I am surprised on the selection of these two cast members.

Galbatorix - Never actually appears in the first book - nor in the second - so why have an actor. I feel the director could have worked around this and never have shown him. This would have built suspense in the movies for when he will need to make an appearance.

Arya - multiple times she is referred to having long black hair. The actress and the pictures from the promotional fox trailer show here with medium length brown hair. Nothing like the book depicts.

Exactly, I have said exactly the same thing in other topics! But, they could show Galby when Murtagh is explaining who he is, you know, I met Galby blah blah blah.

or it could be when Brom tells storys about him

that and it will show a seen when Galbatorix is talking to durza before he questions Eragon.

Remember Murtagh tells about when he was with galboratrix well there probably going to renact that

i am an EXTREMELY big fan of the eragon and eldest books and have read both of them more than 10 times. this is why i couldnt HELP but notice that there were some huge problems wth the casting.
a) Arya's character does not go on for longer than 2 chapters before they mention something about her LONG, DARK, WAVY HAIR. no offence, but miss Guillory has neither. she will need to dye it, curl it and get hair extensions before i even think of accepting her as an Arya.
b) Arya is the princess of the elves and Nasuada's (leader of the Varden) favourite and strongest supporter. she is not typically feminine, she is strong and independant and is one of the strongest magical beings in Alagaesia. sienna guillory does not seem to me to be either of those things and because of this, i do not think, how ever good at acting she is, she will be able to pull this character off.
all eragon fans that i have met and spoken to agree with me on these fronts. Sorry Sienna! you are very pretty but just NOT Arya!

If you've seen any book made into a movie (Harry Potter, Narnia) they always take creative liberties to draw in people who didn't necessarily read the books. John Malkovich (as the King) will be a big draw. He's a really respected actor.

I agree about the actress for Arya and some of the set pictures I have seen online - she does not have black hair. Maybe it had to do with filming? Maybe it 'washed' her out too much?

In the Eldest forum I asked about what creative license Christopher was able to keep when he sold the film rights of Eragon. First time authors are notoriously left out of the script making details - mostly because - they are first time authors.

It may be he sold the script and one of the limitations were he did not get to have creative say. So they went ahead and added/changed/modified his script to make it 'audience-friendly'.

Just some thoughts. I'm more excited about what they will do with Saphira. The technology they now have, they have the ability to make her so life like!!

Firetongue, galby is at least a century old, more than likely older. Then there's the fact that he was in an Urgal attack. That's where, of course, his first dragon was killed. Is there anyone else wondering what galby's first dragon was like???

Ok so I'm not crazy (thats to be disputed). Sienna Guillory is NOT Arya. Eragon needs to have brown hair and not be so... clean looking.
