Well you may think what star wars has to do with eragon, but I believe there are many things.
Do these basic connection first.

Eragon = Luke (1)

They are both the sons of the enemy, but they both learn of there father in the second part.
They are both some kind of new hope.

Garrow = Luke's uncle

They both die to the hands of the ruler while (1) was not there

Galbatorix = emperor

We know little of them execpt that they are the crule rulers.

Brom = obiwon

Teach and guide (1) and both die in the middle of part one.

I have more parts to the theory that I will write later.

and Garrow is like lukes uncle who gets burnt in the begining of a new hope

It relates because It is a coming of age story.

well yea it's almost impossibletobe completely original but star wars and Eragon do have so much in comon (not saying it is identicle cause i like Eragon way more than star wars)

i like them both but its not fun to read starwars then see the movies. but when u read eragon and eldest its like wow i can really see it in my mind and see things that are fasinating and ur using ur imaginatation and u can paint ur own pic and others can relate.

I like Star Wars, But Eragon is so much better! and I agree, Star Wars is now so big that it's just not as cool.
And I was thinking that (to me at least) Obiwon seems a lot like Brom! I know, I'm probably crazy, but that's what I think.

The Inheritance Trilogy is a LOT like Star Wars. I have said that time and time again in various places. Eldest, I think, is even more like Star Wars than Eragon.

I like Star Wars better.

It's a common fantasy story pattern you see in a lot of things. (Eragon, Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR, ect.)

Eragon - character raised by someone other than parents

Brom - mentor who later leaves, dies, departes

Zar'roc, Gedwey, Saphira - mark that distinguishes character as "Chosen One"

Galbatorix - Villian

Arya - Somehow unatainable love interest

Star Wars and Eragon do parallel each other. It's the basic story of a young hero finding himself
and finding that he is no ordinary young man.

I am a huge Star 'wars fan, have been since ANH came out. It was based on classic architypes;
of course you have your hero, your mentor, a damsel in distress, your villians, and your side-
kicks.
It's fantasy. Both SW and Eragon takes us to worlds that we could never visit. It's a recipe of
endearing characters, enthralling adventures, and mystical worlds and creatures.

But, these stories do resemble each other. "There is nothing new under the sun". It's classic,
these types of stories have entertained us since the dawn of time. Compare them to the story
of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
