fathskie wanted to try some multi-cultural stuff lol
oohh... Yorkshire pudding! yum! Always good with bangers and mash lol I sound like such a moron...
Ingredients
8 oz. flour
2 eggs
1 pint milk
Pinch of salt
Instructions (I had to find this on the internet lol)
Sieve the flour and salt into a bowl. Make a dip in the centre and break the eggs into it; add a little of the milk and mix it in well. When half the milk is in, beat well for 10 minutes, then add the rest of the milk, still beating. The batter should stand for at least 1 hour before it is used. add about a tablespoonful of cold water at the last minute for a really light pudding. Get a little fat really hot before pouring in the batter, then bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes, raising the heat just enough to brown it at the end.
Luvly

I am reviving this topic since no one else has do so yet.
I will start it off by saying this: I like food. I really do. I like it so much I would eat it if I could.

No, I really mean it. Have you ever heard the saying "I like such and such so much I could just eat it!" That's like the relationship between myself and food: I like food so much I could just eat it. As for recipes, I'll have to find some.

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
I have this little black book filled to the point of ripping with recipes handed down from ages and ages ago (good pumpkin pie one in there ) and of 5 cousins (me being the only guy) I get the book... well I'm off to the kitchen to whip up breakfast and maybe a pie or two
I would shout "food" as loud as I can but you would never hear me and then my dogs would be really upset cause I woke them up and then I'd get nothing done...

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
Here's a recipe for an Indian dish called samosas. They can be really spicy, but they're extremely good. Well, I didn't feel like finding out how to make them, so I just got it from some website. Enjoy! Quote: Go to any Indian restaurant and you will find this one on their menu. This well loved and most popular snack is very easy to make. Enjoy this anytime. Makes a great after school snack and great appetizer. Served in many movie theatres in India during the "intermission" in the concession stands.
For the Pastry:
1 1/2 cups all purpose Flour 1/4th cup oil 1/8th cup water Salt 1 teaspoon Red Chili powder 1/4 th teaspoon
For the filling:
4 medium Potatoes, boiled and mashed coarsely 1/2 cup green Peas, cooked 1/2 tsp Garam Masala 1/4 tsp Pepper Salt to taste or 1 teaspoon 1/4 tsp Red chili powder 1 tsp Dry Mango Powder or Amchur 1/2 tsp Cumin powder 3 Tablespoons Oil 1/2 Cumin seeds A pinch of Asafoetida 1 finely chopped Green Chili 1 teaspoon lemon juice Oil for frying
First make the filling. Heat oil and season it with cumin seeds, Asafoetida or "Hing" and finely chopped green chilies. Then add the mashed potatoes and the peas.
Now put in all the masalas like the garam maslala, pepper, red chili powder, dry mango powder and cumin powder. Mix well and let it cook for 5-6 minutes covered. Add the lemon juice and mix well. Then remove and keep aside. Let it cool.
Now make the pastry. Mix the flour, water, oil, salt and red chili powder to make a stiff dough. Keep aside.
To put the Samosa together:
Cut the pasrty dough into 4 equal parts. Take a piece of one of the 4 parts the pastry dough. Roll it out into a round about 6 to 8 inches in diameter.
Cut it in two parts (like semi-circle). Moisten the straight edge with a finger dipped in water. then take one semi circle and fold it in a shape of cone .
Stuff about a tablespoon of the potatoes-peas mixture in that cone and seal the top edge with a drop of water on your finger and press the edges together. Make all the Samosas this way. Keep both the samosa and dough covered with a towel.
Heat oil and deep fry the Samosas. Fry 4 to 5 at a time for about 2 to 3 minutes turning once after 1 minute or Fry the samosa to a rich golden brown.
Makes 8 samosas.

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
Anyone here a garlic lover? I am. Here's a simple recipe to do for appetizers.
1 pack of cream cheese 2 cloves of garlic
1 loaf of bread sliced across (instead of sliced as if for toast) This can be requested at any place where bread is baked. Just order it to be sliced as indicated.
Allow the cream cheese to soften. In a mortar, mince the two garlic cloves. Place the cream cheese in a bowl and stir with a wisk. Once the cream cheese is softened add the minced garlic a mix again.
Spread the mixture on the bread, then roll the bread which will take the shape of a cylinder. Repeat until you have used all the mixture.
Tale a small bowl and pour about 1 1/2 ounce of milk. Place a paper towel in it allowing it to soak up the milk. Do not wring the milk soaked paper towel completely. Now wrap the rolls in the soaked paper towels. Place all the rolls in the freezer for 30 mins. Unwrap the rolls and cut off the thick crust. Slice each roll in about 1/2 inch circles.
Enjoy!!!!!

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
my uber ramen recipe(well, its not a recipe at all, more like a style of making it)(yes i know im an idiot xD) okay, well,if youve ever had ramen (the packaged noodle stuff),you might notice that the way you/your family probly makes it isnt very flavorful on the noodles...well,ive got a solution to that, and it makes ramen incredibly delicious also note, its kinda salty, cuz of the flavor and whatnot...anyways,onto the cookin! What youre going to need:a medium sized pot 1-2 packs of the flavor of ramen of your choice(2 for more hungry ppl xD) Water A fork Directions: put your water into your pot, filling it about 3/4's of the way(i like to use hot tap water,it boils faster) set your stove top to HIGH or the highest setting, and set your pot on there un wrap your ramen packs and wait for the water to boil after it boils, take the fork, and put the ramen in the pot,and keep it submerged with the fork stir it,untill all the noodles loosen and become free of the block shape now for the different part take your cooked ramen after its cooked for about 2-3 minutes, and go to your sink now pour MOST of the water out,not all of it,but enough so that the noodles wont be dry after you put in your flavoring, but they wont have excess water so,add both your packs of flavoring, and add water if needed up til the noodles are wet,but not so much as theres a puddle of....idk...juice? at the bottom of your pot...oh and you can put it in a bowl if ud like,i jsut use the pot xDDD that was probly un-needed,but,hey,its delicious xDDD

LOL, No I haven't, but I absolutely love garlic, and for the aftertaste, (or garlicky breath), just chew some fresh parsley leaves. That will do the trick.
At another time I'll give you guys the chicken salad I make out of store bought (rotisserie Chicken) or any chicken left over. Yummy!

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
Oh my gosh. My friend made a pizza the other day, it was the MOST delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life. Half the stuff I didnt even like!!!
He took a frozen 4 cheese pizza and piled it with artichoke hearts, canned green chilies, fresh mushrooms, bell peppers, black olives, canadian bacon, pepperoni, and more cheese on top. Once slice was like a meal it was soooooooo tastey.
and total easy recipe for fudge.
3 cups of chocolate chips + a can of sweetened condensed milk. Melt the chips in a pot then slowly add the milk. Put in a greased pan and place in the fridge. Eat when chocolate cravings occur. Yum.

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
Wow that sounds so nice. I just remembered I have the best recipe ever for Cornish pasties (yay finally something local which I have a recipe for lol) upstairs, I'll go and get it...
(I improvised a lot from the original recipe lol)
Cornish Pasties
Ingredients for the Shortcrust Pastry: 200g (8oz) plain flour 100g (4oz) block margarine pinch of salt
Ingredients for the filling: half a small onion slices of ham slices of cooked bacon 200g (8oz) cheese tomato puree
(I spilled water on the paper when I was making them years ago and now I can't read exactly how many slices of ham and bacon you need lol, oops)
Method: 1. Light oven to Gas 6 (200°C) 2. Wash, peel and dice the vegetables (in this case... the onion lol, you can use other stuff). Saute in margarine and add the meat. 3. Dissolve a stock cube in 125ml of boiling water. Add it to the meat and vegetables. Simmer until partly cooked. Allow to cool. 4. Make the shortcrust pastry by the rubbing-in method. Divide it into 4 or 6 rounds using a saucer as a guide. 5. Put a bit of filling onto each circle of pastry, damp the edges and fold it in half pressing together. Squish a fork lightly round the edge to make pretty little marks lol. 6. Make a little hole to let the steam escape. 7. Brush with glaze (optional- raw egg works well as glaze). 8. Bake for 20 minutes in the pre-set oven, then turn down to Gas 4 (180°C) for 15 or 20 minutes.
Can be eaten hot or cold. Yum.

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
sounds complicated to me. but then again I don't really cook. I'm more of an eater. although if I did make it I'd substitute the bacon/ham with something else
okay here's an easy recipe for homemade pizza:
all you have to do is get some pita bread, spread tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce or something all over it, sprinkle some cheese on, and then add whatever toppings you want. like....idk...peppers. lol. and then just bake it for....some amount of time. and then....eat it...
lmao i am the worst recipe poster ever.

Re: Food and Cuisine ^^
I used do that for my girls, only I used English Muffins instead of the pita or tortillas. I used to do them with bagels too!
This is the chicken salad I make when I buy ready made rotisserie chicken, and I have left overs. It takes some time but it's well worth it. There's no cooking involved and it's a great great way to use chicken leftovers.
Rotisserie Chicken Salad Ingredients: Rotisserie chicken or left over of the same (Do not discard the juices which come with it, you'll need it.) 3 sprigs of green onions (cut widthwise in small thin rings) 1 shredded carrot 1 teaspoon of fresh minced garlic 3/4 cup of mayonnaise salt & pepper to taste
Split chicken in half and slice off chicken. Remove all the meat from the bones. Cut slices in small squares (more or less) and place in a deep bowl. Pour the juice which is released when the chicken is bought. Once all the meat has been shredded or minced and salt & pepper to taste. Mix in about 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and start "mashing" or kind of shredding the meat with a fork. (This is what takes the most time, besides cutting the meat) Add another tablespoon of mayonnaise to the meat Mix in the fresh garlic and the rest of the mayonnaise and mix Continue to mince the mixture, then add the carrots
The mixture will be now somewhat pasty
Serve as a sandwich, I use small Hawaiian Sweet Bread or Kaiser Rolls Enjoy!!!!!!! (I hope I didn't forget anything )
