I'm kind of surprised there's not a topic like this on here already...(Lol, there might be, actually, I just didn't see it.)
I made this topic so ppl could talk about their favorite sports and teams.
For all you Americans: How 'bout them Cowboys? (Lol, I'm dying of suffocation after yesterday)
Hmmm... My school totalled their opponent at last Friday nights football game. (For obvious reasons I can't release school names) Final score was 65-0. At half-time the score was 40-0. (Although I've asked around and apparently the other team hasn't won any games this season.)
(I'm Texan, so that should answer questions about why a girl made a sports topic.)

Re: Sports
the Falcons are better than the Cowboys
one of my bro's plays football for a high school near us...they've gone undefeated this year. there last game was 2 weeks ago because nobody wanted to play them again. they're going to Tennessee for the championship. when they beat a team the coaches from the other team accused them of cheating because they won 50 something to 6 and the other team didn't score until the last 3 seconds

Oh come on. You don't have to be Texan to be into sports...
Motorcross, BMX, and a whole other bunch of stuff I do when I'm in the mood. Like running, swimming, Tae Kwon Doe (heh) shot put, hurdles...

Re: Sports
Lol, I know Silver, but I was anticipating somebody asking why a girl made this topic. I was just stating that I'm a girl from Texas, and Texans are notoriously famous for our love of sports (especially high school and college football). In the NFL I would have to say my favorite team is the Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, my mom doesn't like sports, so I hardly ever get to watch them play. (The curse of having one tv in the house strikes again.)
Lol, unless our guys get cocky and don't play as hard, we might not keep up our undefeated streak. That happened my freshman year. I must brag though, most of the teams we've played this year have only gotten 1 or 2 touchdowns each game. (Although one of the earlier games of the season the score was 29-19, very close those last 2min of the game.) Gotta go!

Re: Sports
I noticed football, so here I am Brad Johnson is not a patch on Tony Romo, even if I dislike Romo for no reason. Haha, my high school team would do that too, beat up on all the teams they played. For some reason we have(had) a lot of talent, and a very good coach even if he makes biased personnel decisions. (long story) Here in NY we have the Giants (on bye), the Jets who stink even with Favre(and lost to the Raiders ) and the Bills who are looking pretty darn good. (W over San Diego) The Falcons are better when the Cowboys start Johnson I kind of like running, but not on a track or in the winter... (Friend of mine quit the track team because he was "tired of running in circles all day" Go figure.) I want to try motocross sometime, but I also want my neck in one piece. Yeah Shade, I know what you're saying. Chicago, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Green Bay are all pansy warm weather teams who don't understand REAL cold. Professional Hockey (NHL) will be a joke in my eyes until they toughen up their rules on fighting. Swimming's fun too, but cricket makes no sense to me. I've watched it a few times, but I don't get pretty much anything about it... Well there's nothing wrong with parties.

Re: Sports
Lol, don't even mention Tony Romo. He's more focused on showing off Jessica Simpson and nursing his poor wittle bwoken pinkie finger than playing football. (Lol, I don't really like the Cowboys, "How 'bout them Cowboys" is a sarcastic saying ppl in my town have, used mostly in awkward situations to lighten the mood, lol!)
I like swimming, but I've never watched it (well, maybe once during the Olympics, not really sure, long story, lol.)
NHL annoys me, but I might go to high school matches if they had any hockey teams around here.
My fav baseball team is the Texas Rangers.

Re: Sports
*cries* It originated in England, even if we stink at it.
This week was rag week (dress up differently each days) and today was character day, so I was playing basketball with a Mexican, a pimp, a giant Peperami and a hobo. We got some funny looks.

Heh, I was Indiana Jones You see giant leprechauns... ok lol.
I used to play netball loads and loads about 6 years ago, then quit sports pretty much altogether through senior school, and now I've started again, the netball seems to have paid off though
Somehow, I always end up with the tallest person marking me Not really fair...

Re: Sports
Hah, I was Indiana Jones last Halloween doing handouts, but managed only a fleeting resemblance. Basically people asked if I was a cowboy... Yeah, me and my dad saw this huge green leprechaun complete with red beard up here walking around. (St. Patricks) Netball? Size is only one factor, you said you have the speed, so break their ankles

Re: Sports
Hah, advice duly noted.
Netball is basically basketball, but you can't move with the ball (no dribbling at all) and there's no backboard on the net, just a big pole with... a net on top (I think the nets are also slightly higher than ones in basketball, but only by like, 2 inches or something). I personally think it's harder than basketball, but it's a stupid game anyway, which is why I don't play it any more.
Wow that's pretty cool about the leprechaun, I didn't know anyone celebrated St. Patricks day except in Ireland. We also had Hagrid, Banana man, lots of smurfs, the cast of Scrubs, Spiderman, Wonderwoman and more today... also the guys think it's a good excuse to wear skirts and tights. It is not- there is no excuse for that ever

Re: Sports
A good excuse for them to wear skirts and tights? Well the majority of this city is Polish or Irish, so I guess it makes sense. There's still several ethnic restaurants and such, which is pretty neat. Haha I was at church the other day, and the sermon ended up with quotes about beer in heaven or somesuch. And by, you guessed it, a Polish and Irish saint. I wonder what that says..... Hmm, I think I did something similar in PE...they come up with a lot of dumb games...which are usually less fun than some random sport...go figure. I hate the smurfs, long story. I wish people here were that spirited heh, did any of them look like they were supposed to? Right. and if you lose the ball or fall over, just say you're so fast you break your own ankles I'm sure no one's ever heard that before...

Re: Sports
1. Yeah, don't ask me why I'm surrounded by wanna-be transvestites 2. That does make more sense I suppose. 3. That sounds like a more interesting sermon than I expected 4. I used to be on my primary school netball team for about 4 years, in our first ever game we lost 23-3, in our last ever, we won 23-3 (and against the same school) weird... 5. I also hate the smurfs, not a long story, I just hate them lol. 6. Honestly, people in my college are crazy, they're the kind of people that would dance like nobody's watching. And yeah, it was actually quite easy to tell who most of them were supposed to be. I love rag week- Monday was Pyjama day, Tuesday: Neon, Wednesday: Beach/Pirate, Thursday: Uniform, Friday: Character. Thursday was terrifying, so many guys dressed up as school girls *shudders*. They used to have a kinky day, but stopped it after someone got arrested for only coming in in their boxers 7. That is a good excuse, today I blamed any mistakes on my ridiculously heavy hiking boots XD

AARRRGGHHH!! We should have won our game Friday, but the referee missed a call! He said #22 (our team) dropped the ball, but he didn't! If he hadn't of messed up that call, we would have won! Anywho, it wasn't bad, the final score was 25-22.

Re: Sports
So have you guys heard about the Phillies winning the World Series? Oh gosh it's like crazy at my school right now, everyone has the Phever, seriously. This week it's become an unwritten rule that teachers can't assign homework on the night of a Phill's game. And now there's gonna be a huge parade in Philly tomorrow to celebrate the win and I think at least 75% of the kids are gonna go, so we had to move our pep really to the morning. And you're actually allowed to leave at 10:10 and it's counted as a full day of school. And if you write 'parade' on your absence card it's an excused absence. I'm not going though, lol. Not a real big baseball fan, but I guess it's cool that they won after like 28 years or something. So yeah, Philly is a nice place to be right now.

0mg! My English teacher ( a HUMONGOUS Phillies fan) literally threw a party for our class the day after they won the World Series. It was pretty cool, though. I don't like the Phillies, but like Kotor said, at least people still get excited about something.

Re: Sports
Oh wow wow wow, I just watched the final grand prix F1 race of 2008, Lewis Hamilton (the guy I support, he's English, and better than Jenson Button- hah, Button, what a funny name) needed to be 5th or better to win the World Championship, he was 5th for the second half of the race (Massa was first most of the way, if Hamiltion came lower than 5th Massa would have won the Championship) but Hamilton dropped to 6th in the last 4 laps. Glock didn't bother changing his tires (it started to rain and he was still uing the drys) and he was ahead of Hamiltion, Massa crossed the line first and his team were celebrating, but Glock suddenly slowed literally on the last few corners because his tires weren't good in the rain and Hamilton came 5th, winning the Championship!!! Yay! The crowd weren't happy though, it was in Brazil- Massa's home country.

Re: Sports
Lol, I still haven't heard much, but I do know that the 1st playoff game (this Friday) will be at my band director's old high school. But I wouldn't dare think of doing anything or trying to find out anything that would embarrass him....Or would I? Jk, but anyway, I think this is going to be a good game, but I haven't heard much about the team we're playing.
