"the land" could mean the empire, it could mean ellesmera, or for all we know he leaves with the elves, or in pursuit of or insanity caused by Arya. But I can't see him leaving.. even though we've already seen a skeleton-key-like ending (the inevitable evil wins against the good you've been rooting for the whole time) in Eldest, I hope [Empire] gets a good, or at least partially good ending. _________________ The Mourning Sage.
