this author wrote dragonriders of Pern I think, but I'm reading another book she has written called Nimisha's Ship. They are interesting to read, but very different, almost more sci-fi than fantasy, with the book i'm reading anyways

Iv heard of them before, but never read them. They are supposed to be okay, but dont scratch the inheritance trilogy

I read this short story by her and it was about the dragon riders of pern but i can't find the book

My fav rider in those books is K'van. I read how he Impressed Heth and I was impressed. I can't remember, what's the name of the girl rider in charge of Benden Weyr again?

Could it be Lessa? She was from Ruatha Hold but a dirt bag called Fax took over the hold after killing all her bloodline.She was then taken to Benden Weyr where she impressed a golden queen dragon.
I have read almost all of her books on the series. Right now I'm reading the Renegades of Pern. I already have Dragonsblood which was written by her son Todd McCaffey. He's supposed to be releasing another one this week. They are all about the Dragonriders of Pern.

I met K'van in her short stories book, "A Gift of Dragons" and I simply loved it. The story is titles "The smallest Dragonboy" and I loved it. Actually that was the first I ever read from her. In the renegades of Pern she tells the story of Thella and Aramina; also a short story in this book. So, as you can see I am really excited about it. I've been browsing in the bookstore looking for what next to read that may be related with GOOD dragons and I am a t a lost. Any suggestions?

Dragonquest was good. It's by Anne McCaffery. You wouldn't happen to know the name of that book that's supposed to be coming out, the one by Todd McCaffery?

I can't remember but I'll tell you in a minute. I have a way to look it up. If you can try to read Dragonsquest. That's the one that explains how Pern was developed and came to be.

I found it ; it's titled Dragon's Fire, and today was the release date.

Anne McCaffery already wrote a book like that. Only, it explained how they created the dragons and the first years of the colonists on Pern.

I read all of the ones my school library had in stock before I stumbled upon that one. I made a topic about Lessa and Ramoth, I had a question and you might be able to answer it.. The first word in the title is Ramoth. So it should be pretty easy to find.

Why did Lessa go back in time in the first place? If she had left them there, wouldn't they have been there without her having to go back in time? Something happened that made Lessa go back in the first place. Something that made sure she had to go back. We never found out what. If they had been left there, surely their ancestors would have been there to run the Weyrs.

There had been no thread fall for a period of 250 yrs and the dragons had diminished in amount. So there were not enough dragons to fight the thread and protect the vast areas of vegetation. She went back in time to bring the Oldtimers to her time, (five full wyers with their dragons) in order for them to help and fight the thread that was due to fall on Pern.

No, you misunderstand me. Going back in time creates a circle in the period of time that you went back in time from and the time you went to. The circle repeats itself, it's never-ending. Something caused her to go back in time at the very beginning of that circle, something other than a declining dragon population. Something eradicated those five Weyrs entirely. That's what I want to know, what did it?

I mean that each time a person goes back in time (if it were possible) they would create a circle of time between the two times that were mixed. The past time would have to catch up with the present time and the present time for that would mean the person would go back in time again. It's a circle of time, hard to explain, and I'm confused myself. And I'm talking about one specific time, when she went to go get the Oldtimers. I think I'll log off, I'm sleepy, later. Gotta check my pm's and some other stuff first though.

I honestly don't recall that specific detail. I do know that the dragonriders she brought up from the past to the her present time, stayed in the present. I cannot remember why they (the Oldtimers) decided to stay at Lessa's time.

Can't remember what? The Oldtimers decided to stay so they could help Benden Weyr fight the Thread. My little "Circle In Time Theory" is just that, a theory I've come up with over the years.

I haven't read that one yet. I'll look for it when school starts back up (Summer vacation). From what I saw of the high school library it's pretty big so it might have it there. The public library here doesn't have any Anne McCaffery books. I checked. If the high school doesn't have any, I don't know what I'll do.

No, I haven't read that one. I read the little summary on the back of the book, and I can't remember what exactly it said, but it made me so sad I couldn't read it.
