“Die shadowSpawn!” howled Dain. The river elf ranger rolled, notched an arrow, jumped up and shot a bloodreaver in the throat. His companion, half-sister human Tamana darted passed him, slashing down a bloodreaver in the hamstring. Dain shot over Tamana’s shoulder as she slashed down a bloodreaver. Tamana cartwheeled away, panting, the assault wearing them down.
“Vanterin, damnit help us!” Dain whispered, shooting two arrows out from a tree. Tamana surprised a bloodreaver by tripping as it came to her tree, then impaled the other one charging. Yelling came, maybe help.

Avrion started to run, they had tracked the bloodreavers to sounds of battle on the very edge of the Vanterin. His worn boots sped across the ground, Avrion dropped his sword low to his side. A red bloodreaver burst from the forest, hand axe in hand. Vulnerable at his side, Avrion nimbly turned, lashing out with his trusty sword. The bloodreaver blocked most of the blow with its axe, but Avrion worked his blade up to the bloodreaver’s hand, slashing it open. The bloodreaver jumped back, licking its wound. Avrion prepared for the next attack of the bloodreaver as Princess Elyiia ran past him, sword out.

Thanis of Yousta Grove darted across the battlefield, twin swords drawn. The wood elf prince vaulted over a fallen bloodreaver and slashed its companion’s heart out. Twisting around, the elf warrior parried a blow from a spear, then cut off the spearhead and part of a shield. The river elf was already here, shooting a bloodreaver that was in a tree, preparing to rain down death. Thanis admired the skill of the shot and turned away to battle. Elyiia played the role of the divine healer, healing her sister from a cut. A bloodreaver came and she slashed it down like a training dummy back in the White Temple. An angry howl burst across the field of battle.
“Since when did last a troll enter the Vanterin?” asked Elyiia.

hey, that was pretty good, but what aobut doing 'another bloodreaver' sumtimes indstead of a bloodreaver all the time. just suggestines.

that particular phrase didnt really sound repetitive anyhow.... and dawn warrior could u tell me how you got ideas for names? i'm collecting names for a story i may be writing and any names i make up sound dumb, but i cant find any elsewhere.

Sometimes I just seem to make a word with random letters, I decide on the first letter and then the rest seems to come easily. Also I use other languages and part bits of words that are part of a charcterstic of the charcter.

Skol was walking in the woods like all elves he enjoyed nature, he bent down and picked up a fallen limb from one of the great pine trees of his mountain home. He was a highland elf but he was not born in the country of his kin, his families along with others were exiled for trying to kill the queen.
Sitting under one of the largest pine trees, Skol used his knife to cut the wood he made a spear. He was interrupted from his peace and quite by the sound of hooves and mailed feet marching down the road. Skol crept to the side of the road and hid himself behind some of the underbrush.
They wore no emblem of any of the three kingdoms. “They are mercenaries” he said to himself. Skol ran for his village to warn them of the oncoming soldiers.
Even before he walked in to the tavern where his mother worked he heard “Skol where have you been?”
“Just out for a walk.” He said as he walked threw the doors, “I saw some soldier there coming right for the village.” His mothers face went dark. She called for Arye, she gave him a message and told him to go and find her husband, the leader of he militia.
By the time the all of the militia was rounded up the soldiers were on the out skirts of the town. “What do you want?” asked Retrs (the leader of the militia, and Skol’s father) as he crossed his arms over his chest.
The leader of the mercenaries was a short man with a long face set with one dark brown almost black eye, “Well me and dis sojers wants to be taken yall with us” he said with a accent that was so thick Retrs could barley understand.
They are salvers thought Retrs, and then gave a small nod. The hidden archers let loose there arrows and killed some of the soldiers.
Before Ratrs could uncross his arms he had a blade in his stomach, other elves were down leaving only a few of them left they still fought a hard as they could. Skol was hiding in the woods. “You have to fight” he said to him self, he griped his wooden spear so hard his knuckles turned white.
Skol climbed a tree, when a horseman rode under him he dropped down and killed the man. Riding strait for the enemies. A soldier was coming hard at Skol, and he ducked under his lance and spitted the man the throat, above his gorget. Another rider cut at him and missed, Skol slashed also going wide.
Then the first wave was over, he saw another wave coming at him. The riders thundered toward him he growled ready for another fight.
Skol pulled at his horse’s reins, as the animal screamed and reared. Skol slide of his back as his mount fell thrashing the ground, a crossbow bolt in its throat, then another between its ribs
A crossbow man coming at him, long double bladed dagger held low, Skol parried, and ran him threw, as he felt another bolt fly by his face.
A dismounted man was coming at him, Two-handed sword up. Skol went to his knees, drove what was left of his spear into the man guts under his breastplate.
Some thing smashed into the back of his head, he went flat, the world spinning.

With the battle over the soldiers that were still alive went from house to house, finding and enslaving the people.
One of the soldiers looked to his leader “What do we do with this one?” he asked nudging Skols unconscious body with his foot.
“Throw him into he wagon, he will fetch a high price on the blocks.” The leader said as the big man tossed Skols body into the wagon.

hows about in stead of soldier, soldiers? "...in the woods, like all elves..." how about chagne that part to that? add sum commas, there are sum places were i think there should be commas. i'll reread it and tell you the rest, but pretty good.

Hey. I posted my story (What I have done so far) In the fiction area. I would like it if people would read it.

all of it? mine is going to have 50 chapters a book, and theres going to be a special thing about 5, hense 50 chapters a book and it will be a trilogy. maybe set in different times. past present and future.

this is my second ever poem.

I've written two poor excuses for science fiction and fantasy way back three years ago, then I didn't have the pleasure of a printer so I wrote two books both 109 and 126 pages on notebook paper...ever had writers cramp???...

actually, I enjoyed it alot more. You can tell alot about a person when writing that, and you learn alot about yourself. You actually mean what you write. The only down thing was the most pages I could ever write were 10 if I strained myself because believe me IT HURT!! My pinky is still crooked from it, but so are all my other fingers.

i wrote a few pretty short books. they were not very good

The man looked around. Carefully he crept toward the door at the end of the hall. He froze suddenly, someone was coming. He slipped into the shadows and drew his sword. It was a beautiful, yet deadly, weapon. Three feet in length it had perfect balance. Though slender it was stronger than any human made weapon. The blue-silver steel was of the finest make and shimmered mysteriously in the dim light. The handle was silver and gold, the jewels inlaid in it were the finest from the mines.

The approaching person came into view and the man relaxed. It was just an old maid. She passed without noticing him. When she had turned the corner, the man stepped out of the shadows and continued down the hall.

He reached the door and pushed it open. Inside the room was richly decorated. He walked in and looked around. He heard a sound behind a curtain in the room and from behind it emerged the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She had golden hair, midnight blue eyes, and cherry red lips. She was wearing a white robe over a wine red nightgown. In the bright light of the fire you could tell she was with child.

She looked at him with wide eyes, though they were slowly narrowing in anger and fear. She wasn't short but she had to look up to see his face. He smiled, showing even white teeth, but she didn't smile back. On the contrary she glared at him rather fiercely. " You know that if I had wanted you dead I could have had you ambushed along that corridor," she scolded.

" Yes, but I had to see you. It's true then, what your letter said?," he asked, nodding at her swollen belly.

" Aye. The Queen of Talgon is pregnant with an elf's child. Odder still, both still have their heads and are looking at each other from across the same room.," her expression softened.

Stupid I know. If anyone has any suggestions about it I'm willing to take them..

In the second book of my series I'm on the 175 mark. Also I got in the top 25 in a writing contest I entered into.

I've written quite a lot of stories, the longest of which was about thirty pages. I'm starting on another one right now that doesn't really have a title yet. It's about a mute boy who is always teased and stuff in school because of it and has a terrible life. He always has this dream about getting rejected and wakes up sweating and shaking. But then he is required to start an instrument in middle school and he starts playing the cello. He gets really good then he has the dream again, and this time, he has his cello, and he plays it. Then he gets accepted, so he wakes up. Here's the last lines:

He woke up. But this time, he wasn't sweating or shaking. He was crying. Why? Because he had been accepted.

So that's the outline. What do you guys think?

Well I am going to get it published when it is finished. Hopefully it will be the next Eragon/Harry Potter/Lord of the rings type book. I want it to be so badly.

Personally, I'm buying it the day it comes out and I'm going to sit and read it right there in the bookstore. I can't wait-it's so awesome that all these people can write so well...and you seem like a really cool person. Then, when it's like the most famous book in the world, I'll tell everyone I'd talked to you and they'll all be like, "WOW!" Go for it!

I wrote 2 books (one had 178 pages, other over 250 and I haven't finished it) and both were deleted when we had to fix computer. Right now I'm writing more ideas than books.

Best thing about having Shade shorlisted is that Shade is put into an anthology called Hatchlings.

I have only written a few short stories but never a book. I don't think I could ever write a decent book or something close to one. I like my writing and all I just have never gotten motivated enough to write a whole book.

I never was motivated...I joust did it...and when my stories were deleted...I wasn't mad (o.k. I was a bit) but mostley I was sad. Like a part of me was deleted and not a document...after a while it's like story becomes a part of your world...Once I made a character based on my schoolmate...and in school I called her by the name of character and not at her real name

I was thinking, if you're working on the title theme of colours, you've got green blue and red. Wouldn't it be better if they were all jewels instead of 2 jewels and 1 colour? You could have something like emerald, sapphire and ruby instead of crimson. Just a suggestion.

I know what you are saying Firetongue, a lot of readers will think the same thing, but there is something to do with crimson and the other two jewel colors. As soon as they have been read you should get the point.

I thought a lot about it and then I had a brilliant idea on it. You'll just have to wait until it is published.

Erais...I think might know why you want crimson and not ruby...crimson's used often to describe blood. Just a thought.

Just a thought...you know how a lot of authors base the main characters on themselves or someone they know? Are any of you making main characters like yourself or someone you know? I'm not sure how it would work...I don't know if I want the world to know exactly who I am...but if anyone has any comments I'd be glad to hear them.

I like to make characters completely different to me. I don't know why- just a nice change.

I'm writing a book. Actually I'm writing eight! I have five going right now. Of course it's about Dragons. But to make it easier I draw inspiration from everything! Last night I saw Flicka and it gave me inspiration, too!
I also use my life expierences, senerious from other books and my DREAMS and my NIGHTMARES. So my books are going well. I will get them published no matter what it takes. They are my prodijies. I love writing fiction because you can do whatever you want!
