In Eldest, Eragon travels to see his new mentor, Oromis, a powerful dragon rider whose existence was a secret. ((Eragon studies with Oromis for a while, but before his training is complete he runs away to help his friends.)) The Rebels are being chased by the Empire, and are forced to relocate in Surda. ((Meanwhile, Eragon’s sibling’s beloved Katrina is captured by the Empire, and he will aid in her rescue at the beginning of the next installment.)) The Empire and the Rebels have a showdown, where it is revealed that Murtagh is Eragon’s brother, and their father was the Emperor’s old right hand man, Morzan. ((In the process, Eragon loses his sword.))

But it has only been around 1 years since Angela for told his fate. And I don't think that the war will last for another 4-5 years meaning that Eragon wont die in the war.

I've not got Eragons Guide To Alagaisea so I'm not sure if Eragons meant to live or not, so I think it'll be quite cool if Eragon and Galby both die - like King Auther and Mordred.

You see the people of Alagaesia ar ruled by Galby? Well if the Varden attack they could accidentally kill the civilians... and they could blame Eragon. Just like what happened in Cravahall.

The problem with that idea Imp is that it is the winners who writes down the story. When the free races wins it will be them who rules and tell every one else how it was.

We know Eragon promised Saphira to go and find dragons - so they'll probably do that.

That doesn't explain why he'd leave for forever, though. I think the Menoa Tree will ask him to leave forever with Saphira, since she's the last female dragon. Fire burns, fire must be extinguished or something along those lines is what she said.

I doubt it. His destiny to leave Alagaesia probably coincides with his vision of the ship, people, and two dragons flying overhead. Him deciding to be a traveller doesn't explain why he would just forget Alagaesia altogether and leave it on it's own.

Maybe, but again, the problem with the Riders - pre-Galbatorix's reign - was that they weren't involved enough in Alagaesia's affairs. If Eragon repeats that mistake, then what's the point of the series? Have Eragon beat Galbatorix only to perfectly set things up for another person to take over Alagaesia? This time with no opposition?

Your ideas are interesting, but they also have one mutual problem: it would contradict everything they've been fighting for.

No, definitely not. First of all, an immortal ruler shouldn't rule over a mortal race. Secondly, there's a difference between overseeing the growth, stabilization, and inner working of a country and protecting it from what Riders classify as 'evil'. The latter is what the Riders are responsible for. The former is the responsibility of the King of Alagaesia. The Riders and the Rulers of Alagaesian are a separate entity altogether, but they should be equivalent in terms of political power.

For me it is all about Saphira and the dragons. I really don't see any other good explanation. Well.. besides if the Menoa Tree would have something to do with it. He is bound by the AL to give her what she ask from him.

Well eragon and saphira leaving to find dragons leaving could be considered as a good thing because I can't see why it would be a bad thing. However, I don't think there are any more dragons except maybe...on the other side of the mountains where the map is cut off. I mean, why isn't that ever shown? If there is nothing there then CP could just have made a complete map where the continent ends at those mountains. But it doesn't, so I think it's a possibility.

What I would like to see is Eragon and Saphira leaving because Galby seizes power again ( that's if he didn't die) and the Elves has to leave as well.

That would be very welcome. At least it wouldn't end the same as almost every fantasy novel in existence.

That is not true. Arya is a princess, but she is not required to become queen. Especially when she don't want to.

Oh, okay then - I think Eragon'll leave with his elf friends to elf land. But as I've said earlier, I would like Galby to seize power again, and that is why they leave, because Galby is actually unstoppable.

He has been portrayed as unstoppable so far hasn't he. Which is why it would be weird to have Galby defeated.
However, it's not a CPish thing to do, so most likely Galby will be defeated and Eragon will leave for different reasons.

Exactly. Fantasy wouldn't really be fantasy if the good guys didn't win. Eragon and co. will defeat Galby and will live happily ever after. And I for one won't be able to find fault with that. However, I assume there will be an element of sadness if Eragon and Saphira are forced to leave Alagaisia against their will.

I believe the problem with rating sites is either that the critics are just plain weird and like weird movies, or that they are overqualified. I think the second one is more likely. They know way too much about movies and books to like ones that most viewers of the film/ book will absolutely love. But as this is completely off topic...

I'm not saying that Galby being defeated will be bad, I just think that the way it looks at the moment, the only way it can be done will completely go against the whole "galby is unstoppable" thing. Either Eragon will be completely overpowered, or will actually be able to outsmart someone who has been living for 100 years and who has taken over the world, or someone will cause a distraction for Eragon, giving him the chance to kill Galby, but getting killed by him in the process. But as this is off topic as well...

The way Eragon leaves depends on if/ how Galbatorix dies. For example, if he doesn't die, then they will probably have to flee Alagaisia. If he does die, something like the menoa tree forcing saphira to leave, or the death of someone close to eragon (like arya) will drive eragon away.

We all know the Varden'll win but I would just like to see the good side lose for once.

Well Eragon could die. He could use up all his strength to kill Galby. But that would only work if there was some elaborate afterlife where he can be with all his loved ones...

It would be kind of weird if CP didn't make Angela's predictions come true though. After all, he did spend a lot of time stressing that everything she said would happen. I think it's much more likely that some weird interpretation will cause what she said to happen.
At the moment it looks like the only way he will leave is if someone like Arya or Saphira dies. After all, a tree forcing them to leave would be anti-climactic.

That sounds just about right. But in seriousness, looking back at the books there have only been one or two major deaths (for the good guys) in each of them.

Eragon - Brom
Eldest - Ajihad and Hrothgar
Brisingr - Oromis and Glaedr

So really, I can only see maybe one good guy dying in Inheritance (maybe two if we're lucky). This of course doesn't really include Murtagh as he is a 'bad guy' at the moment. In light of this, I think Islanzadi and one person close to eragon (including that dwarf guy) will be dying. No more than that though unless CP goes 'out there'.

It would be amazing to see Angela's predictions to be not true! Then Eragon wouldn't have to leave - instead he dies.
