OOC: This is open to anyone that would like to join. I have a small heist set out for one of my characters, Zain, but I may add Natsu into the story later on. Anyone else can implement a plot of their own if they want.

Zain is planning to infiltrate Galbatorix's main library using a high-ranking official soldier by controlling his body(see Zain's bio for more information on his ability), and steal scrolls of the Arcane Arts.


IC:

Zain stood on a hill, facing the black death-trap known as Uru'baen. Are you sure you want to go in alone? Syrin asked. I'm not entirely sure this is a good idea at all.

Zain felt slightly troubled at Syrin's concern. Syrin has never shown distress for a plan that would help them achieve more power. We need more power, right? I have enough energy set aside to teleport any items we obtain, and as long as I pick a high enough ranking official, no one will question his movement.

Except for Galbatorix himself, Syrin replied.

If he does, it won't matter. It won't be me actually doing the heist, so even if I get caught, I can easily escape.[/i]

If you get caught, I'm going in there myself and bringing you back, Syrin said.

Ok, then I won't get caught. Zain bent the light around him to make himself invisible, and started walking slowly towards Uru'baen, ready to put his plan into action.

OOC: D'you have room for a beginner with really short posts...? I'm still trying to get used to this style of roleplay. (I dunno if you need the character profile...viewtopic.php?f=55&t=9738)

OOC: Of course. I'm still a little new to role-playing, and there isn't a greater way to learn than experience, so I don't mind at all.

OOC: Awesome, thanks! Is there a location it would be convenient for me to start at, or can I just start with Zain?

OOC: You can start wherever you want, but since your character is against the Empire, she would probably have to meet up with Zain before he infiltrates Uru'baen.

But Zain isn't going to be the only character of mine I implement into the story. I might use them both of my other characters, but I will definitely use at least one more. I'll add more characters in after my latest bio is accepted. I'm also going to see if a couple people I know want to join this. I kinda forgot about it the day after I made it lol.

OOC: Ah, okay. *beat* Lol! I tend to forget about things easily too. *deep breath* Okay, wish me luck. *dives in* Hopefully my posts will get longer as more eventful things happen.

Gazing at the far horizon, Raine saw a shape silhouetted against the sky. Curious, she approached the figure. Calyniel followed close behind on padded feet, her tail waving gracefully in the air.

OOC: I'm sure they will. It gets easier quickly. And yeah, having the links to your bios in your signature is quite helpful indeed. If you need help making it, I'll help. It took me several tried to get it right the first time, as it's kinda complicated if you want to add colors.

Yeah sure. You're experienced with RPGs, so I'm glad that you'd want to join. You can add however many characters you want, because I'm going to add probably my other two characters, Natsu/Erza, and Lakris/Sylverta. Lakris and Sylverta are evil as well, so maybe they can meet up with Zalda.


IC:

Zain started walking towards Uru'baen, invisible. Zain, someone has already seen you, Syrin said annoyedly.

What! Already? Who?

A female. She caught a glimpse of you right before you activated the invisibility spell. Well, she might have seen me instead, but either way, she's walking this way.

Man... Zain released the invisibility spell, and turned towards the figure walking towards where he once was. He felt a small bit of surprise course through him as he noticed a black cat trotting behind her. Attempting to give off a friendly air, Zain said, "Hello! My name is Zain, and if you don't mind me asking, who are you? By the way, black cats are generally bad luck in these parts, as a sort of fun fact."

OOC: Yeah, I tried several codes to get it to look like yours, but I couldn't get it...how do I customize the text that's shown?

IC:

Raine jumped as a strange person appeared in front of her. Somewhat reassured by his tone when he spoke, she said, "Hello, nice to meet you Zain. My name is Raine, and this is Calyniel. Black cats may be bad luck normally, but she's my lucky charm." Calyniel cautiously approached the creature beside Zain, tail still waving slightly. Raine glanced at Calyniel, then back to Zain. "What are you doing here?" she asked.

OOC: Ah, thank you! And now sadly, I'm getting kicked off my computer, so see you two tomorrow!

OOC: Alright, we are about a mile away from Uru'baen.

IC:

Syrin snorted with amusement as the black cat walked towards him. Zain's expression grew weary, "I'm here on private business. All I shall say about it is that you shouldn't be surprised if a great riot uprises in Uru'baen." Zain turned around, "However, you seem trustworthy. I am planning a heist of powerful magical scrolls in Uru'baen...Spells that are valued greatly by Galbatorix himself. This, is what I am doing here."

Zain tilted his head to look at Raine, "Now, what are you doing here?"

Calyniel hesitantly stretched her head out and sniffed the black dragon's foot. Raine listened with interest to Zain's explanation. "I was on my way to Bullridge when I saw you two," she replied. "You are also against the Empire, I take it?"

Syrin snorted a black plume of smoke towards the black cat, Calyniel. "I'm not really with or against anyone. However, I don't exactly agree with Galbatorix's plan to 'restore the Riders', when he's the one to destroyed their Order in the first place. The Riders may have been corrupt, but that's no reason to kill them all.

"Now, I need to do this heist quickly, so I must hurry. It shall be dark soon," Zain said.

Calyniel hissed and jumped back, her fur on end. "Do you need any help?" asked Raine. "I know the lay of the land fairly well, having traveled a lot. And I'm happy to do anything against Galbatorix."

"Sure, if you want you can do some of your own damage against Galbatorix as well. Taking some powerful scrolls he has undoubtedly already read won't do too much against him though. However, I'm going to get inside Galbatorix's castle indirectly. I shall take full control over one of his high-ranking soldiers, and use him to enter the castle. Less would stand against him, and with my ability, I can stay in a safer area while the soldier takes the scrolls, and teleports them to a safe point outside of the city. Of course, I'm going to have to be the one to do the teleporting, but I'm going to have to kill the soldier once I'm done with him. If Galbatorix knew that I had taken control over one of his soldiers, security would tighten, and I would most likely not be able to steal anything from Galbatorix's castle ever again.

"Now, let's go," Zain said finally.

Raine listened to the long plan with some bewilderment. "What could I do that would be most helpful to you?" she asked after a few moments of processing his reply. "A distraction or something?"

"A distraction would be fine, but you can't do it in the center of Uru'baen, or you most likely wouldn't make it out. Since you can't do it in the center of Uru'baen, it has to be a large enough distracton to where it would attract guards from the center. In the mass confusion, I will take over a guard and use him to enter the castle. It won't be hard to find a high-ranking official. Now, do you understand the plan?" Uru'baen was a little more than half a mile away as they got closer, so Zain needed to make sure she was clear on everything. "If you have any questions, now would be a good time to ask them."

Raine forced her mind to slow down and clearly understand Zain's words. "Yes, I understand that," she said. "I'll set a guard on fire or something, that should bring them. How much time do you need?" Raine looked over at the looming city in front of them as they approached.

"Eleven or twelve minutes would be enough, I assume. I'll be using my own energy to accelerate the guard's speed, and I'll put anyone I see in the castle to sleep, and search their minds for any directions to the library. The guard I take over will probably know, but if he doesn't, I'll just search the soldier's minds as I go on."

"Perfect." Raine hesitated a moment. "What should I do if you don't come back?"

"I doubt that will be the case, as I'm not going to be the one actually infiltrating the castle of Uru'baen. However, if something happens to me, then run. As a last resort, I'll harvest enough energy from my surroundings and ring to teleport my self maybe ten miles away from the city." They were about a quarter of a mile away from Uru'baen, but their invisible visages would easily allow them to enter the city.

"Now, this is going to be hard due to his size but I'm going to make Syrin invisible as well, and then he shall drop us off over the maybe ten yards down to any house. You will then head off and do the distraction, and while the guards are in a panic, I shall take over a higher official, and infiltrate the castle as him." Zain muttered a few words, and felt his legs shake. Doing an invisibility spell, even though he was only bending the light around Syrin, on a dragon as big and far away as he was was taxing. Syrin landed, invisible, in front of Zain and Raine. "Sense his mental presence, and you'll know where he is," Zain said, mounting Syrin, Raine following behind. "Your cat, what shall we do with him?"

OOC:

Tell me if flying into Uru'baen invisible ruins any plans you may have had about making an entrance, crazydragongirl.

Raine blinked as Syrin disappeared before her eyes, and watched in mild disbelief as Zain seemed to be sitting in midair. She followed suit, staring down at the ground a ways down from her. Calyniel padded forward again, sniffing at Syrin's invisible shape.

"We'll have to leave her...just as a precaution in case she makes too much noise," Raine muttered. "Hide until we get back," she said to the sleek black cat. Calyniel blinked, then ran off. "Now we can go," said Raine. "Are you alright? I have some food in my pack if you need any."

"Ok, she's only a cat, so she won't attract attention, I suppose. And I'm alright, thanks, I had just felt a little drained for a few seconds. I had relied on my own energy, and not my store, so it was a little harder, especially to use magic on someone as large as Syrin." With that, Syrin hunched down as if he was about to pounce, and he leaped into the air, his wings tilting to adjust to the wind. They soundlessly flew towards the dark city of Uru'baen.

"Okay, then." Raine started and swayed slightly as Syrin took to the air, then grinned as she realized that she was flying for the first time in her life. "This is amazing!" she muttered.

"Aye, it is very exciting, but don't ride bareback unless you have no other choice. The dragon's scales would skin your legs badly," Zain replied. In a little over a minute, they flew over the city of Uru'baen. Jump! Zain yelled inside of Raine's mind, and then he hopped off of Syrin. He slowed his descent as he came within forty feet of a house under him. He landed softly, and waited for Raine."

Lakris stood outside the gate of Uru'baen, staring at a guard coldly. "I gotta get yur name an' purpse 'fore I let you 'n here," the guard repeated. He was obviously drunk.

Idiotic humans... "And I'm telling you that I dropped my original name long ago, and you aren't important enough to know any more about me than what you can tell by looking," Lakris said calmly.

"Look, you ain't gotta make mor' trouble than ther' already is," the guard said soberly.

A minute later, Lakris walked into Uru'baen. After enough trouble, he had invaded the guard's mind and manipulated it. After enough meddling, a magician would be able to notice what he had done, but he didn't care. He had needed supplies, and some simple-minded, drunk guard wasn't going to stand in his way.

IC: Lakris froze, and looked up towards the sky. There was a disturbance in the wind currents. It felt like something huge was therre, yet at the same time, not. Sylverta, there's something, or someone, in the air, and they've tried to mask their presence. You cannot go check without attracting attention, so I shall cast a spell of invisibility over myself and check on it. Without waiting for a reply, Lakris discreetly looked around to make sure no one was looking, and cast the spell. He kicked off the ground silently, bending the air currents to his will, and flew up towards the area which the disturbance had come from. As he got closer, he felt a draft of wind to his right, and another a little later than that. He concentrated even harder, and could make out the forms, judging by the wind currents and what directions they stopped and formed in. There was a dragon, and two others.

Sensing Lakris's position, Sylverta noted, There's something odd going on currently. Someone wants to sneak into Uru'baen unnoticed. Is this city always so mysterious?

Either way, they haven't fooled me. However, doing something about it now would only cause a distraction, and attract attention towards myself. Lakris looked upwards into the sky where Sylverta was, looking more like a bird from this distance. I'll cast a spell of invisibility over you, and once I do, meet the dragon that flies out of Uru'baen, intercept him, and incapacitate him quickly. I'll deal with the two people here. Once Sylverta's form had disappeared, Lakris descended down upon Uru'baen, and began to formulate his plan.

OOC: Lakris is very skilled with wind, and thus can control wind currents. He used this ability to determine where the three forms were, and what they were. Look into his bio if you wish to learn more about him. He's my favorite character.

Raine stared at the empty space where Zain had been for a fraction of a second before jumping off Syrin. She bit back a scream as the ground rushed up under her.

Raine sighed in relief as she felt her feet touch something solid again. Looking down from the house, she saw an official standing a little ways away behind a torch. She tore off a strip of cloth from her sleeve and wrapped it around a piece of coal she'd picked up the previous week.

Taking careful aim, Raine tossed the lump of wrapped coal through the fire of the torch at the official. The lump ignited and landed in a fold of cloth on the official, sending it up in flames. Raine lowered herself down slightly in case anyone looked up, and watched.

IC: Zain looked towards the castle entrance when the distraction went off, and saw a patrol of soldiers walk out in a circular formation. There was another soldier in the middle, with higher-class armor than those around him, and his appearance gave off a wave of experience that could belong to one equal in rank to a general. Natsu extended his hands towards the man, still invisible, and through high concentration, extended his will towards the soldier, and enforced it upon the man. Because the soldier was human, it was all but too easy to take over him.

OOC: (Changing to soldier's viewpoint, and I shall call him General James for now)

IC: James knew something was wrong when he felt his control over his legs weakening. Before he could voice it to the soldiers around him, however, he felt his jaw lock in place, and he suddenly lost all control of his body, but he was still moving. He couldn't move his own body anymore. He turned around and told the men, "I'll be right back," but it wasn't him that said it. He felt himself walk back towards the castle entrance.

OOC: Switching back to Zain...

IC: Zain was examining the soldier's mind, looking for any information that made lead him to the library, and eventually he found it. Library; 3rd floor, turn right, thirteenth door on the left. James walked back into the castle, and using James's mind, Zain located the staircases for the first and second floor. After arriving at the third floor, he turned a right, and counted down the doors until he arrived at the thirteenth door, and entered. He had arrived at the library.

Raine jumped as Zain's voice echoed in her head. I'm coming now, she said. Standing up again, she set off across the rooftops towards the building.

Raine had arrived at the building less than a minute later. Zain immediately searched for Syrin's mind, but it was blocked fully. Zain yelled, SYRIN!, but got no response. Zain cursed softly, "Syrin won't answer. It's likely he has run into trouble. I hate to do this, but we can't fly out. I can't crush the wall, or else I risk everything above collapsing, which would leave us trapped." Zain sighed, "I shall use my own energy to lift us both over Uru'baen's wall, and then down. I'll probably have to use some of my ring's energy as well. If I relied completely on my own energy, I wouldn't be able to escape the troops that are inevitably coming after us. I can only hope our faces weren't seen. Risa," and both he and Raine started rising. They were still invisible, so they couldn't be seen. In a few minutes, they landed on the outside of Uru'baen.

Zain lay on his hands and knees, panting. He had relied almost entirely on his own energy, to test his limits. He drew energy out of his ring to replenish half of his energy. Great. I used even more energy trying to get us out of Uru'baen than I did teleporting the scrolls. Still, I know a bit more on my limits now. He stood up quickly, "Let's go. We'll run to the right of Uru'baen. They wouldn't have expected us to escape the way we did." Zain then took off running. He needed to know what happened to Syrin.

Syrin dodged the enemy dragon's tail swipe, and retaliated by blowing a torrent of fire. Syrin used the distraction to speed towards the city. Due to his fight with the other dragon, he couldn't fly Zain out of Uru'baen. He saw the enemy dragon tail after him towards the city, but the dragon was going slower for some reason. In several minutes, he saw Uru'baen. It was a mile away, and a couple minutes later, he felt a powerful, but slowly dwindling mind on the right side of Uru'baen. He flew towards Zain, regardless of being visible.

Just as Zain started running, he felt Syrin's mind interact with his. His first feeling was relief, but anger followed after. Where have you been? Zain snapped, but he saw his answer as he saw another dragon flying behind Syrin, about 200 yards away.

He's an enemy, and he kept me busy. However, I can defeat him. You can just wa-

"It looks like my dragon did a good job locating your position," a firm and powerful voice interrupted Syrin. Zain looked towards where the voice came from to see someone materialize out of thin air. The man had dark, spiky red hair that fell around his eyes. There was a thin line traveling down his right eye, a scar. "Who are you?" Zain asked. If this man really was a dragon rider, it was one Zain had never seen or heard of before.

Raine watched as Zain replenished his strength, then ran off after him. Looking ahead, she saw the black dragon, Syrin flying towards them followed by another shape. She started to open her mouth to ask Zain who the other dragon was, then heard a voice speak.

Following Zain's line of sight, Raine saw a strange man appear out of nowhere. Not entirely sure what to do, she kept silent and watched, afraid to say something wrong.

"My name? Why do you wish to know my name? You won't remember it for long," Lakris said. The red dragon landed next to the man. "But, if you wish to know, my name is Lakris. Since you've seen my dragon, I'm going to have to wipe that memory out of your mind. I must admit, you two are very bold to try to pull a heist on Uru'baen. It seems you've gotten away from it, but not without attracting attention. Your very entrance to Uru'baen is what gave you away. You tried to mask your presence, but all you did was bend the light around your body. The very air your dragon flew in to bring you to Uru'baen is what gave you away."

With a roar, Syrin dived towards Lakris, but his dragon quickly stepped in front of Syrin and caught him by the wings. My name is Sylverta. I apologize. I seemed to give you the misinterpretation that you were stronger than I, which even the blindest fool would know is incorrect, Lakris's dragon said to Syrin. He opened his mouth and a torrent of fire escaped his mouth. Syrin backstepped from the blast, but Sylverta flew around the blast and slammed his tail into Syrin's jaw. Zain flinched from the pain the sprickled on his jaw from Syrin's injury. Lakris quickly stuck out a hand and a purple chain, which looked to be made out of energy, shot out and pierced Zain's chest. Lakris swung his hand to the right, and Zain, hooked to the chain, flew in that direction and slammed into Uru'baen's wall.

I cannot allow the Empire soldiers to hear this, Lakris said, and mumbled a spell that silenced any sound made in the battle.

Zain struggled to get up. "Raine, come on. I think the two of us should be able to beat him."

Raine hurried to where Zain had landed. "Right, what should we do? I don't have magic, so I'm not much use in that area...." She eyed Lakris apprehensively. "What do you want?"

OOC: Zain teleported it to the cave Syrin was supposed to be waiting at, but Sylverta attacked Syrin before he made it back to the cave.

IC:

"Draw your weapon. We'll attack him at the same time," Zain said quietly to Raine.

"Do I need a reason to do as I wish?" Lakris replied to Raine's question.

Zain concentrated solely on Lakris, and applying some energy, a blast shot out of the design on Zain's forehead towards Lakris. Lakris's eyes widened slightly, and the blast made contact. An explosion followed the blast, and smoke covered the area where Lakris was. Did it get him? Zain wondered.

A heavy gust of wind blew the smoke away, and a yellow shield of energy hung in front of Lakris. That was close. I didn't expect a blast like that, Lakris thought.

Zain charged Lakris with his sword drawn. Lakris clasped his hands together and said, "Amaterasu Formula 18." A shockwave grew out from Lakris, and pushed Zain back. Zain pushed out his hands and caught the shockwave. It pushed him back several feet, and dispersed. "Let's go Raine. We'll attack him at the same time." Lakris sighed, and drew a sword's hilt from his side. "If you wish to fight with a sword, then so be it," Lakris said, and formed a blade of wind out of the hilt.

Raine quickly drew her twin knives, then watched the brief struggle. She couldn't see anything coming from Lakris' sword hilt, so she assumed it must be magic. Knives ready, she watched Zain out of the corner of her eye for some sort of signal for attack.

Raine nodded slightly, then charged at Lakris. Confident that he could not block two knives at once, she stabbed at him, aiming one of her knives for his chest and the other for his head.

Lakris backstepped from the blows, and blocked a blow that Zain swung at his back by twisting his blade. "Amaterasu Formula 27," Lakris said calmly. He pointed one hand at Raine, and the other at Zaine. A blast shot out from both of his hands, and quickly accelerating towards Raine, who was on his left, and Zain, who was on his right.

Syrin continuously grapped at Sylverta. After ascending thirty feet in the air, the two charged each other and scratched, kicked, bit, and smashed the other in any way they could. Sylverta backed up several yards and shot a fireball towards Syrin. Syrin flew under the ball and came up behind Sylverta. Syrin charged with his mouth open, aiming to bite Sylverta's neck and end the fight. Sylverta quickly dropped to the ground, and shot a torrent of fire towards Syrin. Syrin retaliated with his own fire blast, and the blasts met in the middle, Sylverta's gaining the upper hand.

Raine's eyes widened, and she quickly ducked to get under the blast of magic coming for her, taking a step back.

Zain dodged the blow and worked quickly, trying to take over Lakris. Zain's veins popped, and he slammed his will and mind into Lakris's.

Lakris's eyes widened. He felt it increasingly hard to move his body. "Raine, strike him now!" Zain yelled.

OOC: Yeah on Natsu's bio, I asked them if I was ready to go when they all accepted it, and they said draco still had to move it, so she's the only one that can, I believe.

IC: Zain lost concentration as the man he had seen in the library spoke, "So, you're the one who took control of a soldier and stole valuable materials, are you?"

Zain cursed under his breath. He was already having trouble against one Shade, and he wouldn't be able to take over a Shade/Dragon Rider and a Shade at the same time, and if he took over one, the other wouldn't allow it. I could teleport me, Riane, and Syrin away, but that would use a large amount of energy, so I need to save it for a last resort, Zain thought.

Zain faced the man who had just arrived. He couldn't hold back at all if he wanted a chance of escaping.

Lakris felt the control lessen over him. He had to admit, this Zain was an interesting Dragon Rider. However, his body controlling technique doesn't work well on Shades, as he would have to control at least two different entities.

"So, you're the one who took control of a soldier and stole valuable materials, are you?" the man who had just arrived said.

The outcome of this battle was set in stone before the other Shade arrived. Now, Zain must also see that his defeat is within the perimeter. However, I won't let my guard down near that Shade. I don't know anything about him. I'll have to wipe his mind of my presence after the battle is over. I've worked too hard to preserve my identity for it to be revealed here.

"So, if Zain is fighting that Shade, then it looks like you're left with me," Lakris said to the girl named Raine.

Raine shifted her knives slightly in her grip, measuring up the Shade before her. She hadn't counted on another Shade appearing and leaving her to fight Lakris. Without replying to the comment, she lunged forwards, again jabbing the blades at Lakris, aiming one for his head and the other for his right leg.

After the other Shade had arrived, Sylverta had flown off with Syrin close behind him to avoid any more notice on him.

Lakris pinned the sword aimed for his leg to the ground by jumping as it lashed out and slamming down on it. He barely had had enough time to block the blow to his head. He heard a whistling sound through the air, and almost like a twitch, his arm snapped out and caught the arrow. Arrows don't fire on their own Lakris thought. He swiftly kicked Raine back, but not hard enough to knock her down. All he needed was to push her away. He turned and walked towards where the arrow had come from; a tree near Uru'baen wall.

Zain held out his sword and charged Zalda, but not too hastily. He couldn't waste time with or act boldly against two Shades.

Raine winced as one of her blades was slammed down into the ground, wrenching it from her grip, then stumbled backwards when Lakris kicked her. Taking a moment to regain her balance, she saw him grab an arrow in flight, then turn and walk away. Hoping to catch the Shade while his back was turned, Raine caught up the knife she had dropped and tackled Lakris with her full weight, stabbing this time at the small of his back.

Raine's eyes widened as she flew through the air, swung by a strange purple chain. She gasped as she hit a tree trunk at full speed, driving the wind out of her.

Raine groaned and slowly pushed herself off the ground. Her head spinning slightly, she didn't move again for a few seconds. When the world stopped spinning, she got to her feet. She crept behind Lakris as softly as possible, hoping to catch him off guard.

IC: Zain felt his arm swing to the side, and he was barely able to control it enough to keep it within defensive range. This guy is strong, Zain thought, amazed. Zain quickly jumped back and fired a blast from his tattoo. He then charged once more with his sword, keeping it lowered for an underhand blow.

Lakris looked to either of his sides. The elven girl was on his left, and Raine was on his right. He shot a wave of wind towards Raine, aiming to throw her off balance for any amount of time. He then walked closer to the elf, stopping forty feet away from her. He pointed his sword towards the elf. He lunged towards her, shooting a chain out of one hand and preparing to attack her with his sword in the other.

OOC: Sorry for the short posts lately, I've had to post on my iPod.

Raine felt a strong gust of wind, and she stumbled backwards, thrown off balance. She saw Lakris charge a strange elf that had dropped from the nearby tree. She watched them, ready to jump in at a moment's notice.

OOC: You're doing better on your iPod than I can do on a computer.

OOC: CDG, it's your post.

OOC: Yeah, it's not a real metal chain. It's made out of energy. Lakris knows how to manipulate energy into forms, and thus can produce a chain. It's one of his favorite attacks.

IC: Zain backstepped the shot to his chest, and attacked the Shade mentally and grabbed his sword with both hands and swung it towards the Shade's upper chest in a wide arc.

Sylverta felt his hold on his fire lessen gradually. My fire is stronger, but he is able to keep his up longer. Also, it seems he's older than me, he thought. If he let go of his fire, the chance that he would evade the other dragon's fire was not likely.
