Post christmas time
so it's near christmas time 'n' i have a few questions.
first of all who here likes christmas raise your hand .i dont' . i think it's depressing.
how about christmas trees. those are depressing too!
and how about a christmas carol by charles dickens? you know ......that story with scrooge and the nephew and the 3 spirits that come to him ( spirit of christmas past present and future) well we're reading that in school because it's from the victorian era.has anyone ever read that?
the gifts...eh? who needs gifts. alotta teens are like : i need the newest technology, cellphone, iphone, laptop computre, ipod. i ask,why to teens need those things. all i want for christmas is brisingr and the hobbit . ( i got em both ...for a fact i know!)

Basically. If you take out the snow, completely.

I like trees and the Christmas Carol. Good story in my mind, and apt...

Hmm, I don't want any things for Christmas...

Post Re: christmas time is so depressing
If I have learned one thing is that Christmas is far from depressing. Sure there can be things that you do not like: tree, snow, temperature, lights, music, family, etc... but there is something so much more important. I for one would always complain when my mother would start playing the Christmas music at least 2 months before the actual event. Now she is no longer that much around and so we don't hear them playing and to tell you the truth this is what is the most depressing.

Christmas is not only about the presents, it is so far from that. Personally I don't think people should get them if they have this attitude and neglect all the other parts that make this season. It is all about giving and receiving, you may be receiving, but you should return at least a love for everything that makes it possible. This time of year brings you closer to friend and family and to tell you the truth those are the most important.

Living abroad for the past 9 years you grow to understand the actual importance of it. Asking some of the other family members to come over would have just have been selfish since you are just a part of this bigger family. You may live with them the complete year, 365 days a year. You may think that is too much, but it's only when you don't have them for a very long time that you understand there true importance. During this time of year it is not a curse to be with them  , but a moment where you can try to get closer. And if the family is unavailable you're friends will kind of become your family.

Most of stories and song that are said, song or watch maybe kind of old, but they still help to place the required spirit. They bring people together and in that they are successful. Anyway it's always interesting to hear or watch something that you only see once a year, because you will probably not be watching it one summer evening.

Gifts in the form of physical goods are not required to make this holiday special. You only need a bit of imagination and love. People that only see it for the material gifts have obviously lost touched with the traditions origins and have falling pray to the big companies who only want to increase there pile of cash in there coffer, Scrooge anyone?

I couldn't agree more.

I've realized the same thing, living away from my best friends and immediate family around 2/3 of the year. We also moved away from most of the family several years ago, and we don't get to see them much anymore. Just puts what's important into perspective I think. No thing is important, only the people you love are.

i know what you mean....i left england 4 years ago...then nan died of cancer...then grandma got cancer....it made it difficult but it makes you realise how important family is but we still live in australia and noone will travel over here and we have 5 in our family so it makes it hard to see them at all.

Christmas is sort of depressing for me because like you arya, my Grandad died on Christmas eve, but we still have fun and enjoy being with each other, and I think it's really an important time of year- even if you don't celebrate Christmas, there's bound to be some times when your family gets together, and that's important. Plus I like presents

Lol, who doesn't? Even though I don't celebrate Christmas, I still like this time of year because it's nice to see everyone in a good mood with their families and all. The holiday season is always relaxing and just a good time in general. Actually... it's weird...my dad wants to get a Christmas tree this year for some reason.

Christmas is depressing for me because of my own reasons with family and blah.

What a good Christmas would be ... is a Christmas somewhere other than here.

What about daffodil tea? That reminds me of a song, come on kids ...

Daffodil tea for dainty little me

It'll make you pee!

I don't remember the words to my own song! How pathetic ...
This is on topic since I drink daffodil tea at Christmas ^.^

Meh I'm kinda looking forward to Cristmas, but I don't know. I like the holiday, but my parents and siblings always have to yell all the time. If something isn't 100% perfect tehy yell and make an argument over it. When we put up the tree and stuff my dad got all mad just because one of the lightbulbs went out...

It feels good when I do it. so chritmas is fun.

I'm so glad Sonic is closed on christmas

I love Christmas time with my nonbiologial family. I dont care if I get presents or not but I do love to give them. Its so much fun to have an excuse to buy things for people I care about. I understand how some people think its depressing, specially for those who put a lot of stock in getting things. In my family, your lucky if you get one present thats just how we work. But the spirit of the season is the best time of year.

Hmm. :? My hometown basically shuts down on Christmas, and the other places I live it gets very quiet, as almost all of the buisnesses are closed or have half days.

Yep. Favorite time of year too.

Christmas is amazing. I love caroling (Yup I can be that geeky, lol). But really I just want snow. ^.^ (which I got some lol). That and something else are my two big christmas wishes. ^.^

My little area gets really quiet at christmas, and everyone is kind and gets along great. Christmas is just a really good time for Houston. Lol.

I don't really even want presents. Sure they're nice, but I prefer a nice, quiet, cold christmas.

Post Re: christmas time
I was born up north, in December and have yet to see snow. This is so sad.

I, personally, love the Christmas season. For my beliefs, to celebrate with family and friends, I like to give gifts, and another thing... like I said above, my birthday is also this month. Though it usually gets celebrated in January.

Anyways, I've always liked this time of year. Even when things are slim, this is the best time of the year to me. :)

We get snow here about once a year, usually in January or February, which is cool. The rest of the time it's just cold and frosty or raining though lol.

Our Xmas is in the summer, in the middle of summer so it basically contradicts all the Xmas carols we have to sing, and it's pretty weird. I'm most likely gonna spend the entire day reading the books I get

I don't really remember the worst present I've got, I'm just happy with whatever really. Oh actually that's a lie, once I asked for a subscription to a Metal magazine, and somebody got me one for one of those girly- makeup- clothes type magazines

When I was younger and everyone was hyped about the second harry potter book coming out, not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE SEPARATE PEOPLE BOUGHT ME IT.
So I had 5 copies of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for Christmas
2nd time was funny. 3rd time was irritating. 4th time was annoying. 5th time was depressing xD
