~Destiny~
(Tell me what you think of it, i'll be posting a new page or two each week.)
Introduction
Darkness fell upon the small town of Malensia, named after a fairy tale captain that came from an unknown world, but this is a different part of our story. It was ten past two in the morning as Lunesca stepped out from the moss covered cave along Malensia’s coast. Tall as she was for her age, Lunesca was only half the height she would become in her later elven years.
In her skinny but strong arms, she seemed to be carrying a large squirming lump. With terror in her eyes but a soft expression on her pale face, Lunesca ran quickly and gracefully along the soft sanded beach towards the slumbering town.
She ran faster as she passed each house, sensing danger even though she seemed not to be followed.
Finally, Lunesca swiftly leapt over a small gate in front of a small, pale blue home. In her heart she knew this was the right one for she had been here many times before.
Feeling more secure, Lunesca unfolded a corner of the red silk blanket she had been carrying and revealed a tiny newborn baby. Short, wispy black silk-like hair lay on its head and its calm ice blue eyes stared up into Lunesca’s emerald green ones. Lunesca was saddened that she had to give away the child she long waited for, but it was for the better.
Lunesca looked up from the baby to check she had not been followed or was being watched, but nothing stirred or made a sound except the faint whistle of the warm wind. Positive no one was there, she looked back at the baby. With one of her long, elegant fingers, Lunesca touched the middle of the baby’s soft, smooth skin. Lunesca closed her eyes, whispering ancient elven words. There was a brilliant clash of slivery white light that had surrendered all darkness for only moments. Then, just as suddenly as the light came, it disappeared leaving the town in total darkness once more.
Lunesca opened her eyes and removed her finger from the child, revealing the elven star where her finger had been.
“This, my child,” Lunesca smoothly said in her deep, sweet voice, “will protect you from all harm that should ever come to you and shall one day help you when you return to our home to fulfill your destiny.”
And with one last look deep into the child's glimmering eyes, Lunesca set the baby in front of the door.
After jumping over the fence, she turned towards the house again and looked back at the tiny child in front of the wooden door.
“I promise I will one day be back for you little one. I promise.” said Lunesca as she started to run towards the beach. And never looking back, tears started to run down her face as she whispered, “I promise my little princess. Surreen.”
