Skills: Moonlight: As the crescent moon tattoo (credit to the artist, who is not me) on her face suggests, Illuna is at her most powerful at night. If she were to access her full power at night, a silvery-white light would swirl around her body and her tattoo and eyes would start glowing. Whereas her tattoo is normally black, it would turn silver and her maroon eyes glow like coals. At night she becomes a formidable opponent indeed. She can manipulate moonlight as easily as another would fire or water. During the day however, she is markedly weakened. On nights of the new moon she is especially weak, while on the full moon she is at her most powerful. The day of a full moon she feels almost no limitations on her power, and at night she glows whether she is using her power or not.

Swordsmanship: Illuna is very deadly when she uses her sword, but since she doesn't like to fight, she uses it as a last resort. She has trained extensively with her sword ever since she left her home.

Magic: As the daughter of a Shade, it stands to reason that Illuna is a powerful spellcaster, and she is. But instead of using her spells in battle, Illuna uses them for healing. In battle her magical powers are all but useless since she knows no spells that would harm another. She relies on her other abilities and swordsmanship.

Shapeshifting: This takes a fair bit of energy for Illuna to pull off during the day, so she only uses it if she senses that an enemy is nearby. During the night however, it becomes as easy as her other skills, due to her enhanced strength. She can take whatever form she chooses, but whatever it is will always be on the smallish side of it's species, with whitish-silver scales/fur and maroon eyes.

Twin-liness (a term coined by Angel and myself): Illuna always has a sense of the general direction and well-being of her twin sister, Soleil. This sharpens and becomes more focused the closer they are to each other. Within a mile of her twin, she can pinpoint her exact location and tell you if she has a thorn in her left heel or a stab wound in her upper arm. As with most twins with this ability, she can also sense her twin's emotional state, even when her own mental barriers are up.

Character Personality: Illuna is the opposite of her fiery sister, Soleil. Illuna tends to be shy and quiet, keeping mostly to herself and avoiding new people. Though she is the weaker of the two, Illuna is very capable of taking care of herself. She hates fighting and violence, but will not hesitate to defend herself or her sister. In the time that has passed since she left the village and parted ways with her sister, Illuna has spent a lot of time practicing with her powers, and it has become one of her favorite things to do. When she isn't traveling, fighting, resting, or even healing, you will often find her in a secluded spot at night, training. Though Illuna is slow to anger, one of the quickest ways to make her mad is to call her half-breed or monster, or to hurt someone she cares about. When she's angry, her eyes and even the tattoo on her face seem to glow with power, especially if you're dumb enough to anger her at night during a full moon.

Character History: Illuna's mother gave birth to her and her twin on the largest of the islands off of the coast of Alagaesia. Her mother was a seamstress in the village, and she made not only clothes, but sails for the boats. One day a strange man with maroon eyes visited the island. Mel, their mother, was strangely attracted to the man, even though she knew him to be a Shade. There was a kindness in those blood-red eyes that she had never expected to see. Knowing the other villagers would never approve, she secretly married the man. However, his heart was a wandering one, and he soon left the village. Not long after he left, Melinda discovered she was pregnant, and some months later, gave birth to twin girls. She named them Illuna and Soleil, for the strange tattoos each girl had on their face. One of a crescent moon, the other of the sun.
To the little girls delight, their father returned a few years after they were born and spent some time with them, learning as much about them as they were about him. And then he left again, as their mother had told them he would, but they weren't sad about it, especially the littlest one, Illuna. She knew that he would be back, that it was just his way to not stay for long in one place.
And so it would go on like that for many years, their father would come to visit once every few years and stay for a month or two, teaching them about their own gifts and about himself. Then when the girls were sixteen, a little while after their father's last visit, a horde of strangers attacked their village, screaming for the islanders to turn Tedren the Shade over to them. In the chaos and fighting, their mother was killed. Rage such as she had never felt before coursed through Illuna then, ignoring the last thing her mother had ever told her to do, she charged from her hiding place, determined to grind these men into dust. Two hundred men had come to the island with violence in their hearts, and two hundred men fell before the fury of the Shade's daughters.
During the fight, Illuna had breached the mental defenses of one of the magicians in charge, and had discovered that a man whose family had been killed by her father many years before she was born, had sent them after him. Not only that, but there was another threat on it's way, though it wasn't clear what. So the day after the attack, when the villagers that were still alive were tending to the dead and wounded, Illuna left the village. She hasn't been back since, but she hopes she will meet up with Soleil soon, since she hasn't seen her since they split up after leaving the village.

Weakness/Fear: Illuna is weaker during the day than at night, though not entirely helpless. She is afraid of the nameless terror that is supposedly dogging her and her sister's trail, waiting to exact revenge upon them for something their father did long ago, before he became the man they know now.

Likes: Soleil, Sasha, healing

Dislikes: The man who sent mercenaries after her father, who killed her mother instead, the nameless threat that was sent on the heels of the mercenaries.

Appearance: Illuna has pure white hair, cut choppily short, but in a cute way. When she stands in the sun, her hair shines as bright as a diamond. She is 5'6" tall, with a thin, willowy body. Her skin has slightly more color than her hair, but it never tans, and never burns. On her left cheek there is a crescent moon tattoo that she was born with. Her eyes are a bright maroon color, obviously a sign of her Shade heritage. At night when she uses her full power, her body becomes wrapped in silver and white light, her eyes glow with power, and the tattoo on her face, normally black, glows with silvery-white light, not unlike moonlight. Illuna normally wears clothes in pale colors, so as to not draw attention to her abnormally pale hair and skin. (Not that it works.)

Weapons: Her powers, and a sword of medium length. The sword has no name, but the blade is the same color as the light that swirls around her when she uses her full power, with a dyed black-leather wrapped hilt. The cross-guard is shaped like a t, with the horizontal parts of the cross pointing slightly up-and-in, the better to trap an enemy's sword. The pommel contains a single diamond, that Illuna occasionally puts her own energy into, though it is nowhere near being full.

Animal Companion: When she reached Alagaesia's mainland after leaving the island she had been raised on, Illuna wandered for days, not sure of what to do with herself. After a few days, she stumbled upon a wolf pup, who for some reason had been shunned by the rest of the pack. The creature was close to starvation and it took Illuna awhile to tempt the creature to her so she could feed it and tend it's wounds. After a hot bath, plenty of soap and food, a beautiful white she-wolf pup was standing where once a scraggly, dirty, and starved whelp had been. Illuna opted to keep the pup since she had been turned out by her pack, naming the she-wolf Sasha. Sasha has a thin strip of black-and-grey hairs sprinkled in amongst the white that runs from the base of her neck to a little ways up her tail.
