Re: The Giver
had to read this for school, 2 years ago, and no, it wasn't too bad. it was a school book, which made it less appealing, especially cus it had other work attatched to it, but it wasn't bad at all

You should read the rest of the book, and keep it away from your brother lol.

Re: The Giver
I read The Giver for school. It was really good in my opinion. I tried to get my dad to read it. He's been reading it for about four months and is only about halfway through it. He's a slow reader.

Re: The Giver
No offence you guys but that book was so wierd. I mean they kill people if your too old or if you break the rules 3 times. I had to read it for school but the book was so stupid. I hated it. If you guys liked it i mean no disrespect at all.

Re: The Giver
I read the book, and I believe the ending was opened to interpretation by the reader.
And I did like it. It was different!!!

Re: The Giver
LOL!! Nothing wrong with that!!!! It gave me a perspective as of what life would be if people were to be controlled in all regards by just a few. Scary, HUH?

Re: The Giver
yes, the overall ideas it presented were kind of creepy. it's weird, what ideas some authors have thrown out there

Re: The Giver
You could actually hate this book so much because it was really good. That's a scary thought lol.

Toph Bei Fong wrote: yes, the overall ideas it presented were kind of creepy. it's weird, what ideas some authors have thrown out there The thing is the book makes you think what would happen to you, your blood-family and relations if a group of people had this type of control over society! Would you be able to fight it, and how? Everything is controlled!!!
Good, creepy, scary, thought-provoking book!

Re: The Giver
I thought that the book was quite good. And it was written to bring about thoughts on a utopian society. That's the beauty of the story. Also, the ending was open for interpretation, I believe.
