Post The Mystery Behind the Saphire Theme
If you look back at Eragon and Eldest, u will see there is a bit of a saphire theme going on. There r so many things that have to do with saphires: Saphira, her name has the word saphire in it; Sphira 2, (Brom's dragon) also has the word sphire in it; Saphira is the color saphire blue; Saphira (Brom's dragon) probably was sphire colored too because of her name; the Isidar Mythrim means star saphire; Brom's old ring that Islanzadi gave to him as a symbol of their peace treaty is made of saphire. Do u see where I'm going here? Do u think it means something?

Not really. Paolini chose that name because of the stone yes. Brom's dragon had the same name but that was in order to support the plot. As for the big red saphire that is just a coincidence.

I'm just thinking that if it were something big then there would be more sapphires mentioned in the story.

I agree with that and cp mentions a lot of other gems stones. Morzan's sword in the movie might have a saphire but in the book it is decorated with a red ruby to match it's blade. If saphire was a theme it would have a saphire too.

Yeh and I think that the only reason that Brom's ring was a sapphire was to match his dragon's hide.

My dads a jeweler and he made me a golden snake ring with a head made out of green garnet. Once he comes back to the country, I'll ask if that's possible because sometimes stones can be different coulours but its very, very rare. The garnet isn't a yukky green either, it looks like an emerald

That's why it's really really rare but it is still possible. Also, we are reading a fantasy novel and the star sapphire could've been affected by magic
