Time for my next villain. . . This time a servant of Galbatorix.

ELVEN SKILL: Vaerin has been granted the abilities of an elf via experimental magic. Meaning superhuman strength, speed and senses.
MAGIC SENSE: Vaerin is so in tune with magic that he can see the energy associated with it with his own mind. He can see the patterns of wild magic, and can easily track them down, as his mission requires. However, incredibly massive amounts of energy in one spot is so bright that it is disorientating to him.
TOUCH OF FEAR: Because of a certain experimental spell given by none other than Galbatorix, Vaerin is able to instill tremendous, paralizing fright into those he touches with his right hand after muttering a spell. (Similar to the Ra'zac but much more effective) The effect is the most powerful and near irresistible in humans, while the effect is weakened in Dwarves and Elves, and doesn't effect dragons. This skill is activated when he touches the subject's flesh and says Hraezla. (The spell remains strong for as long as Vaerin is in physical contact with the victim, and once he lets go, the spell lasts for a short period of time before wearing off. If the victim escapes before the spell is completed, then the spell has no effect.)
IMMOLATION: A spell that Vaerin meddled with in his travels, Vaerin surrounds himself with a cloak of golden flames, which can burn anyone close by, yet he himself is not harmed. An effective and powerful tactic when fighting in hand to hand combat, the heat is so intense, it can give severe burns from several feet away. However the spell is short lived and rapidly drains Vaerin's energy. The maximum time he can sustain it is only a few minutes.
DEMONIC RAGE: When angered or stressed greatly, which is a rarity, the unstable experimental spells that Galbatorix placed on him backfires, and he temporarily becomes insane with a rabid thirst for blood. This unhuman anger is characterized by Vaerin's teeth becoming sharp points, his skin becomes pale and stretched, and finally his pupils turn into slits and his eyes glow a devilish red. He is physically no different than his normal form, yet he appears to show no signs of wear in a long battle. When he returns to his normal state, he remains weak and tired for hours to days; depending on how long he was enraged.

Personality~
Vaerin is a cold, dark elite servant of King Galbatorix. Stolen from his family as a baby and matured under the influence of extremely dangerous magical experiments, his experience with pain and torment clearly desensitized him to emotion. At least, any positive emotion. He speaks only when it is appropriate to do so, and is known to never smile. And judging by his appearance, you do not expect him to. He rarely gets angry, however, for he is patient most of the time. Only in the most stressful of times does he ever get upset, which is a cause of concern for itself. Vaerin gives no mercy, hence his title, and thus is a ruthless fighter and a very business-like assassin. A man's death means nothing to him unless he had more importance to him alive. Vaerin is extremely experienced in magic, and is second only to Galbatorix in magical skill and invention, and as his servant, his loyalty lies with the Empire and the Empire only. He is against anyone who challenges the king's power, especially the Varden. Because of his restricting and misery filled life, he doesn't have any dreams of freedom for himself, yet he secretly envies those who are. He uses that envy to fuel his anger during his battles. If he isn't free, no one is.

History~
Vaerin was born from poor peasant parents in the slums of Urû'Baen, yet showed a proficient skill in magic, even as an infant. Galbatorix's soldiers spread the news of the magical child, and the Tyrant King ordered the boy to be brought to him. The parent's resistance led to their executions, and the young Vaerin was brought to Galbatorix, who was searching for his next subject to magical experiments on altering his soldiers. Vaerin was relatively cared for, albeit with a cruel, cold life, learning multiple fighting and survival skills, until his 18th birthday, when the experimentation begun.
At first the experiments that Galbatorix did were small. . . Changes in appearance such as facial structure, eye color, and hair color were studied. But then, after a year, came the painful tests. It was here that Galbatorix began to place and test spell after spell, some horribly painful, some unbelievably strange, and others containing unspeakable horrors. For ten long years, he endured the experimentation of Galbatorix, eventually becoming brainwashed into becoming a shell of his former self; devoid of all previous thought and becoming a near inhuman slave. Eventually, however, Galbatorix perfected many of the spells, and promoted Vaerin to a private assassin for the king. In this job, he perfected the art of assassination, and returned to Urû'Baen to learn his next mission. Word of dragons surviving the Fall of the Riders had reached the king's ears, and had placed Vaerin to investigate. After learning from the Eggbreaker himself in how to slay dragons, Vaerin set off. To terminate the dragon race once and for all.

Weapons~
Vaerin has no set weapon, as he is an assassin. Anything small and sharp he will add to his arsenal, whether it be a knife to poison darts, he will have it hidden somewhere on his person and hidden extremely well. Normally he carries hundreds of weapons with him and doesn't appear to show it, but for his assassination jobs, his favorite is a black bladed curved dagger. Magically reinforced and so sharp that a hair dropped onto the blade will split in two. He tends to favor this weapon in an assassination, specifically for slitting throats. He also can effectively throw any blade, spike, or knife at deadly speed and accuracy. Though he has no talent whatsoever with a sword or bow.

Likes~
Serving the Empire, slaying his enemies, victims of his assassinations that don't put up a fight. Power given to him by Galbatorix.

Dislikes~
The Varden, Dragons, those who challenge the Empire and Galbatorix, becoming weak as a side effect from the magic placed on him.

Weakness/Fears~
Vaerin fears being left vulnerable after a magically enraged bout, and fears that he is merely expendable to Galbatorix

Physical Description~
Vaerin has a long face, long, black hair, and golden amber eyes with an intense, cold stare. A gold circlet adorns his brow, which matches his eyes. As an elite of Galbatorix's court, his armor and clothing is black and gold. Both his tunic and armored breastplate are inlayed with the golden flame insignia of the Empire. Vaerin is somewhat thin, yet very muscular and tall at a little above 6' 1". His cheek bones are very prominent, and his eyes are usually sunken in and half closed. If you look closely at his person, you might be able to see one or two hidden knives, spikes, claws, or darts that he uses constantly in battle and "Business" as he prefers to call it. That is, if you can get close enough to even see it. In full armor, Vaerin dons black metal shoulder plates, a gold inlayed breastplate, grieves and bracers. Along with light chain mail and a black and gold helm with only an eye slit that completely hides his face and makes his already intimidating presence even more so, and his voice is said to be like a snake; slithering, slippery, and smooth.

Dreams for the Future~
Become higher in Galbatorix's ranks; become Durza and the Ra'zac's replacement as carrying out the official business of the Empire

Reasons for Dreams~
Growing up under Galbatorix's experimentation, Vaerin was brainwashed into giving his full loyalty and heart into the Empire and as Galbatorix's servant. He was jealous of the freedom that Durza hand, and the business that the Ra'zac was charged with to carry out, and he wants that power. Now that both are dead, maybe he can be the next replacement. . .
