Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka closed his eyes, his hum slowly fading as he too fell into sleep. He was too tired to dream that night, the excitement of seeing his brother alive had drained him.
The next morning, he awoke very stiff. He had fallen asleep cross legged and leaned over Jia. He couldn't feel his legs and impressions of her scales were all over his face. He straighten up and the length of his back cracked, as well as a few joints he didn't think could crack. Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia subconsciously felt something stir outside her body. Her eyes fluttered as she returned to full awareness. A breath huffed from her nostrils as she slowly woke up. She yawned, her teeth flashing dully in the half-light. Her eyes opened into slits, barely revealing the brightly colored irises underneath. She lifted her head up and stretched, her spine stretching and cracked pleasantly. Her claws extended out, grasping the wooden floorboards much like a cat would. Her tongue rasped over her lips as she tried to rid her mouth of the unpleasant sensation of cottonmouth. She shook herself fully awake, her eyes opening fully. They were a warm aquamarine now, a sign saying she was in a good mood. She searched for Ka, and then burst into laughter at the sight of his face. His skin was littered with scale-like depressions, making him look like the Draconians that her brother had encountered.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked over at Jia when he felt her moving. He glared at her when she laughed at his appearance. "Haha very funny." He said sarcastically. He leaned over to tap her nose, but stopped and went ridged. When he moved, blood started to flow back into his legs, making them extremely tingly and sensitive. The feeling covered his legs and feet, it numbed his scenes. He had to resist the urge to wiggle around, all he could do was make small squeak like noises. Although it wasn't exactly pleasant for Ka the feeling wasn't strong enough to be sent over their link, so Ka had to summarize it in a few words. "Jia, no touch legs...tingly." He hoped Jia wouldn't see this as an opportunity to mess with him, and just leave him be until it went away

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia smirked at Ka, her irises twinkling. Sitting there like a lump won't help it go away. she scolded lightly, her tone teasing. She grasped the back off his tunic and lifted him up into the air. She held the material between her teeth just right so she wouldn't choke him. Straighten out your legs. I'll put you down a bit so your feet only have a little bit of weight on them. she instructed, the corners of her mouth lifting into a smile.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka let out a long squeal as Jia lifted him into the air. THe movement it caused sent tingly needle like sensations rocketing up and down his legs. Although the feeling was the same, if not worse thanks to Jia, he managed to get enough scene back to speak with her. "Actually just sitting there was the best way to make it go away!" He looked down at his legs dangling below him uselessly. "You know that when you set me down it's going to make the tingling worse don't you...your enjoying this, aren't you?" He asked rhetorically. He could tell by her teasing tone that she was doing this on purpose, he could even feel her smiling.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Maybe, maybe not. I might actually be trying to help you. she retorted gently, though he was right about her enjoying it. She drew her tail around and placed it behind his knees, supporting his legs gently. She lowered him down to the ground, laying him on his back. Stay still. This will hurt for a while, but it will help. she said, then gingerly took one of his legs in her front paws and began to massage the muscles. With her strength, she did not need to apply much pressure.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka winced as every movement made his legs tingle more. the tingling subsided a bit once Jia laid him on his back. He rolled his eyes when she said it would hurt but other wise remained quiet. As soon as Jia started massaging his leg, it started tingling, but not as bad as before. It didn't take long before feeling returned to his legs. "Ah, thank you...I can feel my legs again." He wiggled his toes just to make sure and stood up.

She stood up and stretched again, then her thoughts turned to Rathon. She was worried about him. More than worried, really. He was Ka's brother, which not only added him to her family, but to her protection as well. She turned anxious eyes to Ka, concern deep in their aquamarine depths. Can you tell if Rathon is okay? I feel terrible for letting him face Galbatorix alone... she murmured, hanging her head low.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked out the window, as if he would be able to tell simply by looking. "No...unfortunately. He's too far away for me to contact." He sighed sadly. "As do I..." He walked over to the window and looked outside. There were few people in the street as it was still fairly early. He wished he could tell how his brother was doing, when he a thought struck him. He began to search threw the drawer until he found a small bowl. He then used seals to gather the moister in the air to the bowl and fill it to the rim. He thought for a moment and then spoke in a low tone, "Draumr kópa" The surface of the water began to change, and he saw his brother. He gripped the edge of the bowl until his knuckles turned white. A white hot rage filled him, and his vision filled in around the edges until all he saw was his brother in the bowl. Before him was an image of his brother who was currently writhing in pain with his hands above him. He wore no shirt and every few moments a new cut would join the many others along his torso. He could tell his ribs had been broken, as some of the stuck up at odd angles. His left arm was bent as well, but still obviously bound. He looked to be screaming in pain, and Ka was grateful he couldn't hear it. Ka picked up the bowl and threw it, shattering it on the far wall. He stood there, shaking with rage staring at the dresser but seeing nothing but the image of his brother being tortured.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia sighed, then watched curiously as her Rider searched through the drawers. She knew what he was doing the instant he began drawing in the moisture. She merged her mind into his, peering out through his eyes at the image in the water. What she saw made her feel sick. She closed her eyes and turned away, tears pricking at her eyes. She sniffed softly. The rage from Ka laced through her sadness, giving her an odd emotional mix she wasn't very sure of. Something like bitterness. I should have insisted on taking him. I should have come with him and given myself to the King, to appease him and perhaps give Rathon some reprieve. she lamented, her voice shaking. She turned anguished eyes onto her Rider, their depths filled with intense anger and self-shame. Is there nothing you can do? Nothing at all? she asked desperately, her voice cracking twice. She couldn't stand this, standing there and knowing that someone was hurting. And that someone was family.
- - - - - - - - - - Tyleek blearily raised his head, blinking sleep from his eyes. He looked out the window and found in light. usually he woke at dawn sharp. He sighed and swung his legs out over the edge of the cot, rubbing the sleep from his face. When he lowered his hands, the first thing he noticed was the shattered bowl with water around it. Then the enraged expression of Ka. And finally the mixture of emotions on Jia's face. he sprang off the bed, lavender-blue eyes wide with alarm. "What happened? Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked over at Jia sharply, almost a glare. "And then what? You would be tortured with him...that would solve nothing. Jia, I never want you to say anything like that again...do you hear me? I want you to promise me to never say anything like that again!" His enraged mind suddenly turned to a memory of a dream had had some time ago. It was of him tied up in a throne room with Jia in front of him, having been tortured, with someone hanging an axe over head neck. He shuddered as the thught of his brother and Jia dying mixed, the very thought of it hinted of insanity. He tried to calm himself enough to think and reply to Tyleek. "Rathon is being tortured by Galbatorix, I saw it when I scryed him." He began pacing, thinking of a way to rescue Rathon, but came up with nothing.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia scowled in return, her temper rising to meet Ka's. Her lips peeling back to reveal her teeth, she snarled at him. The sound reverberated around the room, shaking the very walls. I hear you, but never propose to make me promise anything again. she hissed, her eyes flashing. She drew herself to her full height, towering above her Rider by a good five feet. She snorted hard, knocking him back against the wall from the force of her breath. The gold-amethyst-dragoness snarled again, just to make sure she had his attention. I won't go. But that doesn't mean I won't do something. My brother has experience with breaking into Uru'baen, so does Phalynx. Maybe we could find them and plead for their help. Rathon has suffered enough. He doesn't need to endure anymore than he has to. she snapped, her tone hard and angry.

"I want him out just as much, if not more than you do!" He nearly yelled. He took a breath to steady himself. [i]"I'm sorry...we shouldn't be doing this, getting at each other's throats." He looked up at Jia, all notions of his previous anger gone. "Do you have a way to contact Phalynx or your brother?" Ka asked, still thinking. He was going everything they would need to break Rathon out.

She didn't have much of a temper, but she was very protective of those she considered family. She huffed softly, sighing under her breath. She cursed once in her native tongue, then opened her eyes and looked at her Rider. You are forgiven, and you are right. she murmured, flicking his shoulder tenderly with the tip of her forked tongue. I can't readily contact them at will. I don't know enough about my powers to be able to use them properly. If I'm in danger, Zeke would most likely feel it because of his ability and would of course come to help me. Phalynx would follow her powers as well. Zeke told me she can sense where she is needed, and when. she said, shrugging hopelessly. "You said that Zeke would come if you were in danger, right? Well what if we put you in danger? Not real danger of course, but what if I pretended to attack you...do you think that would be sufficient enough for at least Zeke to feel?" He knew it wasn't a very good idea, as it could back fire, or not work at all, but at least it was something.

It would need to be very serious...I would probably have to be near death, just so he would come urgently. Before you argue, and I know you will, can you "kill" me with one of your seals, yet still be keeping me alive, so that Zeke could feel me dying and come with all haste? she asked, pressing her neck into his hand tenderly.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka growled low in his throat, not a threatening growl but one that said he didn't like that idea at all. " I could, not with a conventional seal because seals are made to be fairly straight forward. I was have to make a new seal, but yes it is possible." He thought for a moment, trying to come up with an alternative, but couldn't. He sighed and walked to the window. "I'll go get started. I may need your strength, because I don't know how much will be needed to make this seal. I'll be back soon though." He jumped out the window and on to the roof. Once there, he went into his true form and summoned the base of all the seals he knew; hell, heaven, earth, void, and reapric. He made each one bigger, as if magnifying it and revealed that each ring was made a thousands of tiny runes, all moving in a circle. He began taking runes from each seal, seemingly at random. Each time he did a tendril of energy would be snapped as he drew it away from the rest of them. It didn't take him long to make one complete ring. It was multicolored, a combination of all of the seals.
He started on the second ring. This time, the runes were harder to get, and required more energy to obtain. By the time he had completed the second ring, he was panting heavily. He slowly started the third and final ring, each rune taking as much energy as the other two had combined. As the last rune fell into place, his legs gave way and he fell to his knees. The seals waivered in the air, but stayed in place. He began to leech a small amount of energy from Jia without asking, hoping she wouldn't mind. He only took enough to finish the seal. He added several runes between the rings, and left the middle blank. He then waved his hand over the seal to complete it. It exploded into light and as the light faded it was created. The new seal was a dull sand color, and in the middle was a rune Ka had never seen before. The seal disappeared and Ka returned to normal. As soon has he had though, he fell over from the strain making the seal had put on his body. It took him a few moments to recover enough to stumble back over to the window, swing back inside, land of his feet, trip, and fall to the floor. He raised one hand and pointed upwards. "I'm...ok..." When she felt him tug on her energy, she opened her reserves to him. After he finished, she hovered at his side, hiding a grin. Though she felt his exhaustion through their link, he looked quite comical, actually. She snuffled at his hair, ruffling the black, spiky tresses into a lump. You pale-wingless-rats are so delicate. she teased affectionately, snorting softly. She threaded a piece of energy to him, boosting him with her strength.

All it will do is slow down your body functions, heart beat, breathing and such to a nearly undetectable level. The downside is that we will have to sever our connection for it to work." He looked up at Jia. "Are you sure you still want to do this?" He asked, hoping that there was another way but knew that there wasn't.

She staggered as she felt the affects; Ka's comforting presence was not there. She couldn't reach out her mind and touch his consciousness. Loneliness crashed over her, nearly overwhelming her senses. She could feel Ka, physically, but she could not feel his mind brush her own. Her eyes opened and she focused them on her Rider, tears glittering in the corners and making her irises shine with moisture. She clenched them shut again and pushed her snout into his chest. She knew he would interpret it as a "Go ahead," from her, despite their inability to speak to each other.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka fell a wave of energy wash over him, it was more than enough for the seal, followed by an emptiness that he remembered from the days before he met Jia. He felt cold inside, like the light of the world had been snuffed out. He looked at Jia and saw her eyes shine with tears before she closed them again and pushed her snout into his chest. He assumed it met go ahead. He formed the seal on her neck, and it glowed as it took effect. Soon she would slip into a death-like sleep that only the removal of the seal could wake her from. It sickened him to do this, but he knew he must.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia rumbled once, then froze at the touch of the Seal. It didn't exactly hurt, but it was ice cold yet burning hot at the same time. She could feel it constricting her breath, slowing her heart beat to a dangerously low level. She tried not to panic, knowing that she wasn't actually dying, but it was hard to fight her instinctive response. Her vision faded into darkness as she fell away from Ka, slumping to the ground on her side. Her eyes closed, her nostrils flared once more before falling still, and her heart rate now, was nearly undetectable. Unless you touched her mind, finding she was only unconscious, in all other respects, she was dead.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka watched as Jia fell to the floor, bile rising from his stomach, he had to swallow to avoid throwing up. He knew she wasn't dead, but she certainly seemed so. Now all he had to do what wait for Zeke to come crashing threw the wall. He thought for a moment and figured that that wouldn't exactly be very smart. As much as he hated to leave her side, he went up to the roof so that Zeke wouldn't destroy the building when he came.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Zeke jerked around in the air, panic flooding him as he felt a desperate tug from his sister. He'd never felt that specific pull, yet he knew it. Jia was dying. He roared and took off at new speeds, easily out flying the speed of an arrow. He was blind with rage and worry, worry at whether he would get there in time, rage at whoever was hurting his sister. In his anger, it only took him perhaps ten minutes to reach the border of Surda, and even less time to find the right city. He was beginning his search for Jia when he saw Ka, her Rider. The Reaper was standing on a roof top, seemingly above Jia. He folded his wings and dove, alighting as gently as he could on two separate buildings; his bulk was too much for simply one. His lips peeled back, flames licking at his fangs as he attempted to rein in his temper. His muzzle jerked forward and halted mere inches from Ka's chest, jaws slightly parted. His ice blue eyes were nearly boiling over with light from his powers. Where is she? he snarled, almost shouting the query into the Rider's mind, his voice so tight with rage he could barely speak at all.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka felt Zeke before he saw him, although he was going so fast that it wasn't much of warning. Ka kept his face calm as the large dragon put his muzzle inches in front of him, even though he was scared out of his mind. He winced as Zeke's question reverberated around in his head like an echo. "Calm down won't you? we need your help, and Jia said that the quickest way to get you to come was to put her in danger." Ka waved his hand and the seal on Jia shattered, returning her functions to their normal speed. "But she's not in danger, so please, calm down." KA took a step back away from the large dragon and hopped that seeing that Jia was actually ok would be enough to calm him down.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia's eyes flew wide abruptly. She coughed several times, dragging air into her oxygen deprived lungs. The first thing she felt was the enraged presence of her brother. So it had worked. She could pride over that later; now she needed to calm Zeke down before he ripped Ka's head off. She flew out the window (almost literally) and clambered up onto roof. Her brother's muzzle was inches away from her Rider, flames licking his teeth. She sprang forward and stood in front of him, shielding Ka and showing Zeke that she was, indeed, alive. He paused, blinking a few times as his brightly glowing eyes registered what he was seeing. She pressed her snout to his, humming gently. Z, I'm fine, I'm fine. You can feel my warmth. You can smell my scent. I'm alive. Calm down. she soothed. The flames cut off inside his maw and his eyes dimmed. He leaned down suddenly and bundled her into his chest, holding her close with his jaw. She continued to soothe him until his body stopped trembling. She noticed Ka at the edge of her vision, and eagerly merged her mind with his, again establishing the link that qualified them as Dragon and Rider.
- - - - - - - - - - Zeke held Jia to him, reassuring himself that he was touching her, that she was there, vibrant, and very much alive. He did not release her as he spoke to Ka, anger still playing around the edges of his voice. But mostly his tone conveyed intense relief. If you ever make me feel that again, I swear to the Great Dragon that I will hold you down and lick you from head to toe. he threatened, and knew that it was no idle threat either; his tongue was covered with hundreds of tiny, sharply hooked barbs that could strip hide, fat, and flesh from a carcass in a single swipe. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka was very much relieved when Jia appeared between himself and Zeke. He watched as Zeke held her close, and sighed with content when he felt her mind meld with his own again. When Zeke threatened him, he thought about it, playing it out in his mind. What he saw made him close his eyes, clench his fists and shiver so violently that he took a step back. "I'm sorry, but we knew that it was the only way to get you here quickly because you were out of our range of contact. And if it helps, I was totally against it, it was Jia's idea." He said, trying to cover his own rear. As badly as he felt for what he had done, he couldn't afford to waste any more time. "Now, would you like to know why we did what we did to get you here?" He asked, wanting to hurry this plan along.

Rather than tell him, he showed him the image of his brother that he had scryed before. "That is my brother...he works for Galbatorix against his will and we want to save him. I was told that you have experience in breaking into Uru'Baen, but since you were out of range to contact, we had to resort to more extreme measures to get you here. So, will you help us?" He asked, hoping Zeke wouldn't just turn and leave.

Re: Vengeance And Blood It was Ka's turn to be irritated. He didn't have weeks, or even days. By that time, Rathon would already be back under Galbatorix's control and they would be too late. "We don't have a week. If you can't do it within the next day or so then don't even worry about it, I'll just do it myself." He knew that doing this by himself would be nearly impossible, but it was better than sitting around doing nothing.

He knew Zeke was right, if he went in alone he would die, granted he would probably be less noticeable than five dragons. He kicked a rock off the edge as he heard Zeke give him a time and then fly away. He stared off in the distance, but only saw his brother. Without turning around he spoke in a quiet voice to Jia, "Do you think this will work?"

Perhaps we won't even need to enter the castle, just get close enough so you can teleport in, grab Rathon, and get back out. Either way, I don't think it will be easy. she murmured. She finally moved, padding forward so her head hovered beside Ka at waist level. So easy its ridiculous, or so hard its nigh on impossible, I promise you, we will get Rathon out of there. Even if I must die to make it happen. she vowed solemnly, eying him tenderly with one teal iris.

Don't squander it; it took me a long time to collect that amount of money." he said sternly, though he doubted Ka would actually spend every coin. "Don't worry, I'm careful without peoples money. Is there anything particular you want while I'm out?" He asked. When Jia questioned him as to where his money had gone, he sheepishly looked away. "Oh, um...I spent it on a few things..." He said, trying to come up with a viable excuse, when in truth he had spent his money gambling and loosing.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked down, and held back a chuckle. For some reason, he found the idea of irritating Ella like that endlessly amusing. He didn't worry much when Jia said they would talk later, after all, what could words do? "Alright, I'll be back soon" He nodded to Tyleek, and left.
Outside, the first thing he did was look for a cloth shop. He didn't want to have to cart around bloody meat all day, so he figured he would buy a tunic first. It didn't take him long to find the store. The outside advertised so of the stores better items, and they weren't that great. He went inside, and spent all of about 15 minutes in the store. He had bought Tyleek 3 new tunics; moss green, slate gray, and wooden brown. They didn't cost that much, about the same as one would have at a larger city. So he moved on to the supplies. He found the food first, he bought some bread, dried meats, vegetables, and various seasonings, as well as a few jugs of sweet water. He almost moved on to medical supplies, but realized that he could do anything else he needed with magic. Thus far he had spent 15 of the 375 gold coins that were in Tyleek's pouch. He started back to the inn with his load, the whole trip taking a little more than an hour. On the way back, he passed by a small building where people were shouting. Curious, he looked inside to see what the ruckus was. To his dismay, he saw several large groups of people, gambling. He started to go back, knowing Jia wouldn't be happy with him and Tyleek would be equally upset if he lost his money, but a thought struck him. If he played it right, he could get back the 15 coins he had lost. He set the supplies down in a hole under the building, out of sight and went in. He came out staggering a bit, drunk, 3 hours later. He was also considerably poorer. Of the 362 coins he had when he went in, he only had 132 left. He knew Jia and Tyleek would probably tear him a new one, but he was too buzzed to care. He walked back to the room, tripping a few times as he did. She let him drop the supplies, hearing the substantially smaller chink of coins as he tossed the pouch back to Tyleek, before she stabbed his mind. Hard. Enough at least to wake him up. You idiot. That's all the money we have for two whole days. she growled harshly. She let him feel her disappointment, knowing that that was a better punishment than any ear boxing Ella might do to him. She sighed. Sleep it off. Tomorrow we can try to get the money back somehow. she rumbled, then purposefully walked away from him and laid down in the opposite corner. Tyleek had already put what remained of the money around his waist.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka shot up with a small yelp when Jia stabbed at his mind. It had been hard enough to pull him out of his buzz at least half way. When he felt Jia's disappointment, he looked at the wall sadly, but didn't reply. Instead be blocked off his mind, focusing on a repetitive melody he knew, and started thinking of ways to get Tyleek his money back. Most of his ideas involved stealing it from someone, or a few someones. The only problem with that was that if Jia or Tyleek found out, he would be in even more trouble. "Social morals really are a bother sometimes..." He couldn't help but think as he drifted to sleep.

"Morning..." He said, his voice a mix of sad sorriness, and hopelessness. He had no idea how to get the money back, and he had started to doubt that they would be able to break his brother out once Zeke came back. He walked over to the window and opened it, filling the room with a hazy morning light. He turned and leaned against the window sill, and looked at Jia sadly.

She lifted a paw and pried the tip of her talon under the edge of a bigger scale, about the size of Ka's fist. The hard scale fell off easily, leaving pale and soft skin uncovered. She held it between two of her talons and offered it to Ka. The golden scale glittered in the pale morning light, the very edges a shimmering amethyst. Take this and sell it. You should get triple what you lost. she said quietly, her eyes affectionate.

He let go of her neck and turned around. "I'll be back later with the money." He said seriously. He walked over to the window and jumped out, as it was faster than the door. He looked around for a shop or vendor that would buy a dragon scale. He passed a alchemy shop and figured that that was as good a place as any. He went in, and came out 20 minuet later. He had managed to sell the scale for 575 gold pieces, after much haggling and yarn spinning. With his pouch weighed down he returned to the room. As soon as he entered he held up the straining leather pouch to Tyleek. "I believe this is yours?" He said holding it out to him.

It seems like it would be simpler to have at most 2 dragons and their riders, but I'm not expert on such things." He trusted Zeke, he just didn't see how that many dragons and people would work. To pass the time, he made a seal and spawned a fire in the middle. The seal and fire floated just in front of Ka. He looked at it and snapped his fingers, which made the fire begin to change colors.

He remembered how much smaller she had been and how fascinated she had been by his fire. When she showed him her memory, he chuckled. "Ironic...I had been thinking of the same thing." He dipped his hand into the flame, watching it writhe and wiggle to try and avoid his hand; it didn't burn him.

I've just turned seven months, I think. I fledged earlier than most, but that's it. A dragon can't force it's flame to come. she said, and shrugged lightly.

"Are Dragon's fire's colors different from one another?" He asked, remembering Zeke's flame wasn't the normal color of fire.

She began to wonder when, precisely, she would be able to use her flame. Dragon fire was one of the paramount weapons a dragon could have in their arsenal.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka nodded in acknowledgment. He started to flick the fire, it changing colors as he did. He turned it yellow, and began to flick it softer. As he did, the flame turned to a golden color, almost the same as Jia's scales. He froze the fire, and touched the edge, turning it blue. He touched it again and it turned purple, and again until it was close to the amethyst of Jia's scales. He unfroze the fire and the two colors melded without combining. "Something like this possibly?" He said, moving so Jia could see the flame better.

He knew fire, but he didn't simply want a fire, he wanted to stop it so he could look at it like with a seal. After a moment or two he spoke the phrase 'Summon the fire, but hold it so I may see it.' Suddenly, the back of his hand lit up and a fire frozen in time sprung forth in the exact same colors as Jia's scales; the amethyst was cutting threw the gold like veins. "Wow..." was all Ka could say.

Try saying "Skölir abr Kveykva (Shield of Lightning)". she offered, curious as to how that would look. Probably bright yellow electricity crackling in a half circle in front of Ka, decorated with the same amethyst veins as the fire had.

"Skölir abr Kveykva" Again, the back of his hand lit up and a golden lightning arced from his hand and around the fire. The lightning made a complete circle and amethyst colored arcs began to spark inside the circle, threw the fire. "Woah..." As the amethyst arcs hit the fire, it made the fire look like it was moving as well.

As he said it, another circle of golden lightning raped around the first one so that they touched at only their poles. "Skölir abr Kveykva" He said one more time, and yet another circle of lightning appeared, placing itself between the first two so that all three were touching at their poles. In the middle of the three circles, the amethyst arcs began to arc more threw the center, creating a small white orb where all the arcs met. As he watched, the orb continued to get bigger and bigger, until it was the size of both his fists and filled the room with a white/amethyst light. "Shocking..." He restrained a laugh at his own joke.

The corner of her mouth quirked, but she managed to keep the grin off her face. The white-amethyst light brightened the purple on her own hide, causing it to become bolder against her gold scales.

"I'll have to remember that I can double and triple the same spell, it may be useful in the future..." He looked around the room for something to entertain himself with, and was slightly distressed when his eyes continued to fall on Jia. "Hey, Jia, guess what..." Without moving, a seal appeared over her head and dumped a hand full of water on her; he didn't want to get the room too wet.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia had closed her eyes and rested her jaw on the edge of the cot once Ka released the magic. She was alarmed to feel something moderately cool dripping into her eyes; they flew open as she sputtered. She glared at Ka, sure he was trying hard not to crack a smile. She snorted fiercely, small tongues of flame licking at the inside of her nostrils. They died too quickly to actually come out any further. Her eyes narrowed playfully. She decided that what her Rider needed was some time to relax and have fun. And she planned to give that to him. She snatched the back of his tunic between her teeth and hauled him into the air, quickly darting out the window and into the open sky. She repositioned her hold carefully, unwilling to scare her Rider by a free fall or choke him. Your so going to get it. she retorted, laughter teasing at the edge of her voice. She carried him for a few more minutes when she found what she was looking for; a small lake. She instantly began heading for it, knowing Ka would understand what she meant to do. In a few moments she was above the water. She sent Ka an image of her innocent smile...then opened her jaws and let him fall the fifteen feet into the refreshingly cool water.

His thought was cut off as Jia snatched him by his tunic and was replaced with a yelp of surprise. He curled into a ball as he saw that they were headed out the window. "Aye! What are you doing!" and about the time he asked the question, he saw the small lake, and felt Jia angle toward it. "Oh come on, how is that even fair!?" He asked in a whining voice. He saw the image of her innocent smile, and felt a sense of irony. He felt her let go and himself begin to fall. "Son of a bi-" The water wouldn't let him finish his curse. The water was cool, not cold, cool. After he went down a few feet, he swam back up and pop his head out of the water. "Haha, very funny." He said grinning. "Come on, why don't you join me? The water fell pretty good."

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia hovered until Ka popped back up. She laughed at his indignity. Her smile widened into a grin as he offered for her to join him, though she hesitated. Zeke had never taught her how to swim. She swallowed, then pushed herself forward with her wings at the same time than she pulled them in. She drew in a deep breath...and suddenly she was underwater. She paddled her feet like she'd seen her brother do, occasionally using her wings for extra speed. She twisted elegantly in a circle, slipping through the water like an eel. She looked up and found her Rider. She grinned and headed for him. She maneuvered underneath him carefully, not wanting him to puncture himself on her spikes. She let the trapped oxygen in her lungs lift her up, and felt her Rider's weight on her back. She drifted forward, using her tail as a rudder. It seems that swimming came naturally to dragons. Jia curled her neck around to eye her Rider affectionately. Hold on, dear one. she murmured. She gave him a moment to take a breath and a hold it, then gently eased under the surface, and into the world of water. The liquid was crystal clear, allowing both of them to see for yards in any direction. She twisted, glided, and curled herself into amazing forms, normally impossible to do on land. She wasn't exactly sure how long Ka could hold his breath, so she only waited for the burning sensation to touch him.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka twisted around as Jia dove into the water to avoid getting hit in the face by the wave she created. He looked around for her, and suddenly felt her under him, lifting him up. He held on and took a breath as she went under, once under, he looked around threw the clear water. He looked down to see how deep the water was and was surprised to see it wasn't that deep. Then something caught his eye. It was shining in the muddy bottom of the lake, part of it sticking up. He tapped Jia's side and pointed to what he saw.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia looked back at her Rider when he tapped her shoulder. She followed his pointing finger, squinting curiously as she caught sight of what he'd seen. She fluttered her wings gently, using them to push her body down toward the muddy bottom. She inspected the object without touching it, twisting her neck this way and that to get a different view. She reached forward and caged it carefully with her talons. She lifted up, pulling a good chunk of mud with it. Whatever it was gleamed softly within the cage of her claws. She beat her wings powerfully, sending them zooming to the surface. They broke out of the water and the gold-amethyst scrambled up onto the bank. She dropped her package and shook herself, sending glittering droplets in all directions. She leaned down to inspect what she had taken from the bottom of the lake.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka watched as Jia picked up the object and zoom to the surface. Once they broke the water, Ka inspected the object with Jia, cleaning off the mud. He pulled the shiny object out and revealed it to be a circle coin like object. It had a crown on one side and crossed swords on the other. It wasn't gold, it was more silver, but much shinier. "What do you think it is?" He asked turned the coin over.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia pondered the silver-ish coin, wondering where it could have come from. It was about the size of her pupil and an eighth of an inch thick. She touched it gingerly with the tip of her snout; the silver rippled, like disturbed water. As soon as she pulled away, the movement stopped. She shrugged her shoulders, curious but stumped. I don't know. I've never seen the like of it before. Perhaps Tyleek can tell you where it came from; silver is an earth related object. she suggested, trying to be helpful.

He turned so he was sitting sideways on Jia's back and slid into the water. He went under and looked down where he first saw the thing and swam to it. He started digging in the general area. After just a few digs he revealed a whole handful of the coins. He grabbed them and swam back up to Jia. "It's like a little treasure trove down there." He said, showing her the handful he had found.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia watched curiously as her Rider slid from her back into the water. He came back up with a handful of the same coins. She hunched her back so the saddlebags attached to the leather pad on the juncture of her neck and shoulders was clear of the water. Put them in there. I'll come down with you and help you dig. she said. Once he'd placed the coins inside the pouch, she slipped under water and swam down to the bed. She dug her claws into the mud and scraped, finding several more handfuls of the strange silver coins. She continued to paw around in the mud when her talon caught on something. She jerked her paw free. Whatever had hooked onto it came with. She studied the strange lump, then her eyes flew wide as bile rose in her throat; the tip of her claw was embedded in the eye socket of a skull. She shook it free and retreated a few feet, watching as the water-logged bundle slowly floated back to the water bed. She shivered, then cautiously approached. She warily inspected the skull; it wore a barely recognizable helm. She squinted, drying to discern the crest. Her jaw dropped open and her eyes nearly popped out of her head. She tugged on Ka's mind, calling him over.

He swam over to her. "Whats wrong?" He asked looking around in the water. He had made a Heaven Seal of wind on his tongue so he could breath under water.

She extended her neck down to nudge the skull with her snout. The helm rattled. She lit her eyes, beams of light penetrating the dark. The beams splashed against the crest on the helm. It was of a rearing dragon head, jaws open as if it were spitting fire. But in its open maw was, instead, a sword. The gold-amethyst shuffled uneasily. That is the crest of the Dragon Rider Order. Ella showed it to me once, through a memory. It must have come to rest here during the Fall. she said quietly, her voice greatly subdued. They must have been trying to reach a hideout, if these coins are any indication. she added.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia had twisted around to nod her agreement to Ka. She did not see the sockets of the skull begin to glow dull red. She spun around with a yelp, though it was muffled by water, when she felt something grasp her foreleg. She jerked away sharply, scrambling back. Her teal eyes watched, petrified, as the rest of the skeleton slowly pulled away from the muck. It connected with the skull and stood on wobbly legs. She didn't wait to see what it would do; she grabbed Ka and shot for the surface. She launched into the air and rose a hundred feet into the sky. She still had her Rider clutched to her chest in her paws. She positioned him in the crook of her foreleg so he could climb up her shoulder and settle into the saddle. She continually watched the surface of the lake, tensing at the tiniest ripple. Abruptly, with a great roar, an entire dragon appeared. Its body was a pure white skeleton, picked clean by bottom feeders. She knew it was impossible for a dragon to fly without their membrane, so this dragon must have been made by magic. The Rider she'd found was sitting on the dragons bony back where the saddle would normally be. Both its eyes and the dragons eyes glowed an eerie crimson red.

He didn't even have time to ask what was wrong, as he watched a bone dragon rise out of the water. He quickly climbed into Jia's saddle. "Fly!" He quickly strapped his legs in so Jia could fly as fast as need be.

My parents do. I have no idea how to use it. IC: Jia needed no prompting from Ka to flee from the skeleton dragon and its Rider. She spun in the air and swept away through the air. A roar echoed behind her, and she abruptly heard the dragon right on her tail; she swore she could feel its warm, moist breath on her scales. Holy smokes that thing was fast. She tried to jerk out of the way, but she wasn't fast enough. Razor sharp teeth met in her tail, bringing her to a sudden halt. She roared in pain. The gold-amethyst felt pressure, and the whip of air against her face told her she was being whirled around by the tail. Something ripped. When her tail was released, she beat her wings frantically to regain her sense of direction. She finally managed to right herself, in time to clash head on with the skeleton dragon. She wrinkled her lips back and snarled, baring her teeth. Time to put her training with Zeke to the test. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked behind them, and his heart skipped a beat. The bone dragon was right behind them. A spike of anger and pain shot threw him as it bit Jia's tail. As it spun around, the G-forces forced Ka to look back forward. Once It let Jia go, he had a sense of vertigo, and it took him a moment to figure out where he was. When Jia said to hold on, he melded their minds into one, this way she would have access to his entire energy and his entire knowledge of seals. "Jia, don't let it scare you, there's no way it can stand up to us..." He said fiercely.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia reveled in the full contact of Ka's mind. She knew he would manage to stay on, so she focused on the dragon. Her Rider's knowledge of Seals surged through her, boosting her confidence. The skeleton dragon snapped savagely at her throat, catching her with the tips of his fangs. She snarled with pain and retaliated, battering her wings and lashing out with her tail. It was difficult to fight an opponent that had no flesh to grip. Amongst all the writhing, the gold-amethyst managed to get herself on top. The dragon buried his talons into her belly, slicing deep furrows down the length of her stomach. She bit her tongue and locked her jaws around its neck, near the head. She held in the death grip as they plummeted. She roared through her teeth as pain erupted in her neck, just above her left shoulder. She glanced down in the corner of her eye and saw a sword, held by the skeleton Rider.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka watched threw Jia's eyes as she fought. He felt what she did; when the dragon cut her belly, he felt it. When the Dragons rider stabbed her, he felt it. He came back to his own body and spun aroun and looked at the rider. He drew his own sword and sliced at the rider's sword, cutting it in two. He pull the blade out of her shoulder and quickly healed it so it wouldn't impair her fighting. Holding out his hand, he made a seal around the bone skull of the rider and attempted to crush it. All the resulted was a dent in the helmet. A pit formed in Ka's stomach. "Jia! I think these things are protected form all kinda of magic, even mine!"

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia panicked at Ka's exclamation, but it quickly faded to cold, hard determination. Then we'll just have to kill them the old fashioned way. she retorted. She released the dragons neck and lunged for a wing. She latched on and pulled, dislocating the wing joint with a sick squelching noise. She spat the wing out of her mouth. Now the dragon only had one remaining wing. She released the dragon, letting it fall to the ground. Its muzzle lashed out abruptly. Jaws of iron clamped around the hollow of her throat, nearly completely biting her neck off. She roared out, her vision blurring from the intense pain the wound was causing and still radiating. She flung her body down and embedded her tail spike in its own neck, attempting to make it release her. She frantically beat her wings, but the weight of the skeleton dragon was too much. Get him off! I can't fly! she cried, trying again to sever something with her tail. The dragon adjusted his grip on her neck, taking her further into his jaws so it was harder for her to breath.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka fended off attacked from the dragons rider, barley able to keep up with it's strength and speed. He yelled in pain when the dragon bit into Jia neck. A panic over took him when Jia said she couldn't fly, and he realized it was harder for her to breath. His eyes glazed over and he had only one thought: Protect Jia. He unbuckled his legs and climbed around Jia's neck and on to the neck of the dragon. He held on with one hand and began hacking widely at the dragon's neck, cutting or breaking the bones that held it together.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia scrabbled wildly at the jaws of the dragon, trying frantically to loosen its hold. She vaguely felt Ka move from her back to the dragons neck, slicing and hacking. She felt the dragons maw release slightly, enough to let her breath freely. She clenched her teeth, knowing this was going to hurt badly....She wrenched her neck away, tearing large chunks of flesh from her throat. She roared with pain, but pushed it away. She pulled in her wings and dove desperately for Ka. She extended a foreleg down to him. Grab on! she shouted, her eyes wild with fright.

Re: Vengeance And Blood When he saw that Jia was free he stopped hacking at the dragon and just hung on. He grabbed he leg and held on like it was a ife line, becasue at that moment it was. He climbed up her leg as she flew, and he managed to get almost back into the saddle when he felt a white hot burn pierce his shoulder. He looked down and saw a bone that wasn't his own and that was sharpened, sticking threw his shoulder. He looked back and saw that the Rider now had a bow, and was readying another bone arrow. He pulled the arrow out of his shoulder and climbed the rest of the rest into the saddle. Once there he again strapped himself in and used healed most of Jia's neck wound, although he couldn't heal all of it right now. "Jia, don't try and fight them, just get us out of here." He said calmly.
