually a good dragon force to do things against his will, but he doubted it. Everything has a choice in what they do. Regardless if there is a bond or not a bond can be severed. he thought to himself. Then he saw the disgusting black dragon in the distance and he heard in his mind an unfamiliar voice, the voice of Shruikan. It is Shruikan, I am alone. Please do not attack me. I bear three eggs of yours. Galbatorix doesn't know I'm here. Please let me talk. Shruikan told him. I should not even let you near the clan after what you've done to us, but every one deserves a chance to explain themselves. you may land with safety. Though if we feel threated we won't hesitate to attack. Zil'caron told him. That is fair enough. Shruikan said as he began his descent. Don't attack him. I have promised him a safe landing. He wishes to speak with us, and he is alone. If you attack him without consent to do so. I will kill you he address to the clan. He then turned to Faefnir, Being a native of this land, you are not bound to my command, but I would appreciate it if you did not attack either, though I can't in all respects stop you from doing so. Though if you attack him keep in mind he's bearing 3 of our eggs that he had brought back he told him hoping he would adhere to his wishes. Shruikan may think him a clan member and he attack it would place enormous distrust on the clan not to mention put the three eggs that Shruikan was carrying in grave danger. _________________ Spyro: "Cynder, you're a genius!" Zil'caron, I know you're not a native of this land, but Shuikan and I have a very heated dislike for each other. He hates me, and I hate him. He has tried to kill me far too many times. But, since he holds three of your eggs, most likely hostage, I will not attack. Then he spoke to Zil'caron privately. Be most wary of him. He has been known to lie and cheat many times. She backed up into the shadows of trees, hiding herself. Shruikan landed with a dull thud and approached Zil'caron slowly and cautiously. Phalynx hid her eyes and used her Observance power yet again. She used her farsight ability to see far away. She could detect no soldiers, nor any other enemies. He's alone, Faefnir. I think we can trust him for now. He told Faefnir to where only he could here. I know full well what Shruikan is capable of, you forget, He killed my father. He then turned to Shruikan who was more than four times his size. trying to fight him would be suicide. Zil though, as Shruikan held true to his word and gently placed in front of Zil'caron the three eggs that he said he was carrying. I won't let Galbatorix do to them what he's done to me. Galbatorix has rid me of everything a dragon is known for. He has rid me of my honor, my pride, my dignity. I have no respect, not do I deserve it from the things that he's made me do. If it wouldn't put all of you in grave danger I'd let you kill me now. Shruikan told Zil'caron, then he added From now on I will bring out four or five of your eggs at a time until the number get to low that Galbatorix will start noticing, then you will have to launch a raid on Uru'bean to get the rest of them. I will make trips out here once every two weeks. to bring you eggs and to check up on the well being of the clan. And Zil, I truly am sorry for having to kill your father. Please understand that I had no choice in the matter. Honestly. I mean I didn't even have death as an option I was forced by Galbatorix's black magic that he controls me with to kill him. I can't resist it. it's just too strong. And Zil what ever you do don't let a dragon kill me. I must be killed by a human elf or dwarf. he finished. Why? What the difference to whether or not one of us kills you or your killed by a humanoid? Because Galbatorix has a spell on me to where his evil magic infects and takes over any dragon that kills me therefore making it his new slave. I'm telling you this to protect all of you, because then he'll use you to lead him back here, ad destroy the rest of the clan. I don't want that to happen. You think I like what he's done to our race? He's almost completely destroyed it here in Alagaesia, and from the looks of things did a really good number in Worloch as well. He told them. For now, I'm going to hold you to your word, but I'm going to let Faefnir talk to you and give you a piece of his mind now, as I'm sure he's been waiting for that since you've landed. He said as Shruikan Glared over t o Faefnir. He hadn't even noticed his presence, but he now wish he hadn't for it filled him with anger. He would not harm the clan, but Faefnir wasn't part of this clan now was he. She felt great pity for Shruikan, for he was not ment for this, but she knew that she could not let her pity cloud her judgement. Shruikan had been known for remarkably evil deeds in the past, and he could be lying. As Shruikan was turning towards Faefnir, he glanced her way. Phal flinched a little, not liking the look in his eye. He may be trying to redeem himself, but I doubt his master will allow it. What is Galbatorix planning? Phalynx thought, realizing that the evil king could be watching or waiting for Shruikan's return. The entire plan to wipe out the rest of the small clan of dragons. That is why she had followed him, knowing that the dragons would hear him out if he pleaded innocent, but know listening from high in the sky, shielded by clouds, she was sick. It was horrible to think a dragon had that much taint to him mind. Galby had planned for three of his best dwarves to roll up in to balls, then he had maliciously murded the hatchlings in the eggs and scooped them out then let his dwarven murders in the egs and used magic to make them look, smell and feel like normal eggs. But inside where miniture terrors that could bring down a dragon with their lethal axes, which had been made to bend and fit in the egs with the dwarves, and now here Shruikan stood with the dragons believing all he said, but she wouldn't let him harm them. The dwarves were set to break the eggs within five minutes of landing, and it had been four and a half. Star Gazer gave an earth shattering roar and dove out of the skies, her maw opened and then she slammed into Shruikan knocking him over, to where they rolled and knocked over trees in their paths. Her rider was in the forrest with Cobalt and the wolves plus Niliki and his animals. She was worried but didn't have time to react as Shruikan began to fight back ferousously. He had known of the plan all along.

If the hatchlings inside had been injured she could heal them with magic. As soon as she started to inspect the first egg, she noticed that there was something different about them something that was not normal. For she couldn't since the presence of the hatchling inside. She moved to inspect the other two eggs and she found the same thing. All the eggs were still alive, but there were no hatchlings inside of them, but instead something else. She then realized what was going on. It was a trap, and MURDER.....!! She started to yell as Shruikan took the opportunity to attack. She was caught off guard by the attack and Shruikan was able to get a piece of her wing before another dragon deep violet in color dove out of the sky and attacked Shruikan ripping him from his grasp on Silvera, but in the process severely broke Silvera's wing in the process. She let out an enormous roar of pain as she fell her flight arm snap in four places, and started to feel the wing itself get torn off. The only thing holding the wing to the body was a single ligament in the connection join. Blood poured profusely from her wounds in her wing for her membrane had also been almost completely destroyed, as well as on the side of her neck where one of Shruikan's talons pierced through her scales as the new dragon tore him off of her. She started coughing up blood as she told Zil faintly, Zil..., help... me... cough... please Zil'caron quickly rushed over to Silvera's side and immediately began working magic on her, repairing her neck wound first. For it would be the one that proved fatal by restricting her breathing. He heard Silvera ask him for help and he told her, I'm already here, hang on, hang on. I'm working as fast and effeicient as I can, but you can't die on me, you just can't I can't raise our eggs on my own, and I can't bear to get another mate if I lose you. I will save you, or I will die trying. He told her with a love so undeniable, so pure, so loyal, that at that moment in time, nothing else even mattered to him. He could care less about Shruikan, He'd have his chance to deal with him once Silvera was healed. He didn't even know until a few seconds ago that there was another dragon in the area. It took him about three minutes to completely heal her neck injury for it was so deep. she was fortunate though. Shruikan missed her artery in her neck. It was a good think otherwise with amount of blood she was losing already she would have already been lost. The next thing he did was heal the flight arm. It's a lot easy to reattach a wing while it is intact instead of broken in many places. Using his magic he could feel the flaws and the fractures in the bone as he started to piece and seal them back together reconnecting the nerves and the blood vessels to make sure that the wing remain healthy once it had been reattached to Silvera body. He checked on Silvera frequently to make she she was still alert for if she lost consciousness, it could be over. He finally got the wing healed, and he began to work on reattaching it to her body. The first thing that he did was place the flight arm back into the joint, which caused Silvera almost as much pain as it did when it snapped out. He had mixed feelings about the effect. He was really sorry for making her hurt in pain, but he was relieved to see that she was still having pain because it meant that she was still conscious. Then after he put the bone back into place he started to repair the muscles and the ligaments that were torn from the accident. Well it wasn't an accident. Shruikan would have done far more damage to her had he gotten the chance to do so and Zil'caron however much he hated doing so, knew that what ever was in the eggs would cause harm to the clan. So he had no choice but to destroy the eggs. He waled over to the eggs which were now started to rock back and forth. He gathered as much dignity as he could for the situation as he crushed the eggs one at a time, killing what ever was inside of it. _________________ Spyro: "Cynder, you're a genius!" Faefnir yelled as Shruikan engaged in the attack. He was obviously happy to see his mate appear and take Shruikan off of Silvera before he could do any serious harm. Then he launched himself into the sky and joined Star in their aerial battle. He grabbed her hand and nodded. Together, my mate. Phal launched herself into the air as a fight began raging below. Silvera roared in pain and Phal turned. Shruikan was thrown of the female and he himself got into the sky, faced by Star Gazer and Faefnir. Shruikan suddenly looked towards Phal, who realized her close proximity to the battle almost too late. Shruikan dodged away from Faefnir and Star Gazer, choosing instead to try and attack the small silver dragon. Blast this sunlight! It makes my scales shine! If only it were cloudy! Phal thought as she darted away and attempted to escape upwards. She could here the gold and purple dragons' furious roars as Shruikan blasted fire at her. I've got a duty to protect the hatchlings and the other dragons. You go after him and if he comes near them I will attack." Star Gazer said then slammed Shruikan in the side, knocking him away from the hatchling and into the far away sky but not before he had a black burn across his face, blistering one of his eyes shut. Star Gazer pushed the hatchling to the ground and stood guard over the dragons and roared angrily at Shruikan.

Zil'caron said to Shruikan as he attacked the Silver hatchling. You will not kill another hatchling of this clan, and what you started to do to Silvera is unforgivable, I trusted you! He yelled as he took off to engage Shruikan. You foolish dragons, I had been planning this all along, and I have already notified Galbatorix of your present location and condition, and Him, Murtagh, Thorn and an army 1000 strong are already heading this way. Shruikan Sneered as he got hit with a blast of fire in the face from Star. Zil'caron let out an enormous roar, and had flames seething, and flickering out of his nostrils and the side of his maw. He then told Star Gazer, Faefnir, and Phalynx, to where only they could hear, Get, out, of, the, way, please. I don't want to hurt you. As soon as he said that he began charging a spell that would rid the land of Shruikan once and for all. Lodo iacina, naru icen lodo liricora, Nu necria erac ti esive doresta lodokiva! he said completely in Drac. Out of his giant maw came a long thick bolt of black lightning, and it was a direct his on Shruikan. Once the bold of lightning his Shruikan, it formed a black orb around him that once it had completely engulfed Shruikan turned a bright orange. Liarica He said as the Orange orb folded around Shruikan trapping forever inside of it. We don't have to worry about him anymore. That are of magic was called a slipstream. And he was just dropped in one. Unless someone managed to Slipstream him before mine was complete, we won't be sing him again. he told everyone. Good riddance. Silvera said looking at their three eggs and noticed that the sapphire one with white veins has started rocking slightly. Her emotions quickly changed from horrifically scared to unimaginably happy. She quickly called to the two dragons and Zil, Zil! Faefnir! Star! I need you over here now! One of my eggs is hatching! Zil'caron heard her immediately, and nearly snapped one of his wings he had turned around so fast. It was only a few seconds before he was able to land next to Silvera and see his daughter's egg rocking back and forth. He then looked back to his mate, and licked her as he said, This is wonderful as he wrapped his head around her, and he saw the egg start to crack. It wouldn't be long, and the hatchling would be free from it's shell. OOC: Note, that Shruikan is NOT dead, but is giving us the illusion that he is dead, For I'm planning on Galbatorix saving him before Zil dropped his SS (slipstream) _________________ Spyro: "Cynder, you're a genius!" He had heard a terrible noise from this direction and curiously went to investigate. His Rider, Aviva, was wandering in the forests shadowy heart somewhere. He quickly told her what he was doing with a flick of thought. Silently, he crawled forward, his tail tip twitching. Being small and coal-black hiding was no difficulty. He scanned a surrounding of dragons and one black dragon seemed to be caught in an orb. Shruikan! Brujole thought with distaste. Oh how I crave to sink my teeth into your hide. He snorted, realising how alike in appearance they both were except Brujole had a terrible scar over his right eye that blinded him. He shoke off the thought and switched his gaze to some of the crowding dragons. What are they doing? He then noticed that a blue egg was hatching at their feet. He snaked his head and snorted a jet of grey fire into the air is disbelief. _________________

Though, she knew it was probably necessary. She saw the others get rid of Shruikan, and they suddenly crowded around something. Phal peered in with infrared vision and saw that one of Zil'caron's eggs was hatching. Phal immediately grew interested. She hadn't really met many others around her age, and was excited by the prospect of another new dragon. Suddenly, she noticed movement. The other dragon was nearly invisible in the shadows, but not for Phal's infrared seeing abilities. Everyone! Someone's here! She shouted to the others, rushing forward to get their attention. He flared his nostrils and pondered on whether or not he should show himself. After he weighed out the odds, he very slowly crept out into the clearing, the waterfall of sunlight bathing him and outlining the scars that checkered his ribcage, left wing and especially the gruesome one over his eye. He seemed as if he had been involved in many huge massacres; a sad and grave sight for one so young. He blinked at the dragons through both his eyes, his good one that he could see through, and his blind, scarred and blotchy one. Brujole lowered his head close to the ground and snarled in a defensive postion, worried that he had placed himself in danger. _________________

Zil'caron watched As the Blue and silver egg kept rocking back and forth in front of him when he heard Phal in the distance tell him that there was someone else in the area. He noticed in the distance a heavily scarred red dragon. It had numerous scars on his ribs and one very bad one on his eye that appeared to have blinded him in the one eye. The Dragon took a defensive stance, and Zil'caron told the dragon, Easy, Easy, we don't wish to harm you. If you want, I can look at your one eye. I may be able to restore vision in it for I am very efficient at magic. If you wish me to, I may be able to heal it. That way your vision is not restricted young one. But we will not harm you, if you do not harm us. He told the young dragon. _________________ Spyro: "Cynder, you're a genius!" Cynder: "I have my moments."

I'll post in black if its confusing.You should remind the RPG crew of the hatchlings if they're not approving. IC Brujole eyed the both the older dragon and the hatching egg under his piercing gaze. He creased his long, narrow snout and flared his horse-like nostrils with a snort so that powdery clouds of black smoke seeped out into the fresh air. He then snaked his head upwards and exhibited his long, white fangs with his tail risen slightly, ready to lash out if needed. He then said in his gravelly tone, Share with me your reasons, why I should give such a stranger the grasp of my own, fragile life? How can I depend on you... ? _________________

" Young black one-it seems like a popular place for black dragons to accumulate don't you think Faefnir?-I wouldn't advise using that tone here. Some of us aren't up to dealing with smart-alec young dragons who think they can take on the world." Star Gazer said smilling to lessen what she had said, not really meaning it as rude just a fact.
