Does anyone think Galbotorix uses the Ra'zac to kill people and steal their souls and store them in a vault? Galby then gets his power from the souls and grows stronger with each soul.

umm... no. If he knew where the vault of souls was, he would be there 24-7 getting more powerful. I am sure it isn't in urubane and that is where he is 24-7

It would go a long way toward explaining how he keeps gaining power and how Murtagh became so strong so fast and why Eragon felt as if a multitude of different souls were inside Murtagh when they fought.

if this was true, which I doubt it is, Galby would have almost unlimited power, which he doesn't. His power does have a limit believe it or not. I think he just discovered how to make heat or sunlight into electricty or something like that.

then if eragon opens vault of souls wat will happen?

probably the souls go to somewhere else and Galby and MUtagh is weakened. Eragon will be able to defeat them.

Oh but for the other question..... Were is the vault of souls?????? I personaly think it could possibly be....The thing under the Helgrind on the map in the beginning of both books...or it could be that thing above Aroughs... Who knows oculd be anywere.

the rock of Kuithan is where Ertagon must go to find and open the vault of souls. and i dont think galby knows where it is. he has gained his power in the soul aspect much like that of a shade. except durza's spirits took over and made a shade. murtaugh and Galby are strong enough to control them. plus they arer using the evil or dark magic.

i think it could be because in Eldest Murtags mind had soul likre thing (forgot what Eragon acutaly said.) so many he and Gallby r using it to get power

Second theory:
THe first dragon rider stored secrets and all the dead dragon rider's souls go there. Eragon is the password since he was the first rider. all the dead dragon riders give Eragon knowledge and help him defeat the empire.

yea i was thinking about this, and i thought that when he goes there, he somehow was infused with the power of the first eragon and his dragon. or maybe even all of the riders and dragons that died!

I think that Galby has found a spell which opens the vault because why should a 'vault' stay open should'nt it be closed?? And that it might not be a vault but a place where souls go when they die and that eragon will go there and the old riders will giv him there powers and so will the dragons so eragon will then have enough power to finally defeat Galby and then because there will be barly any riders left eragon and the third rider will leave and go to the place where the elves came from in the beginning.

that actualy makes sense because as much as like eragon i refuse to belive that he could beat galby and mutagh with the power he has now. and here's a question:

if eragon kills galby before murtagh, is murtagh free? and if he is, will he still be evil?

yeah murtagh probably will die. still, its something to think about.

If Eragon did kill Galby first, he would not go after Murtagh. Reason states fact!!! In book 2, Eldest, when Murtagh was fighting Eragon and had him pinned on the ground, Eragon tried to get Murtagh back with his normal self, but Murtagh told Eragon the King made him swear in the ancient language, and the only way that could be broken was if Galby died or let him go.

Now, what I think is in the open vault of souls is a bit of inside information, a little more about the ancient language than even the elves know. I don't think it is going to give him the power to kill Murtagh and Galby. The only reason I think that is in the middle of the fight of Eragon and Murtagh, they gave us an insight of Eragon would be able to kill him. He was faster and more skilled in swordsmanship, and he didn't want to use the magic because he wanted to save it for more deadly sercumstances. The only reason Muratgh was able to over power Eragon is Eragon just got done fighting an army, and using magic the whole time. And then he is also going back to the elves for more training.

Also, I think the open vault of souls will tell Eragon how Galby and Murtagh got so powerfull.

oromis can tell Eragon what makes them powerful. I think that because it it the Vault of SOULS.... wait a minute.... VAULT!!!! I can't believe i didn't think of this before!!! Either all the riders' souls go there, OR Galby put the riders' souls there of which he killed, siphoning off their power. When Eragon opens it, they will come and aid him, giving him their power.

He probably finds an opening in the ground which is a secret passage.

I think the weapon under the Menoa tree IF it hasnt been found yet is the key to open the vault and the entrance to the vault is THROUGH the rocks. A weapon does'nt necessarly have to be used and could be some thing that gives a greater weapon more power.
Also Oromis did say that thinking is what gives the anicient language power so if Eragon learns how to do it it migh tunlock more power for him to defeat Galbatorix I rekon i think to much cause this is making me think now

It's a sword, and we have a theory that the Linnea family has the weapon because it is related to the tree as in origin and the other family has the other sword.

You,like many others,think too much with logic and not magic on these forums CP doesnt need it to be a reallike WEAPON weapon,it could be like an energy restoration root or sumthing odd like that...it could be a tome(spellbook) with a single spell thats like extremely and utterly powerful.i mean u never know it could be sumthin tottally weird cuz cp wants to keep us on our toes,ya know?

Why would it be a spellbook? And also if you remember Eragon had his weapon tooken away by Murtagh, and now he is left without a weapon, and if you also remember there are two swords in Ellesmera held by two elven families that are related to the Menoa tree so he is going to get his sword from them, that's what I think and many others do too.

twas an example btw ,and yes i know murtagh stole zar roc but that still does not mean that its a sword...it could be a sword but thats too mundane for a great story like this

there's a theory that saphira is hiding from eragon the fact that brom is his father . we know that she does sometimes keep secrates from him like when she doesnt tell him brom was a rider, but i dont think if she did know that she eould keep something of such importance from him if she did know how they were so strong. and after one thing - i cant remember what - but she refuses to meat eragons gaze and refuses to answer him , i tihnkits when they learn more of brom from oromis

Yes, but if Oromis knows it, he probably just made Eragon stronger before the battle with the empire. and it is more likely Saphira knows because Brom died.

It would be wierd if Eragon actually fleds with the elves in the end without fighting Galbotorix at all and then make an army and attack when he is older.

Maybe the valt of souls is where the dwarf gods are and all the other souls and if eragon goes there the gods will help him defeat galby and murtagh
