Iaras
My first really evil boy. Name: Iaras (Eye-uh-ross)
Age: 200
Gender: Male
Skills: Screech; This ability is common among Gryphons. The screech is very much similar to a high-pitched shriek, but shriller and more piercing to the ears. It can stun/deafen any twoleg nearby, though it is a bit more dramatic with dragons, or anything else with sensitive hearing. For a dragon, it first sends a sharp pain through the skull, commonly incapacitating because of how sudden and piercing it is. In some cases it can even drive a dragon unconscious, but this only happens if the screech is continuous. Iaras can only keep it going for a few seconds, a full minute if he pushes. Being a natural defense/offense weapon, it takes little energy.
Race: Gryphon Princeling
Hair: Look at Physical Description.
Eyes: Look at Physical Description.
Home Village: A large city called Zaflen on a rather small country named Tenya.
Parents: Seenia (mother) Fkan (father). Father is dead, killed by Iaras. Mother escaped and he now hunts her.
Siblings: None known, but Iaras suspects that his mother was pregnant when she fled.
Character Personality: Iaras is cold and ruthless to get what he wants. He will manipulate whoever he must to accomplish his ends, even close friends (if he had any), or his family. His father was weak in his eyes. Fkan could have done so much more with his power. As King, his father could have challenged the Ruler of Tenya, High King Tylon. But Fkan wasted his opportunity. Iaras was disgusted with it, so when he was strong enough, and also by then much stronger than his father, he killed him, therefore inheriting the title of King for Zaflen. The only thing that threatens his current position is his mother and any possible brood that she raises. His plans are to challenge High King Tylon when he returns to Tenya. To lead the country into a new era of power. He believes he's doing Tenya a great service by becoming Ruler. He has no other aspiring dreams in domination. He wouldn't object if he could Rule the whole world, of course, but he will not fight over it. Unlike other evil entities, Iaras is not one to want more than he can have. It would be unlikely for him to being a World Domination with the size of his forces. With some work, possibly, and patience, it could be done. But for now he is settled on where he is. His only goal, now, is to find, and kill, his mother, and any younglings, if any, that she has birthed. The ruthless, he is not heartless. He'd sooner kill than admit this, but he does actually care. Though it's only for one being, and one alone. With their Bond, Teak and Iaras share desires, thoughts, intentions, and emotions. He is closer to his Tamen than anyone, and if he had the will to do such a thing, he would kill Teak, because being tied to someone other than himself sickens him (and also weakens him, in his opinion), but to destroy Teak would destroy him as well. When a Tamen chooses you as its owner, the Bond is permanent and unbreakable, save by death of both parties.
Character History: Iaras was cruel at birth, nearly killing his mother during labor. Being of a forgiving nature, she gave it no thought, and of course lavished him with love and adoration. He used these emotions to help him manipulate her into doing his bidding. She was blinded by her love for him, so never gave it a second moments thought. His father, however, did see. But, being the King of Zaflen, Fkan couldn't kill his own son without it looking like murder to protect the throne. Iaras knew this, and taunted his father continuously for it. All the while, the young gryphon's thirst for blood and violence grew until he finally made his first kill. It was of another young gryphon, a female. She had been chattering to him while walking with him to their nests - they lived right next door to each other - and his annoyance and hatred of her incessant talking had won over. With a savage slash of his razor sharp foretalons, he'd killing her with a single wound to the throat. At first he was horrified at himself, but it felt so incredibly good. He felt so powerful, so invincible. She hadn't had a prayer of fighting him off, even if she'd had the chance. Being a natural predator, Iaras was lured to the steaming corpse, eyes alight with blood-lust. He wasn't even controlling his own limbs as he bent down to her throat and drank of the warm blood that spilled across the ground. When he raised his head, his beak was blood stained, and he vowed that he would drink the delicious blood again. Just a few months later, Iaras found Teak at the Tamen Breeding Grounds. Despite himself, he grew to love the golden-furred Tamen, and ended up purchasing him. What's more, he Bonded with Teak, a rare occasion in the best of situations. Iaras plotted and prepared for the time that he would take over the throne from his father. Every time he killed and drank of his victim's blood, he appeared to grow just a bit stronger, and so every chance he got he would kill one of his schoolmates or servants and drink their blood, or would gash one of his personal servants and drink from the wound without killing them. It took him a long time, but he was patient. Finally, at almost two centuries old, he was strong enough. He invited Fkan for an afternoon swim in the lake outside the city. At first the older gryphon was wary, but his assumption that his bigger bulk and better training would keep his son off him made him ignorant. He was wrong. Iaras jumped his father when he was entering the lake, landing on his back and buckling his legs. With a cruel slash at the throat, and a few minutes with his head held underwater, Fkan was dead. He went back and told his mother, in tears, of course, that the Gryphon King had slipped and cut his throat on a sharp stone, fallen into the lake, and drowned. His transition from mere Prince to King was so smooth and had an air of expectancy in it. After becoming King, he attempted to kill his mother as well. In his eyes as he pounced toward her was blood-lust and a hunger for the taste of her blood. It was so powerful and jolting, that Seenia finally saw the truth, and ran. She escaped. Now King, Iaras could have had her followed by one of his servants. But they were not as strong as him. So he took two of his closest servants, Verdun, a midnight brown male gryphon, and Sevena, a salt-and-pepper female that had had a crush on him since they were younglings, and Teak on his quest to hunt his mother. The young ones that Iaras suspects her of carrying are a danger to him. If they grow up and return, they, by Gryphon Law, can fight him in single combat. If they were to win, it would be in their rights to banish him from Tenya forever on pain of dead if he ever returned. He followed Seenia to a land called Alagaësia. He's curious of the land and its inhabitants, especially the dragons. He's set up a small base at the western entrance of the mountains called the Beor's and has collected a few more 'followers' from his exploring. He thirsts for Seenia's blood, and this makes him ever more determined to find her.
Weapons: Talons/claws, beak, screech
Likes: Blood, treachery (as long as it isn't against him), killing, the screams of his victims.
Dislikes: Open, clear, blue sky (Tenya is surrounded with mountains with few paths out, and usually overcast with clouds), happiness, joy (pretty much any positive emotion), small spaces (being such a big creature, he is actually very claustrophobic).
Fear: His worst fear is of losing control of anything he's gained.
Weakness: High-pitched sounds, such as a shriek/screech or wail. Like any other hearing sensitive creature, it hurts his head to the point of blacking out, of which he then has no choice but to trust Teak to protect him. One reason why he doesn't use his own Screech very often.
Animal Companions: In Tenya there are human like beings called Tamen. They are somewhat between the stature of a dwarf and a human. Most of them never crest four or five feet tall. They are rather intelligent, though not so much as a normal twoleg. They can be kept by a Gryphon as a pet, which is more common, or used as a laborer for work and any errands the gryphon owner may have, or, on the very rare occasion, a Gryphon might Bond with Tamen, becoming more one entity than two. There are no enslaved Tamen, nor are there any Gryphon Masters. Most are happily obedient, willing to serve in any way they can to please their owner. Their skin is lightly furred, a bit like the coat of a zebra or horse, though just a tad thicker, and usually colored a dark brown or tan; the rare colors, such as grey, black, white, silver, and gold/tawny brown are more commonly owned by royal Gryphons. A Tamen's eyes are slitted, like a snakes, and range from blue, red, yellow, green, and, on rare occasions, violet. Their hair is much like the mane of a wolf, thick and soft as silk. Iaras's Tamen is named Teak, for his glossy tawny brown/gold pelt and mane, and has piercing emerald eyes.
Character's Physical Description: Iaras; Iaras is big, even for a Gryphon. Most of his kind max out at 9 or 10 feet tall at the shoulder. He is closer to 13 feet at the withers. His wingspan is at least twenty-five feet across, to carry his weight as well as Teak's. His head, chest, upper torso, and forelegs are in the form of an eagle, while his lower torso, haunches, hindlegs, and tail are in the shape of a lion. His feathers are a deep burnished gold and a bit of a gentler tan color on his sternum, front, stomach, and throat. It helps him blend in the dark as a stalker of the night, but makes him stick out like a sore thumb during light hours. His hindquarters are a burnished gold as well, but instead of feathers it is of a soft, smooth fur. His foretalons are sharpened to fatal proportions; they could cut a hanging thread perfectly with one swipe. His hindclaws are a bit less deadly, though still sharp enough to deal a a good amount of damage. Set on his back is an elegant saddle specifically made for Teak. The Tamen wears a harness that clips to the saddle in three different places and ties his feet into the stirrups.. Teak; Teak is averagely tall for a Tamen, at 4 feet 11 inches. His fur/coat and mane are a warm golden tone, matching Iaras's color almost perfectly. His emerald eyes are warm, cold, and calculating at the same time. They are much like a cat, with slits for pupils that have the air of cunning. He had three fingers on each hand, and a sharp two inch claw that replaces nails. He walks much like a werewolf, on the balls of his feet, and has four sharply clawed toes on each. While he is not more intelligent than the average Tamen, he is fiercely protective and loyal to Iaras, especially due to their Bond.
Dreams for the Future: Kill his mother and whatever runts she may have spawned, then return to Tenya and continue to control his Empire.
Reason for Dreams: If she is pregnant, or simply continues to live, she or any runts she births can return to Tenya and take his title from him in the form of a hand-to-hand dual. It's his Empire; he trusts no one in running it, except perhaps Teak and his right-hand gryphon, Fylen.
Alignment/Side: His own.
Side Note: Iaras is not a vampire gryphon, he just likes the taste of blood and it gives him more strength than just straight meat/water. It also is not any blood that strengthens him; it must be gryphon blood, otherwise it will not affect him at all.
