 i noticed?i have recently read eragon again gertrude said when she was healing him she said thats quite a scar on your palm? maybe thats why it is a scar in the movie???

BUT, if she knew he was a dragon rider she would have known it wasn't a scar.

she's right, she wasn't alive in the DR time, so she would never know what the shining palm was, so she wouldn't know what the mark was, so she assumed it was a scar

To her, the shining palm could have looked like a place on Eragon's hand were an entire layer of skin had been ripped off. Scars aren't always obvious jagged lines. My scar on my forehead is just a layer of skin ripped off.

It may appear to be a scar even though in technicality its really not. In the movie it isn't a scar, its still the gedwey ignasia it just looks like a scar. Think back to the way that Eragon got it. Sounded painful like it may have damaged the skin to me. I always pictured the gedwey ignasia as a more of a scar looking thing anyways.

Some scars are that Pearly white color.
