Music Discussion and Recommendations
This is just a place to discuss overall music interests, lyric interpretations, genre tastes, and anything about music. It's a place to discuss what music you really like, why you like it, and even why you would recommend it to others. I thought it would be better than simply posting what you are listening to, or what music you like, but instead why you like it. This is only for serious discussion, so please don't post here if you are only going to say you like whatever song because it's "so cool" or something like that. So here goes:
For example, one of my favorite songs is Fight Inside, by RED. <-- Listen here I like it because it talks about the duality inside all people, the inner struggle everyone has inside them. Everybody has light and dark inside them, and whichever they choose to follow decides who they are. I also really like the band RED because of their themes and meaning in their songs. I really recommend listening to some stuff by RED; you won't regret it.

Looks like a nice topic. I'll post if ya don't mind ;P
I second that suggestion on Red. Even if you think you dislike screaming or heavy music you should still listen to them, because they still retain a sense of harmony in their sound despite the loud, thrashing guitars and screams. Mainly because of their use of a full orchestra in most of their songs. And not all of their stuff is heavy. But don't take my word for it, listen to them if you want to see for yourself.
This song is kind of playing in my mind a lot these days:
Anywhere But Here by Rise Against
It could mean a bunch of different things. Many think of it as a relationship song, while others relate it to political themes. To me, though, I kind of see it as my own graduation song, lol. Since I'm moving on to a new phase of my life after high school, this song kind of relates. There are so many paths I could take in life, all of them 'anywhere but here'. Also, the tune makes me feel free-spirited and even ready for the future. In the chorus all of the instruments and singing just blends together really well and it's all just kind of inspiring ... to me at least. This song is my resounding anthem of youth and new beginnings.

I third the suggestion on RED! RED is my favorite band for sure, and Arya really already described them. On top of everything she said, they haven't ever cursed in any of their songs, and they never will, due to the fact that they're a Christian band, of course. It's not that I dislike when cursing is in a song, it's just that I'd prefer they don't. Sometimes it's necessary to get a point across, but they shouldn't be used so carelessly. This is only my opinion though, lol.
I can't fully make up my mind on a favorite song at the moment, but I have a few. Plus, it depends on whether it's my favorite calmer, more meaningful song or faster one. Deciding on a favorite overall song is difficult.

Hello, siblings -.-
I fourth that on RED. Seriously, check them out if you've got some time on your hands.
Frankly, I could go on and on about so many different songs and why I like them/what they mean to me/whatever. So I'll just pick one for now.
Runaway - Linkin Park
I think the meaning of the song is pretty self explanatory. Though different people can get more out of it than others. I like the song mainly because it describes the way I feel about some stuff....But I think this could get slightly political/religious. So maybe I should avoid that... Well, basically, one particular line in the song that's repeated several times is "Guilty by association". I guess I don't need to explain that...basically, I like the message that the song conveys. Overall, it has a good mix of Chester Bennington's singing and Mike Shinoda's. The music in the beginning sounds cool too, lol.

I recommend Sum 41, especially there album called Chuck for more of a metal sound than punk. Also Gorillaz, there ummm.... I guess Ill call it techno... its hard to classify... favorite rock band is 3 Doors Down. Motion City Soundtrack is also hard to classify. The Nightwatchman for folk/protest music. Atreyu for screamo. Rage Against The Machine for protest and general awesomness. REEL BIG FISH for SKA! PUTTIN' THE SKA BACK IN NEBRASKA! Venetian Snares for Breakcore. Ben Folds for piano-kinda-music. ya know... ive got taste for everything but those stupid disrespectful rappers. >.< they drive me nuts rhyming about stupid things that don't even make sense. OH! DONT FORGET THE FAINT! awesome techno strait outta Omaha!

Re: General Music Discussion and Recommendations
Sokka, maybe it'd be best to change the title to "Music Recommendatons" you know? >.< Cause there's a whole subforum here
As for me, well, I go with my motto, "Fussy with music but not the genres". Fits, lol. (Lol @ Flesh for Gorrillaz ftw ^.^) but music needs to strike the cords in sound as well as lyrics. You've gotta remember it, you'v gotta be able to picture the music in your mind.
I recommend Moby if you're a thinker. If you have a wide imagination. If you can think out of the square, the triangle and the octagon.
I recommend Machinae Supremacy if you also have a wide imagination and sense of ... well ... movement

Re: General Music Discussion and Recommendations
I'd make a long list of recommendations and reasons for them that would probably change your life forever, but nobody ever bothers taking notice of what I have to say on the topic of music, so instead I'll just post one of the darkest, depressing and deeply meaningful songs I can think of.
Have fun
No, it's not like that all the way through, that's just the intro, before you complain. Personally I'd listen to the intro alone anyway, nice singing.
