No body ever said that the weapon under the tree was a sword. It could be some thing more powerful. Mabey it is one of the objects that contains natural magic that were mentioned in Eldest.

Yes, but it doesn't have to be a physical weapon that you can swing at people. It could be magic, strength, knowledge etc. because those are all weapons too.

You may be on to something there. Orik is a smith and he and Rhunön got kind of chummy. So who knows if she will teach or direct Orik how to do swords? She learned her trade with a dwarf, so.....

she won't teach anyone else as it will interupt her smithing

but shes only doing that stuff for fun, she can't do the rider swords anymore becuase of her oath, only prob is Orik cna't sue magic, and there was magic involved in the swords.

yes, or knowledge, strength, magic, people's true names, lots of possibilities. It doesn't necessarily have to be something you can swing at people.

I think it could be a way to make Eragon think more logically. Realy he doesn't use much logic .

Maybe its more jewels to store energy in or something to protect Saphira's wings, because shes always injuring them

he could get a blue Battle Axe! or a neon pink lightsaber! he could, but he won't. dragon riders have swords that matchthere dragosn hue. so it will have to be a blue sword.

thats one thing many people think, and it would work, Broms drag was blue, Saph blue, but i think if it isn't Brom's sword sum1 made Eragon a new one.

The Menoa tree is a figure of legend; It's the oldest tree in the forest melded with an elderly elven woman who killed her adulterous young elven husband. It's a symbol of a relationship that was not meant to be (and oddly enough, is the place Eragon became a young elf who wants Arya, the elderly elven woman). Never has a weapon ever been heard of in its place in lore or legend. The only choices are that the weapon is not physical, was placed there only recently, or was put there long ago and then forgotten. Many people have various beliefs to what is under the roots of the Menoa tree, with references to Brom's sword, Vrael's sword, and even the first Dragon Rider Eragon's sword. Others believe it to be a magical (non-physical) weapon. Personally, I believe it to be the elf Eragon's sword, which was put below the Menoa when it was planted. Eragon was the foremost Rider, and knew much. I believe he prophesized the need for a sword, and planted it in a place he forsaw. The non-physical weapon will still come up when Eragon finally reaches the Vault of Souls. Once there, he will discover the name of the ancient language and finally defeat Galbatorix in an epic final battle.

Because that isn't possible. It says that in our years of spice and wine, BEFORE OUR WAR WITH THE DRAGONS... meaning that it isn't possible.

Maby someone had a permontation a long time before and saw Eragon needing the sword and finding it planted there, so he/she/whatever planted it there (maby even with the meanonan tree.)
