IC; As Paconio approached the giant beor mountains, he heard a sound amoung the leaves. Drawing Leafblade, he quickly examined the area from witch he heard the sound, only to find that it was just a squirel burrying some food for the winter.

Suddenly, from behind he heard the sound of a sword being unsheathead he whipped around, to see several of the empires best spellcasters. It's a trap! he shouted in his head.

Skylar had been heading in the direction of the Hadrac Desert, his eyes closed. He'd wandered this path so many times, he didn't need his sight to move. However, the sharp sound of a sword being drawn from upahead got his attention. He oppened his eyes and placed a hand on Lunaea, ready to strike. Once he got close enough, hiding behind the thick trees, he got a glimpse of eight people. Several he could tell by their uniform, the other was a stranger. Skylar drew his sword and approached, "I really didn't feel like killing today.."

Skylar was already grappling with one of the magician's minds. "I'm already helping you, now help yourself.. I can't take all of them!" Even as he said this, Skylar could feel two other magicians creeping into his head, and he went on the defensive, blocking out the other consciences. He wished it didn't take his complete focus to defend himself, otherwise he could draw Lunaea and cut them down. He grunted and kept up his defensive tactics.

Skylar didn't respond, he was too busy with the magicians. "Sword.. cut.. them.." He managed to mutter through gritted teeth. The magicians were already starting to break down the walls of his mind, and he had to drain himself to keep defended.

Skylar let out an audiable sigh, three of the probing minds disappearing. He built himself up again, and started to fight the remaining magicians back with his mind. He knew there was no way he would be able to fight one and break his mind while the others probed him, but he could push them to the limit of his own mind. Once he did that, he could speak a little easier. "Keep stabbing them.." He muttered, but he didn't see the posistion Paconio was in.

Skylar used the remaining magicians distraction to his advantage. He quickly took over one magician, and broke his mind, not bothering with any sort of elaborate tactic. Once that was done, he moved forward and stabbed the other magician with Lunaea. Once he had done that, he quickly built up the wall around his mind once more, then looked around for any remaining enemies.

"I think that was the last one" Paconio said so softly it was almost unhearable. Paconio was not as tired as he looked, but he was rather sad that he had to kill so many people for his own survival. "As a token of gratitude, I grant you my services" Paconio said. "If there is anything you need, just tell me and consider it done" Paconio said. Paconio curled up around a fire he had built, and thought over what had just happened.

Skylar went and sat down by the fire, across from Paconio. "You killed them because you had to.. They wanted to kill you if for no other reason gold." He reached into his cloak and pulled out a skin of dwarven ale. He passed it over to Paconio, "Here, drink that."

"I suppose you have a point there" Paconio replied. Paconio took a few sips from the ale. It eased some of his aching limbs. He passed it back to Skylar. "Thank you" he said quietly. "I have been traveling alone for the past twenty years, fighting the empire where I can" Paconio explained. Paconio listened to the sound of the fire cackling and the crickets chriping. "So, what brings you to these parts?" Paconio asked to pass the time.

"The dwarven ale, my friend.. It's the strongest of them all." Skylar put the skin of ale back in his pack and brought out some bread. "Hungry?" He broke it in half and offered one end to Paconio. THe other end he tore a large chunk out of and began to chew. "Fighting like that is exhausting.."
