Legions of the Dead

Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders Dragon: Avadius	Legions of the Dead Alex stared at the villages, all dead, all dead at his hands. he collapsed to the ground, praying for God to forgive him. All of them, murdered and dead. He didn't know what caused him to enter his dark side, but what he remembered was embrassing the darkness and slaughtering them, watching bodies explode around him andrising the dead up to fight the living. "Forgive me," he said to the village and walked away. AT lest he hadn't grown close to anyone, he couldn't bare the thought of murdering people he loved again. The war was over, but to him it seemd it hadn't really begun. Why should he care about the lives of those who enslaved others. Maybe that was why he destroyed the village, becasue they had slaves. Worse than knowing that he murdered them all, was at not why he did. "At least I can continue on." A strangled sob of despair escaped him when he saw a pair of children lying by the front door of a house, their eyes wide open and sightless. Naor, what could have possibly happened here? he asked his partner, digging his fingernails into her saddle as she swooped low over the village. I do not know. This is not the usual destruction you would find from a battle or raid. Everyone is dead, I can't sense a single survivor, the dragonness replied sadly. Her pale blue eyes swept across the ground below, desperately searching for even one survivor of the massacre. She pulled up suddenly, her eyes narrowing as she focused on something in the distance. Asa! There's someone out there! It might be one of the villagers! she cried, directing his eyes with her thoughts. The burly Rider leaned forward in the saddle, scrunching his eyes up as he tried to make the person out. It's no good, I can't see them from here. Let's get over there and see if they need help, he said. The thought had barely formed in his mind before Naor was speeding through the air towards the distant figure. "Hellooooooo!!!!! Wait! We're coming to help!" Asa called, cupping his hands around his mouth and slightly augmenting his voice with magic so the stranger would hear them. He would have touched their mind and spoken to them directly, but he had found that this form of communication disturbed normal humans. _________________ You are most like SAPHIRA Like the majestic dragon, Saphira, you are brave and ferocious in battle but also deep in ancient wisdom. She had been on the road for two days, after having separated from Nirafe and the others. She wasn't minding much until she saw the outskirts of the village. It was carnage. Bodies lay everywhere, blood stained the dirt, and not a single person looked to be left alive. She moved forward in a slight jog, folding her wings up against her back and looking for survivors. She rounded a bend when suddenly saw a swooping shadow and heard a yell. She looked up and saw a magnificent blue dragon with a saddle on it, meaning that it could only be a dragon and it's rider. She looked forward, squinting only to see a lone figure staggering away from the destruction and then understood why the rider was yelling, it must be a villager, they must need help. She immediately broke into a run, almost forgetting that she had wings before they caught the wind. With a powerful push she was in the air and coming up just under the dragon and its rider, "Hello, sorry to come up behind you like this! I'm worried about that villager, just like you, so please don't eat me, or think I'm attacking you!" He turned to see a dragon and its rider and someone else who appeared to be flying directly below the dragon. He froze when the rider spoke. He didn't need help, well he did, but not in the way the man meant. He still stopped to let them land. So many bodies and corpses around, hopefully they didn't know the source. "I'm fine, I don't need help." He said. He almost explained what happened but paused in his words. He shook his head and said, "The attack is long gone." His mouth dropped open in surprise when he saw what appeared to be a human woman with wings flying alongside Naor. She was yelling, saying that she was a friend and didn't want to startle them. "It's alright! They need all the help they can get," he called over to her, looking around to find the villager again. He had stopped and was looking up at them, a look of anguish on his face. Poor guy, who knows what he saw, Asa said sadly. Naor hummed quietly in agreement. The sky blue dragonness dove towards the ground, backflapping when she neared the sand. She landed gently on the dry, sandy ground and walked towards the man as Asa unbuckled his legs from the saddle. Who is responsible for the horrors in that village? she asked him. Her heart twinged with pain as the faces of the murdered children flashed through her mind. They must be brought to justice. Jo went into a dive right behind the dragon, pulling to the side and landing on her feet, skidding for about a foot before stopping. "Are you sure you're alright? The state of this village begs otherwise." She glanced at the man, looking him up and down, noticing the dishevelment of his clothing and the blood that was spattered ever so slightly onto him. "Rest assured that we will help you in any way possible, sir." It was," he paused to think of another lie. Lies, that seemed to be a lot he did not. "a band of urgals. A group of about three hundred charged through the village." He glanced at the there of them and gave a week smile at their attempts to cheer him up. If only he could get them to leave in search of these 'urgals'. Thenb he could be far away before they realized it was a lie. "I'm Alex, a pleasure to meet you." He didn't want to risk saying much further. But it would be nice to travel with company. He glanced around and said, "I'm glad you all came, but I'm afraid there isn't much you can do. Naor... he thought uncertainly. I know what you mean. Though the attack was brutal, there was no sign that this was the work of Urgals, she replied. She watched the man in front of them. He certainly acted as if he had seen something horrific, his eyes had a sort of haunted look to them. We should question him further about what happened here, however, we must not let him know we suspect something. I can't imagine why he would lie about Urgals being the attackers, unless he was the one who killed them all. But how could he have? There were too many villagers. Unless he can use magic? she said, scenting the air around the man. He smelled like death and fear. "As a matter of fact, I do know of another village that might take you in. It's a day away by dragonback though. We should get away from this place and make camp. She realized something, then looked around, he must have noticed that there was no sign of Urgals. This wasn't anything like an Urgal kill, the homes weren't raided, while there was a gruesome amount of carnage there were no beheadings. It didn't add up, and she looked at Alex closely, wondering about his story. He certainly looked like a victim, fear exhuding from his profile. "Asa is right, perhaps we should make a camp. I will gladly tag along to make sure everything is all right." She grinned at him, strengthening her calm on Alex. "I will follow you to wherever you land. He couldn't get involved with this people, but for now it seemed he had no choice. He followed them out of the destroyed village and took one look back. It seemed a certain evil still hung over the village. It may have just been his imagination, but he could almost sense a certain evil coming from within. He dragon rider didn't seem to believer his story and likely so didn't her dragon, Jo he wasn't sure of but hopefully none of them asked questions. He didn't really want anybody else with them until he was sure about whether or not Alex was a threat. Though when he turned to look at her, he was smiling. "The spot I have in mind is about an hour away on foot, less if we walk quickly," he said to the winged woman. Naor, I would ask that you just fly us there, but I don't want him anywhere near you until I know he's safe. Could you fly overhead and keep an eye on him? he asked his partner privately. Naor hummed and bumped his arm with her snout. I don't want to leave you alone with him either, but I will do as you ask. Just be prepared to dodge my flames if he tries to attack you, she said before walking away a few steps. When she felt like she was far enough away to not knock her Rider over with the rush of air from her take-off, she leaped into the air and swept powerfully downward. Within seconds she was circling through the air two-hundred feet above them. The burly Rider watched her for a minute before he looked back down at Jo and Alex. "Sorry, her saddle is only big enough for me. I don't have this spear for nothing, big guy. She grinned at him to show that she was trying to ease him, then said aloud, "Lovely idea, I'll float along next to you! I'm quite excited, it's been a while since I've travelled with a group." She shuffled her pocket, pulling out a tiny little yellow bird, who was fast asleep, "It's just been me and Sundrop here. He's asleep now, but he's usually hyper as can be."
