Alan
Name: - Alan
Age:- 26
Gender: - Male
Skills: Crossbow: When Alan was taken to Morzan's castle at a young age, he was trained to be a crossbowman. Alan worked hard to please his master, who had "rescued" him, and soon he became quite good, hitting any target set before him, even from the back of a running horse - a very hard thing to do with a crossbow.
Sword: Alan trained hard in swordsmanship, so that he could defend himself at a short range, unlike some of the other crossbowmen he was training with. Alan became quite good with the sword, although he would have a very hard time holding his own with the weakest elf, or Rider.
Magic: Alan is a fairly good spellcaster, although he is nowhere near as strong as an elf, or dragon riders. Alan uses his magic mostly for healing, and knows how to use very few attacks with his magic. Alan is also good at defending with his magic. Making wards, or protective spells takes surprisingly little energy from Alan, although that's not saying much since magic drains him more than it does most spellcasters.
Race: - Human
Hair: - Dark brown, almost black
Eyes: - Dark brown
Home Village: - Carvahall
Parents: - Long forgotten as his father died before his birth, and his mother died giving birth.
Siblings: - None
Character Personality: Alan is very protective of Galbatorix, and serves him willingly. If he hears anyone badmouthing his master, Alan becomes angry, and sometimes violent. Alan generally hates fighting, and wars, and views the Varden as troublemakers trying to destroy the Empire's peace. Alan usually tries to settle conflicts by talking first, and if that doesn't work, or if it's a battle, then Alan will fight hard, but avoid killing the one he is fighting. Alan is usually cheerful, although when he's fighting he becomes emotionless. Alan is kind, and is always willing to lend out a helping hand to those who need it. There is no evil in Alan's heart at all, but he refuses to think bad about Galbatorix, always coming up for an excuse to atrocious acts committed by his king. Alan shows deference to others - even to members of the Varden - and has very little pride in him. Alan is only angered easily when someone is speaking bad of Galbatorix, or Morzan. Otherwise he is normally able to keep his calm, and only wear a cold, hard look when most others would be really angry. Alan is not a loner, but neither is he a people person. He is good with children, and knows how to handle the feelings of other people rather well. He lives to serve Galbatorix, and the Empire, and will let no one get in the way. Alan is willing to put personal feelings aside if the hinder him from serving Galbatorix. Alan is so faithful to Galbatorix, that he would be willing to kill those closest to him without question, believing Galbatorix had a very good reason.
Character History: Alan's father was a hunter living in Carvahall - one of the few who dared to venture into the spine - and his mother was a young seamstress, and herbalist in training. One day Alan's mother waited excitedly for her husbands return from hunting. She was pregnant with their first child, and couldn't wait to tell him! A week passed slowly from his expected day of return... Two weeks... Three weeks... Finally a month later the hunter stumbled in, nearly dead of bear wounds. The woman quickly began caring for her husband, praying hard that he would recover. The man slowly began to get better, and one month later was fit enough to hunt again. The woman had been waiting for this day, and excitedly told her husband that she was pregnant. The hunter smiled. "Let's call him Alan." he said, sure that the child would be a son. The woman smiled. "Alan he is." she said. The couple embraced, and the man rode off into the Spine. A week later the hunter's horse came galloping in panic into the village, dragging the dead hunter behind him. The wounds were much worse than those of a bear this time - almost as if it were a wild dragon... The woman grieved her husbands death, but determined to live on for the sake of their child. The day finally came, and the woman gave birth to Alan. The labor was difficult, and the woman had lost a lot of blood. A few hours later she died, leaving her son in the care of Selena.
Selena raised Alan well for the first few years of his life, when Morzan showed up. When Selena left with him, Alan went along, knowing no one else in Carvahall would really accept him the way Selena did. Alan was fascinated by Morzan, and begged him to teach him magic. Morzan was amused by the very young child, and taught him as much as was possible for Alan to learn. When Alan had learned as much magic as was possible for him, Morzan asked if Alan would like to serve him. Alan was quick to agree, and began training to be Morzan's best fighter. Alan was around 11 -12 when Morzan was killed, and from that day on he swore to help destroy the Varden, and those who took the peace from the Empire. Alan went to Galbatorix, and swore to serve him willingly, in the ancient language, and he began training even harder. Alan became a good tactician in that time, and even reached the rank of General - which he gave up quickly when the chance came for him to serve in more effective ways. Alan grew to love the Empire as he aged, and to dislike those who fought against it. Alan wanted peace for all people in the world. Peace under Galbatorix - and that is what he decided to fight for.
Weapons: - Crossbow: Alan's crossbow has a crank, allowing him to reload it quickly. He is able to fire up to 45 bolts per minute with it on a good day. Alan doesn't go anywhere without his crossbow. It was a gift from Morzan. (Picture) Magic: Red Sword: Just any old short sword from anywhere.
Likes: - The Empire, serving Galbatorix, peace
Dislikes: - The Varden, war
Weakness / Fear: - Weakness: A lot of those. Alan is a very weak spellcaster compared to most, and is very vulnerable to others magic. Although Alan is good with the sword, he is nowhere near being a sword master, and still has many weakness regarding the sword. Fear: All Alan fears is not being able to serve Galbatorix good enough.
Animal Companions: - Hawk named Eclair. Eclair appears to be a normal hawk, although she can use her mind effectively. Alan uses her as a spy, and scout.
Character's Physical Description: Alan is six feet tall, well muscled and broad shouldered. He has short curly hair, slightly slanted cat shaped eyes, and small, slightly pointed ears. Alan has a set of three scars on the right side of his face. One going up, ans stopping a millimeter under his eye. The second starting at the corner of his mouth, crossing the first, and stopping near his ear. And the third going from about a centimeter underneath his right eye, to the opposite side of his left eye. Alan has long fingers - six on his right hand, and seven on his left - both of which enable him to be quicker with his crossbow loading, and firing. Alan normally wears an Empire soldier's uniform, with a long, heavy, crimson and black cloak.
Dreams for the Future: - To help defeat the Varden
Reason for Dreams: - Because he sees them as a threat to peace
Alignment/side: - Galbatorix
